DRIVING DOWN A TWO LANE HIGHWAY. NEEDED TO PASS CAR IN FRONT OF US DOING 40MPH IN A 60. SIGNALED OVER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE, PASSED OVER, SPED UP, AND SIGNALED TO TRANSFER BACK INTO ORIGINAL LANE. DURING TRANSFER, POWER STEERING STOPPED, FORCING ME TO PULL HARDER THAN NORMAL TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OVER. ONCE THE MANEUVER WAS ALMOST COMPLETE, POWER STEERING RETURNED, CAUSING ME TO OVER CORRECT RIGHT, THEN NEEDING TO CORRECT BACK LEFT. THE QUICK MANEUVER CAUSED MY PASSENGER TO HIT THEIR HEAD ON THEIR WINDOW. FROM THAT MOMENT ON, POWER STEERING ONLY WORKS WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS BEING DEPRESSED. WHEN YOU ARE IDLE, COASTING, ETC., POWER STEERING IS NOT PRESENT AND REQUIRES EXCESSIVE FORCE TO STEER CAR. CALLED DEALERSHIP TODAY TO GET IT LOOKED AT. I ASSUME IT MIGHT BE RELATED TO SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #14329, BUT NOT SURE. *TR
ERROR MESSAGE SAYS TRACTION CONTROL OFF, SERVICE STABILITRAK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED THEN VEHICLE DROPS SPEED TO UNDER 20MPH. I HAVE TO TRY AND SAFELY PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAIT UNTIL I CAN TURN THE CAR BACK ON TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THIS CAN LAST AN HOUR OR MORE. DEALER SAYS THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACED. TSB #PI-0097A AND NHTSA #10036514 SHOWS A KNOWN ISSUE. DEALER SAYS NOT COVERED. DEALER SERVICED VEHICLE BY CLEANING THE THROTTLE BOTTLE AND PROBLEM STOPPED FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. SYMPTOMS HAPPEN AGAIN AND NOW ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. I AM VERY DISCOURAGED WITH THIS VEHICLE. WHY DOES CHEVY PUBLISH THESE TSB'S IF THE DEALERS WON'T COVER THEM? *TR
INCREASING NOISE IN STEERING COLUMN ASSOCIATED WITH TURNING THE CAR. CHEVY SERVICE MAN SAID I NEEDED A NEW STEERING GEAR AND PUMP. *TR
AT VERY LOW SPEEDS (WHEN PARKING IN A PARKING STALL OR PARALLEL PARKING) OUR POWER STEERING STARTS TO SEIZE UP AND THE WHEEL BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN...IN FACT IT TAKES EVERY OUNCE OF MY PETITE BODY TO GET IT TO TURN. UPON BRINGING IT IN WE HAVE LEARNED THAT THERE IS A WARRANTY EXTENSION OUT ON THIS VERY ISSUE AND ALSO RECEIVED A LETTER INDICATING THAT. UNFORTUNATELY THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE THEREFORE THE FIX WAS NOT COMPLETED. I WOULD THINK THAT ANY TYPE OF STEERING FAILURE THAT COMES WITHOUT AN INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A "SAFETY ITEM". WE HAVE ALSO HAD A CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND GETS WORSE WHEN IT'S COLD OUT. ALSO WE NOW HAVE A POWER STEERING WHEEL GEAR LEAK AND THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED TO US THAT THEY ALSO THOUGHT THAT THE LEAK MIGHT BE A PART OF THE PROBLEM WHICH IS ALSO ALARMING FOR AGAIN THE FACT THAT I AM LOSING POWER STEERING WITH NO WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS TO BE THE ROOT OF OUR ISSUE BECAUSE IF IT WAS A FLUID LEVEL ISSUE IT WOULD BE MORE CONSISTENT RATHER THAN AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE. I FIND IT KIND OF STRANGE THAT ALL OF THE SUDDEN WE HAVE ALL THESE POWER STEERING ISSUES ALL AT ONCE AND YET OTHER GM MODELS ARE BEING OFFERED LIFE TIME WARRANTIES ON SOME OF THESE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE OPENED A CASE WITH GM ABOUT THE FAILURE WHEN IT COMES TO TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT IT HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED AND GM HAS ALREADY RECOGNIZED THE ISSUE IN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION AND HAS AN OBLIGATION TO FIX IT. WE FIRST NOTICED THIS ISSUE SINCE THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER 2014. WE WILL SOON HAVE A CHILD TAKING DRIVING LESSONS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND WE ARE ALMOST AFRAID THAT WE WILL LOSE 100% POWER STEERING BECAUSE OF THESE ISSUES WHILE HE IS DRIVING AND HE WILL HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WHICH IS A SCARY THOUGHT! *TR
HEATER AND A/C WASN'T WORKING CORRECTLY AS HOT AND COLD AIR WEREN'T CONSISTENTLY BLOWING THROUGH THE VENTS. DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WITH THE HEATER AND A/C IS DUE TO A BAD TEMPERATURE ACTUATOR WHICH WILL COST ABOUT $350 PLUS TAX. THEY REPLACED THE MODE DOOR ACTUATOR SYSTEM IN DEC 2013 BECAUSE NO AIR WAS BLOWING THROUGH THE DEFROST VENTS, WHICH COST $415. ELECTRONICS KEEP FAILING AND ARE EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR/REPLACE. *TR
HARD TO STEER AT LOW SPEEDS; THUMPING SOUND. ON NOV 8, 2014 , I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BURLINGTON CHEVROLET, HOWEVER THEY STATED IT WASN'T THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THEY SAID IT WAS THE STEERING GEAR RACK WHICH WILL COST ME ABOUT $1,600 PLUS TAX (ALSO INCLUDES FLUSHING THE LINE AND WHEEL ALIGNMENT). THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I'VE READ SIMILAR COMMON PROBLEMS. THIS HAS TO BE RELATED TO THE RECENT POWER STEERING PUMP ISSUE LETTER THAT GM RECENTLY MAILED (14329). I'M FRUSTRATED! *TR
THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO UNDER STEER INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A MOUNTAIN PASS DURING A FRIDAY EVENING. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH CURVES THE CAR HAD TO BE SLOWED CONSIDERABLY BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT TO NEGOTIATE THE TURNS. ONCE NEAR OUR DESTINATION APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES AFTER FIRST NOTICING THE PROBLEM, FOUND TURNING THE VEHICLE AT LOWER SPEEDS (IN PARKING LOT) NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE AND IMPROBABLE AFTER NARROWLY MISSING A DITCH INSTEAD OF A DRIVEWAY OF THE HOTEL. THE FOLLOWING MORNING MADE APPT. WITH GM DEALER TO EVALUATE, WHILE EN ROUTE (APPROX. 4 MILES) THE STEERING BECAME MORE AND MORE DIFFICULT TO TURN, WHEN WE APPROACHED THE DEALERSHIP, THE STEERING WHEEL NEEDED TO BE TURNED SEVERAL TIMES UNDER EXTREME DURESS (AS IF THERE WAS HARDLY ANY MOVEMENT OF THE STEERING RACK ITSELF) ONLY TO SLIGHTLY TURN THE VEHICLE ENOUGH TO GET IN THE DRIVEWAY AND INTO THE PARKING LOT. ONCE THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE, WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE POWER STEERING UNIT HAD FAILED (NOT UNDER WARRANTY) AND THAT BECAUSE IT FAILED IT DID NOT LUBRICATE THE STEERING RACK PROPERLY THEREFORE RUINING AND RENDERING THE STEERING SYSTEM INOPERABLE. THE REPAIR HAS BEEN QUOTED AT $2600 WITH PARTS AND 12 1/2 HOURS OF LABOR. THE STEERING SYSTEM IS AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT TO ANY VEHICLE, THEREFORE WE ARE GREATLY CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY AND OTHERS DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS FAILURE CONSIDERING THE VULNERABILITY EXHIBITED BY THE STEERING RACK IN THE EVENT OF A POWER STEERING UNIT FAILURE. I AM ABSOLUTELY BEFUDDLED THAT A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD, WITH LESS THAN 70,000 MILES CAN HAVE SUCH A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. HAD I NOT HAD THE STRENGTH NEEDED TO FIGHT THE STEERING THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE EASILY FAILED TO MAKE A TURN AND CERTAINLY HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR
AIR CONDITIONING/HEAT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. A/C WILL BLOW HOT AIR SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES THE BLOWER WILL ONLY WORK ON FRONT VENTS. THE DEFROST WILL NOT BLOW AT THE TOP VENTS. NO MATTER WHAT SETTING YOU PUT IT ON IT ONLY BLOWS IN THE FRONT. TSB #PIE-0161 NHTSA #10038747. YET ANOTHER KNOWN PROBLEM THAT I CAN'T GET MY CHEVY DEALER TO COVER. I HAD THE ACTUATOR REPLACED AND THAT HELPED WITH THE HAVING ALL THE VENTS WORK BUT THE A/C WILL RUN HOT SOMETIMES. IF I HAVE THE HEAT ON IN THE MORNING AND THEN TRY TO USE THE A/C LATER IN THE AFTERNOON THE A/C WILL RUN HOT. IF I START THE CAR WITH THE A/C ON IN THE BEGINNING OF THE DAY IT WILL STAY COLD. IT IS ONLY WHEN SWITCHING BETWEEN SETTINGS. *TR
ON THE HIGHWAY DOING AROUND 65 MPH, ALARM CHIMES WENT OFF, DISPLAY CENTER SHOWED "SERVICE STABILITRAK", "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL", "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". THE CAR QUICKLY DECELERATED TO 10 MPH AND WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER. HAD TO PULL OVER AND SHUT DOWN. THIS WAS ONLY ONE OF THE MANY TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SERVICE CENTER, DIAGNOSED WITH 4 OR 5 DIFFERENT ISSUES, REPAIRED 2 OR 3 COMPONENTS ALL WITH THE SAME OUTCOME: THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED ISSUE COMES BACK. THE DEALER TELLS ME IT'S A "NEW ISSUE" EVERY TIME SO AT THIS POINT I HAVE NO FAITH IN THEIR "FIXES", I FEEL THAT WHEN MY WIFE, KIDS, OR ME ARE IN THE CAR I WILL EVENTUALLY BE IN A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT WHERE WE ALL DIE AND HOPE THAT AT LEAST THIS MESSAGE WILL COME OUT THEN. GM HAS BEEN SORT OF HELPFUL BUT FROM MY RESEARCH/DEALINGS WITH THIS ISSUE (30+ HOURS), IT SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT MODEL GM AUTOMOBILES. I AM AT A LOSS. I HAVEN'T FIXED THE MOST RECENT ISSUE ($700, TRANSMISSION INTERNAL MODE SWITCH) IN HOPES THAT, USING MY OWN RESEARCH/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, I CAN FIND THE REAL ISSUE BEHIND THESE FAILURES AND NOT JUST WHAT THE "COMPUTER ERROR CODES" ARE POINTING TOO. THE IRONY IN THIS "FEATURE" IS THAT, FROM MY UNDERSTANDING, IT GOES INTO THIS ENGINE POWER REDUCED MODE FOR SAFETY REASONS SO THAT YOU WON'T LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR OR OTHER PROBLEM. YET REDUCING THE ENGINE POWER ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OR THE PA TURNPIKE WHERE THERE IS NOWHERE TO SAFELY PULL OVER IS THE MOST DANGEROUS PROBLEM OF ALL. NOTES FOR OTHER CONSUMERS: SO FAR THE MECHANIC HAS FLUSHED THE THROTTLE BODY (CLEANED IT), AND REPLACED THE TIMING BELT . TAKING TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC FOR A 2ND OPINION ON THE MOST RECENT INTERNAL MODE SWITCH DIAGNOSIS.
WHILE AT A STOP SIGN OUR 2010 TRAVERSE SHUT OFF. IT POWERED DOWN EVERYTHING, IT WOULD START UP AGAIN BUT WOULD SHUT DOWN SEVERAL TIMES AGAIN. MY SON WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND NOTICED WHEN HE PRESSED DOWN ON A CERTAIN SPOT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR THE CAR SHUT OFF. WE HAVE OUR CAR AT THE CHEVROLET PLACE NOW AND THEY WERE VERY SKEPTICAL UNTIL MY SON PLACED HIS FOOT ON THE SPOT AND THE CAR SHUT DOWN RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. THEY WILL BE LOOKING AT THE CAR MONDAY 10/13/14 TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THIS CAR IN NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, I WOULD THINK THIS IS CHEVROLET PROBLEM WITH THE TRAVERSE. (?) *TR
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN 2012 AND THE STEERING COLUMN HAS ALWAYS MADE A WEIRD NOISE. IN SEPTEMBER OF 2014 WHILE DRIVING WITH MY 1 AND 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS IN THE VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ALTOGETHER. I GOT THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED THE FOLLOWING DAY. HOWEVER, THIS WAS JUST A SHORT, TEMPORARY FIX (ABOUT A WEEK). THE STEERING COLUMN MAKES EVEN A LOUDER AND GREATER NOISE BUT THE POWER STEERING COMES AND GOES. IT IS VERY STIFF ALL OF THE TIME. MAKES DRIVING A REAL CHORE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU LIVE WAY OUT OF TIME ON CURVY BACK ROADS. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURS BECAUSE THE STEERING WILL BE FINE FOR A MINUTE THEN YOU GO TO TURN AND IT VANISHES AND YOU HAVE TO PULL ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET IT TO TURN. THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR MYSELF, FAMILY, OR OTHERS ON THE ROAD. I SEE MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES. I DO NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT I HAVE TO WORRY EVERY TIME I GET BEHIND THE WHEEL BY MYSELF OR WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR IF I AM GOING TO MAKE IT SOMEWHERE SAFELY. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
FOR THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN GOING OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS. IT IS DANGEROUS AND SCARY. WE FINALLY HAD TO GET THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED YESTERDAY. THIS SEEMS TO HAVE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. *TR

ASK OUR DEALER SERVICE CENTER AND OF COURSE THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD OF ANYONE HAVING PROBLEM. THAT WE NEED A NEW POWER STEERING RACK AT $1400.00. FUNNY THAT THIS WEB SITE HAS TONS. IN TODAY'S WORLD - WHERE CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD BE TOP OF THE LINE IT IS AT THE BOTTOM. NO WONDER PEOPLE BUY FOREIGN CARS. *TR
IN SEPTEMBER OF LAST YEAR OUR 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE STARTED GETTING HARD TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT AND I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND I CAN NOT AFFORD 1200.00 DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM WHICH SEEMS LIKE IT IS THE POWER STEERING PUMP. AT THIS POINT WE HAVE NO POWER STEERING ABOUT 90 % OF THE TIME. IT IS GETTING DANGEROUS AT THIS POINT AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT WE WILL DO THIS WINTER IF WE START TO SLIDE WE WOULD BE UNABLE TO STEER FAST ENOUGH TO KEEP FROM WRECKING. WE NEED THIS CAR. OTHER THAN THE STEERING, I LOVE THIS CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN DRIVING ON AN INCLINE, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE INDEPENDENTLY. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND EACH TIME, THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO ADDITIONAL MECHANICS. HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIANS WERE ALSO UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO POWER SAFE MODE AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DECIDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
DASH LAMP BACKLIGHTING GOES DIM INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE. NO REPAIR PERFORMED. ALSO COMPLAINED ABOUT A ONE-TIME INCIDENT WHERE, WHEN ENTERING A DARK GARAGE FROM SUNLIGHT, HEADLIGHTS DID NOT COME ON. NO ACTION TAKEN. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A SCRAPPING NOISE THAT APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING GEAR FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE TRANSMISSION HAD A LEAK AND WAS REPAIRED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD VARIOUS ELECTRICAL FAILURES, INCLUDING THE DASHBOARD LIGHTING BEING TOO DIM. *JS *JS
WHILE TRYING TO TURN ONTO A STREET, STEERING WAS VERY HARD TO TURN AND MADE IT DIFFICULT TO COMPLETE THE TURN. THIS HAPPENED SPORADICALLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS UNTIL WE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT FIXED. IT COST $2K TO FIX THE STEERING PUMP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING TO THE STORE, THE STABILITRAK/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED AND BECOME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER WHEN MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURNED. THE FAILURE RECURRED EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
WE HAVE OWNED OUR 2010 TRAVERSE FOR A FEW YEARS NOW. THE STEERING PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN HORRIBLE FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS. WE NOW LIVE IN SPAIN AND AS A MILITARY MEMBER I CAN'T JUST GO OUT AND BUY A BRAND NEW CAR. CHEVROLET OWNERS AND BOARD MEMBERS NEED TO COME TOGETHER AND GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. I THINK IT WILL HAVE TO TAKE A PERSON TO DIE IN A CAR ACCIDENT FOR THEM TO EVER GIVE A [XXX] ABOUT THIS ISSUE THAT THEY HAVE WITH ONE OF THEIR TOP SELLING CARS. I LOVE MY TRAVERSE BUT I HAVE TIRED OF POURING MONEY INTO THIS COMMON PROBLEM I AM STARTING TO NOTICE THAT EVERYONE HAS. I STARTED TO DO RESEARCH AND ON EVERY ONLINE SITE PEOPLE ARE HAVING HORRIBLE PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING. AT LOW SPEED WHILE PARKING THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING. *TR
WE BOUGHT OUR 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE LT WITH APPROX. 62,000 MILES. AT APPROX. 67,000 MILES WE EXPERIENCED A ZIPPER TYPE SOUND WITH THE STEERING, THIS SOUND CAN BE INTERMITTENT AND AT ALL SPEEDS. AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME WE EXPERIENCED THAT THE STEERING TO BE VERY HARD AND ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 5 AND 35 MPH. THE STEERING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEN PULLING INTO AND OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. THE STEERING IS JUST AS IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEN HAVING TO QUICKLY TURN AT SPEEDS AS HIGH AS 35 MPH. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN CHANGING LANES OR ONTO ANOTHER ROAD. ANOTHER TIME THAT THE STEERING BECOMES UNSAFE IS WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND TRYING TO TURN FROM A STOPPED POSITION. THIS HAS PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK AT NUMEROUS TIMES. WE LOVE THE TRAVERSE AND WERE IMPRESSED WITH THE STEERING RESPONSE WHEN WE FIRST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A MAJOR CONCERN AS IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN, AND RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS NOT A ISOLATED TO OUR VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM FLORIDA BACK TO INDIANA WHEN I PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE TO REALIZE MY POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. THE STEERING WAS SO DIFFICULT I DIDN'T THINK I COULD MAKE THE TURN. AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30 AM, WE WERE DRIVING EAST ON I-270 OUTSIDE OF COLUMBUS, OHIO. I NEEDED TO PASS SOMEONE IN A FAIRLY TIGHT SITUATION AND I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR FULLY TO THE FLOOR. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD NOT RETURN OR IN OTHER WORDS, WAS STUCK AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE. WHILE THIS OCCURRED, I GLANCED TO THE ACCELERATOR TO SEE IF ANYTHING WAS OBSTRUCTING IT. THERE WAS NOTHING OBSTRUCTING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I PUT THE CAR QUICKLY IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, WITH A PLAN TO GLIDE TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TO RESTART. WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED, OUR CHEVY TRAVERSE'S POWER STEERING FAILS TO WORK AND THE VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. I HAD TO SLOW IN FRONT OF ON COMING TRAFFIC TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE SO I COULD SAFELY COMPLETE THE TURN. JULY 2014 MY TRAVERSE HAD AROUND 67,000 MILES ON IT, AND IT HAD STARTED OVERHEATING. WE TOOK IT TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND HAD THE ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF. WE HAD ALSO ASKED THEM TO ADDRESS THE RECALLS THAT WE HAD RECEIVED NOTICE ON.ONE ISSUE WAS FIXED, AND ON THE INVOICE THEY HAD MADE NOTE THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT US WHEN THE OTHER RECALL PARTS WERE IN. FOR 2 MONTHS, NO PHONE CALL FROM THEM.WE HAD RECEIVED NO CALL THAT THE PARTS WERE IN.THEN THE END OF SEPTEMBER WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM THE COAST, I HEARD A NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A CAP BEING CLICKED BY A TEEN. BLAMED MY NIECE, BUT AFTER READING THE LEGAL DOCUMENTS ON THE LAWSUIT, IT HAD TO HAVE BEEN THE SAME THING. THE NEXT ISSUE THAT WOULD BE WHAT I CONSIDER THE LAST STRAW WITH THIS VEHICLE.IN THE NEXT DAY OR SO, IT BECAME HARD TO TURN AT LOW SPEEDS.WE CHECKED STEERING FLUID, AND IT WAS LOW BUT NO WHERE NEAR EMPTY.WE ADDED ADDITIONAL FLUID AND THOUGHT THAT WAS THE FIX.THE STEERING ISSUE CONTINUED TO WORSEN.DRIVING INTO WORK I NEEDED TO TURN OFF THE MAIN HWY ONTO A ST., DURING THE MORNING RUSH HOUR.I WAS BARELY ABLE TO MAKE THE TURN. IT TOOK ALL I COULD DO TO TURN. WAS VERY SCARY, AND I WAS THANKFUL THAT OUR CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE CAR.WHEN I ARRIVED TO WORK, I WAS UNABLE TO PULL INTO THE PARKING LOT OF THE OFFICE. I ENDED UP HAVING TO PARK ON THE ST DUE TO BEING UNABLE TO EFFECTIVELY TURN.WE TOOK THE TRAVERSE TO A DIFFERENT CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THAT THE PUMP, RACK AND PINION, STRUT AND CV BOOT WERE FAILING. FOUND THIS TO BE VERY ODD, MOST OFTEN A CV BOOT WEARS OUT ON A VEHICLE WITH HIGHER MILES THAN THE 70,000MILES.COST TO REPAIR IS AT $2500.00, DUE TO CHEVROLET FOR THE NEGLECT. MY 2010 TRAVERSE HAD A POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK IN JULY, 2014. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER WHO REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP AT MY COST OF $800. AFTERWARDS, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY WOULD REIMBURSE FOR ANY REPAIRS. I CONTINUE TO HAVE POWER STEERING PROBLEMS. REPLACEMENT OF THE PUMP WAS ONLY A PARTIAL FIX. THIS HAS CREATED A SAFETY ISSUE. TODAY I WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING GEAR NEEDS REPLACING AT MY COST OF $1,200. A COUPLE WEEKS LATER WE NOTICED WHEN WE LEFT THE WINDOW DOWN A LITTLE AND CLOSED THE DOOR THE WINDOW WOULD SHAKE. NO ONE SLAMS THE CAR DOORS. NOW BOTH MY FRONT WINDOWS SHAKE IF THEY ARE LEFT OPEN EVEN A SMALL AMOUNT. CLEARY PAYING FOR A NEW WINDOW WAS NOT THE ANSWER, THE BOLTS IN THE DOORS AREN'T ANY GOOD.

USED BLUE ONSTAR AND WAS TOLD IT HAD TO DO WITH THE EMISSION AND WOULD AFFECT FUEL GETTING TO ENGINE AND RECOMMENDED REPAIRS WITHIN 7 DAYS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF ON THE WAY TO DEALER. HOWEVER DEALER CHECKED AND SAID EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK AND DID NOT CHARGE. LIGHT CAME ON NEXT DAY. RETURNED TO DEALER FOR LIGHT WHICH HAD COME ON AGAIN AND OFF AGAIN AND ONE OF TWO RECALLS WHICH I HAD NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT. I AM STILL WAITING ON THE PARTS WHICH HAD TO BE ORDERED FOR ONE OF THE RECALLS WHICH IS NOT YET REPAIRED. WAS LAST THERE ON 7/15 AND NOW I AM TOLD THAT IT IS AN EMISSION PROBLEM AND WILL AFFECT MY FUEL MILEAGE AND NEEDS REPAIRED AND REPAIRS COST APPROX $380.00 AND OF COURSE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR EMISSION RAN OUT AT 80,000 MILES. . I ALSO AN ISSUE PROBABLY WHEN VEHICLE WAS 2 YEARS OLD WHERE MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. THIS WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP. I WAS FORTUNATELY ON A TWO LANE RESIDENTIAL ROAD AN COASTED TO A RELATIVELY SAFE PLACE AND HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED. THANK GOD FOR TRIPLE AAA. THIS WAS COVERED UNDER MY FOX EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ONLY COST WAS TIME AGGRAVATION AND LOSS OF VEHICLE WHILE REPAIRS. I ALSO HAVE A OFF AND ON RUBBING SQUEAKING SOUND IN THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN MAKING TURNS. I AM ABOUT READY TO TRADE VEHICLES AND AM NOT FINANCIALLY ABLE TO AFFORD THE NEEDED REPAIRS. FOR THIS CAR. WHILE DRIVING FROM DURANGO TO SILVERTON CO. THROUGH ALL THE TURNS, I COMPLETELY LOST THE ABILITY TO TURN. I HAD TO BRAKE HARD IN ORDER TO NOT GO OFF THE ROAD. VEHICLE CAME TO AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN BUT NOW IT HAPPENS REPETITIVELY. *JS
