There are 2 owner-reported tires & wheels complaints for the 2023 Chevrolet Suburbanin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
Transmission valve control failed. Rear wheels locked up. Vehicle downshifted quickly. No injuries. Vehicle is at dealership for repairs. No warnings.
Vehicle had 14,000 miles and tires were rotated by dealership twice, last one 3 weeks ago. Was driving 55 mph and had a sudden complete deflation and stopped immediately. Tire is completely separated. The outer sidewall is completely separated from the rest of the tire. The tire has never had an injury or other issues. The tire rotation was at Gerry Lane Chevrolet in Baton Rouge, LA. I took the tire in the same day to Gerry Lane Chevrolet service department and they were not helpful. They did not even look at the tire. I am having all 4 tires replaced tomorrow at Costco and will keep the damaged tire and 3 others for any forensic evaluation by your department or designate. I am concerned that this maybe the canary in the coal mine and if there is a manufacturing defect other lives may be at risk. Look forward to urgent follow up. Continental tire has had similar problems with sudden blowouts. 14000 miles properly maintained.
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
