MY AIRBAG HAS MALFUNCTIONED. THE LIGHT REMAINS ON AND I WAS FORCED TO HAVE IT REPAIRED EVEN THOUGH MANY OTHER MODELS OF MY VEHICLES WERE UNDER A RECALL ON BOTH FRONTAL AND DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAGS. MY VIN# DIDN'T APPLY BUT WAS SHOWING ALL OF THE PROBLEMS LISTED UNDER THE OTHER MODELS RECALL. IT WAS ABOUT $450 TO REPLACE THE MALFUNCTIONING COIL WHICH I HAD DONE AT THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP. *TR
2003 TRAILBLAZER EXT, BEGAN TO HAVE STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE AFTER OPERATION. NO SIGNS OF VISIBLE GAS NOTED UNDER VEHICLE. PROBLEM PERSISTED, (APPROX 1 MONTH) AND GASOLINE BECAME OBVIOUS IN LIQUID FORM DRIPPING FROM BOTTOM OF TANK AND FRAMING OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE TAKEN TO LOCAL MECHANIC AND FUELPUMP/MODULATOR CHANGED AND PROBLEM RESOLVED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE BULB HAD FAILED. THE CONTACT PERSONALLY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
THE REAR WINDOW IN THE GATE ON MY 2003 TRAILBLAZER HAS BECOME DISCONNECTED ON ONE SIDE AT THE HINGE. IT APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THE WAY IT IS ADHERED (VIA SOME SORT OF GLUE) AS THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE AREA ITSELF. AS MY VEHICLE IS AN EXT MODEL, IT HAS A SECTION ACROSS THE VERY TOP THAT IS ALSO SIMPLY GLUED TO THE BODY WHICH HOLDS THE CENTRALLY MOUNTED BRAKE LIGHT. I'VE NOTICED SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE LAST YEAR THAT THIS SECTION WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES IN CONTACT WITH THE ROOF WHEN YOU OPEN THE MAIN GATE & SEEMS REALLY LOOSE HOT WEATHER. TODAY, WHEN I OPENED THE REAR LATCH/GATE I HEARD AN UNUSUAL SOUND AND WHEN I CLOSED THE GATE & INSPECTED IT I NOTED THAT THE WINDOW PORTION APPEARED SKEWED. UPON FURTHER EXAMINATION OF THE WINDOW AREA I DISCOVERED THAT THE PASSENGER-SIDE WINDOW HINGE HAD SEPARATED FROM THE GATE & WAS NO LONGER FORMING A SEAL. AS THERE WAS NO PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE AREA (THE HINGE SIMPLY LIFTED RIGHT AWAY FROM THE AREA IT WAS GLUED TO), ONE WOULD ASSUME THAT THIS MUST A DEFECT IN ASSEMBLY & MAY AFFECT SIMILAR VEHICLES. IF THE OTHER HINGE WERE TO ALSO SEPARATE THE ENTIRE GLASS ASSEMBLY WOULD NO LONGER BE ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN CAUSING A COLLISION OR OTHER INCIDENT TO VEHICLES FOLLOWING THE AFFECTED VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY, OTHER DAMAGE CAUSED BY RAIN/ELEMENTS WOULD ALSO BE A CONCERN WITH THE LACK OF PROPER SEAL BETWEEN THE WINDOW & THE REAR GATE. *TR
THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY IN A FRONT-END COLLISION THAT WILL MOST LIKELY TOTAL THE VEHICLE. THE OTHER VEHICLE'S DID DEPLOY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT. WHEN THE CONTACT PULLED AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN AND MADE A RIGHT TURN, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OPENED ON ITS OWN. AS A RESULT, ANOTHER VEHICLE ALMOST STRUCK THE DOOR. THE CONTACT COULD NOT CLOSE THE DOOR RIGHT AWAY BECAUSE HE ONLY HAS ONE ARM; THEREFORE, THE DOOR REMAINED OPEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 500 FEET. THE CONTACT HAD TO SECURE THE DOOR WITH A BUNGEE CORD. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND WAS CHARGED $105. HE WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST $600. BECAUSE HE IS ON DISABILITY, HE CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AFFECTS 3 OUT OF THE 4 DOORS ON THE VEHICLE WHEN MAKING RIGHT TURNS. THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER SIDE DOORS OPEN AND, WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OPENS AS WELL. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. SPEEDOMETER ON OUR 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER STARTED ACTING ERRATICALLY--NEVER GOING DOWN TO ZERO, GOING UP TO 80 OR ABOVE FOR NO REASON, ETC.--ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. IN A MATTER OF WEEKS, AFTER THE FIRST ONSET OF THE PROBLEM, IT STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER AND HAS NOT MOVED ABOVE ZERO SINCE. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE WHOLE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THE ISSUE WITH THE SPEEDOMETER. LUCKILY, ALL OF THE OTHER GAUGES ARE STILL FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AS OF RIGHT NOW BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND IN MY RESEARCH OF THIS ISSUE IT SEEMS TO BE ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THEY ALL WILL CEASE TO FUNCTION PROPERLY AS WELL. I HAVE SEEN AND READ MANY REPORTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT I AM SURE IT WOULD BE SAFE TO SAY THAT THERE ARE MANY MORE INSTANCES THAT HAVE GONE UNREPORTED. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKELY OR MERELY COINCIDENTAL THAT SO MANY TRAILBLAZERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE VERY SAME INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE. *TR
2003 TRAILBLAZER TRANSMISSION FAILURE. DRIVING IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD (25 MPH) HEARD A LOAD CLUNK ( LIKE SOMETHING EITHER HIT OR FELL OF THE VEHICLE), THEN A HIGH PITCHED WHINING SOUND, GOT THE VEHICLE HOME (11PM). IN THE MORNING, TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO BE LOOKED AT FOUND THAT I HAD NO REVERSE, HAD TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE GARAGE. I HAVE A EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT HAVE GIVEN FIRESTONE PERMISSION TO REPLACE WITH A REBUILD UNIT FROM GM. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT MY WARRANTY WILL COVER, BUT BELIEVE THAT GM SHOULD FOOT THE BILL, SINCE THIS HAD BEEN A REPORTED PROBLEM FOR THIS TRANSMISSION FOR YEARS. *TR
HEADLIGHTS CONTINUE TO TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING A DANGEROUS CONDITION. *TR
I FILLED MY GAS TANK ON MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT. AND GOT A GAS SMELL, SHORTLY AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THERE IS A LEAK IN THE FILL AND FUEL PUMP AREA I GUESS. I WAS REFERRED TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS FOR THIS DEFECT AND CAME ACROSS THIS. THE GARAGE DID A TEMP. REPAIR WITH SILICON THAT ONLY LASTED 3 WEEKS. NOW THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING. I WOULD HAVE TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK TO FIX THIS ISSUE. *TR
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN ACTING UP. IT IS NOW BURIED PAST THE TOP REGISTERED SPEED. IT WILL VARY FROM TIME TO TIME, BUT IS, FOR THE MOST PART, NON-WORKING. IT WILL SHOW THAT I AM AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SITTING IDLE OR IN PARK. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND FROM WHAT I CAN SEE, I AM NOT ALONE WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN AND I FEEL THAT GM NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. *TR
THE MIDDLE HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER WOULD NOT BLOW AIR. THE DEFROST AND FLOOR BLOWER DID BLOW OUT AIR. AS OF NOVEMBER 2008 NONE OF THE BLOWERS BLOW OUT AIR EXCEPT FOR BRIEF OCCASIONS. IF THE BLOWER DOES WORK THEN THIS CREATES A PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WON'T SHUT OFF AND THE BATTERY GOES DEAD. I'VE READ ABOUT SEVERAL OWNERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. THE SUGGESTED TEMPORARY FIX FOR THIS ISSUE IS TO LOOK UP FROM THE GAS PEDAL AND THERE ARE TWO UNITS, ONE CONTROLS THE DEFROST AND FOOT BLOWER AND ONE CONTROLS THE MIDDLE BLOWER WHICH IS HARDER TO GET TO. IT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED THAT THERE THERE IS A PIN FOR EACH UNIT THAT SLIPPED OUT AND NEEDS TO BE RECONNECTED. ONE CUSTOMER INDICATED IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS MEANT TO FALL OUT AT SOME POINT, IN OTHER WORDS FOR GM TO MAKE REVENUE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AND I REQUEST THAT THIS IS CONSIDERED AS A RECALL AND GM IMMEDIATELY FIX THIS ISSUE AT NO COST. GM HAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATED QUOTE OF $800 - $900 TO FIX THE ACTUARY. TRAILBLAZER LS 2003 HAS PROBLEMS WITH CODE P0442 AND CHECKED OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM SAME VEHICLES (2002) ISSUED IN THE PAST. GAS TANK IS LEAKING THEREFORE A RECALL MUST INCLUDE THIS MODELS YEAR TOO. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. SHE SMELLED FUEL FUMES COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER , AND THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED. THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. SECONDLY THE HEAD-LIGHTS FAIL WHILE DRIVING. LASTLY, THE LIGHTING OF THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL WAS INOPERATIVE. SHE CONTACTED THE GM MANUFACTURER, AND WAS REFERRED BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO SEVERAL DEALERS, BUT THE FAILURES HAVE NOT BEEN REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,300. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT ALLOW ANY LEVERAGE TO ADJUST THE STRAP. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,899.
2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER SPEEDOMETER FAILURE PROBLEM STARTED AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES INTERMITTENT, NOW WITH 60,000 MILES HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR IS $600.00. *TR
I DETECTED A STRONG GAS SMELL AND TOOK THE TRUCK TO BE REPAIRED. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS LEAKING DUE TO BEING RUSTED OUT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (JEFF WYLER). THEY AGREED TO COVER THE REPAIR OF THE GAS TANK AND THE LABOR (DUE TO A SPECIAL WARRANTY DUE TO OTHER FUEL LEAK PROBLEMS), BUT WOULD NOT COVER THE COST ( $454 + TAX) WHICH WAS THE PART THAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE ASSEMBLY OF THIS PART IS UNPAINTED MEDAL AND RUSTS VERY EASILY (MOST OTHER COMPANY USE PLASTIC ASSEMBLES TO PREVENT THIS VERY PROBLEM). THE LOCATION OF THIS PART MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO WASH, IN ORDER TO REMOVE ANY SALT OR OTHER CORROSIVE ELEMENTS. I DO NOT SEE A WAY THAT I COULD HAVE PREVENTED THE RUSTING OF THIS PART. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT CHEVY SHOULD HAVE TO CORRECT, DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT COULD HAVE VERY EASILY CAUSE A FIRE TO THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF FUEL/VAPOR LEAKING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME TO TEXAS FROM A VACATION TO VISIT FAMILY IN OKLAHOMA. ALL OF A SUDDEN WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION GOT STUCK IN 3RD GEAR. THEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED ALTOGETHER. VEHICLE LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WITH MY FOUR CHILDREN. THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THERE ARE ALOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE TRAILBLAZER TRANSMISSIONS. *TR
FOR APPROX. 2 YEARS THERE HAD BEEN A CONSTANT TICKING WHEN MY 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WAS RUNNING. QUESTIONS ABOUT THE NOISE WAS DISMISSED BY THE SERVICE TECHNICIANS AS NORMAL. FINALLY ON 3/22/08 MY FAN CLUTCH FAILED CAUSING AN OVERHEAT PROBLEM AND A CONSTANT LOUD NOISE, ALONG WITH A SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT. UPON INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE I FOUND LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THE CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER AND ITS PREMATURE FAN CLUTCH FAILURES. TO CORRECT THE FAILURE I HAD TO INCUR THE $724.00 REPAIR. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 TRAILBLAZER WITH 73,000 MILES ON IT. JUST RECENTLY WE ARE SMELLING GAS FUMES REALLY BAD TO THE POINT IT MAKES US SICK AND IS ALSO HARD TO DEAL WITH ONE CAR HAVING TO BE DROPPED OFF AT WORK, ETC. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN AND HAVE PARKED THE VEHICLE BECAUSE NUMBER 1, I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A BIG SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY CHILDREN AND NUMBER 2, I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPAIR THIS AFTER READING ALL THE COMMENTS ON THE INTERNET ($900.-$1000. TO REPAIR). IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE DEALING WITH THE SAME THING. CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE TO GO WITH THIS SITUATION? MY CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT, THAT I PURCHASED 4 1/2 YEARS AGO AND IT HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT, HAS A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT IT IS A 2000 FIX. I AM ANGRY AND DISAPPOINTED THAT A VEHICLE WITH RELATIVELY FEW MILES ON IT IS HAVING SUCH A MAJOR PROBLEM. *TR

MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WAS FOUND LEAKING GAS ROUND THE TOP OF THE TANK, THE SERVICE TECH SAID THE MODULE WAS RUSTED AND WILL NEED REPLACING @$800. *TR
FUEL LEAK FROM THE FUEL PUMP MODULE IN MY 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. I RECENTLY HAD THE FUEL TANK REPLACED BECAUSE OF A VAPOR LEAK CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT TO ACTIVATE. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I DETECTED A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL AND WAS JUST NOW TOLD THAT THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS BADLY CORRODED WITH GAS LEAKING THROUGH IT. WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER THE REPLACEMENT AS THE MODULE IS STILL WORKING. THIS IS EITHER A FAULTY DESIGN, OR SUBSTANDARD MATERIALS ARE BEING USED FOR THIS PART AS THIS VEHICLE IS NOT ALL THAT OLD, AND THIS CONDITION IS PRESENTING A SERIOUS HAZARD WITH THE GAS AND GAS VAPORS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK. *TR
TRANSMISSION LINE LEAKING. COOLING LINE RUBBING ON CATALYTIC CONVERTER. TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING ON CONVERTER. SMOKE COULD BE SEEN. POSSIBLE FIRE ISSUE. TRANSMISSION FAILURE POSSIBLE IF FLUID LEVEL TOO LOW. LINE WAS IN CONTACT WITH CONVERTER. REMEDY WAS TO HAVE ALL LINES REPLACED SO THEY WERE ROUTED AWAY FROM CONVERTER. *TR
THE FUEL PUMP SENDING UNIT ON MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER DEVELOPED CORROSION AND LEAKED FUEL FROM THE UNIT. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WAS $592. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 77,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIPERS WILL ACTIVATE AT ANYTIME AND HE IS UNABLE TO SHUT THEM OFF WITH THE SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V046000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 62,000.
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LS, 4X4 THE GAS TANK LEAKS AFTER FILLING COMPLETELY. ODOR OF GAS COMING FROM MY VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY CLOSING THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE BUSHING AND STRIKER PLATE. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DROPPED HALF AN INCH. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP FOR THE SAME FAILURE ON BOTH THE FRONT AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $300-$600 PER DOOR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
I RECENTLY HAD MY FUEL TANK REPLACE NOW I HEAR KNOCKING AND I UNDERSTAND THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAVE BEEN DAMAGE BECAUSE OF THIS. GMC NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS AS A RECALL. *TR
THE MOTORS ON THE GAUGE CLUSTER START TO FAIL AROUND 50K MILES. MINE IS FAILING RIGHT NOW WITH 51K MILES CAUSING A FALSE READING ON THE SPEEDOMETER. AFTER A SHORT TIME ON THE ROAD THE SPEEDOMETER STARTS TO LOSE SPEED WITH OUT LIFTING OFF THE GAS PEDAL. AFTER A 1/2 HR ON THE ROAD DOING(ATLEAST I THINK) 65MPH IT WILL READ THAT I AM DOING ONLY 20-30 MPH.. *TR
HEADLIGHTS BECOME INOPERATIVE WHEN DRIVING: WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS STOP WORKING I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO PULL OVER AND WAIT UNTIL THE LIGHTS BECOME OPERATIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION AND THE SAME FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
WATER HAS BEEN SEEN SEVERAL TIMES DRIPPING FROM UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK IN THE CENTER AREA. IT APPEARS TO BE FROM THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM. NO WET WEATHER AT THE TIME. IT APPEARS TO BE SOME SORT OF CONDENSATION. ASSUME THAT THE ABS SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK, AND IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MALFUNCTIONING ABS. THE FIRST EVENT WE PAID TO HAVE SERVICE BULLETIN CHECK GROUNDING OF WHEEL AND BODY SENSORS.
