AFTER A LONG DAY OF WORK, I RETURNED TO MY PARKED VEHICLE TO DISCOVER A TOTALLY FLAT FRONT RIGHT TIRE, ON CLOSER EXAMINATION IT WAS NOTED THAT THE TIRE HAD SPLIT ON THE OUTSIDE SEAM. IT WAS NOTED THAT THE SAME CONDITION OF THE TIRE SPLITTING WAS VISIBLE ON ALL THREE OF THE OTHER TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. FLAT TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH SPARE TIRE THAT HAD NEVER BEEN USED. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE PLACE THAT I HAD PURCHASED THE TIRES; THE TECH AT THE STORE EXAMINED THE TIRES AND DECLARED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WERE MANUFACTURED FROM THE SAME BATCH OF TIRES MANUFACTURED BY GOODYEAR. AND THAT ALL FOUR WERE DEFECTED. TODAY I CONTACTED GOODYEAR AND TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THEIR LOCATION. THE MAN AT GOODYEAR STATED THAT GOODYEAR HAS NEVER HAD A RECALL NOR DEFECTIVE TIRES. THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT GOODYEAR WHEN THEY OPENED ON THE EAST COAST. MY COMPLAINT IS WITH GOODYEAR. AND THE VALIDITY OF THE GOODYEAR TECH STATING THAT GOODYEAR HAS NEVER HAD A DEFECTIVE TIRE OR RECALL ON THEIR TIRES. *TR
GOODYEAR TIRES CRACKING, ALL FOUR TIRES, P245/6517 FORTERA SILENT ARMOR PURCHASED JULY 22, 2010. TIRE IDENTIFICATION: DOT PJ8T 65HR 1910, APPROXIMATE 23,000 MILES, TREAD DEPTH REMAINING 8/32. THESE TIRES ARE CRACKING IN THREADS, CIRCUMFERENCE AND RIM LINE. I HAVE CONTRACTED GOODYEAR CASE #1402275. THEY WILL GIVE ME A TIRE CREDIT OF $182.82, I FEEL THESE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. THERE IS NO ABUSE ON THESE TIRES, WELL MAINTAINED, NO CUPPING. I HAVE MANY PICTURES THAT I WOULD LIKE TO EMAIL. I WILL BE PURCHASING NEW TIRES 06-09-2014. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 29 MPH ON AN ICY ROAD AND ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES. THERE WAS NO TRACTION AND THE VEHICLE SLID INTO TRAFFIC, CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE DRIVER OF THE SECOND VEHICLE SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL HUB AND SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,400.
TIRE BLOWOUT AND DISINTEGRATION ON AMERICAN PROSPECTOR SUV 245-65-R17. TIRE HAD LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS SIMILAR TO AN EARLIER RECALL OF A DIFFERENT SIZE. *TR
GOT A FLAT TIRE ON THE ROAD. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO DROP THE SPARE FROM THE BACK BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE IT WAS FROZEN IN PLACE. CABLE HOLDING SPARE WAS FROZEN WITH RUST. THIS PART FAILURE IS DANGEROUS TO PEOPLE OF SIMILAR VEHICLE MAKES BECAUSE IT MUST BE HAPPENING TO OTHERS. I WAS UNDER THE VEHICLE TRYING TO BREAK THE TIRE FREE IN TRAFFIC THAT COULD EASILY HAVE LED TO ME BEING KILLED TRYING TO BREAK SPARE TIRE LOOSE AND IT CAUSED ME LONGER DELAY AND EXPOSURE TO DANGEROUS TRAFFIC DUE TO PART FAILURE. I COULD NOT GET IT LOOSE AND HAD TO HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE THE WHOLE CABLE. DEALER FROM CHEVROLET SAID CABLE WAS FROZEN. 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE VEHICLE HAS KELLY SAFARI TREX TIRES, SIZE P245/70/R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH ON A SNOW COVERED ROAD, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FISHTAIL INTO A SPINOUT UNEXPECTEDLY. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. SHE NOTICED THAT THE TIRE EXPLODED ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE TIRE TREAD DEBRIS EXPLODED IN ALL DIRECTIONS IN THE ROAD DUE TO THE MASSIVE FORCE. THE TIRE WAS CHANGED AND REPLACED WITH A SPARE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION AND THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE SHOP. TWO REPLACEMENT TIRES WERE ORDERED FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 12,000.
MY FAMILY & I WERE ON OUR WAY BACK FROM CHICAGO ON I-55 NEAR PONTIAC IL WHEN WE HAD A TIRE BLOW-OUT ON OUR '03 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. I TRIED TO REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD NOT LOWER. (CHEVYS HAVE A WINCH SYSTEM FOR THE SPARE TIRES) THE TIRE WOULD LOWER ABOUT 2 INCHES, BUT WOULD NOT LOWER COMPLETELY. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO LOWER THE SPARE W/ NO RESULTS!! IF THIS SYSTEM WOULD HAVE WORKED PROPERLY I WOULD HAVE HAD THE FLAT CHANGED IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. THE SPARE TIRE STORAGE IS A GOOD SYSTEM, IF IT WORKS! THERE WAS NO RUST ON THE CABLE, OR ANYTHING HINDERING IT FROM WORKING THE WAY THAT IT IS SUPPOSE TO. I FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE OWNERS' MANUAL TO NO AVAIL! IT JUST DIDN'T WORK! BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY SYSTEM, I HAD TO CALL A TOWING SERVICE TO GET OUR VEHICLE HAULED BACK TO BLOOMINGTON FROM OUTSIDE OF PONTIAC. THE BILL FOR SAID TOW, WOUND UP COSTING MY FAMILY $255.00. WHAT GOOD DOES IT DO TO HAVE A SPARE TIRE ON A VEHICLE, IF YOU CAN'T RETRIEVE IT FROM IT'S STORAGE SPOT? THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I COULD DO TO GET MY FAMILY OFF THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE, SO WE HAD TO WAIT FOR A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR ON THE SHOULDER UNTIL THE TOW-TRUCK ARRIVED. LIKE I STATED, IF THIS SYSTEM HAD WORKED PROPERLY, I WOULD HAVE HAD THE SPARE SWITCHED IN A MATTER OF MINUTES & SAVED MY FAMILY ALOT OF STRESS NOT TO MENTION $255.00! *TR
UPON RETURN TO MY CHEVY TRAILBLAZER I FOUND THAT MY TIRE WAS APPROX. A QUARTER FLAT. DROVE TO THEIR INSTALLER TIRE WORKS, WHERE THEY FOUND A 5/8-3/4 INCH HOLE IN THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE. THE INSTALLER SAID HE FOUND A PIECE OF HEAVY GAUGE WIRE ABOUT 6" INSIDE THE TIRE AND STATED "THIS IS WHAT DID IT." TIRES HAD 10133 MILES ON THEM WITH GREAT TREAD WEAR APPARENT WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. *TR
WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS TIGHTENING THE LUGS:NUTS:BOLTS ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE, TWO OF THE STUDS BROKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE STUDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK *JB
WHILE MAKING A U-TURN AT LOW SPEED FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE CAME OFF THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.*AK
THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO TORQUED THE LUG NUTS TO THE SPECIFIED 100 FOOT POUNDS ON THE LEFT REAR WHEEL AND ONE OF THE STUDS BROKE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED ALL 6 STUDS AND NUTS ON THE LEFT REAR WHEEL. *AK *JB

RIGHT REAR TIRE POPPED / BLEW OUT UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 40 MPH. VEHICLE IS A 17 DAY OLD 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY AND WELL BEING OF MY 6 YEAR OLD CHILD AS WELL AS MYSELF WHILE DRIVING ON A "REPAIRED" TIRE, THAT MAY POSSIBLY HAVE SOME TYPE OF DEFECT WITH THE TIRE. THE DEALER/SERVICE DEPARTMENT SEEM MORE CONCERNED ABOUT CONVINCING ME THAT I MUST HAVE RAN OVER SOMETHING AND EVERYTHING WILL BE OK, BECAUSE THEY WILL REPAIR THE TIRE.
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING APPROX 50MPH AND PROGRESSING AROUND A TURN, VEHICLE BEGAN VEERING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. CONSUMER THEN LOST CONTROL AND TRUCK WENT INTO A 360 DEGREE SPIN AND VEERED OFF THE ROAD. THE LEFT FRONT AND REAR TIRES CAME COMPLETELY OFF THE RIM. TS
