The oil keeps disappearing in the car I fill it with 7 Quartz of oil and two months or less it’s all gone I heard there was a issue with this before but no recall my engine almost blew two weeks after a oil change I thought that’s wrong I have oil so I had it reset then three months later my engine was ticking so I took it in and there was no oil they put 7 more quartz of oil and no again it’s all gone I had more put back in and I think this should be a recall I called the dealer and they said they won’t do anything unless I pay for it to be fixed but it’s been a known issue for years and they don’t do nothing about it I am a young person that doesn’t have $3,000 to pay to fix this issue I believe Chevy should.

TL* THE CONTACT COMMITED TO A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE AT AN AUCTION. WHILE TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT ANY SPEED, THE CHECK ENGINE AND REDUCE ENGINE POWER WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 156,000.
OUR 2007 CHEVY TAHOE HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND THEN PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO HOURS. UPON STARTING THE TAHOE WITH COLD ENGINE AND PULLING AWAY FROM THE CURB THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE SMELL OF SOMETHING TOXIC COMING FROM THE AIR VENTS FOLLOWED BY BLACK SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND TURNED OFF AND LESS THAN A MINUTE LATER THERE WERE FLAMES EMANATING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND WITHIN A COUPLE OF MINUTES THE HOOD WAS BLOWN OPEN AND THE ENTIRE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES.
TRUCK REQUIRES A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1500 MILES. I KNEW IT WAS A GAS HOG BUT SURPRISED WHEN IT BURN AS MUCH OIL AS FUEL. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM.

ENGINE BEGAN BURNING OIL AT A RATE OF 2 1/2 QUARTS PER 1500 MILES, SAW PROBLEM WITH ENGINE LISTED WITH NHTSA WEBSITE, ASKED DEALERSHIP ABOUT ISSUE AROUND 122,000 MILES BUT WAS TOLD NOT AWARE OF PROBLEMS, DIDNT GET HELP UNTIL 135000 MILES FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND HAD TO PAY FOR HALF TO HAVE ENGINE REBUILT
A POP WAS HEARD UNDER THE ENGINE AREA AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT THE CAR BEGAN TO IDLE VERY ROUGH. IT WOULD NOT RUN PROPERLY AND HAD TO PULL OFF THE STREET INTO A GAS STATION. INSIDE THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE STABILITRAK SERVICE SOON LIGHT WERE ON. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES WE TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN, WE DECIDED TO MOVE AGAIN AND THE IDLING WAS WORSE. THE STABILITRAK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WERE FLASHING ON AND OFF. WE BEGAN TO MOVE BUT THE CAR WAS IDLING VERY BAD AND SHIFTING VERY HARD AFTER A FEW FEET OF MOVEMENT. WE DROVE THE CAR TO THE NEAREST FIRESTONE DEALER TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. FIRESTONE CALLED TO NOTIFY US THAT THE CYLINDER #1 WAS EITHER STUCK/FROZE AND THAT WE WOULD NEED TO OPEN THE CYLINDERCOVER TO SEE EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG. THE NEXT DAY FIRESTONE NOTIFIED US THAT THE CYLINDER ROD WAS BROKEN AND THAT WE NEEDED TO DO A CYLINDER REPLACEMENT ON THE CAR. THE CAR ONLY HAD 88K MILES AND WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS, THIS IS TOO EARLY TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES. I FOUND SOME ARTICLES ON-LINE WHERE THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH GM AND THAT THE 20007-08, 5.3L V8 ENGINES, THE FIRST WITH THE FLEX FUEL SYSTEM, ARE STARTING TO FAIL AT THE 80K PLUS MILES RANGE. WE HAVE HAD OUR SERVICE PERFORMED AT OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND THE CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED WELL. IT IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR THAT SHOULD NOT BE REQUIRED ON A CAR WITH LOW MILES AND GOOD MAINTENANCE RECORDS. FIRESTONE HAS FIXED THE CAR FOR $2,600.00 DOLLARS, AND CAR RENTAL FEES. THIS ENGINE FAILURE IS A DEFECT AND A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW AND WE AS CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR WITHOUT ANY HELP FROM GM IF THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT FILED A FORMAL RECALL ON THIS MODEL YEAR ENGINE. THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS CONDITION IF YOUR DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR LOOSES THE ENGINE PERFORMANCE AT HIGH SPEEDS. *TR
DROVE CAR ACROSS TOWN (2 MILES @ 25 MPH); PARKED CAR FOR 15 SECONDS. CAR STARTED TO SMOKE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT. GOT OUT, POPPED HOOD AND ENGINE ALREADY ON FIRE. CALLED 911, FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED WITHIN 10 MINUTES. CAR TOWED. CAR TOTALED BY INSURANCE COMPANY. GM CONTACTED, LOOKED AT PICTURES OF BURNT ENGINE WE EMAILED TO THEM, GM WILL NOT PHYSICALLY INSPECT VEHICLE, BUT TOLD US THE TAHOE WAS TOO BURNT UP TO DETERMINE CAUSE OF FIRE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LIFTERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
OUR EXTRA THIRD VEHICLE TAHOE, IS DRIVEN ON THE WEEKENDS OR WHEN THE ENTIRE FAMILY IS GOING OUT. ON OCTOBER 10TH, WE NOTICE A KNOCKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING IDLE. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP ON OCTOBER 11TH AND WAS TOLD WE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE OR TO BUY A NEW VEHICLE. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC ON OCTOBER 13TH FOR A SECOND OPINION AND WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS 2 QUARTS LOW IN OIL. WHICH WAS A MAJOR RED FLAG TO THE MECHANIC. NOW, WE HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW ENGINE. *TR
TRUCK BURNS AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF ENGINE OIL. I HAVE TO ADD A QUART ABOUT EVERY 800-1000 MILES. I KNOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND A MANUFACTURER ERROR WITH THE ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT CONTROL.
I PURCHASED MY 2007 TAHOE TO BE THE LAST CAR I WOULD NEED TO BUY AS I AM NEAR RETIREMENT. I AM VERY WORRIED NOW THAT IT WILL NEED SOME MAJOR REPAIRS TO CORRECT THE OIL CONSUMPTION. CHEVROLET SHOULD COVER THESE REPAIRS AS IT IS OBVIOUS THERE IS A DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE AND THOUSANDS OF USERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. FOR THE ENORMOUS COST OF THE VEHICLE I EXPECTED BETTER. I SHOULD HAVE KEPT MY OLD 1998 TAHOE. IT PROBABLY WOULD STILL BE RUNNING AND WOULDNT NEED OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.

MY CHEVY TAHOE HAS HAD AN OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUE SINCE PURCHASE IN 2007. THE OIL LIGHT WILL COME ON AFTER 2500 MILES AFTER A RECENT SERVICE AND STATED THAT THE LEVEL IS LOW. TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY CONTINUE TO STATE IT IS "NORMAL" OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS IS NOT NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM.
WHILE DRIVING 72 MPH ON HIGHWAY STABILITRAK LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND FLASHING ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE BOGGED DOWN WITH NO POWER. AFTER ALMOST GETTING HIT BY 2 SEMIS I GOT THE TRUCK OFF THE ROAD.. I HAVE READ UP ON THIS ISSUE AND CHEVY NEEDS A RECALL ON THIS.. SOMEONE IS GONNA GET KILLED. *TR

THE OIL LEVEL LOW LIGHT CAME ON IN THE CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC. HE ALSO HAS A 2007 TAHOE. HE TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER. HE HAS SEEN THIS MANY TIMES IN THE 2007 TAHOE, APPARENTLY THEY BURN OIL AND IT IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF THE PISTON AND PISTON RING. THE DEALER PAID FOR HIS TAHOE TO BE FIXED. I WAS TOLD THAT GM NOW USES A MINIMUM PARTICIPATION FINANCIAL CALCULATOR AND GM WOULD ONLY PAY FOR 45% OF THE COST TO REPAIR, LEAVING ME WITH A $1,705.10 REPAIR BILL. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE REPAIR COST DOWN TO $850. HOWEVER, THIS CAR IS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE NOT EVEN FINISHED PAYING FOR THE CAR AND THE DEALER IS TELLING ME I NEED A NEW ENGINE DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. I THINK GM NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING HERE AND REPAIR THEIR FLAWED 2007 TAHOES. GM CLEARLY KNOWS OF THE FLAW AS THEY REDESIGNED THE 2008 PISTON AND PISTON RING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED UNDER AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST FOR 100 MILES AND DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A HEAVIER OIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM WITH THAT MODEL YEAR ENGINE, AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE IN 3 TIMES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THE INSTALLED OIL DEFLECTOR PER TSB, STILL HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. VEHICLE STILL USES 1.5 QUARTS OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES, ALL MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE BY THE BOOK BY THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM. *TR
