TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND RACK AND PINION FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
THE DRIVER STEERING WHEEL FRONT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM BEHIND. WHEN WE RECEIVED THE LETTER ABOUT RECALL WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO SERVICE CHEVROLET IN LAFAYETTE, LA.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CHEV TRAVERSE TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITRAK, ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP! WHEN BOTH ACCELERATING AND APPLYING BRAKES THE CAR DRAGS. ADDITIONALLY THE AIR CONDITIONING BLOWS HARDERS ON ITS OWN.
PROBLEM STARTED AT 48,000 MILES ENGINE MISFIRES, DROPS POWER WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED, SERVICE AIRBAG, SERVICE STABILIZER WARNING MESSAGES COME UP ON DASHBOARD ALONG WITH ALL WARNING LIGHTS. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN TRAVELING AND REDUCED POWER OCCURS. CHEVROLET AND SERVICE DEALERSHIP ARE NOT STANDING BEHIND VEHICLE AND CANNOT FIND ISSUE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I FEEL AS THOUGH THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AS THIS COULD CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT WHEN DROPPING TO TWO ENGINE CYLINDERS WHILE DRIVING
MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED A USED 2012 TRAVERSE WITH 56,000MI ON IT LAST SUMMER. WE NOW HAVE 76,000MI ON IT, AND JUST RECENTLY WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE POWER STEERING LOSS THAT MANY OTHER TRAVERSE OWNERS HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT ONLINE. I AM GLAD TO KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT THE ONLY PEOPLE TO EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE - AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM THAT THERE HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEMS ON THESE VEHICLES AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SAFETY RECALL ISSUED. THIS MOST RECENTLY HAPPENED TO MY WIFE WHILE PULLING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY ONTO A BUSY ROAD - POWER STEERING COMPLETELY WENT AWAY. UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE, SHE ENDED UP IN THE OPPOSITE LANE WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC - SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND QUICKLY PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND BACKED INTO THE FRONT YARD AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. AFTER ALL THE COMPLAINTS FOUND ONLINE WITH THIS ISSUE I AM SURPRISED NOBODY HAS GOTTEN KILLED YET BECAUSE OF THIS - OR MAYBE THEY HAVE AND THEY JUST AREN'T HERE TO TELL US WHY THEY PULLED OUT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC DUE TO THE FACT THE POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING AND THEY COULDN'T STEER THEIR VEHICLE. "TAKATA RECALL" I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2012 CHEVROLET TAVERSE WITH 35,000 MILES FROM SUPREME CHEVROLET CADILLAC OF PLAQUEMINE ON 5/23/2016. THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR A LITTLE OVER A WEEK NOW, THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" SHOWS ON THE DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON, THE STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT IS OFF, THE PASSENGER WINDOW POWER BUTTON ON THE DRIVER SIDE WANT ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AT TIMES, THEIR IS A NOISE WHEN THE AIR IS ON AND ALSO WHEN I TURN IT OFF, AND GETS WORSE WHEN I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL.. MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN I NOTICED THE LIGHTS FOR THE AIRBAG AND ENGINE, IT WAS IN MOTION WHEN I NOTICED THE BUTTON FOR THE WINDOW, THE STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS OFF, AND THE NOISE BEING MADE. THEIR WAS A RECALL ON 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE IN DECEMBER OF 2015 AND EARLIER IN 2015, IM NOT SURE HOW LONG A RECALL LAST BUT IF I AM GONNA PAY ALMOST $41,000 FOR THIS VEHICLE I WOULD LIKE FOR NOT ONLY MYSELF BUT MY 3 CHILDREN AND FIANCE TO FEEL SAFE RIDING IN IT. IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO EXPLAIN FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME..
INTERNAL ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSION. MECHANIC WILL NOT EVEN DO 90,000 TRANSMISSION SERVICE ON MY VEHICLE AND STATED THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN SEEN WITH 2012 CHEVY TRAVERSES BEING SERVICED IN THEIR SHOP AND SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING WITH A VEHICLE AT THIS AGE/MILEAGE.
MAJOR SAFTEY RISK: MY TRAVERSE WAS WELL MAINTAINED WAS OFTEN FILLED WITH SOCCER KIDS. THE SAFETY FAILURE COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY! WHILE DRIVING, THE AUTO BEGAN DISPLAYING THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES IN RAPID SUCCESSION: BATTERY SAVER ACTIVE, SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK. I PARKED THE CAR TO DROP OF MY KIDS, THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. AFTER A JUMP, I HEADED FOR THE DEALER WHICH WAS 4 MILES AWAY. OPERATIONS APPEARED OK INITIALLY. ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE CAR ELECTRONICS WENT OUT. NOT JUST RADIO AND A/C, BUT ALL ELECTRICAL. I REALIZED THAT THE ENGINE WAS NO LONGER RUNNING WHILE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFICE ON A CHICAGO EXPRESSWAY. NO HAZARDS, NO WAY TO LOWER WINDOWS, I WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY TO FIND A GAP IN THE TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PARK. FROM THE SHOULDER OF THE EXPRESSWAY, CARS CONTINUED TO FLY PAST ME AT HIGH SPEED. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY CHAOTIC AND DANGEROUS. I WAITED FOR AAA TO ARRIVE. AAA WAS FORCED TO TOW (MY TRAVERSE IS FRONT WHEEL DRIVE) RATHER THAN FLATBED BECAUSE WITHOUT ELECTRICITY WE THE CAR WAS STUCK IN PARK. AT THE CHEVY DEALER, THEY QUICKLY READ THE ERROR CODES AND PRESENTED ME WITH A $1,400 ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR. SHARING MY FRUSTRATION AND POINTING OUT THAT THIS TYPE OF CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WAS WELL BEYOND ANY REASONABLE EXPECTATION OF A PRESUMABLY SAFE VEHICLE, THEY FOUND A WAY TO LOWER THE COST TO $607. (I DO RESPECT AND APPRECIATE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP.) THIS CLEARLY SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE AND CHEVY SHOULD CORRECT THESE ISSUES ON THEIR DIME. I BOUGHT THE TRAVERSE WITH THE EXPECATATION OF SAFETY AND RELIABILITY. I AM NOW VERY SKEPTICAL AND AM HESSITANT TO FILL THIS 8 SEATER WITH KIDS THE WAY I USED TOO. MANY OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR FAILURES. THIS IS A POTENTIAL MORTAL DANGER TO DRIVERS, PASSENGERS AND OTHER INNOCENT BYSTANDERS!
WHILE DRIVING MY AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON DASH CAME ON & MESSAGE (SERVICE AIRBAG) NOT SURE IF THIS IS LINKED TO ANY OF THE RECALLS FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM OR SEATBELTS. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 42516 & HAVE NOT YET GOT APPOINTMENT W/THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THE LIGHT COMES ON AS SOON AS I TURN THE KEY TO START & STAYS ON UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS PARKED & TURNED OFF. THE LIGHT IS ON THE HIGHWAY, ROADWAYS, & AT IDLE. KNOCKING ENGINE, RUNNING LIKE A OLD TRACTOR. ENGINE STALLED!! HAD TO REPLACE MOTOR. NO POWER FOUND TRANNY WENT BAD ON THE MIDDLE OF BUSY INTERSECTION. HAD TO REPLACE TRANNY. NOW POWER STEERING PUMP WENT COULDN'T TURN THE WHEELS ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD TO REPLACE. ALL REPAIRS PAID OUT OF MY POCKET. WHERES THE RECALLS?? SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME YEAR VEHICLE SAME PROBLEMS. ALL OF THESE HAVE COSTED ME SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS OUT OF MY POCKET. ALSO HAD TO PAY DEALERSHIP FOR THE BRAKES THAT WERE BAD. 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020 ALL THE YEARS HAPPENED. WIPERS WERE THE 1ST TO FALL OFF GOT REPLACED.
TAKATA RECALL- WHILE TURNING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, THE STEERING WILL LOCKS UP AND YOU CAN NOT TURN. I HAVE TO PUT MY CAR IN PARK AND THEN SHUT IT OFF , THEN I RESTART IT, AND IT WILL TURN. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. MY 16 YEAR OLD, WHO JUST GOT HIS LICENSE DISCOVERED THIS. I THOUGHT HE WAS DOING SOMETHING WRONG, TIL I DROVE IT TODAY, AND IT HAPPENED TO ME. TALK ABOUT SCARY?!!! WHAT IF I WAS TURNING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC, I WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT FOR SURE. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS INVOLVING THIS. WHY ARE THEY NOT FIXING THE ISSUE. ARE YOU WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE KEY FOB WAS UTILIZED TO OPEN THE REAR LIFTGATE. WHEN THE CONTACT REACHED INSIDE THE VEHICLE, THE LIFTGATE FELL ON HER NECK. THE CONTACT DID NOT GO TO THE HOSPITAL. HOWEVER. SHE WENT TO THE DOCTOR A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER. BECAUSE A LUMP FORMED ON HER NECK, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A DISLOCATED COLLAR BONE THAT REQUIRED SURGERY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000. UPDATED 08/17/16*LJ
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN APRIL 2016, WITHIN 72 HOURS I NOTICED IT WAS MAKING SOME HORRIBLE NOISES. MY FAMILY MECHANIC SAID THE IDLER BELT TENSIONER WAS BAD, MULTI MOTOR ISSUES, 2 FUSES WERE BLOWN, 2 BAD WINDOW MOTORS, AC WAS NOT SUPER COLD AND THE AIRBAG RECALLS WERE ALL STILL PRESENT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO GET SERVICED AND ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WRECKED IT IN SERVICE AND NO ONE TOLD ME SO I FOUND IT WHEN I GOT HOME, THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR CLOSE TO 5 WEEKS TO REPAIR IT AND THEN TAKE IT TO AN AUTOBODY SHOP SINCE THE DENT WAS BAD ENOUGH WERE THE REAR QUARTER PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW THAT I HAVE IT BACK, I HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTI TIMES WHERE THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT IN THE RAIN. AND TODAY THE AC STOPPED WORKING. I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS THE CASE FOR EVERYONE BUT AFTER RESEARCHING IT, IT DOES APPEAR I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THESE CHEAPLY MADE "AMERICAN" SUV'S. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND ALTHOUGH I MAKE GOOD MONEY- I DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH SAVED UP TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE DEALERSHIP AND CHEVY.
I WENT LOCAL CHEVY DEALER FOR TRASMITION WORK AND ENDING FIXING. TRANSMITION AND MOTOR ALSO A POWER STEERING HOUSE AND NOW STARED LIKING FROM THE POWER STEERING RACK IT COST ME 2300 DOLLS AND FM DON'T WANTED REMPLACE IT AND FM REPRESENTATIVE DONT WANT TO HELP ME.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWAY TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.

VEHICLE SHUTS OFF, CAN'T START ACCERLERATION DROPS. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON THE STREET.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MANEUVERED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
ENGINE ISSUES APPEARED AROUND 80K MILES. STARTED AS A PINGING SOUND WHEN DRIVING ONE DAY, WITHIN 20 MINUTES AND WITHOUT WARNING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND POWER WAS VERY LIMITED. WAS DRIVING ON A TWO LANE ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER, COULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH DIFFERENT SITUATION IF THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN A HIGH TRAFFIC AREA. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO REPORTED ENGINE FAILURE AND "REPLACED 2 RODS." COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. NOT EVEN 1 YEAR LATER, AT 100,750 MILES, THE ENGINE FAILED AGAIN. SAME SOUND WHEN PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. IMMEDIATELY PARKED AND HAD CAR TOWED AGAIN. DEALER STATED THAT IT IS NO LONGER WITHIN THE 100,000 POWER TRAIN MILE WARRANTY AND WILL COST UPWARDS OF $5,900 TO REPAIR. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS.
AS I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK STARTED FLASHING SEVERAL WARNINGS AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE CAR WOULD ALSO NOT ACCELERATE HIGHER THAN ABOUT 20MPH. THE ERRORS MENTIONED STABILITRACK NEEDS SERVICE, ENGINE POWER REDUCED, TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND OTHERS. I TOOK IT TO O'REILLY AND RECEIVED ERROR CODE P2138. HAD TO PAY OVER 400 TO GET SENSOR REPLACED AT DEALER BUT UPON FURTHER RESEARCH MANY OTHERS HAVE ENCOUNTERED THIS SAME ISSUE AND THE ISSUE KEEPS RECURRING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND SUDDENLY YOUR CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE.
2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, MILEAGE 57,993. WHILE DRIVING DURING A SNOW STORM I WENT TO TURN THE FRONT WIPERS ON. THE WIPERS ACTIVATED, BUT IMMEDIATELY STOPPED HALF WAY UP THE WINDOW. THE FRONT WIPERS BECAME TOTALLY INOPERABLE AT THIS TIME AND NOW NO LONGER FUNCTION. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ITS PLACE OF PURCHASE AND MECHANIC STATED BOTH THE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I TRIED TO REFERENCE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM NUTS RECALL DATED APRIL 9, 2012: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V151000, GM SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 12036, BUT NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP NOR GM'S CUSTOMER RELATIONS CENTER ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS RECALL APPLIED TO MY 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THIS RECALL SOUNDS LIKE THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT LED TO THE FAILURE OF MY WIPER SYSTEM.
MY WIFE LEFT FOR WORK ACOUPLE OF MORNINGS AND CALLS ME TO TELL ME THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE STABILITRAC LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE HAD TROUBLE DRIVING WHEN SHE WOULD PRESS ON THE GAS.
AFTER ROUTINE INSPECTION AND AN ALIGNMENT IT WAS REPORTED TO US BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE STEERING SYSTEM WAS LEAKING, SPECIFICALLY FROM A VALVE ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED ALREADY BY GM IN A SERVICE CALL REPORTED FROM ANOTHER USER: SERVICE #14329 FROM GM. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN GM MODELS, BUT IT HAS NOT BEEN APPLIED TO TRAVERSE RECALLS. REQUEST THAT THIS IS ELEVATED AND GM ISSUES A COMPLETE RECALL/REIMBURSEMENT FOR ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS STEERING LEAK TO SPECIFICALLY INCLUDE TRAVERSE/ACADIA MODELS.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 70MPH ON INTERSTATE, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY WENT ON AND I IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER TO 5MPH WITH ENGINE RUNNING ROUGHLY. I LIMPED INTO CHEVROLET DEALER WHO REPLACED MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND THROTTLE BODY. CHEVROLET CLAIMS THERE IS NO RECALL BUT A FRIEND WHO HAS 2001 TRAVERSE WAS SENT LETTER INDICTING A POSSIBLE PROBLEM COULD OCCUR INDICATING SAME CIRCUMSTANCE-"THE ENGINE TO RUN ROUGH , CAUSE THE MALFUNCTION-INDICATOR LAMP/AND OR REDUCED POWER MESSAGE TO ILLUMINATE,AND REDUCE THE ENGINES POWER. THIS CONDITION IS VERY SERIOUS AND COULD HAVE BEE CATASTROPHIC.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
THIS CAR HAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. THE STEERING RACK IS LEAKING WHICH WILL LEAD TO AN INABILITY TO STEER THE CAR EFFECTIVELY. CHEVROLET HAS AN SPECIAL SERVICE #14329 THAT COVERS THIS FOR A NUMBER OF MODEL YEARS INCLUDING 2012 BUT FOR SOME REASON THE VIN FOR MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED BUT IT EXHIBITS THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM. I NEED GM TO EXPAND IT'S SPECIAL SERVICE TO INCLUDE ALL CARS THAT EXHIBIT THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE MULTIPLE EXAMPLES HERE THAT ILLUSTRATE THE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ASPECTS OF THIS FAILURE.
SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS AN I HAVE CALLED DEALERSHIP AN GM COMPLAINT PLACE THEY DID A DIAGNOSTICS AN SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM AN WOULD COST ME 400$ THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT I KEEP MANITENAINCE ON IT . THE MIDDLE SEATBELTS IN THE MIDDLE AND BACK ROW LOCK UP AND WILL NOT RELEASE. FIRST IN THE SECOND ROW, THE MIDDLE SEATBELT LOCKS UP WHEN THE SEAT GETS FOLDED DOWN. THE SEATBELT WILL THEN NOT RELEASE. SOMETIMES YOU CAN PULL IT OUT AND LET IT GO BACK A FEW TIMES AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY COME OUT, BUT NOT EVERY TIME. THE MIDDLE SEATBELT IN THE THIRD ROW SEAT BECAME WRAPPED AROUND MY CHILD'S NECK AND WOULD NOT RELEASE. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND THE BELT WAS LOCKED SO TIGHT AROUND HIS NECK THAT I COULD NOT MANEUVER IT TO GET IT OFF OF HIS NECK. I WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO GET HIM TO BEND HIS NECK FAR ENOUGH TO GET IT OUR FROM BEHIND HIM, BUT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC IF HE DID NOT OR WAS NOT ABLE TO NOTIFY ME WHEN IT HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS MOVING. PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON.

THE LIFT GATE FELL AND HIT MY WIFE WHILE UNLOADING GROCERIES. WENT TO DEALER TO REPAIR AND THEY DID NOT HAVE AN ANSWER HOW CHEVY /GM IS GOING TO REPAIR THIS IS A RECALL
I HAVE A 2012 CHEVY TRAVERSE THAT MADE NOISE WITH TURNING, WAS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AND BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER WHILE DRIVING. POWER STEERING FLUID WOULD PUDDLE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. I ONLY HAVE A LITTLE OVER 35,000 MILES ON IT. THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY EXPIRED IN 6/15. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I CALLED CHEVY AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WERE UNAWARE OF AN ISSUE OF THIS NATURE WITH MY TYPE OF VEHICLE AND THAT I HAD NO OUTSTANDING RECALLS. THEY STATED I NEEDED TO HAVE IT TOWED (THEY OFFERED TO PAY) TO A DEALERSHIP TO BE ACCURATELY ASSESSED AS IF MY VERY EXPERIENCED MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THERE WAS AN ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT BASED ON MY VIN MY VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE ANY ISSUES. I TOLD THEM THAT BASED ON MY VEHICLE THE VIN HAS PROBLEMS AND THAT THE VIN DOES NOT PREDICT WHETHER IT WILL HAVE ISSUES. THERE MIGHT NOT BE A RECALL HOWEVER THERE ARE COMPLAINTS TO THE NHTSA AND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO MYSELF, OTHER VEHICLES DRIVING AROUND ME AS WELL AS PEDESTRIANS. I LIVE RIGHT BY AN ELEMETARY SCHOOL. MY STEERING MAKES A HORRIBLE SOUND AND BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS ON A HIGHWAY DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 55 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL STABILITY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND A MESSAGE OF A REDUCED ENGINE POWER MESSAGE WAS FLASHING CAR LOST SPEED FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN PICKED UP AGAIN. PULLED OVER TURNED CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS BEEN ON SINCE.

WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED BY THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME REASON. THE DEALERSHIP HAS RESET THE COMPUTER EACH TIME. THE LAST TIME THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER THE DEALER HAS STATED LOW FUEL VOLUME. THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE LIGHT COME ON THE SAME DAY USUALLY WITHIN AN HOUR OR TWO. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD US TO TRY HI TEST ETHANOL FREE GAS. WE DID AS TOLD WITH A FUEL TREATMENT THEY PUT IN THE TANK. THE LIGHTS STILL CAME ON. WHEN THE TRAVERSE IS STARTED IN THE MORNING(COLD START) THE ENGINE RUNS ROUGH. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 47000 MILES ON IT AND WAS PURCHASED NEW. WE HAVE ALWAY KEPT THE VEHICLE MAINTAINED. LAST YEAR THE TRAVERSE STARTED USING OIL A QUART OR MORE IN 1000 MILES WHEN DRIVEN ON LONG TRIPS.
THE BATTERY VOLTAGE DISPLAY ON THE DASH IS READING A BELOW NORMAL READING. BATTERY WAS REPLACED DUE TO THIS. BUT STILL THE DISPLAY IS READING A BELOW NORMAL READING. HAD BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED, ALL TESTS CONFIRMED BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR WERE FINE AND THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON THE DASH DISPLAY SHOULD BE SHOWING A LOWER READING. THIS OCCURS AT ALL TIMES, FROM CRANKING, TO IDLING AND DRIVING. AT TIMES THE READING WILL FLUCTUATE INTO THE NORMAL AREA, BUT IT IS BRIEF AND WILL SOON RETURN TO A LOWER READING. THIS OCCURS ALSO AT ALL TIMES ON ALL ROAD SURFACES AND ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS.
AT ALL PERIODS OF STOPPING AND APPLYING BRAKES AND PUTTING VEHICLE INTO THE PARK POSITION, THE VEHICLE WILL LUNGE FORWARD, APPROX 4-6 INCHES. THIS HAPPENS OF FLAT SURFACES, INCLINES, ANY AND ALL SURFACES. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED NUMEROUS FRONT END COLLISIONS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I APPLY THE BRAKE, THEN ENGAGE VEHICLES TRANSMISSION INTO PARK. HAPPENS ON ANY AND ALL ROAD SURFACES. VEHICLE DOES NOT LUNGE WHEN ONLY BRAKE IS APPLIED, BUT WHEN IT IS SHIFTED INTO PARK. AS SOON AS THE PARK IS ENGAGED IT LUNGES. NOTHING I DO CAN STOP THE LUNGE. THE 11TH OF SEPTEMBER, THE AIR ONCE AGAIN BLEW WARM AIR, TILL I STOPPED AND SHUT IT OFF, THEN UPON RETURNING, IT CAME BACK ON, COOL. THE 14TH OF SEPT, THE WHOLE DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT ON IT.! I PULLED INTO A STORE PARKING LOT, AND TURNED THE CAR OFF, LET IT SIT, ABOUT 10 MINS, AND STARTED BACK UP AND THEY CAME ON, I CAME HOME, AND TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE DASH 'HALO" STAYED ON, I OPENED THE CAR, AND CLOSED IT AGAIN, TWICE AND THEY FINALLY WENT OUT. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER, FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY NOW, I CAN'T AFFORD A HUGE BILL. THIS IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.

HARD TO STEER AT LOWER SPEED (WHEN PARKING OR COMING OUT OF PARKING, WHEN TURNING) IN ONE OCCASION I DID HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE WILE TURNING TO MY RIGHT, LUCKILY THERE WERE NOT SERIOUS DAMAGES AND NO INJURIES TO ANY OF THE PARTIES INVOLVED. I CAN BARELY TURN AT LOWER SPEED, I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE RACK AND PINION AS WELL. CANNOT AFFORD OVER $3,000.00 IN REPAIR COSTS. I DID A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF CHEVY OWNERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS.

I HAD BOUGHT THE 2012 CHEVY TRAVERSE IN DEC 2012, PRIOR TO MY DEPLOYMENT TO AFGHANISTAN. SINCE ABOUT 7 MONTHS THAT WE HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE IT HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP REGULARLY TO HAVE THE SAFETY RECALLS FIXED FOR THE AIR BAGS AND THE FASTENER. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ROUGHLY 8 TIMES AND STILL WILL COME ON WHEN IT DECIDES TO. IN JULY 2015 THIS VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE DO TO THE RATINGS IT HAD, BUT NOW THE WIFE HARDLY DRIVES THE VEHICLE BEING THAT WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON IT SHUTS THE AIRBAGS OFF CREATING A VERY LARGE SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR.
WHILE TRAVELING AT ABOUT 55 MPH IN FAIRLY HEAVY TRAFFIC ON AN UPGRADE, SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING MY CAR SLOWED TO 28 MPH. WE WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A TRIAXLE DUMP TRUCK. THE DISPLAY ON THE DASH SHOWED "CHECK STABILITRACK - TRACTION CONTROL OFF". WE WEREN'T FAR FROM HOME AND LIMPED BACK AT 28 MPH. THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR HAD COME OFF. NOTHING ELSE WRONG. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION - TO ALLOW THE CAR TO ONLY TRAVEL UP TO 28 MPH FOR NO REAL REASON. I HATE TO THINK WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS HAD OCCURRED ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC.

MY CHEVY TRAVERSE WAS HARD TO STEER, ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. I HAD FLUID ON MY GARAGE FLOOR, LUCKILY I LIVE A MILE FROM THE DEALER. AFTER CHECKING THE VEHICLE THEY FOLLOWED THE LEAK AND STATED THAT I NEEDED A NEW RACK AND PINION, POWER STEERING PUMP AND THEN AN ALIGNMENT. TOTAL BILL $ 2,600 AND THEY WERE NOT SURE IF THIS FIX WOULD THE PROBLEM. THEY STATED THAT THEY NEVER SAW SUCH A PROBLEM IN A VEHICLE THAT HAD LESS THAN 70,000 MILES. OF COURSE THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED. THE DEALER GAVE ME THE OPTION OF JUST DOING THE RACK AND PINION AND TAKING MY CHANCES WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I DECLINED ALL WORK AND HAD MY MECHANIC DO THE RACK AND PINION AND IT WAS STILL NOT CHEAP. AND I HAD TO GO TO MIDAS TO GET THE ALIGNMENT. HOWEVER THE VEHICLE STILL WHINES AND TURNS ARE STILL HARD, YOU WOULD THINK THAT A VEHICLE THAT COST OVER $30K WOULD BE BUILT BETTER....I BELIEVE I HAVE HAD 3 RECALLS AND I AM WAITING ON PARTS FOR ANOTHER ONE. A CO-WORKER TOLD ME THE SAME EXACT ISSUE WITH HIS LATE MODEL TRAVERSE AND CLASS ACTION SUITS.....HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE OR DIE BEFORE A RECALL IS MADE. I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL BE IN A SITUATION AND NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE.
