IT'S ACTUALLY THE VERY COMMON DASHBOARD CRACKS, WHICH INEVITABLY WILL EFFECT MY AIRBAG IN THE EVENT ON AN ACCIDENT. AFTER AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS, IT'LL BE TOO LATE. I PURCHASED A USED 2007 TAHOE WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IN 2010. I'VE HAD THE VERY CRACKED DASH REPLACED 4 TIMES BY CHEVY WHILE UNDER WARRANTY - WITH THEM FIGHTING IT. IF POSSIBLE, I THINK THE VERY QUALITY OF THE PLASTIC DECREASED SINCE PROBLEMS AROSE ORIGINALLY. MY DASH IS NOW CRACKED WORSE THAN ALL OTHERS PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED BY CHEVY, ALLOWING ME TO SEE THE THICKNESS QUITE CLEARLY, AND IT APPEARS MUCH MUCH MUCH THINNER THAN THE ORIGINAL DASH. NO MATTER WHAT, THIS IS WRONG AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. NOT ONLY CAN THIS EFFECT MY AIRBAGS, BUT THE SHARP EDGES AND NATURE OF THE PLASTIC ALLOWS FOR IT TO BECOME DEADLY PROJECTILES. A $40,000+ VEHICLE SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE ISSUE. NOR SHOULD A $5 VEHICLE FOR THAT MATTER. CHEVY IS JEOPARDIZING THE LIVES OF NUMEROUS CUSTOMERS ALL IN THE HOPES OF SAVING MONEY - NOT LIVES!! PLEASE SEND CHEVY AN UNMISSABLE MESSAGE AND FORCE A RECALL. THIS WILL ONLY WORSEN AND INCREASE WITH TIME. DUE TO THE EXTREMELY POPULAR PROBLEM, THERE IS NO WAY CHEVY WILL BE ABLE TO DENY KNOWLEDGE AFTER SOMEONE IS KILLED. A LIFE WILL BE LOST DUE TO THIS. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF WHEN AND HOW MANY. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO GIVE EXACT DATES AS TO WHEN EACH DASH WAS REPLACED OVER THE LAST 6 YEARS, BUT I'M ON MY 5TH DASH AND I'M NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. MY CURRENT AND 5TH DASH HAS 3 CRACKS THAT GET CAUGHT IN THE WIND AND LIFT WHEN THE WINDOWS OR SUNROOF ARE OPEN. PRETTY CRAZY. PRETTY DANGEROUS. AND CHEVY HAS KNOWN ALL THESE YEARS!! SHAMEFUL. AND YOU ALLOW IT.
EARLY LAST WEEK, I TOOK MY WIFE'S VEHICLE TO A LOCAL TIRE DEALER CLOSE TO MY HOME TO HAVE FOUR NEW TIRES PUT ON. ONE OF THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSORS WAS BAD SO I WENT & BOUGHT A NEW ONE SO IT COULD BE REPLACED. WHILE SWITCH WAS ON (ENGINE NOT RUNNING), THE TIRE MAN BEGAN TO RE-TRAIN THE SENSORS. IN THE PROCESS OF ALL THIS & BEING INDOORS & THE HEAD LIGHTS WERE ON (AGAIN ENGINE NOT RUNNING) THE BATTERY RAN DOWN & THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. HE HAD TO USE A JUMP BOX TO START THE CAR. DURING THE RUNNING OF THE ENGINE EVERY IDIOT LIGHT CAME ON & STARTED ONE AT A TIME TO GO OUT. AFTER I LEFT I FOUND THAT THE ONLY THING THAT WAS CHANGED WAS THE ENGINE HOURS RE-SET TO ZERO. I LOOKED ON-LINE & FOUND THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL BLOGS CONCERNING THE SAME AS I HAVE DESCRIBED ABOVE WITH THE SAME RESULT. SO I CONTACTED GM VIA EMAIL ON THEIR WEB SITE TO TELL THEM THE ABOVE. THEY CALLED ME BACK & CLAIMED THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH. THEY SUGGESTED I TALK TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER & FIND OUT WHAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. I EXPLAINED ALL THE ABOVE TO EDWARDS CHEVROLET IN BIRMINGHAM, AL. THE SERVICE MANAGER ASK IF ANYTHING ELSE WAS GOING ON BESIDES THE ENGINE HOURS? I TOLD HIM NO. HE SAID I SHOULD NOT WORRY ABOUT IT. THE NEXT DAY THE GM MAN CALLED ME BACK & I TOLD HIM WHAT THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID & HE SAID OK BUT I PROBABLY NEED AN ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) & I SAID I AIN'T BUYING NOTHING AS NOTHING ELSE WAS GOING ON WITH THE CAR. NOW I HAVE GOTTEN SEVERAL CALLS FROM A WOMAN AT GM SAYING SHE HAS TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AT EDWARDS AND HE TOLD HER THE PROBLEM DID NOT HAPPEN AT EDWARDS (EVEN AFTER I TOLD GM THAT EDWARDS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS) & HAPPENED AT A INDEPENDENT DEALER (WHICH I ALREADY STATED) & NOW THE GM WOMAN SAYS I NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. HERE'S WHAT I SEE, THIS IS A GM ISSUE, NOT THE CHEVROLET DEALER OR THE INDEPENDENT TIRE DEALER. I HAVE SAID ALL I AM GOING TO GM ABOUT THIS MATTER & I HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. I JUST PURCHASED A USED 2007 CHEVY TAHOE AND I HAVE CUT MY FINGERS ON BOTH DOOR HANDLES. IT SEEMS THAT THEY USED CHEAP CHROME PLATED HANDLES AND IT IS PEALING. IT IS RAZOR SHARP. I AM JUST GLAD NEITHER MY WIFE OR KIDS GOT CUT. PLEASE RESEARCH THIS AND SEE IF THERE ARE OTHERS. DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAS OVER 36,000 MILES. THIS SHOULD BE FIXED! THANKS *TR
I OWE A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. I NOTICED IN JULY OF THIS YEAR THAT THERE IS A 2-3 INCH CRACK ON THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THE DASH ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE--RIGHT ON TOP OF WHERE THE AIR BAG IS! I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID "SINCE IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE" GENERAL MOTORS SAID THEY WILL NOT REPLACE THE DASH! HOW DO THEY FREAKING KNOW IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN IT'S ON TOP OF THE AIR BAG??? AND NOW THERE'S ANOTHER CRACK! THIS ONE IS JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL ON TOP OF THE DASH! THIS CRACK IS 6-7 INCHES LONG. I TAKE SUPER GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLES, SUN SHADES, REGULAR CONDITIONING, ETC. AND SINCE THE VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS OLD, THERE IS NO REASON (OTHER THAN CRAPPY WORKMANSHIP AND CRAPPY MATERIALS AND CRAPPY ENGINEERING) TO HAVE NOT ONE BUT TWO CRACKS ON A $50,000 VEHICLE! SO I'M GUESSING WHEN MY AIR BAG FAILS ON MY PASSENGER SIDE AND WHEN MY DAUGHTER GETS HURT IN A WRECK BECAUSE THE AIRBAG DOESN'T PROPERLY DEPLOY, THEN IT WILL BE A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I WILL BE ALL OVER GENERAL MOTORS. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. CHECK THE INTERNET. HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME CRACKS HAPPENING. GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IS CHOOSING TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. THE CHROME "PAINT" ON THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAS FLAKED OFF AND WHEN YOU OPEN OR SHUT THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE, IT GIVES YOU A "PAPER CUT." IT HAS CUT MY FINGERS SEVERAL TIMES, YOU DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT THE ACTIONS OF OPENING OR SHUTTING THE DOOR BEFORE YOU DO IT BECAUSE IT IS SECOND NATURE SO IT IS HARD TO DO SOMETHING TO PREVENT IT. *TR
DASH BOARD CRACKED IN SEVERAL AREAS. PIECES HAVE FALL OFF AND ARE VERY SHARP.
I AM FILING A COMPLAINT IN REGARDS TO THE CHEVY TAHOE 2007 LTZ MODEL I OWN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CLAIMED BY THOUSANDS OF OWNERS TO HAVE A FACTORY BAD DASHBOARD. THE DASHBOARD IS MADE WITH A VERY CHEAP AND UNSAFE PLASTIC. THIS PLASTIC CRACKS DUE TO NATURAL CAUSES FROM HEAT AND COLD. THE PLASTIC ALSO AFTER SOME TIME WILL CRACK AND DETERIORATE AGAIN DUE TO UNSAFE AND POOR PLASTIC MATERIAL. THE REMEDY IS TO PURCHASE A NEW DASHBOARD PANEL AND PAY FOR THE PROFESSIONAL LABOR TO INSTALL. THIS PRODUCT COST SHOULD BE SHARD AT A BARE MINIMUM BY GM DUE TO GOOD FAITH PRACTICES. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY CLAIM REVIEWED AND PASSED ON TO GM FOR THE PURPOSE OF CORRECTING THIS UNSAFE FACTORY PLASTIC DASHBOARD. THE AIRBAGS CAN CREATE AND CAUSE A HIGHLY UNSAFE DEPLOYMENT BY EXPLODING CHEAP AND SHARP SHARD OF PLASTIC INTO THE EYES AND FACE OF THE PASSENGER/DRIVER. GM IS CLAIMING TO NOT HAVE THE LEGAL REQUIREMENT TO REPAIR OR PAY FOR THIS UNSAFE DASHBOARD THAT SHOULD OF BEEN A RECALL.
CHROME-PLATTED INSIDE DOOR HANDLES ARE PEELING AND FINGERS ARE BEING SLICED. *TR
THE CHROME ON MY INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE OF MY 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE IS SEPARATING AT THE SEEM. WHEN I WENT TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THE EDGE CUT MY TWO FINGERS BADLY, MORE THAN JUST A PAPER CUT. THE CHROME IS AS RIGID AS A PIECE OF ALUMINUM FROM A SODA CAN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V240000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THE REMEDY BEING OFFERED WAS NOT AN ADEQUATE REPAIR AND BELIEVED THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE URGED TO PROVIDE A NEW REMEDY. THE CONTACT HAS NOT EXPERIENCED ANY FAILURES AT THIS TIME AND REFUSED THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 51,000 MILES.
INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ON 2007 CHEVY TAHOE ARE SHARP TO THE TOUCH AND WE HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL CUTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES WOULD NOT RELEASE TO ALLOW ACCESS INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO ENTER THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE BOTH DOOR HANDLES WERE REPLACED. MOST RECENTLY, THE SIMILAR FAILURE RECURRED WITH BOTH REAR EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM FAILED TO OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT WHEN SHIFTING INTO PARK, THE DOORS WOULD NOT UNLOCK INTERMITTENTLY AND THE UNLOCK/LOCK BUTTON HAD TO BE DEPRESSED REPEATEDLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
DASH HAS BEEN CRACKED IN TWO SPOTS, LEFT TOP CORNER OF PASSENGERS AIRBAG AND LEFT OF HUMP ON DRIVER SIDE DASH. ALSO, TRIM ALONG MIDDLE OF DOORS ARE RUSTED ALONG THE TOPS. NOTICED THIS ON OTHER VEHICLES AND WAS TOLD AT THE DEALERSHIP (FRIENDLY CHEVROLET IN CARROLLTON,TX) THAT NONE OF THIS WAS UNDER WARRANTY.
I HAVE HAD THE DASH CRACK IN 4 DIFFERENT PLACES; TWO ON THE DRIVER SIDE ON EACH SIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND TWO OTHER AROUND THE AIRBAG. THE TWO AROUND THE AIRBAG HAVE MADE IT SO THAT THERE IS FREE PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT IS NOT SECURED BY ANYTHING. I AM AFRAID THAT IF THE AIR BAG WAS TO DEPLOY THEN THIS PIECE WOULD CAUSE GREAT BODILY HARM TO ANYONE IN THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE AND IS NOT OFFERING TO REPLACE THE DASH WITHOUT SOME SORT OF COMPENSATION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR INTERIOR CHROME DOOR HANDLES WERE PEELING AND CAUSING INJURY TO THE PASSENGERS WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO PASSENGERS CUT THEIR HANDS ON THE DOOR HANDLES, INCLUDING HIMSELF. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER TO REPORT THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
THIS IS ABOUT THE 10TH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED...STABILITY TRACK COMES ON- REDUCES ENGINE POWER...DEALERSHIP FINALLY CHANGED THE THROTTLE BODY IN JUNE OF 2011...NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS- BUT IT HAS STARTED BACK UP DECEMBER OF 2011...NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS. LIKE TOYOTA VEHICLES ACCELERATING THIS DOES THE OPPOSITE ..IT DECREASES ACCELERATION. YOU HAVE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY PUT YOUR FLASHES ON -SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND TRY TO CALL SOMEONE FOR ASSISTANCE. I PLAN TO GET RID OF THIS VEHICLE. I CURRENTLY OWN A 2007 CHEVY TAHOE. THE CHROME ON THE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE IS PEELING. I HAVE CUT MYSELF SEVERAL TIMES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN OR CLOSE THE DOOR. SHORT TERM SOLUTION WAS TO PUT TAPE ON THE HANDLE OR A BAND AID. I ALREADY HAVE 6 CUTS (JUST LIKE PAPER CUTS) IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER, REAR DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES WERE FRACTURED AND BECAME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DOORS WERE UNABLE TO BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER, WHO DETERMINED THAT THE INSIDE RETAINER SCREWS HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE HANDLES TO BREAK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE DEFECT WAS RECURRING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
AT 56000 I BEGAN TO NOTICE SALLY CRACKS TO THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH ON THE CORNER OF THE HOUSING FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THIS WAS NOT A COVERED ITEM IN MY WARRANTY. SHORTLY AFTER, THE CRACKS HAVE EXTENDED AND ARE APPROXIMATELY 2-3 INCHES IN LENGTH . ALSO A CRACK ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEGAN AND HAS TRAVELED TO THE FRONT OF THE DASH. THE CONCERN AND IMMEDIATE DANGER IS THAT IF THE AIR BAGS WERE TO DEPLOY, THE EXCERPTED FORCE WOULD EITHER SEND SHRAPNEL FROM THE DASHBOARD IN TO THE PERSONNEL IN THE VEHICLE CAUSING A GREATER RISK OF SERIOUS TRAUMATIC INJURY OR POSSIBLY DEATH. ADDITIONALLY IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE SHARP EDGES CREATED BY THE CRACKS COULD POTENTIALLY PIERCE THE AIRBAG PREVENTING IT FROM FULLY DEPLOYING AS INTENDED AND THUS RENDERING IT IN AFFECTIVE AND NOT ADHERING TO SAFETY STANDARDS, AGAIN RESULTING IN POSSIBLE LOSS OF LIFE OR SEVER TRAUMATIC INJURY.
SERIOUS AND EXTENSIVE CRACKING OF THE DASHBOARD ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND AT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE CRACK WOULD CAUSE DANGEROUS CAVING OF THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD AREA IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH AND COULD INTERUPT THE EFFICIENT DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM.
OUTER DOOR HANDLES FREQUENTLY BREAK SOMETIMES COMING OFF COMPLETELY. THESE HANDLES PROVIDE BEST EMERGENCY ACCESS TO SMALL CHILDREN IN REAR CHILD SAFETY SEATS. LACK OF RELIABLE ACCESS POSSES SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK. *TR
I HAVE A CRACKING FRONT DASH, I HAVE SEVERAL CRACKS, ON THE RIGHT SIDE ABOVE THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AREA, AND A LARGER CRACK ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, THAT COACH IS ABOUT 9"

I BOUGHT THIS 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE BRAND NEW AN THIS IS THE 2ND CRACK ON MY DASH NOW IT HAS A LARGE CRACK NEXT TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG . I AM AFRAID OF THIS AIRBAG BEING PUNCTURED IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT . AND A PIECE OF THE DASH BREAKING OFF AND STABBING THE PASSENGER . GM NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS FAULTY DASH MATERIALS THAT WERE USED! THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED ASAP! THESE CRACKS HAPPENED WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING NORMALLY , THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN.
CRACKED DASH ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. CRACK OCCURRED OVER NIGHT IN THE GARAGE, NOT MOVING AND HAS HAD NO ACCIDENTS, NEVER HAS BEEN OFF ROAD.
THE DASH HAS TWO CRACKS AROUND THE AIRBAG HOUSING AND THREE OTHER CRACKS (2 OVER 5" LONG). CONCERN IS MAINLY AT AIRBAG LOCATION AS I AM NOT SURE IF THIS AFFECTS THE STABILITY OF THE AIRBAG, IF THE AIRBAG WILL PERFORM PROPERLY IN A COLLISION, OR IF THE PLASTIC PIECES WILL BECOME PROJECTILES IN THE EVENT OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 CHEVY TAHOE. A FEW MONTHS AGO I NOTICE A CRACK IN SEVERAL PLACES ON MY DASHBOARD. THE MOST VISIBLE CRACK WAS LOCATED NEXT TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I AM AFRAID THAT BECAUSE THIS CRACK IS NEXT TO THE AIRBAG IT MAY POSSIBLE CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES TO A PASSENGER OR CAUSE ME TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE DASH HAS MAJOR CRACKING AROUND THE AIRBAG AND ON TOP OF THE DASH IN THE AREA OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED IN APRIL 2010, HAD THE DASH REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY APPROXIMATELY SEPT/OCT 2010. THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED IN AUGUST 2012. SAME CRACKS IN DASH AROUND AIRBAG. I CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER IF THESE CRACKS COMPROMISE THE AIRBAG IN ANY WAY. OR IF THE VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WILL THE DASH PIECES BECOME AIRBORNE PROJECTILES. MY CAR'S DASH HAS BEEN CRACKED SINCE 2010 WHEN IT WAS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. THE CRACKS ARE ALL OVER, BUT SPECIFICALLY ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AND ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER (JOHN L. SULLIVAN, ROSEVILLE, CA) WHERE WE BOUGHT IT AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO - PRETTY TYPICAL OF A DEALERSHIP I FIND. SO I'VE JUST BEEN DEALING WITH IT; THAT AND NASTY CUTS ON MY FINGERS. I FINALLY TOOK A RAZOR AND SHAVED THE PIECES DOWN, BUT NOW THE WHITE PLASTIC OF THE HANDLE IS EXPOSED. IT LOOKS HORRIBLE. *TR
