I PURCHASED A 2009 CHEVY TAHOE USED AND A KNEW ABOUT THE CRACKING DASHES SO I MADE SURE THE ONE I PURCHASED DIDN'T HAVE ANY CRACKS. I THOUGHT MAYBE THEY HAD RESOLVED THE ISSUE. WELL, AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS THE OTHER DAY I LOOKED OVER AD NOTICED AND CRACK IN MY DASH RIGHT AT THE AIRBAG. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING AS I HAVE 3 KIDS THAT RIDE IN THAT CAR AND IF THE AIRBAG GOES OFF I'M AFRAID THE PLASTIC WILL ACT LIKE SHRAPNEL AND REALLY HURT SOMEONE. GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND I CONTACTED THEM ABOUT IT AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. MORE PEOPLE NEED TO COME FORWARD ON THIS MATTER AND GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT FAST BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.

DASH HAS A 7 INCH CRACK ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF 2009 TAHOE AND I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
DASH HAS CRACKED BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND ALSO ON THE DRIVER SIDE AT THE JOINT AND CLIMBING TOWARDS THE STEERING HUMP. THE CRACKS SHOWED UP ALMOST AT THE SAME TIME. NO IMPACT TO THE DASH AND ONLY WIPE THEM DOWN WITH A DAMP CLOTH OR DUSTER.
I REPORTED THIS SEVERAL TIMES TO CHEVROLET I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THEIR RESEARCH. I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES IN MY CAR. SOMETIMES WHILE BRAKING THE BRAKES WILL AUTOMATICALLY DISENGAGE AND YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE BEING THROWN FORWARD. I TOOK THIS TO SEVERAL CHEVY DEALERSHIPS WHILE MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY COULD NEVER FIND THE ISSUE. I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND SINCE MY WARRANTY EXPIRED THEY TOLD ME, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DIAG. I FEEL THAT SINCE I DID REPORT THIS WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR MORE DIAG. MY DASHBOARD DEVELOPED A CRACK ABOVE THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT APPROXIMATELY 9 MONTHS AGO. AN EVEN BIGGER SECOND CRACK DEVELOPED ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. MY VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT AND WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I FEAR THESE CRACKS MAY IMPACT THE ELECTRONICS FOR THE AIRBAG.

TAKATA RECALL AIRBAG INFLATOR IS TAKING TOO LONG. GM SENT AN INITIAL LETTER LAST YEAR; JULY 2016. I AM DRIVING AROUND IN FLORIDA; HOT AND HUMID. STRESS IS BUILDING AS NEW TAHOES ARE ROLLING OFF ASSEMBLY LINES, BUT NO PARTS CAN BE SPARED TO FIX AN "OVER TIME" SERIOUS INJURY. I HAVE 3 REFERENCE NUMBERS; BUT NO PARTS. CAN U HELP?

THE DASHBOARD IN THE TAHOE HAS CRACKED. THE CRACK JUST SHOWED UP OVERNIGHT. WE WENT OUT ONE MORNING TO GO SOMEWHERE AND THE CRACK WAS THERE.
BOTH DOOR HANDLES ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE ARE THIS SILVER PLASTIC THAT HAS BEGAN TO PEEL UP JUST ON TOP OF THE HANDLE EXACTLY WHERE YOU GRAB TO OPEN THE DOOR. MYSELF AS WELL SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE SLICED THEIR FINGER OPEN PRETTY BAD ON MY DOOR HANDLES. VERY POOR QUALITY.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY GM CAN PUT THE REPLACEMENT OF TAKATA AIR BAGS OFF AND PUT MY FAMILY IN DANGER. I UNDERSTAND OTHER CAR MANUFACTURES HAVE ALREADY STARTED REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS. DON'T THEY KNOW THERE IS A DANGER. THE STATEMENT FROM GM TO ME IS IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE MY CAR. IF SO WHY DO THEY HAVE A RECALL AT ALL?

"TAKATA RECALL" I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY CAR OVER TWO YEARS AGO FOR DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS MADE BY TAKATA. WHEN I ASKED MY DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT I WAS TOLD AT THE TIME THERE WAS NOT A FIX. EVERY TIME I RETURN FOR SERVICE I ASK ABOUT THE RECALL AND I AM TOLD THE SAME THING. TWO YEARS IS TOO LONG SINCE IT COULD AFFECT MY FAMILY. I HAVE TWO KIDS AND I AM SCARED EVERY TIME WE GO IN MY CAR FOR FEAR OF THE AIR BAG EXPLODING AND KILLING MY FAMILY WITH FLYING METAL. TWO YEARS US WAY TOO LONG. REPLACE THE BAGS AND KEEP PEOPLE SAFE AND PREVENT LAWSUITS FROM HAPPENING.

VERY COMMON ISSUE FROM WHAT I HAVE READ. VEHICLE GARAGE KEPT. CRACKS OCCUR IN SAME LOCATION ON HUNDREDS OF CHEVROLET VEHICLES.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN MAY 2016 TELLING ME MY AIRBAGS WERE DEFECTIVE AND BEING RECALLED, HOWEVER THERE IS NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY AVAILABLE OVER A YEAR LATER. I AM BEING TOLD MY VEHICLE IS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE. I KNOW THAT, IT IS JUST NOT SAFE IN AN ACCIDENT - IF I KNOW WHEN I WILL GET IN AN ACCIDENT I WOULD HAVE WON A LOTTERY BY NOW. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THE AIRBAGS NEED TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY!!

WHY IS THERE NO REMEDY FOR MY VEHICLE AND ALL OTHER VEHICLES AFFECTED ALMOST 3 YEARS LATER? I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT THE LENGTH OF TIME IT IS TAKING. I SPOKE TO A DEALERSHIP WHO SAID PARTS AREN'T AVAILABLE YET AND THEY GAVE ME THE NUMBER TO GM/CHEVROLET. WHEN I CONTACTED GM/CHEVROLET THEY TOLD ME, THE DECISION FROM THE NHTSA HASN'T BEEN MADE, THEY HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE TO SHIP OUT TO DEALERSHIPS, BUT ARE NOT ABLE TO UNTIL THE DECISION IS GIVEN ON WHAT VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED. THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM GM/CHEVROLET GAVE ME THE PHONE NUMBER TO THE NHTSA TO CONTACT THEM AND SEE IF THEY HAD ANY OTHER INFORMATION ON HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO RESOLVE THIS RECALL. I SPOKE WITH BEAU FROM NHTSA ON 5/25/2018 AT 1:23PM PST, AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE PETITION HAD BEEN DECLINED IN 2017, AND THAT HE DIDN'T KNOW WHY GM/CHEVROLET HASN'T UPDATED THEIR INFORMATION. HE TOLD ME THE NHTSA WEBSITE IT UPDATED EVERYDAY AND I COULD CHECK THE STATUS THERE. WHEN I CHECKED THE STATUS, THIS IS WHAT CAME UP. SAME THING GM/CHEVROLET TOLD ME, THERE IS STILL A PENDING RESOLUTION. WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE TAKEN CARE OF? THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE; HOWEVER, THEY STATED THAT DUE TO THE RESULT OF THEIR TESTING, THEY HAD NO REASON TO BELIEVE THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE MODEL WOULD BE AT RISK. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET TAHOE HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT AND VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS RANDOMLY FLASHED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER RANDOMLY SHORTED OUT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH. ALSO, THERE WAS A DRASTIC REDUCTION IN SPEED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXTREME FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE DUE TO THE SUDDEN FAILURE. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO REVIEW THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES, BUT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THERE IS A LARGE CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD RUNNING PARALLEL WITH THE FRONT WINDSHIELD OF THE CAR. IT EXTENDS FROM DRIVER SIDE TO PASSENGER SIDE UP TO THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. IT ALSO SPLITS IN TWO SEPARATE AREAS OFF THE HORIZONTAL CRACK. ONE ABOUT 2 INCHES PERPENDICULAR TO THE LARGE CRACK NEAR THE DRIVER SIDE AND ANOTHER PERPENDICULAR CRACK CLOSER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT EXTENDS 1-2 INCHES AWAY FROM THE LARGER CRACK. MY CAR HAS BEEN STORED IN THE GARAGE FROM DAY ONE. I DID NOT NOTICE HOW LONG AGO THIS CRACK BEGAN.

VEHICLE WAS MOVING AT NORMAL SPEED AND THE DASH CRACKED BY THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG
I BOUGHT THE 2009 USED CHEVY TAHOE ON AUGUST 1ST 2015. I BEGAN TO NOTICE THE PLASTIC DASHBOARD CLOSE TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG BEGAN TO CRACK AND VIBRATE. THE VIBRATION GOT SO BAD THAT THE CRACK SPREAD AND A NEW CRACK APPEARED ON THE PLASTIC DASH ABOVE THE SPEEDOMETER. BOTH CRACKS MAKE THE ENTIRE DASH RATTLE WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN OVER 45 MPH. I AM WORRIED THAT IF THE AIRBAGS WERE TO DEPLOY, THE PLASTIC WILL FLY INTO THE PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. I'VE TRIED CONTACT COVERT GMC IN AUSTIN, TX WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID I HAD TO SPEND $1300 TO REPLACE THIS DEFECT.

THE ACTUATOR IN THE PASSENGER DRIVER DOOR BECAME INOPERABLE. ONCE THAT WAS FIXED, BOTH THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER DOOR STARTED HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM SINCE IT'S AFFECTING MULTIPLE DOORS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET TAHOE HYBRID. AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND APROACHING A STOP, THE VEHICLE WAS SUPPOSED TO SHIFT FROM GAS TO ELECTRIC. HOWEVER, IT INVOLUNTARILY ACCELERATED EVEN WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE, IT HAD TO BE SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS PREMATURE DETERIORATION ON THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES OF THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HANDLES WERE FRAYING WITH SHARP EDGES. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THE TWO FRONT INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA10004 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGE, STRUCTURE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,700.
THERE IS A CRACK IN THE AIRBAG AREA OF THE DASHBOARD. I REPORTED THIS TO GM IN MARCH 2016 AND THEY REFUSE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. TODAY, THERE IS A NEW CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE NOW. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE CARS. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY 2007 CHEVY AVALANCHE, AND IN 2010, GM REPLACED IT WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. NOW WITH THE TAHOE, THEY REFUSE. THE VEHICLE IS PARKED UNDER A GARAGE AWNING AND WE NEVER USE ANYTHING BUT A DRY RAG TO CLEAN THE DASHBOARDS. THIS IS NO FAULT OF OURS, AND APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH CHEVY MANUFACTURING.
THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2009 CHEVROLET TAHOE IS CRACKED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE THE AIRBAG IS LOCATED. I SEE MANY CHEVY TAHOE OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL YET AND IT SEEMS THAT THIS PROBLEM COULD NOT ONLY GET WORST BUT POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS BASED ON THE LOCATION OF THE CRACK.
