DASH HAS RECENTLY CRACKED AROUND AIR BAG AND ABOVE GAGES. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID TOO BAD. WE CAN REPLACE FOR $2000.00.
DASH BOARD HAS DEVELOPED MAJOR CRACKS, PARKED IN DRIVE WAY MOTOR MOUNT BROKE, DISCOVERED AT INSPECTION ENGINE HAD TO BE REBUILT DIE TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION (COVERED UNDER WARRANTY) WHEELS CORODED FROM INSIDE, PITTED HEAD, TIRES LEAK AIR AS A RESULT PURCHASED AS A GM CERTIFIED VEHICLE, 32K MILES. HAD TO TAKE BACK NEXT DAY DUE TO WARPED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS...ANT CHEVY, SELLERSVILLE PA.
MY 2009 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN BEGAN STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS AFTER IT HAD RAINED HEAVILY THE DAY PRIOR. THE SHOP DISCOVERED THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS, BUT GM INFORMED ME THAT IT EXCLUDED MY VIN #. THE PROBLEM WITH THE MODULE WAS EXACTLY WHAT IS LISTED IN THE RECALL AND WAS NOT RELATED TO "WEAR AND TEAR" AS SUGGESTED BY RANDY WITH GM (SENIOR ADVISOR), BUT A FAULTY SEAL INTENDED TO PREVENT WATER INFILTRATION. I AM REQUESTING A RECALL THAT INCLUDES MY VIN...I AM NOT SURE HOW THIS CAN HAPPEN ON THE EXACT YEAR AND CAR LISTED IN THE RECALL, YET BE EXCLUDED. I HAVE FOUND ADDITIONAL 2009 CHEVY OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE THROUGH ONLINE BLOGS THAT ALSO WERE DENIED THIS RECALL.
DASH IS CRACKED AROUND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG
MY CARS ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST POWER WHILE IT WAS ON. THE STABILITRAK LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT BOTH CAME ON. I HAD TO PULL OVER. CAR RESET ITSELF AFTER I SHUT IT OFF FOR FEW MINUTES. IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK IT TO DEALER AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT THEY ARE AWARE THAT IT SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE, THEY SAY ITS NOT A RECALL ISSUE. APPARENTLY AN OIL SENSOR GOES BAD AND DESPITE THE GAUGE SHOWING ITS OK, THE ENGINE IS OPERATING WITH NO OIL. I CHANGE THEN OIL EVERY 3000-3500 MILES SO IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE NOTICED OVER THE LAST FEW OIL CHANGES AT EVERY 3000 MILES. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMPTION WITH THIS MOTOR. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT CONSUMES A QUART EVERY 1000 MILES. THERE IS NO VISIBLE LEAKS ON THE MOTOR OR ANY WHERE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. ALSO I HAVE NOTICED THAT AT A COLD START UP THERE IS A "PUFF" OF BLACK SMOKE THAT COMES OUT OF THE TAIL PIPE. THIS ALSO CAN BE CONFIRMED BY LOOKING AT THE TIP OF THE TAIL PIPE AND THE REAR BODY PANEL BEHIND THE TAIL PIPE WERE BLACK SOOT HAS FORMED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO DISCONNECT AND RECONNECT THE BATTERY OR THE ELECTRICAL BOX UNDER THE HOOD IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO START. THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,089.
AS I'M SLOWING DOWN MY CAR SHOOTS OUT ALMOST INTO TRAFFIC. IT WORE DOWN BOTH MY FRONT AND REAR BREAK PADS. ALSO BURNS OIL. I HAVE TO ADD A FULL BOTTLE O OIL EVERY COUPLE O WEEKS. HAS SMOKED FROM EXHAUST REAL BAD ONE TIME BEFORE I KNEW TO ADD OIL. NOW SINCE YESTERDAY JULY 13, 2015 IT SAYS TO SERVICE STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF.
THE DASH HAS THREE CRACKS AND MISSING A TRIANGULAR SHAPE THAT CRACKED AND FELL THROUGH THE DASH. THE CRACKS ARE WORSENING. I WAS ADVISED SAFE LIGHT THAT PHOTOS ARE TAKEN OF DASH DAMAGE BECAUSE THESE CRACKS ARE COMMON IN THESE AREAS FOR THIS VEHICLE. ALSO, THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES ARE PEELING OFF AND HAVE CAUSED MANY BLEEDING CUTS ON MY HANDS AS WELL AS MY PASSENGERS. ALSO A KNOWN DEFECT IN THIS VEHICLE. PHOTOS INCLUDED. I AM NOT CERTAIN OF WHEN EXACTLY THE CRACKS BEGAN OR WHEN EXACTLY THE PEELING BEGAN.
MY 2009 SUBURBAN HAS A CRACK IN THE DASH RIGHT NEAR THE AIRBAGS. IT IS ABOUT 1 1/2" IN LENGTH. I AM WORRIED THAT IT WILL CRACK WORSE AND CAUSE MY AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY WHEN NOT NECESSARY OR FAIL TO DEPLOY WHEN NEEDED. *TR
TAKATA RECALL IN ADDITION THE DASH HAS SPLIT LEADING RIGHT UP TO THE INFLATOR COVER. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN SPLIT APPEARED. GOT IN THE CAR (PARKED IN GARAGE) ONE MORNING AND SPLIT WAS NOTICED LEADING RIGHT UP TO THE INFLATOR OVER.
ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC ON A THREE LANE ROAD. AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE POWER STEERING, BRAKES, AND ACCELERATION LOCKED UP. I COULD BARELY TURN THE WHEEL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS UNRESPONSIVE. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I WAS ABLE TO MUSCLE THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT AND JAM ON THE BREAKS TO COAST TO A STOP. THE POWER WAS STILL ON THE CAR, BUT THE AC WAS NOT BLOWING AS HARD. AFTER A RESTART, IT WORKED NORMALLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE COULD BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO PERFORMED A BG FUEL INJECTION CLEANING AND THROTTLE BODY CLEANING AND REPROGRAMMED THE PCM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. UPDATED 8/28/14*CN
DASH ON SUBURBAN HAS DEVELOPED MULTIPLE CRACKS THAT COULD POSE A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE EVENT AN AIRBAG MAY FIRE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO UNLOCK. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOOR WOULD ONLY UNLOCK MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 76,000.
I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR A COUPLE MONTHS, AND IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING. I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY SUBURBAN WITH APPROXIMATELY 71,500 MILES ON IT. THE SUBURBAN IS ALWAYS GARAGED, AND WE WOKE UP ONE MORNING TO A LARGE CRACK, WHICH HAS NOW CAVED IN, ON THE DASH RIGHT ABOVE THE HUMP OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND A CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. WE CALLED GM AND SPOKE TO [XXX] AT EXT [XXX] AND RECEIVED A CASE NUMBER. WE WENT TO OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR AN ESTIMATE OF APPROXIMATELY $1,000, AND THEN CALLED GM BACK WITH THAT ESTIMATE. GM CALLED THE DEALER AND THEN THE DEALER LOWERED THE PRICE TO $350 - $400. I STILL FIND THIS UNACCEPTABLE. I KNOW WHAT GM SENT ME IS A STANDARD REPLY. I DO NOT, AND WILL NOT ACCEPT A PHONE CALL THAT SAYS IT WILL BE $400 PLUS DOLLARS TO REPLACE MY DASH. THIS IS NOT MY DOING. THIS IS A DEFECT IN A GM PRODUCT. IT NEEDS TO BE COVERED AND GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND SHOW THE CUSTOMER SOME OF THE RESPECT IT WANTS FROM SAID CUSTOMER. NO OIL PRESSURE LIGHT DISPLAY. SHUT OFF ENGINE I HAD TO ADD OIL. I BELIEVE I HAVE THE SAME OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM MANY OTHERS HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT. I'VE HAD TO ADD OIL TO MY SUBURBAN EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT IN 2009. I HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. EVEN IF I'VE HAD AN OIL CHANGE. I CARRY EXTRA OIL WITH FOR FEAR OF THE NO OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMING ON. MY MOST CURRENT PROBLEM WAS WITH OIL STILL AT 40%. *TR
THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES
WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE SUDDENLY GOES INTO "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MODE ("LIMP MODE") WITH CONSOLE MESSAGE "TRACTION CONTOL DISABLED, SERVICE STABILITRAK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED". GENERALLY OCCURS WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE LOWER THAN 25 DEGREES FARENHEIT. SHUTTING DOWN VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND RESTARTING LEADS TO NORMAL OPERATION, HOWEVER VEHICLE WILL GENERALLY REPEAT SAME PROBLEM WITHIN 5-15 MINUTES IF OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS COLD ENOUGH (BELOW 25 DEGREES FARENHEIT) . ERROR CODE P1235 (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR 1-2 CORRELATION...) IS SET, BUT MAY NOT PERSIST IN MEMORY. GM IS PROVIDING OWNERS WITH ADDITIONAL PROTECTIONS FOR 10 YEARS/120,000 MILES UNDER CSC-10047220-3332 (BULLETIN NO. 11273), HOWEVER NOT ALL VINS ARE INCLUDED. VEHICLE HAD THROTTLE BODY (INCLUDING SENSOR) REPLACED IN 2010 AND APPEARS TO BE EXHIBITING EXACT PROBLEMS COVERED BY THIS BULLETIN, HOWEVER GM DEALER AND GM ARE NOT EXTENDING PROTECTION FOR THIS VEHICLE. DEALER IS RECOMMENDING ANOTHER NEW THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND/OR THROTTLE BODY (INCLUDING SENSOR), ALONG WITH COMPUTER RESET. THIS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED FOR MORE THAN THREE YEARS AND POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS (DRASTIC SUDDEN DECELERATION IN TRAFFIC).
I BOUGHT MY 2009 SUBURBAN NEW IN NOVEMBER 2009. BUT AT AROUND 60K MILES THE DASHBOARD CRACKED. WOULD THIS AFFECT THE AIRBAGS OR POSE AS A SAFETY ISSUE? I HAVE 3 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK SO THIS BETTER NOT BE A THREAT TO ANY OF US.
2009 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN LTZ CRACKED DASHBOARD WITHOUT BEING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. CRACKS STARTED APPEARING OVER DRIVER'S SIDE AREA ABOVE AIRBAGS. VERY CONCERNING IF INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND AIRBAGS DEPLOYING AND SHARDS OF PLASTIC BECOMING FLYING PROJECTILES AND AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM GM IS FULLY AWARE OF. *TR
DASHBOARD IN VEHICLE CRACKS THE PRODUCT IS MADE OF CHEAP PLASTIC MATERIAL AND INSTALLED FROM THE FACTORY WITHOUT ANY SUPPORT OR RUBBER WASHERS TO ALLOW FOR MOVEMENT CAUSING THE DASHBOARD TO CRACK AND CRUMBLE OVER TIME. THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR GM / CHEVY MODEL TRUCKS AND SUV 'S FROM 2007-2014.
DASHBOARD CRACKED BY AIRBAG AND OVER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HSS TO BE SAFETY ISSUE DASH BOARD IS LOOSE AND VIBRATES.
PURCHASED A 2008 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN IN 2010, WITH APPROXIMATELY 26,000 MILES. IT CURRENTLY HAS 64,353 MILES AND THE ENGINE IS VIGOROUSLY CONSUMING OIL. ON JULY 10TH, 2013 I WAS ON THE PARKWAY WHEN I BEGAN TO HEAR A TICKING NOSE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, THE WARNING INDICATOR INSIDE THE CAR WENT OFF AND THE DISPLAY READ "OIL PRESSURE LOW", THE ACTUAL READER GAGE WAS MARKING NEARLY AT 0. I EXITED AT THE NEAREST EXIT, AND HAD TO REFILL THE MOTOR OIL WITH NEARLY 6 QTS. THE NEXT OIL CHANGE IS NOT DUE TIL ABOUT A MONTH FROM NOW OR ANOTHER 600 MILES. THERE AREN'T ANY VISIBLE LEAKS, THE TRUCK JUST SEEMS TO BE BURNING OIL FASTER THAN I CAN RUN IT THROUGH TO THE NEXT SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE OR THE 3,000 MILES USUALLY ALLOWED BY MOST OILS. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND IT APPEARS THAT A GOOD AMOUNT OF THIS PARTICULAR MODEL HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW IT FALLS ON THE CONSUMER TO MAKE SUCH REPAIRS WHEN IT IS CLEARLY A MATTER THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY CHEVROLET. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT IT IS CERTAINLY A MATTER THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF AS RUNNING A VEHICLE WITHOUT MOTOR OIL COULD POTENTIALLY KILL THE ENGINE, AND PERMANENTLY DISABLE A VEHICLE, OR EVEN WORSE BRING UP A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THE MANUFACTURES. I'VE BEEN A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER OF CHEVROLET BUT THIS COULD PERHAPS BE A DEAL BREAKER FOR ME, AS IT HAS BEEN FOR MANY INDIVIDUALS WHOM HAVE TRADED OFF THEIR VEHICLES FOR SOMETHING A BIT MORE RELIABLE. *TR
THE DOOR LOCK ON THE DRIVER SIDE SECOND ROW WOULD NOT UNLOCK WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED EITHER BY THE INSIDE UNLOCK MECHANISM OR THE REMOTE CONTROL DOOR UNLOCK BUTTON. HAD TO MANUALLY UNLOCK IN FROM THE INSIDE WHICH WAS DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF HAVING A CARSEAT BACK THERE. SHOULD THERE HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE WHERE I NEEDED TO GET MY CHILD OUT IN A HURRY, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE. *TR

ABOUT A YEAR AGO THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WOULDN'T WORK, NOW ALL DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WITH REMOTE OR SWITCH. ALSO WILL NOT LOCK/UNLOCK WHEN PUT INTO GEAR OR BACK INTO PART. LOCKS MOVE SLIGHTLY WHEN YOU PUSH THE BUTTON BUT WILL NOT FULLY ENGAGE OR DISENGAGE WHEN MANUALLY PUSHED. NO RECALL DATA AVAILABLE BUT I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS. *TR
THE ENGINE IS BURNING 2 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 3000 MILES. *TR
DASHBOARD OF 2009 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN CRACKED IN 2 PLACES, INCLUDING AROUND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND ABOVE DRIVERS SIDE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER/STEERING WHEEL. CONCERNED FOR THE PROPER DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG DURING POTENTIAL CRASH DUE TO THE CRACKED DASH THAT SURROUNDS THE AIRBAG. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES POSSESS THE SAME MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE DASHBOARD AND ALL HAVE REPORTED LARGE CRACKS IN THE EXACT SAME AREA. *TR
I ALSO HAVE ONE OF THE AFFECTED CRACKED FRONT DASHES THAT HAVE BEEN POSTED. THE DASH IS CRACKED IN THREE PLACES, ONE OVER THE DRIVERS CONSOLE WHICH IS CAVING INWARD, ANOTHER ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE PASSENGERS AIRBAG AND THE OTHER IN THE FAR RIGHT CORNER OF THE DASH. THIS HAS A POTENTIAL TO SERIOUSLY INJURE SOMEONE IN THE VEHICLE IF THE CAR IS IN AN ACCIDENT. CHEVROLET MAINTAINS THAT THERE IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE DASHES FROM ANY OF THE FOLLOWING VEHICLES: 2007-2013 AVALANCHE, SILVERADO, SUBURBAN, TAHOE AND CADILLAC ESCALADE. ALL OF THESE VEHICLES IN THAT RANGE HAVE THE SAME DASH COMPONENT. THERE ARE MANY CASES LISTED ON A CHEVROLET FORUM WEBSITE. REPLACEMENT AND COST TO REPAIR THE FAULTY DASH IS SOLELY UP TO THE DEALER NOT CHEVROLET. *TR
DASH ON 2009 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN HAS CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEXT TO THE AIRBAG PANEL. DASH HAS ALSO CRACKED ON THE DRIVER SIDE ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER. CONCERN IS THAT IN A CAR ACCIDENT WHERE THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY THE DASH BOARD MAY BREAK APART AND BECOME SHRAPNEL CAUSING ADDITIONAL INJURY, PERMANENT DISABILITY, OR DEATH TO THE PASSENGER.
THE DASH BROKE BETWEEN AIRBAG AND FORWARD EDGE OF DASH. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF PASSENGERS IF THE AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED AND THAT SHARP DASH CORNER HITS A PERSON OR THE AIRBAG. THE DASH TO THE LEFT OF THE BREAK IS SINKING DOWN TO WHERE THE CLIP HOLDING ON THE AIRBAG COVER IS VISIBLE. THE DASH VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY NOW WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING. I EXPECT MORE CRACKS DUE TO THIS VIBRATION. *TR
THE DOOR LOCKS INTERMITTENTLY WORK. SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. SAFETY ISSUE. CAN'T GET IN OR OUT OF VEHICLE. WE HAD ONE FIXED AND NOW ALL OF THE DOORS ARE DOING IT. SOMETIMES THE CAR LOCKS ITSELF. *TR
DASHBOARD ON THE DRIVER SIDED CRACKED INTO 2 PIECES. I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAVE HAD THIS ISSUES. I FOUND QUITE NUMBERS OF OWNER HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT THE QUALITY YOU EXPECT FROM $50K VEHICLE, I BELIEVE IT IS DUE TO "POORLY" FINISHED JOB. GM SIMPLY REFUSES TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND FORCES ME TO PAY SO CALLED, "DEDUCTIBLE". THE DISCOVERY OF THE DEFECT WAS ON SEPTEMBER 2012. THERE IS A CRACK ON THE DASH ABOVE THE VEHICLES INSTRUMENTATION I.E. SPEEDOMETER, OIL PRESSURE, GAS LEVEL, ETC. I REPORTED TO LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP (HENRY BROWN CHEVROLET) ABOUT THE DEFECT AND MY CONCERN FOR SAFETY. THEY SAID THERE IS NO AVAILABLE SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THINKING THAT THIS WAS AN ISOLATED CASE I DID NOT PURSUE THE MATTER. THEN RECENTLY WHEN I SURFED THE INTERNET I CAME UPON A GROUP OF GM VEHICLE OWNER WITH THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE AND THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUE. SO I INVESTIGATED FURTHER. GOING TO DIFFERENT WEB BLOGS, I FOUND MORE GM VEHICLE OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. EVERYBODY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THEY HAVE CRACKED DASH ON THEIR GM VEHICLES. SOME HAVE THE CRACKS ON BOTH SIDE WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS. THE DANGER IS THAT THIS MIGHT PUNCTURE THE AIRBAG AND RENDER IT INEFFECTIVE. THE MAIN CONCERN IS SAFETY BECAUSE I DON'T WANT MY VEHICLE TO FAIL ON ME AND MY FAMILY. IF FOR SOME REASON WATER GETS IN THE VEHICLES INSTRUMENTATION AND CAUSES AN ELECTRICAL SHORT, ME AND MY FAMILY COULD BE IN DANGER OF A VEHICLE ACCIDENT. I AM TRYING TO BE PROACTIVE AND HAVE THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED RATHER THAN WAIT TO BE A VICTIM OF AN UNSAFE VEHICLE OR CAUSE ANOTHER DRIVER TO BE IN AN AVOIDABLE ACCIDENT. WE NEED THIS VEHICLES RECALLED SO THAT GM CAN TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND FIX AN UNSAFE VEHICLE. *TR
OUR ACTUATORS FAILED ON 3 OF MY DOORS OF MY 2009 CHEVY SUBURBAN. IF YOU USE THE REMOTE ONLY THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR LOCKS AND/OR UNLOCKS. IF YOU USE THE UNLOCK/LOCK POWER BUTTON ONLY THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WORKS. YOU MUST USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR AND YOU MUST EITHER OPEN THE WINDOW TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE OTHER DOORS OR REACH ACROSS THE CAR TO UNLOCK THE PASSENGER SIDE LOCKS. WE CONTACTED GM AND THEY SENT US TO HAVE A DIAGNOSIS DONE WHICH COST US $99. THEY ESTIMATED THE COST TO BE $900 AND TOLD US WE WERE RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE OUR WARRANTY ENDED AT 36,000 MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. IN AN ACCIDENT I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET TO ANY PASSENGERS INCLUDING MY CHILDREN NOR COULD EMERGENCY PERSONNEL. I COULD EASILY BE CAR JACKED OR HAVE MY BELONGINGS STOLEN DUE TO THE LOCKS NOT WORKING. IF MY SMALL CHILD CHOKED OR HAD A MEDICAL EMERGENCY I COULD NOT REACH THEM. I WATCH STORIES EVERY DAY ON THE NEWS OF AWFUL PEOPLE TAKING OR ASSAULTING WOMEN BY BREAKING INTO THEIR CARS AND HIDING IN THE BACK SEATS. THIS CAR COST WELL OVER $50,000 AND THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL. THERE WILL BE A TRAGEDY IF THIS IS NOT FIXED. *TT
VEHICLE DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK USING REMOTE CONTROL. COST OVER $300.00 TO HAVE CHEVROLET DEALER FIX. NOW IN FEB 2014 WITH 7600 MILES IT STARTED NOT WORKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BACK DOOR STOP WORKING WITH REMOTE CONTROL. ALL OTHER LOCKS WOULD OPEN BUT NOT THE REAR DOOR AT THAT TIME. IT APPEARS THEIR ARE ISSUES WITH THESE DOOR LOCKS. THE DOOR LOCKS WILL ONLY OPEN MANUALLY WHEN THEY FAIL WHICH IS A PAIN DUE TO THE SIZE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
SUDDEN ATTENDED ACCELERATION ACCELERATED FROM 2 MPH TO 60 MPH. *TR
DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER WORKING ON DRIVER DOOR, FRONT PASSENGER, AND NOW REAR PASSENGER. DEALERSHIP SAYS ALL THREE NEED REPLACED. DRIVER DOOR WENT FIRST, THEN FRONT PASSENGER, AND THEN REAR PASSENGER. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL POSTINGS RELATED TO MULTIPLE DOOR LOCK FAILURES - NOT JUST SINGLE LOCKS, BUT MANY CASES OF 2-4 LOCKS FAILING ON A SINGLE VEHICLE. LOCKS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE (ESPECIALLY IN QUANTITIES OF 3 OR 4) AND REPRESENT A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE DOORS CANNOT BE SECURED. *TR
OWNERS ARE CONVINCED THAT A CRACKED DASHBOARD COULD COMPOUND THE SEVERITY OF A THE VEHICLE DASH IS DAMAGED I AM STATING THAT IT COULD SHATTER INTO PIECES UPON AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND SEND SHARDS OF DASHBOARD FLYING AT BOTH THE DRIVER AND THEIR PASSENGERS. THE SHARDS COULD ALSO LACERATE THE AIRBAGS AND RENDER THEM USELESS. MY DASH HAS CRACKED AND SEPARATED WITH NO ADDITIONAL STRESS FROM VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. THIS DAMAGE HAPPENS AS THE VEHICLE IS PARKED THE SUN WEAKENS THE MATERIAL,THEN AS THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN IT CREATES STRESS CRACKS. MOREOVER ANY DASH RELATED REPAIR WILL FURTHER DAMAGE THE DASH. FOR EXAMPLE THIS IS ONE OF THE REASONS GM HAS BEEN SO RESISTANT TO A TAKATA AIR BAG RECALL KNOWING THAT IT WILL LIKELY REQUIRE THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD TO BE REPLACED.
WHILE TAKING 4 CHILDREN TO SCHOOL IN THE MORNING, THE DASH TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE ENGINE DIED. POWER STEERING AND BREAKS WERE GONE AND I WAS LEFT STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. AFTER SEVERAL FRANTIC MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE A DRIVE HOME. *TT
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE STABILITRAK LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE CAR SHUTS OFF. VERY DANGEROUS! GLAD WE WEREN'T ON THE HIGHWAY.
CRACKS ALL OVER DASH, AROUND AIRBAG
AS WE WERE DRIVING ON MAJOR HIGHWAY OUR STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE CUT OUT, WE HAD NO POWER. WE WAITED FOR 30 MINUTES AND STARTED ENGINE, IT RAN FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES NOW. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM SOLVED AND JUST TO HAVE IT ASSESSED AT OUR LOCAL DEALER IT WILL COST $120. WE CANNOT AFFORD THAT. PLEASE HELP !!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT TURNED THE KEY TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF BUT THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND BEGAN TO REVERSE INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
FAILURE OF POWER LOCK ACTUATOR ON REAR DOOR. DOOR FAILS TO LOCK AND UNLOCK AS DESIGNED WHEN VEHICLE IS PUT IN OR TAKEN OUT OF GEAR. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON FAILURE ON THESE VEHICLES FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN LEAD TO BELIEVE AND TO DATE I'M TOLD GM IS NOT DOING ANY WIDESPREAD RECALLS TO ADDRESS THIS QUALITY AND SAFETY PROBLEM. *TT
THE LOCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR STOPPED WORKING BY THE UNLOCK BUTTON OR THE AUTOMATIC ENTRY BUTTON. HAD IT REPAIRED TO THE TUNE OF $500. NOW BOTH BACK DOOR LOCKS NEED REPLACING. DANGEROUS IF KIDS UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. *TR
AT 21,000 MILES RIGHT READ DOOR LOCK WOULD NOT OPERATE ELECTRONICALLY. HAD TO MANUALLY MOVE DOOR LOCK BUTTON. DEALER REPLACED LOCK ACTUATOR. AT 49,000 MILES DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK ALSO BECAME INOPERABLE. DEALER REPLACED ACTUATOR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A CHRONIC DEFECT.
THE DASHBOARD ON MY VEHICLE STARTED CRACKING AND JUST GETS WORSE YEAR AFTER YEAR
2009 CHEVY SUBURBAN CURRENTLY HAS 57,000 MILES. STARTING AROUND 30,000 MILES THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS STARTED TO STOP WORKING. NOW THE PASSENGER FRONT, PASSENGER REAR, AND DRIVERS SIDE READ DOOR LOCKS DO NOT WORK. THEY DO NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WHILE PUSHING THE SWITCH ON DOOR OR USING THE REMOTE. TOOK TO DEALER TODAY AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE COST TO REPAIR WOULD BE $875.00. RESEARCHED THE ITEM AND IT SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING AND FREQUENT PROBLEM OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS, YET GM IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN TO THOSE OF US WHO HAVE CHILDREN AS THE DOORS TO DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY LOCK LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO AND THEY CAN BE UNLOCKED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. I THINK THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED DUE TO THE HIGH NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN MADE, THE HIGH NUMBER OF REPAIRS THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE FOR THIS, THE HIGH COST TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, AND THE SAFETY ISSUE THAT IT CAN CAUSE. *TR
