DASH HAS CRACKED IN TWO SEPARATE AREAS. ONE ABOVE THE DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ONE ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. I CALLED TWO DIFFERENT CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, NEITHER OF WHICH WILLING TO CORRECT OR REPORT TO GM. ENTIRE REPAIR WOULD BE AT OWNER EXPENSE. DASH HAS HAD VERY LITTLE SUNLIGHT EXPOSURE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, SMOKE APPEARED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE CONTACT THREW SNOW ON THE VEHICLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OFF. SHE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR; HOWEVER, THE DEALER AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT KNOW WHO COULD REPAIR THE DAMAGE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS CAUSED THE FIRE. VEHICLE WAS VANDALIZED RESULTING IN REPLACEMENT OF 2007 MODEL DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL CLUSTER FROM GM. REPLACEMENT PART SUPERSEDED 2007 MODEL FOR THE 2008 MODEL, AS THE 2008 MODEL IS "BETTER" DESIGN. THE 2008 MODEL HOWEVER HAS A DIFFERENT COLOR BACKLIGHT DISPLAY, RESULTING IN UNCONTIGOUS LIGHTING ON THE INTERIOR. RESULTING IN FURTHER DETERIORATION OF VEHICLE VALUE. GM SPECIFICATIONS FAIL TO RECOGNIZE THE DIFFERENCE IN LIGHTING COLOR, AND ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE 2007 CLIMATE CONTROL CLUSTER. STILL WAITING FOR SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM AFTER 6 WEEKS OF WORKING WITH GM CORPORATE, AND LOCAL DEALERSHIP. *TR
THE DASHBOARD HAS 2 CRACKS ON IT. ONE ON THE DRIVER SIDES, TOWARDS THE DOOR, AND ONE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, IN THE MIDDLE, DIRECTLY ABOVE THE AIRBAG. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR DOOR HANDLES WERE BRAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE AIR BAG INDICATOR CONTINUOUSLY REMAINS ILLUMINATED IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS WERE NOT INFLATING PROPERLY. THE RETAINER CLIP WAS REPLACED AND THE INDICATOR WAS REPAIRED. THE INDICATOR IS CURRENTLY ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,665. UPDATED 03/09/09. *LJ THE AIR CONDITION BLEW OTU HOT AIR, THE DVD AND ONSTAR STOPPED WORKING AS WELL AS THE SEATS AND WINDOWS NO LONGER OPERATE. UPDATED 03/12/09. *JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 CHEVY TAHOE IN JULY OF 2007. SEPTEMBER 2007 I HAD TO TAKE THE SUV IN TO HAVE THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER CABLE REATTACHED TO THE REAR WINDOW, IT FELL OFF. AFTER DISCUSSING WITH SERVICE MANAGER, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A DESIGN DEFECT, THE WIRE WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH AND THE TENSION FROM OPENING THE REAR GLASS CAUSES THE CABLE TO BREAK FREE. THEY HAD A WINDOW COMPANY RE-ATTACH IT, ONE WEEK LATER, I WAS BACK IN AND A NEW REAR WINDOW WAS ORDERED. IN NOVEMBER 2008 I HAD THE CABLE BREAK FREE ON THE REPLACED REAR WINDOW, I HAD IT REPAIR, THAN THE OTHER SIDE DETACHED. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISE THAT IT COULD NOT BE FIXED BASED ON THE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE RELEASED SERVICE CORPORATION BULLETIN (#03-08-48-006E). I FEEL SINCE THIS BULLETIN WAS RELEASED, THIS IS A CONFESSION OF A DESIGN DEFECT AND THE CUSTOMER SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE. THEY ORDERED A NEW WINDOW AND IT WAS CHARGED TO MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY, I HAD TO PAY 100.00. I FEEL THIS IS AN ENGINEERING DESIGN ISSUE AND GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE IN A RECALL. *TR
THE DASH CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AT THE CORNER OF WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYS. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AGO A LARGER CRACK APPEARED ON THE DRIVER SIDE DASH ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. GM KNOWS THIS IS A RAMPANT ISSUE BUT FAILS TO SHOW INTEGRITY AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE THOUSANDS OF CRACKED DASHES IN TAHOE, YUKON, AVALANCHE, SIERRA, AND SILVERADO TRUCKS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V441000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE TECHNICIAN DISCONNECTED THE FUSE BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, HE NOTICED THAT THE INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD SPORADICALLY FLICKER ON AND OFF. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND IT CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE REMAINS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 33,000.
THERE ARE 2 CRACKS IN THE DASH. ONE CRACK IS 2" LONG, NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THE OTHER CRACK IS 7" LONG, DRIVER SIDE, "HUMP" ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM TO SEE IF ITS AN ANOMALY. IT ISN'T. I AM A MEMBER OF A FACEBOOK GROUP WHO HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR TAHOES AND SIMILAR MODELS. THE CRACKS ARE IN THE EXACT SAME LOCATION AMONGST HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, OF CONSUMERS. I AM WORRIED THE CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASH IS A HAZARD IF THE AIR BAG IS DEPLOYED. THE COST TO REPLACE THE DASH IS BETWEEN $1,000-$1,500. *TR
REAR DEFROST CABLE CAME OFF NUMEROUS TIMES HAD DEALER FIX AT LEAST TWICE AND THEN THEY REPLACED WHOLE BACK GLASS THEN CABLE STILL CONTINUED TO COME OFF . IT ONLY CAME OFF DURING MONTHS DEFROST WAS BEING USED, COLD WEATHER. CABLE CONNECTION SEEMED TO BE MELTING OFF FROM SOLDER. THIS TOO SEEMS TO BE COMMON AMONG 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOES. ALSO SINCE OWNING THIS TAHOE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE NEVER SEEMED TO BE WIPING FAST ENOUGH IN A HARD RAIN,( NOT A DOWNPOUR, JUST STEADY HEAVY RAIN) IT IS VERY HARD TO SEE THROUGH WINDSHIELD. WITH VEHICLES I HAVE OWNED IN THE PAST, MOSTLY CHEVROLETS, I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 55 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SPARKS UNDERNEATH THE HOOD WHERE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE HOUSED. HE WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER OFF THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD A LOUD "WHOOF" SOUND AS IF SOMETHING HAD IGNITED. HE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND DIALED 911. FLAMES APPEARED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE ARRIVED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS PROBABLY AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT IS WAITING TO HEAR IF THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 27,000.
VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE AND MAX OUT AT FUEL CUT-OFF. ACCELERATION IS UNRESPONSIVE TO BRAKE APPLICATION TO INCLUDE 100% APPLICATION, RESULTING IN SMOKE AND ODOR. VEHICLE CANNOT BE STOPPED OTHER THAN PLACING THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND TURNING THE IGNITION OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, RPM WILL IMMEDIATELY CLIMB TO IN EXCESS OF 5000 RPM. ACCELERATION PROBLEMS NORMALLY OCCUR AT HIGHER SPEEDS BUT HAVE OCCURRED ALSO ON CITY STREETS. THE PROBLEM THEN RESETS ITSELF AT ITS DISCRETION. CHEVEROLET HAS BEEN "WORKING" ON FINDING THE PROBLEM SINCE SEPTEMBER, TOTAL IN EXCESS OF 90 DAYS. I WAS PROVIDED WITH A VEHICLE DATA RECORDER (VDR) TO IMAGE THE ISSUE. VDR HAS A CABLE PLUGGED INTO VEHICLE COMPUTER THE DANGLES BETWEEN THE GAS/BRAKE PEDAL AND DRIVER POSING AN ADDITIONAL HAZARD. VEHICLE IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD LIKELY TO RESULT IN GREAT BODILY INJURY AND/OR DEATH. I AM UNABLE TO AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO ENJOY AND UTILIZE THE VEHICLE FOR THE PURPOSES TO WHICH IT WAS INTENDED FOR/PURCHASED AND HAVE BEEN PLACED IN A SEVERELY RISKY POSITION BY CHEVROLET. IN ADDITION, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER HAS BEEN COMPROMISED DUE TO FAILURE OF THE STABILITRAC WHERE IT ENGAGES AND DISENGAGES WITHOUT APPLICATION OF THE BUTTON. THIS ISSUE HAS ALSO BEEN RAISED WITH CHEVROLET BUT NO CODES WERE READ DUE TO THE VEHICLE BEING TURNED OFF, CAUSING A RESET (PER CHEVROLET). HOWEVER, WHEN STABILITRAC PROBLEM SURFACED YET AGAIN, PROBLEM WAS WITNESSED BY CHEVROLET SERVICE REP BUT NO WORK COULD BE DONE DUE TO AN OPEN TICKET WITH GMC REGARDING THE ACCELERATION ISSUE. CHEVROLET HAS DOWNLOADED IMAGES/INFORMATION FROM THE VDR AND HAS STATED THAT THERE IS/ARE ISSUES AND RESET AND RETURNED THE VDR TO ME REQUESTING AGAIN THAT I TAKE MORE IMAGES WHEN MY VEHICLE IS STUCK IN ACCELERATION AND TO BE CAREFUL. INITIAL ATTEMPT FOR THIS REPAIR IN SEPTEMBER NOTED "DRIVABLE CONCERN." PROBLEM IS RECURRING FROM 0-9 INCIDENTS EACH DAY. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AS WELL AS MYSELF. *TR
WE HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH OUR FRONT WIPERS TURNING ON AND SQUIRTING WIPER FLUID IN THE OFF (YES THE OFF) POSITION WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. THE CAR MUST BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO STOP THE WIPERS AND SQUIRTING FLUID. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 15 TIMES SINCE WE BOUGHT OUR NEW SUV. IT NEVER DOES IT WHEN WE BRING IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SO THEY CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, THERE WAS VERY DENSE WHITE SMOKE BEFORE THE WIPERS STARTED MOVING AND SHOOTING FLUID (ONCE AGAIN...IT WAS TOTALLY IN THE OFF POSITION!!!). NOW THE INTERMITTENT WIPER MODE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THESE OCCURRENCES ARE VERY, VERY DISTRACTING WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE! WE JUST RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR OUR 2007 TAHOE BUT I HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT POSSIBLE FIRE RISK BECAUSE I KNOW WE DEFINITELY HAVE AN ISSUE RELATED TO THE RECALL. CAN WE GET THE RECALL FIXED BEFORE NOVEMBER 1, 2008 AND STILL HAVE IT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL? THE LAST EPISODE WAS THIS MONTH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC LIFT GATE CLOSED WHILE STANDING AT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. AS A CONSEQUENCE THE RISK FOR SERIOUS INJURY IS INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE TECHNICIANS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 63,000.
2007 CHEVY TAHOE LTZ 3 OUT OF 4 EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ON OUTSIDE ARE BROKE. NOT ONLY IS IT AGGRAVATING BUT ALSO SAFETY ISSUE IF CHILD'S FINGERS GET STUCK OR IF THERE IS EMERGENCY OR ACCIDENT AND SOMEONE IS TRYING TO GET IN TO ASSIST YOU. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME THING ONLINE. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE IN MY 2007 CHEVY TAHOE HAS DRASTIC FLUCTUATIONS AND MIS-READINGS. I CAN GET IN THE TRUCK, START IT AND THE GAUGE MAY READ 1/4-1/2 FULL AND THE ESTIMATED GAS RANGE MAY SAY 130 MILES. I CAN THEN TURN THE TRUCK OFF, RESTART IT, AND THE READING SOMETIMES GOES DOWN TO EMPTY AND I'LL GET A "LOW FUEL" WARNING. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN VERY REGULARLY, BUT MOST OFTEN WHEN THE TANK IS AROUND 1/4 FULL (OR SUPPOSED TO BE 1/4 FULL). THIS CREATES SITUATIONS ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE I THINK I'VE GOT PLENTY OF TIME AND MILEAGE BEFORE HAVING TO FIND A GAS STATION. IF I STOP AT A REST STOP AND RESUME TRAVEL, MY READING MAY SUDDENLY GO TO LOW FUEL OR VERY LOW FUEL STATUS, IN THE MIDDLE OF NO-WHERE. MY SON IN LAW HAS A SIMILAR VEHICLE (2007, CADILLAC ESCALADE) BUILT ON THE SAME CHASSIS AND EXPERIENCES THE SAME ISSUE, SO I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS A PRODUCT DEFECT AT HAND. PLEASE HELP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES WERE SHARPE AND WERE BEGINNING TO CUT HER HAND WHEN SHE GRABBED THEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATLEY 42,000.
I WAS DRIVING ALONG AND THE SPEED CONTROL JUST STOPPED WORKING. I RESET IT AND THE FIRST BUMP IN THE ROAD IT STOPPED WORKING. WE TOOK IT FOR REPAIR AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT A YR. THEN THE SAME PROBLEM. WE HAD IT FIXED AGAIN AND IT LASTED ABOUT ANOTHER 2 YRS. IT HAS AGAIN FAILED SEVERAL TIMES TO WORK AT ALL AND THEN YOU CAN GET IN THE CAR AND START DRIVING AND IT WILL WORK. CURRENTLY, IT WON'T COME ON AT ALL...THIS APPARENTLY IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVY TAHOE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT 60 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT DROPS QUICKLY IN SPEED. ALSO, OUR TAHOE IS GARAGE KEPT AND ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I NOTICED A CRACK IN THE DASH BOARD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I SEE THAT THIS TOO IS A PROBLEM WITH THOUSANDS OF TAHOE. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHERE THE DOOR WINDOWS STOP WORKING, THE SEATS WON'T MOVE AND HAVE HAD THAT FIXED TWICE. WE ALSO HAVE HAD THE REAR DOOR STOP WORKING WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE. WE HAVE HAD THAT IN TO THE DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS. WE GAVE UP TAKING IT BACK. HERE AGAIN NO RECALLS. WE ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. THEY WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO. WHY HAVEN'T THESE ITEMS BEEN RECALLED BY GM. THE DEALERS KNOW THAT ITS A PROBLEM, BUT WE STILL HAVE TO PAY THE BILL TO GET IT FIXED. IF YOU LOOK ON HERE, THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. WE HAVE OWNED MANY CHEVYS INCLUDING CORVETTE AND 2 TAHOES BUT SINCE GM WON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS LIKE THEY SHOULD, WE WILL BE BUYING ANOTHER BRAND,NISSAN OR HONDA NEXT TIME. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT A USED CHEVROLET TAHOE FROM A DEALERSHIP AND UNFORTUNATELY THE VEHICLE MILEAGE IS OVER 36,000 MILES BUT IS ONLY A YEAR OLD. HERE IS MY COMPLAINT. MY AIRBAG SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING FROM TEXAS TO NEVADA AND DOES NOT SHUT OFF. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DO NOT COVER THIS ANYMORE SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR PARTS AND LABOR FOR SERVICING THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM COVERAGE SHOULD BE CONNECTED WITH MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY A YEAR OLD AND IT IS ALREADY GIVING ME AN AIRBAG SERVICING LIGHT. THERE HAVE BEEN REPEATED OCCURRENCES - BOTH UPON STARTING VEHICLE AND WHEN DRIVING - WHERE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON, FOLLOWED BY "SERVICE STABILITRAK" "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AND "ENGINE POWER REDUCED", ACCOMPANIED BY VERY ROUGH ENGINE NOISE AND THE INABILITY TO GO ABOVE 45 MPH. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IT HAPPENS ON A FREEWAY. AFTER VEHICLES SITS FOR AN HOUR OR SO, NORMAL ENGINE FUNCTION IS RESTORED. DEALER HAS REPLACED ACCELERATOR PEDAL A FEW TIMES, BUT HAS NO EXPLANATION FOR PROBLEM.
CHROME ON THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES PEELS AND GETS VERY SHARP. HAD REPLACED IN EITHER JULY OR AUGUST OF 08 UNDER WARRANTY. ITS NOW FEBRUARY AND ALREADY THEY ARE STARTING TO PEEL AGAIN. EXTERIOR MOLDINGS ON THE WINDOWS WERE POPPING UP EVERYTIME I ROLLED UP/DOWN THE WINDOWS OR AT HIGHER SPEEDS, THEY WERE ALSO REPLACED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, ALL OF THE AIR BAGS IN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DEPLOYED. THERE WAS NO CRASH AND NO PRIOR WARNING BEFORE THE DEPLOYMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO HIGH VOLTAGE. THE VEHICLE IS STILL CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 14,000. MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN VICTIMS OF THE FAULTY CHROME PLATING PEELING FROM THE INTERIOR DOOR RELEASE HANDLES,CAUSING A RAZOR TYPE CUT TO TIPS OF OUR FINGERS THEREFORE CAUSING LOSS OF BLOOD. THE INTERIOR DOOR RELEASE HANDLES HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 10 MONTHS RESULTING IN FAILURE SOON AFTER. THE LAST INCIDENT HAPPENED 6/28/2008 WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE WHICH CUT MY FINGER. THERE IS NO VISUAL WARNING WHEN THE CHROME PLATING SEAM FAILS, BUT TO RECEIVE THE RAZOR 'LIKE' CUT TO THE FINGER WHICH IS VERY PAINFUL. OUR LEVEL OF CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR CHILDREN AND FAMILY MEMBERS THAT HAVE BLOOD AILMENTS SUCH HAS DIABETES TYPE II,ENEMA, IS OF GREAT CONCERN. I HAVE BEEN SUBJECTED TO HAVING TO WRAP TAPE ON THE EXISTING HANDLES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPLACED TO PREVENT WHAT COULD CAUSE PERMANENT BODILY INJURY WHICH I FEEL IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. AFTER HEARING THE EXPLOSION, THE CONTACTS HUSBAND USED A GARDEN HOSE TO KEEP THE FLAMES AWAY FROM THE HOUSE. AN ADDITIONAL VEHICLE THAT BELONGS TO THE CONTACT WAS DAMAGED BY THE FIRE. THERE WAS ALSO PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE SIDING AND BRICKS ON THE HOUSE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, FILED A REPORT, AND STATED THAT THE CAUSE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE VEHICLE TO GENERAL MOTORS TO CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 9000.UPDATE 09/10/08 *CW UPDATED 09/17/08. *JB
I REPORTED TO CHEVROLET THAT MY TAHOE WAS MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. I ALSO INFORMED THEM THAT I HAD GONE TO A LOCAL SERVICE SHOP TO HAVE THREE WHEEL ALIGNMENTS AS THE TIRES WERE FEATHERING (INNER WEAR OF THE TIRE). DATE ARE 05/31/2008 WHEELS REPLACED(2) AND ALIGNMENT DONE. 07/15/2009 2 WHEELS REPLACED. 11/05/2009 ALIGNMENT DONE, 01/25/2010 ALIGNMENT DONE. DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A FAULTY INTERMEDIATE DRIVE SHAFT AFTER A WEEK LONG INSPECTION. SHAFT WAS REPLACED AT DEALER ON 02/2010. SERVICE ADVISOR STATES THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TIRE WEAR. *TR
MY DASH HAS CRACKED AND NOW HAS BROKEN A PIECE OFF, IT'S MADE VERY THIN AND NOT SURE WHY IT'S CRACKING SO MUCH.

WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. WE'VE HAD TIRES REPLACED TWICE, ROTORS, AND BRAKES RESURFACED, AND REAR-END DROPPED SO THE SPRINGS COULD BE ADJUSTED. BUT THE BIGGEST PROBLEM HAS BEEN WITH THE ROARING IN THE MOTOR. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN 20 DAYS ON AND OFF LOOKING FOR THIS NOISE. I'VE HAD IT TO THEM 8 TIMES OR SO TRYING TO FIND IT. THE NOISE DIDN'T START UNTIL AROUND 3,000 MILES, AND GETS WORSE AND EASIER TO DUPLICATE WITH MORE MILES. THE FIRST 7 VISITS THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS AND WAS CLUELESS TO IT, BUT THE LAST VISIT, AND 4 DAYS OF IT, THEY AND GM DECIDED IT WAS A "CHARACTERISTIC" OF THE VEHICLE, AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. WHILE PARKED AT A RESTAURANT MY TAHOE WAS BROKE INTO. THE THEFT WAS DONE WITH A SMALL FLAT HEAD SCREWDRIVER UNDER THE KEY LOCK IN THE SEAL BETWEEN THE HANDLE AND THE DOOR. I COULDN'T EVEN TELL. THE POLICE SHOWED ME WHERE TO LOOK AND SAID IT WAS VERY COMMON. I TOOK IT TO TWO DEALERSHIPS AND A BODY SHOP. ONE DEALER AND THE BODY SHOP SAID THAT THIS WAS VERY COMMON AND THE PREVIOUS YEAR MODEL HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THE ALARM DOESN'T GO OFF BECAUSE THE SCREWDRIVER IS SENSED AS A KEY. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE FILED A COMPLAINT BY ME AND CLOSED IT IN THE SAME PHONE CALL. THEY SAID TO TAKE IT UP WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY. IT SHOULD NOT BE THAT EASY TO BREAK INTO. IT IS GOING TO COST $700 TO REPLACE THE HANDLE AND PAINT THE DOOR AND I MUST REPLACE THE GPS UNIT THAT WAS STOLEN AND A CHECK TO MY BANK WAS ALSO TAKEN. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2007 TAHOE IN FEB. OF 2007. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS TO DATE. THE FIRST WAS THE A/C BLOWER WENT OUT. REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WAS REVERSED ON THE TWO RIGHT SIDE TIRES. RIGHT FRONT WAS ACTUALLY THE RIGHT REAR. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES ABOUT THE POOR MILEAGE I AM GETTING. 15.1 MPG OVERALL. 60% + OF MY DRIVING IS ON THE HIGHWAY. MY 2003 TAHOE GOT MUCH BETTER MILEAGE WITHOUT THE SO-CALLED "ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM". THEN AT 27,758 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION CRAPPED OUT WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC ON A BUSY ROAD. DRIVER-SIDE DOOR HANDLES (INNER AND OUTER) SPONTANEOUSLY FAIL TO OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. A MECHANICAL DEFECT (NOT ELECTRICAL). UNIT MANIPULATED UNTIL IT STARTED TO WORK FIRST SERVICE VISIT. ENTIRE DOOR HANDLE AND LOCK UNIT REPLACED SECOND OCCURRENCE. ENTIRE LOCK UNIT FELL INSIDE DOOR AT THIRD OCCURRENCE, TRUCK TO BE DROPPED OFF AT SHOP TOMORROW FOR MAINTENANCE. DOOR CURRENTLY WILL NOT OPEN. DRIVER MUST CLIMB OVER THE CONSOLE AND ENTER AND EXIT VEHICLE THROUGH THE PASSENGER-SIDE DOOR EVERY TIME THIS PROBLEM OCCURS. JULY OF 2008 TOOK TO BOB STALL CHEVROLET FOR OIL CHANGE AND ASKED FOR IT TO BE CHECKED (AS WELL AS POWER SYSTEM) RETURNED TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE AND THEY INSISTED TRANNY WAS FINE AS THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES. I MENTIONED POWER ISSUE AND THEY CLAIMED TO NOT HAVE TIME TO TEST (THEY HAD THE TRUCK ALL DAY, IT WAS ALSO NOT ON THE ROLL) UNSATISFIED I RETURNED AGAIN WITH THE TRUCK FOR ANOTHER ISSUE (MOLDINGS) AND ASKED FOR IT TO BE TESTED. RECEIVED MY TRUCK AT END OF DAY WITH MOLDINGS FIXED BUT ONLY AN ASSURANCE MY TRANSMISSION WAS FINE AND ALL WAS NORMAL, NOT EVEN MENTION OFF BATTERY PROBLEM. I RETURNED THEN A THIRD TIME TO DEALER AND HAD TO INSIST THEY DRIVE THE TRUCK AND FULL TEST TRANSMISSION. AFTER HAVING MY TRUCK A FULL DAY I FINALLY WAS INFORMED THAT YES MY TRANNY HAD A PROBLEM. THEIR TRANNY TECH DROVE IT AND NOTED THE PROBLEM IN LOWER GEARS AND AFTER INSPECTION (OPENED UP TRANSMISSION) DISCOVERED BURNT BANDS. MY TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT WITH 2 CLUTCH PACKS REPLACED. ISSUE OF ROLL BACK WAS CLAIMED TO BE NORMAL. IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS FOR THIS ISSUE TO BE TAKEN CARE OF AND I FEEL THE DIVERSION WA SINTENTIONAL.. A FEW MORE MILES.. OUT OF WARRANTY.. I OWN A NEW 2007 CHEVY TAHOE THAT I PURCHASED ON 2/22/07 FOR $49K. ON DEC 31ST, 2007 I CAME HOME FROM WORK AT 3PM AND PARKED MY CAR IN OUR ATTACHED GARAGE (CAR OBVIOUSLY TURNED OFF). AT 3:45PM MY WIFE STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE -- UPON ENTERING THE GARAGE I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS SMOKING (FIRE DEPT THINKS ITS ELECTRICAL IN NATURE - DEFINITELY SMELLED LIKE IT WAS). I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM AT ALL WITH THIS CAR AND KEPT UP WITH ALL MAINTENANCE ONLY USING THE GM DEALERSHIP FOR WORK. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE FIRE DEPT -- WHEN THE POLICE AND FIRE MADE IT TO THE SCENE THE ENGINE BURST INTO FLAMES. MY ONE YEAR OLD SON WAS SLEEPING IN HIS ROOM RIGHT ABOVE THE GARAGE. THERE ARE A LOT OF "WHAT IFS" THAT GO THROUGH YOUR HEAD IF WE HAD NOT SMELLED THE SMOKE AND THE CAR BLEW UP. NOT EVEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THAT THERE WAS ANOTHER CAR RIGHT NEXT TO THE TAHOE WHICH WAS FULL OF GAS. GM HAS GIVEN ME THE RUN AROUND AND DOES NOT FEEL THAT MY CAR DESERVES TO BE REPLACED. THEY ARE VERY HAPPY LETTING MY INSURANCE PAY FOR THE DAMAGE TO MY HOUSE AND LETTING ME SUFFER A $16K LOSS OUT OF POCKET FOR THIS INCIDENT. ON MY NEW CHEVY TAHOE, 2007, THE TRANSMISSION HAS SLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES (50+) OVER THE LAST 20,000 MILES. EACH OCCURRENCE WAS MINOR AND WHEN MENTIONED TO THE DEALER AT NORMAL SERVICE INTERVALS WAS TOLD WAS COMMON FOR A TRUCK (I.E. THEY ARE STIFF WHEN COLD, CAN DO THAT WHEN YOU GO AROUND A CORNER, ETC.) THIS FINALLY CULMINATED WITH COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE REPAIR OFFERED BY CHEVY IS TO JUST REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART WITH A LIKE PART THAT THE MECHANIC BELIEVES IS NOT DIFFERENT. HENCE WE SWAPPED A FAILED DEFECTIVE PART WITH THE SAME DESIGN THAT I MUST ASSUME WILL FAIL AGAIN! THIS IS NOT A FIX AND ONLY DELAYS THE INEVITABLE ONCE AGAIN. MAYBE NEXT TIME IT WILL BREAK WHEN PASSING OR OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE? THE GEAR IS CALLED A SPRAG GEAR AND ALL THE GM DEALERSHIPS ARE SILENTLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *TR

ASKED FOR SYSTEM TO BE TESTED AGAIN JULY AND AUGUST 08 (BOB STALL CHEVROLET) AND IT WAS NOT DONE CURRENTLY HAVING BATTERY PROBLEM AGAIN BUT NOW IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND GM WILL NOT PAY FOR DIAGNOSIS EVEN THOUGH ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED UNDER WARRANTY. SOME MORNINGS TRUCK WILL NOT START, OTHER TIMES IT HAS BEEN WE SAT PARKED FOR 10 MINUTES AND THEN TRUCK WOULD NOT START. I FEEL THERE IS A DEFECT IN OUR POWER SYSTEM BUT GM AND THE DEALERS REFUSE TO INVESTIGATE UNLESS I PAY THEM FOR DIAGNOSIS.. I WILL BE GETTING DIAGNOSIS FROM A PART STORE BEFORE I PAY FOR IT.
