THE GAS GAUGE ON MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER NO LONGER WORKS IT STARTED FLUCTUATING AT ABOUT 109,000 MILES NOW I'M AT ABOUT 150,000 AND IT HASN'T WORKED FOR MONTHS NOW. MY WIFE HAS RUN OUT OF GAS TWICE NOW ON THE INTERSTATE AT 4:00 IN THE MORNING GOING TO WORK WITH SEMI TRUCKS BARRELING DOWN ON HER NOT KNOWING WHY SHE COULDN'T ACCELERATE. *KB
STARTED VEHICLE, WENT TO LOWER DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND IT WOULD NOT GO DOWN. MASTER WINDOW CONTROLS AS WELL AS OUTSIDE MIRROR CONTROLS AND REMOTE KEYLESS LOCKING/UNLOCKING OF DRIVERS DOOR WERE NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL. RESEARCHED THE MOST LIKELY PROBLEM AND DISCOVERED MANY OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING TROUBLE WITH THE "DRIVERS DOOR MODULE". I PULLED MINE OUT OF THE DOOR AND DISCOVERED THE MODULE WAS MELTED AND BURNED AND IT WAS SEVERE ENOUGH TO LEAVE BURN MARKS ON THE INSULATION INSIDE THE DOOR. THE ENTIRE SWITCH BURNED OUT AND APPEARED TO MELT/SMOLDER INSIDE THE DOOR. NOT SURE IF THIS HAPPENED THE INSTANT THE SWITCH WAS ACTIVATED OR IF IT HAPPENED SOMETIME ELSE WHILE PARKED. CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT "THEY REPLACE THESE ALL THE TIME" AND WERE HAPPY TO SELL ME ONE TO FOR OVER $500 INSTALLED/PROGRAMMED. I DECLINED BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET A SATISFACTORY ANSWER AS TO WHY A FUSE DIDN'T STOP THIS FROM OCCURRING AND CAUSING SUCH AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT TO CATCH FIRE INSIDE MY GARAGE. UPON READING OF AN INVESTIGATION BY THE NHTSB TONIGHT, I FEEL COMPELLED TO LET YOU KNOW THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE FIXING. BY THE DEALERS OWN ADMISSION THESE ARE REPLACED FREQUENTLY. GM DIDN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THE FUEL SENDING UNIT ISSUE UNTIL AFTER MANY PEOPLE WERE INCONVENIENCED OR INJURED AND IT APPEARS THEY ARE DOING THE SAME WITH THIS SITUATION. BEYONE THE OBVIOUS FACT THAT THIS IS A FAULTY PART, PLEASE INITIATE A RECALL ON THIS BEFORE IT CATCHES SOMEONES HOME ON FIRE WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE. *TR
TWO WEEKS AGO WE PUT NEW TIRES ON MY TRAILBLAZER AT 28,700 MI. WE WERE LEAVING FOR A TRIP AND TOOK IT TO HAVE THE FRONT END ALIGNED TO BE SURE THE NEW TIRES WORE PROPERLY. WE DID NOT GO TO OUR DEALER AS THERE WAS NO TIME BEFORE THE TRIP. UPON CHECKING THE CAR, THEY DISCOVERED BOTH MY FRONT STRUTS WERE LEAKING BADLY AND THEY NO LONGER GAVE A FIRM RIDE. WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO HAVE THEM REPLACE BOTH STRUTS AT ONLY 28,700 MI. THE REPAIR SHOP WAS QUITE SURPRISED THAT BOTH STRUTS WERE BAD. MY TRAILBLAZER IS GARAGED, HAS EXTREMELY LOW MILEAGE, IS DRIVEN ONLY ON CITY STREETS OR FREEWAY AND NEVER CARRIES ANY LOADS. EVEN THOUGH WE WERE PAST THE 36 MO. PORTION OF THE WARRANTY, THE REPAIR SHOP TOLD US THAT THEY FELT THE STRUTS SHOULD HAVE LASTED FAR LONGER THAN 28,700 MI. AND THAT WITH THE EXCELLENT CARE OF MY CAR, IT WAS FAR TOO EARLY FOR THEM TO HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I CHECKED WITH SOME FRIENDS WHO HAD THEIR CARS FOR FAR LONGER THAN ME AND MANY MORE MILES ON IT AND THEY HAD NEVER HAD ANY ISSUE WITH STRUTS. I DECIDED TO CONTACT GM TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THEY CONTACTED ME AND THE INTERVIEWER TOLD ME THAT SHE COMPLETELY UNDERSTOOD WHY I WOULD BE UPSET. HOWEVER, TODAY I WAS CALLED AND TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT HELP WITH ANY OF THE COST FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE STRUTS. MY CONCERN IS FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT OWN CHEVY VEHICLES WITH THE SAME STRUTS. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE SHOULD NOT DRIVE OUR CAR WITH THE BAD STRUTS ON THE FREEWAY BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SAFE. I WANT TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT SO THAT OTHERS CAN BE MADE AWARE OF THE POSSIBLE DANGERS OF THE STRUTS FAILING AT SUCH AN EARLY MILEAGE. I PLAN TO CONTACT WHATEVER AGENCIES NECESSARY TO MAKE SURE THE PUBLIC KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. *KB
THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED REGISTERING THE CORRECT LEVEL. IT CONSTANTLY SHOWS EMPTY AND THEN GOES ERRATICALLY FROM EMPTY TO FULL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ALSO IS ON AND WILL NOT GO OUT. CHEVY HAS MAILED ME A LETTER STATING THEY WILL COVER 50% OF THE COST OF REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THEY NOW HAVE ALMOST 1 MILLION VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE. AND THEY WONDER WHY AMERICANS PURCHASE FOREIGN (DEPENDABLE) CARS! GM NEEDS TO MAN UP AND PAY FOR THE ENTIRE REPAIR!!!!! *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER I NOTICED THE STRONG SMELL OF AN ELECTRIC FIRE. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER NOTICING THE SMELL SMOKE BEGAN TO COME OUT OF THE DOOR PANEL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. BY THE TIME WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD ONTO A SIDE STREET (ABOUT 30 SECONDS) THE SMELL AND SMOKE HAD INCREASED CONSIDERABLY. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WE WERE TOLD THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SWITCH WENT BAD AND CAUGHT FIRE. WE HAD TO HAVE THE ELECTRICAL REPLACED ON THE ENTIRE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I NOTICED THAT THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED BY OTHERS FOR CHEVY TRAILBLAZER'S OF THE SAME MODEL YEAR AND WOULD REQUEST THIS ISSUE CONTINUE TO BE INVESTIGATED IN THE EVENT A RECALL IS NECESSARY. *TR UPDATED 6/26/12 *CN
THE GAUGE CLUSTER WHERE IT SHOWS THE CARS MILEAGE AND IF THE CAR IS IN PARK, REVERSE, NEUTRAL, OR DRIVE. THE LIGHTING FOR THIS PART OF THE GAUGE CLUSTER GOES OUT AND IS NOT VISIBLE AT ALL. THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR YEARS ON THE CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER AND SIMILAR VEHICLES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED A READING OF EMPTY AND THE NO FUEL INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 99,000.
GAS GAUGE MALFUNCTIONING. WILL NOT REGISTER AMOUNT OF FUEL IN TANK. IT WILL GO UP AND THEN DOWN TO EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WILL COME ON EVEN WHEN I KNOW IT IS FULL. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FAILED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS LOCATED AT THE ELECTRICAL MODULE, WHICH WAS FOUND TO BE MELTED. THE WINDOW WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW ELECTRICAL MODULE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,523 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000. UPDATED 03/06/12 *BF
CHEVROLET SHOULD BE MADE TO PAY FULL PRICE FOR THE REPAIR OF THE FUEL SENSOR. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY HALF FOR REPLACING A FAULTY PRODUCT. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FOR IT TO RUN PERFECTLY. SINCE THE PROBLEM WE HAVE TWICE BEEN STUCK ON THE ROAD WITH NO GAS. TRYING TO ESTIMATE FUEL CONSUMPTION FOR OUR NEXT FILL UP IS RIDICULOUS. I HAVE HEARD OF DRIVERS RUNNING OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY, A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *KB
CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER 2006- GAS GAGE- I FILLED UP MY CAR WITH GASOLINE TWO NIGHTS AGO (8/30/11) AND FOUND AS I WENT TO LEAVE FOR WORK THIS MORNING THAT MY GAS GAGE READ I WAS ON EMPTY. AFTER REFILLING 3 MORE GALLONS (UNTIL IT WAS FULL) I FOUND TO MY SURPRISE THAT THE GAGE STILL READ EMPTY. I HAVE READ ALL OVER THIS WEBSITE AND OTHERS THAT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM. THE NEW YORK TIMES RELEASED AN ARTICLE STATING THAT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION HAD REVEALED GENERAL MOTORS WAS UNDER INVESTIGATION ON APRIL 29TH 2011 WITH THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT ?THE AGENCY SAID IT HAD RECEIVED 668 COMPLAINTS, INCLUDING 58 IN WHICH THE CONSUMER SAID THE VEHICLE STALLED WHEN IT RAN OUT OF GAS, EVEN THOUGH THE GAUGE INDICATED THAT FUEL REMAINED.? THIS INVESTIGATION STARTED MONTHS AGO AND I WOULD LIKE AN ANSWER AS TO WHY ALL OF US HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR THESE REPAIRS OUT OF OUR POCKETS, WHEN THERE IS CLEARLY AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE BEARINGS ON THE ALTERNATOR ARE WEARING AND NEED TO BE REPLACED, THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 29,000 MILES AND ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC THEY SHOULD NOT BE WORN THIS EARLY AND SHOULD BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE; THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND A FAULTY PART THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE REPLACED. THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR HAS STOPPED WORKING OVER 2.5 YEARS AGO. I DID RECEIVE A LETTER SAYING THAT THE PART MAY WEAR OUT PREMATURELY AND THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY 50% OF THE REPLACEMENT BUT IF IT WEARS OUT PREMATURELY THEN THE PART IS FAULTY AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THE PART. THE BACKUP LIGHT PANEL IS BAD, I TRIED TO REPLACE THE BULB BUT THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE PANEL, FAULTY PART AGAIN. *TR
AFTER REFUELING VEHICLE, GAS GAUGE GOES TO E, WITH LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT/BUZZER GOING OFF. AFTER TRAVELLING 30-40 MILES, GAS GAUGE GOES TO NORMAL. AFTERWARDS, GAUGE IS ERRATIC, AND YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH FUEL YOU REALLY HAVE LEFT, WITHOUT KNOWING YOUR FUEL MILEAGE AND HOW MANY MILES YOU HAVE DRIVEN ON A TANK OF GAS SO FAR. NOW GAUGE WILL GO E, EVEN WITH 1/4 TANK OF GAS REMAINING. *TT

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOOR PANEL WIRING WAS MELTED. AS A RESULT, SHE WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS OR OPEN THE WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE HEADLIGHTS WILL START FLICKERING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WILL COME ON IT THE DASH AND ALL OF THE BUTTONS ON THE DRIVERS DOOR WILL STOP WORKING AND THE REAR HEATER WILL ONLY WORK WHEN IT WANTS TOO THE POWER LIGHT ON THE REAR HEATER WILL NOT EVEN COME ON THEN YOUR DRIVING ALONG AND IT WILL LIGHT UP AND START WORKING THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE BUTTONS ON THE DOOR TO WORK AGAIN AND THE LIGHTS IN THE DASH TO GO OFF IS TO PULL OVER AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND THEN RESTART IT UP AGAIN BUT YOU MAY BE DOING THIS AGAIN WITH IN THE HOUR IF STILL DRIVING AND IF YOU DON'T LOOK FOR THOSE LIGHTS ON IN THE DASH YOU COULD BE IN TROUBLE CAUSE IF THEY STAY ON LONG ENOUGH YOU WILL GO TO STOP AND THE BRAKE PADDLE WILL GO TO THE FLOOR AND YOU WON'T STOP BUT IF YOU QUICKLY HIT THE BRAKE AGAIN IT STOPS THE TRUCK IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ANYMORE IT SCARES ME EVERY TIME I GET IN IT I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE TRUCKS FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN ONLINE ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND IF I HIT SOMEONE BECAUSE OF THIS THING I WILL SUE GM FOR MAKING JUNK. *TR

THE FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. AT FIRST, IT WOULD LEVEL OFF AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES. THE GAUGE THEN STAYED AT EMPTY ALL OF THE TIME. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AND WE'RE ALWAYS CONCERNED SHE WILL RUN OUT OF GAS IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE HAS OFFERED TO PAY 50% OF THE REPAIR COST OF $700-800. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE FAULTY FUEL TANK SENSOR THAT THEY ADMIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR MODULE EXHIBITED A SHORTAGE AND A DYSFUNCTIONAL CIRCUIT BOARD, CAUSING THE DOOR PANEL SWITCH AND WINDOWS TO BECOME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE MODULE CIRCUIT BOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY AT ALL TIMES. FILLED THE TANK UP COMPLETELY ONE DAY AND THE GAUGE READ EMPTY (EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL FULL)THE FOLLOWING DAY. GAUGE READS EMPTY AT ALL TIMES NOW. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR MY SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD. *KB

FUEL GAUGE STOPPED READING ACCURATELY. I STARTED MONITORING MY FUEL BY MILEAGE BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD THE $1000 REPLACEMENT COST. I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, TRIED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN, AND THE CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY MULTIPLE CARS AND I BLOCKED TRAFFIC IN ALL DIRECTIONS. *TR

WHEN REFUELING FOR GAS, MY GAUGE REGISTERED EMPTY AFTER THE TANK WAS COMPLETELY FULL. IT CONTINUED TO FLUCTUATE REGISTERING EMPTY, HALF FULL, ETC. THIS HAS CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON EVERY TIME THE TRUCK IS REFUELED. THE LIGHT CAN BE TURNED OFF WHEN YOU OPEN AND RECLOSE THE GAS LID. THIS HAS TO BE DONE EVERY TIME THE TRUCK IS REFUELED IN ORDER TO TURN THE LIGHT OFF. AS A RESULT YOU NEVER KNOW IF THERE IS SOMETHING REALLY WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. I AM UNABLE TO TELL TRULY HOW MUCH GAS IN THE VEHICLE AND I HAVE TO REFUEL EVERY TWO TO THREE DAYS BECAUSE OF THE DISTANCE I TRAVEL TO AND FROM WORK/ DOCTOR'S APPT. THANK YOU *TR
FUEL GAUGE REGISTERS EMPTY EVEN AFTER FILLING THE TANK FULL. HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE DEAD OF WINTER. VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE READ THOUSAND'S OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONLINE. I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER THAT NEEDS AN IMMEDIATE RECALL TO GET THIS SITUATION FIXED. MANY 05-08 TRAILBLAZERS HAVE A FAULTY FUEL INDICATOR GAUGE THAT GIVES FALSE READINGS ON HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE VEHICLE. ON MY SPECIFIC 2006 CHEV TRAILBLAZER SITS ON EMPTY AFTER I COMPLETELY FILL THE TANK. IT ALSO MOVES AROUND FROM EMPTY, HALF FULL, ALMOST FULL, THEN DOWN TO EMPTY AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. BETWEEN MY SPOUSE AND MYSELF WE HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS 4 TIMES SO FAR, ONCE WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. THIS IS A PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD. *TT
PE12003 MY TRAILBLAZER 06 WINDOW AUTOMATICALLY WENT UP AND I COULD SMELL BURNING, I MADE THE KIDS GET OUT OF THE CAR AND I HAD MY DAD SEARCH. THE DOOR PANEL WAS POPPED OFF, THE SWITCH HAD MELTED AND BURNED A HOLE INTO THE WHITE INSULATION, NOW NOTHING WORKS ON THE TRAILBLAZER DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I NOTIFIED THE CAC AND SENT PICTURES. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO GET IT FIXED SO IT IS STILL NOT FUNCTIONING. *TR UPDATED 6/26/12 *CN
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN MY 2006 TRAILBLAZER EXT. AFTER STOPPING AT THE STOP SIGN IN FRONT OF MY HOME, I PRESSED THE CENTER BUTTON ON THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE TO OPEN THE GARAGE DOOR AND PROCEEDED TO TURN RIGHT AS TO POSITION THE VEHICLE TO ALLOW FOR BACKING-UP ONTO MY DRIVEWAY AND INTO THE RIGHT PARKING HALF OF MY GARAGE. BUT AS I SHIFTED THE TRAILBLAZER INTO REVERSE, I BEGAN TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. I COULD FEEL THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SLIPPING, THE ENGINE WAS UNDER LOAD, AND IT WAS AS IF I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME I WAS PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. BUT, I ONLY USE MY RIGHT FOOT, AND MY LEFT FOOT WAS IN FRONT OF, AND AGAINST, THE DRIVERS SEAT, FAR AWAY FROM BOTH PEDALS. I LOOKED OVER TO THE PARKING BRAKE, BUT IT WAS COMPLETELY DOWN. USING THE PARKING BRAKE LEVER, I MADE CERTAIN THAT IS WAS NOT ENGAGED. THE BRAKE LIGHT IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS NOT ON AT ANY TIME, NOR WAS THERE A WARNING FROM THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER (DIC), NOR WAS THERE ANY OTHER WARNING OR INDICATOR SHOWING THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I STILL COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO MOVE. I PLACED THE TRANSMISSION INTO DRIVE, AND I COULD FEEL THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT, BUT AGAIN, I COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. AND, THERE WAS A LOAD ON THE ENGINE AS IF I WAS PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME AS I WAS PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT THE BRAKE WAS NOT BEING PRESSED, AND MY LEFT FOOT WAS FAR AWAY FROM THE PEDALS. FINALLY, AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE, I FELT THAT THE CAR WAS 'LET GO', AND I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR NORMALLY ONTO MY DRIVEWAY AND INTO MY GARAGE, BUT I WAS SHAKING A BIT AND AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN. *KB
2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER GAS GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. DEALER QUOTED $1000.00 TO REPAIR IT. IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON TRAILBLAZERS I HAVE FOUND FROM RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE. GM SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLES FOR REPAIR AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. POOR QUALITY BY GM ON THIS. THIS COULD CAUSE A CRASH BY RUNNING OUT OF GAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE GAS GAUGE ON MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER BEGAN TO SHOW AN EMPTY TANK WHEN I FILLED UP, AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 50 MILES THE GAUGE WOULD PROPERLY SHOW THE AMOUNT OF GAS I HAD IN THE TANK UNTIL THE NEXT FILL UP. THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND I HAVE READ THAT OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEFECT SEEMS TO BE COMMON, EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR, AND SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF CHEVROLET. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS PROVIDING INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READINGS. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 45 MPH. THE CONTACT HAD TO SET THE MILEAGE TO ZERO IN ORDER TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE VEHICLE AND HOW MANY MILES SHE COULD TRAVEL BEFORE RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TRIED TO TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONING AND DISCOVERED THE FAN DID NOT WORK. AFTER QUITE A BIT OF RESEARCH AND AN EXPENSIVE DIAGNOSIS, WAS INFORMED THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR WAS BURNED OUT. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON, FREQUENT, AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM IF DONE BY THE DEALERSHIP. THERE ARE SEVERAL POTENTIAL HAZARDS TO FAMILIES AND CHILDREN WHICH INCLUDE; THE POSSIBILITY OF FIRE CAUSED MY THE HEATED & MELTED WIRE, LOSS OF AIR CONDITIONING IN THE HEAT OF THE DAY WHICH MAY CAUSE HEAT STROKE OR WORSE, AND LOSS OF HEAT DURING THE WINTER MONTHS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE SAFELY WITHOUT THE WINDOWS ICING OVER AND INHIBITING VISION. A RECALL IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE PROBLEMS WITH THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR IS NECESSARY. *TT

THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL IN THE CAR AND THEN THE HIGH SETTING ON THE AIR FAN SPEED STOPPED WORKING. THEN ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE SECOND TO HIGHEST SPEED STOPPED WORKING ALSO. I OPENED MY GLOVE WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND THEN THE HIGHEST SETTING STARTED WORKING AGAIN, THEN STOPPED WORKING A FEW MINUTES LATER. I LOOKED IN THE DASH BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A CONNECTOR FOR THE FAN MOTOR CONTROLLER WAS HEATING UP AND STARTED MELTING. I CHECKED THE CONNECTION AND INSIDE THE CONNECTOR WAS BURNT AND BLACKENED. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THEY SETUP AN APPOINTMENT AT THE NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALER AND HAD IT CHECKED. THEY FOUND THAT THE FAN MOTOR CONNECTOR WAS BAD AND THAT THE FAN MOTOR CONTROLLER WAS BAD ALSO, THEY CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS AND TOLD THEM IT WASN'T A DEFECT AND IT WAS NOT A SAFETY HAZARD. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE CONNECTOR ALMOST CATCHING FIRE IS NOT A FIRE HAZARD OR A DEFECT. THEY WANTED TO REPLACE THE CONNECTOR AND THE MOTOR CONTROLLER. I DENIED THE SERVICE BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $365.00 TO DO SO. WHEN I FOUND THE PARTS ELSEWHERE FOR $75.00 AND IM GOING TO DO THE REPAIRS MYSELF. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE BURNT CONNECTOR AND FAN MOTOR CONTROLLER. I WILL BE REPAIRING THE ISSUE ONCE THE PARTS ARE DELIVERED. FUEL GAUGE SHOWED I WAS EMPTY AFTER FILLING UP THE CAR. THE GAUGE NOW READS ERRATICALLY AND DOES NOT SHOW THE PROPER AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK.
