OCT 2019 HAD GEAR SHIFT HARNESS REPLACED BECAUSE SHIFT TO PARK WAS SHOWING UP AND VEHICLE WOULDN'T TURN OFF OR LOCK. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN IN DEC 2019 AND I HAD TO HAVE THE SHIFTER REPLACED. JUNE 10 2020, VEHICLE STOPPED CROSSING A MAIN ROAD AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS. HAD TO LET VEHICLE ROLL BACKWARDS TO A SEMI SAFE SPOT OUT OF TRAFFIC. POLICE HAD TO BE CALLED BECAUSE THERE IS A LOT OF TRAFFIC IN THIS AREA AND I COULDN'T GET THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO REPLACED. THEY SAID THERE AREN'T ANY PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX IT DUE TO GM BEING CLOSED DUE TO COVID. I ONLY HAVE 21,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND HAVE HAD IT FOR 2 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS. I DON'T HAVE PAPERWORK FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND A POLICE REPORT WASN'T FILED BECAUSE THEY ONLY PROVIDED THEIR VEHICLE FOR SAFETY CONCERNS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER ASSEMBLY FAILED. SHIFT TO PARK WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RECOGNIZE THE GEAR SHIFTER IN PARK AND FAILED TO TURN OFF DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MEDVED CHEVROLET (11001 W INTERSTATE 70 FRONTAGE RD N, WHEAT RIDGE, CO 80033), AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. *DT*JB
DUAL SUNROOF/MOONROOF DEFECT WITH A LEAK TO THE HEADLINER. *TR
VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED ALLOWING THE PEDAL TO TRAVEL TO THE FLOOR. ONLY A SMALL ABOUT OF REAR BRAKE PRESSURE ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO STOP. ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED TO BE A FAILED MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING ALL BRAKE FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER, SUCKING IN AIR CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE. HAD THE CAR NOT BEEN MOVING VERY SLOW WHEN THIS OCCURRED, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. VEHICLE ONLY HS 39K MILES. I AM BEING MADE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET. WORKING WITH GM TO UNDERSTAND IF THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR A BRAKE FAILURE ON A ALMOST NEW VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN PLACING CAR IN PARK, ERROR MESSAGE COMES ON AND SAYS PLACE CAR IN PARK. CAR REMAINS RUNNING AND WON'T SHUT OFF. *TR
WHEN DRIVING, THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SAYING " REDUCED BRAKING POWER---GET SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. SAFETY CONCERN. I TOOK CAR INTO THE DEALER. THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER SEAL HAD FAILED AND THAT BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. DEALER SAYS IT IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I CAN'T BELIEVE BECAUSE OF THE LOW MILAGE AND SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN THAT THIS REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED.
THIS IS NOT TO REPORT AN INCIDENT BUT MORE OF A CONCERN WITH THE ROOF STRUCTURE OF MY 2018 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE PREMIUM. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE WASHING THE ROOF OF MY SUV I NOTICED THE SHEET METAL FLEXING ACROSS THE CENTER MIDLINE OF THE ROOF FROM THE LIFTGATE ALL THE WAY TO THE WINDSHIELD. LUCKILY, I DO NOT HAVE A SUNROOF ON MY VEHICLE. THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE I EXERT WHILE SCRUBBING THE ROOF OF THE CAR IS LESS THAT 20 LBS PER SQUARE INCH. I TRIED CAPTURING THIS ON CAMERA BUT THE IMAGES KEEP COMING UP BLURRY. *TR
THE SEATBELT BEHIND THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT WORK. IT WILL NOT EXTEND TO BUCKLE IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THEY HAVE ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR IT AND REPLACE ALL THE PARTS, HOWEVER IT STILL WILL NOT WORK. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE 30K MILES AND GM REFUSES TO HELP. *TR
WHEN PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK THE CARS COMPUTER SAYS IT IS NOT IN PARK. (SHIFT TO PARK) COMES ON THE SCREEN AND THE CARS SYSTEMS STAY ON. *TR
WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND GO TO SHIFT IT OFF THE CAR DOESN'T SENSES THAT IT'S PARKED. WILL NOT SHUT OFF COMPLETELY AND CAN'T LOCK OR ARM CAR. RESTARTED CAR SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL SIGNALS THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK. *TR
THE REAR AIR VAPORATOR EXPLODED, RESULTING IN LOSS OF AIR/HOT AIR BLOWING OUT ON A RELATIVELY NEW CAR.
MY CAR WOULD ONLY STOP RUNNING WHEN AT RED LIGHTS I'D HAVE TO SHUT OFF AND RESTART.. JERKING TRANSMISSION ALL THE TIME THEN WHILE DRIVING EXPRESSWAY THE TRANSMISSION CAR STOPPED WHILE I WAS GOING 65 SHUT DOWN I BARELY COULD GET OVER MOST FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE EVER. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DEALERSHIP CANNOT GET ME OUT OF LEASE WITHOUT PAYING MORE MONEY FOR ANOTHER CAR.
PARKING BRAKE WOULDN'T RELEASE. SERVICE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT ON. I HAD PARKED ON A SLIGHT HILL. AFTER ABOUT TWO HOURS, I STARTED MY VEHICLE, PRESSED THE BUTTON, SHIFTED TO REVERSE, AND THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE. ODD! I LOOKED AT THE CLUSTER AND NOTICED THE 'PARK' FLASHING AND THE SERVICE PARKING BREAK LIGHT ON. I TRIED SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF PARK TO DRIVE OR REVERSE MULTIPLE TIMES AND EACH TIME PUSHING THE BUTTON. NO LUCK. I LEFT MY VEHICLE AT THE LOCATION SINCE IT WAS LATE AND SAFE. THE NEXT MORNING BEFORE HAVING IT TOWED, I TRIED ONCE MORE TO PUSH THE PARKING BRAKE BUTTON AND IT SUCCESSFULLY DISENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE AND THE SERVICE LIGHT CLEARED ITSELF. I NOTICED ON A FORUM THAT 2018 TRAVERSES HAVE THIS ISSUE AND DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY OR LETTING IT SIT FOR A FEW HOURS SOMETIMES RESOLVES THIS RECURRING ISSUE BUT NEVER FIXES IT.
SHIFT TO PARK ERROR MESSAGE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. THIS PREVENTS TURNING THE VECHICLE OFF, LOCKING THE DOORS, ETC. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED ON SEVERAL THOUSAND VEHICLES. HOWEVER, GM HAS ONLY QUIETLY FIXED PROBLEM CASE BY CASE AND WILL NOT COVER UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. A NATIONAL RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED ASAP TO FIX AND REPLACE THE SHIFTER. POSES A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL SINCE IT INVOLVES A FAULTY GEAR SHIFTER.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while attempting to park the vehicle, the vehicle hesitated and shifted out of gear independently. The vehicle was repaired prior to the failure; however, the failure became persistent. The manufacturer was notified on the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 93,000.

RIGHT FRONT MAKING A AWFUL SOUND 2ND TIME BROUGHT IN FOR REPAIR. RADIO-AND XM NOT WORKING- BLUETOOTH NOT CONNECTING. THIS TRAVERSE HAS BEEN A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT. ALWAYS SOMETHING WRONG NOW ELECTRICAL STUFF..
PURCHASED A YEAR AGO IN FL. MY WINDSHIELD CAME LOOSE TWICE ALREADY WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE PADDING IN THE DASHBOARD AREA AGAIN. THE TIRE ON DRIVER SIDE HAS TO HAVE AIR IN IT SEVERAL TIMES AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 20 MINS. PRESSURE KEEPS READING AT 26 AND ALARM GOING OFF WITH THE PROBLEM. HUSBAND REFILLS AND THREE DAYS LATER I MOVE THE VEHICLE AND IT HAPPENS AGAIN. WINDSHIELD YOU CAN HEAR AIR LEAKING FROM IT. SEVERAL TIMES WHEN I STARTED MY CAR IT HAD A WEIRD ENGINE NOISE LOUD ACCELERATION EVEN WHEN SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I READ NO RECALLS BUT POSSIBLE CLASS ACTION PENDING IF YOU REFUSE TO FIX THE VEHICLES. I WILL BE OVER 36 MONTHS BEFORE MY CAR REACHES 30K MILES. I DRIVE TO AND FROM DOCTORS, GROCERY SHOPPING. CASUAL DRIVING.
WHEN CAN GOES IN PARK AND I TURN THE CAR OFF A WARNING MESSAGE TELLS ME THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK AND WON'T SHUT DOWN. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON DRIVE OR REVERSE AND ATTEMPT AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES IN TWO DAYS. I HAVE THIS AS A VIDEO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WITHOUT THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT SECURELY LATCHED, THE HILL ASCENT AND DESCENT FUNCTION BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ON AN INCLINE, THE HILL DESCENT FEATURE FAILED AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WENTWORTH MOTORS DEALER, (139 FRANKLIN ST, DANSVILLE, NY 14437, (585) 204-0905) AND IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE FEATURE WOULD BE DISENGAGED IF THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT SECURELY FASTENED. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE FAILURE HOWEVER, TO PREVENT THE FAILURE THE SEAT BELT SHOULD BE WORN AT ALL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATE 21,958.
THE VEHICLE REGULARLY WILL NOT SHUT OFF DUE TO THE SHIFTER SENSOR INDICATING IT IS NOT IN PARK. THIS HAS AFFECTED THE ABILITY TO LOCK THE VEHICLE, AFFECTS THE BATTERY LEVEL, AND ALSO HAS BEEN REPORTED TO CAUSE INSTANCES WHERE THE VEHICLE OPERATES AS IF IT IS IN NEUTRAL INSTEAD OF PARK...ALLOWING IT TO ROLL ALTHOUGH SHIFTER IS IN PARK. UPON CALLING CHEVY, THIS IS ONLY COVERED UNDER THEIR BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY WHICH IS UP IN 36,000 MILES OR 3 YEARS. THIS ISSUE MOST COMMONLY OCCURS BEFORE THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRES, YET IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE SHIFTER MUST BE REPLACED DUE TO THIS SENSOR FAILURE AND IS AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. ACCORDING TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ACTION TAKEN TO ADDRESS THIS INCLUDING AND NOT LIMITED TO A RECALL OF THE PART WHICH IS CLEARLY FAULTY, OR THAT IT BE COVERED IN THEIR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BEING THAT THE POWERTRAIN DOES NOT OPERATE WITHOUT THE SHIFTER-IT'S IMPOSSIBLE.
I STARTED MY CAR AND IT FELT WEIRD AND MADE A STRANGE NOISE. AN ERROR MESSAGE CANDE ON SAYING 'STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED, DRIVE WITH CARE. THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE BRAKES SEIZED. THE DRIVER STAYED TO THE SIDE UNTIL THE VEHICLE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO GANDRUD CHEVROLET DEALER, (919 AUTO PLAZA DR, GREEN BAY WI 54302, (920) 309-5444) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000.
DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN A LOUD POP NOISE LIKE A SHOTGUN HIT MY SUNROOF, FOLLOWED WITH CRACKLING NOISE THAT IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME THAT UNDERNEATH THE SHADE THAT THANKFULLY ACTED AS A PROTECTION TO ME AS I WAS DRIVING WAS A MY SUNROOF THAT FOR NO APPARENT REASON EXPLODED. THIS HAS TO BE A RECALL OF SOME KIND! SO SCARY!
SHIFT TO PARK NOTIFICATION WHEN CAR IS PARK. OTHER FORUMS WITH SAME MODEL TRAVERSE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES.
FIRST ISSUE IS, WHEN YOU STOP DRIVING THE TRAVERSE, PLACE IT IN PARK AND HIT THE BUTTON TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE, IT WILL SHUT OFF THE ENGINE BUT NOT THE ELECTRONICS. THE CAR DISPLAYS "ACTION REQUIRED SHIFT TO PARK" EVEN THOUGH IT IS ALREADY IN PARK WITH THE RED P LIT UP. YOU CANNOT TURN OFF THE VEHICLE UNTIL YOU REPEATEDLY START THE VEHICLE, PLACE IT IN DRIVE THEN BACK TO PARK. EVENTUALLY IT WILL WORK CORRECTLY. VEHICLE WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THIS NOW HAPPENS EVERY TIME I TRY TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. I AM JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AND DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN AS THE RECOMMENDED FIX FROM MANUFACTURER DID NOT WORK. ALL OF WHICH ARE OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES DESPITE THIS BEING A WELL KNOWN ISSUE. ALSO, VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY HAVE A LONG DELAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE SHIFTS IN GEAR. YOU SHIFT TO D AND HIT THE GAS AND THE ENGINE REVS LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL AND EVENTUALLY IT WILL FINALLY START TO GO. THIS DELAY WITH ENGINE REVVING ALSO HAPPENS RANDOMLY WHEN AT A STOP AND ACCELERATING THROUGH INTERSECTIONS AND I HAVE HAD A FEW NEAR MISSES OF ALMOST BEING HIT BECAUSE OF THIS! THIS SECOND ISSUE ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN GOING FROM A STOP.
WE WERE TRAVELING ON VACATION AND WERE 2.5 HRS AWAY FROM HOME AT THIS TIME. WE STOPPED TO PUT GAS. WHEN WE EXIT THE GAS STATION TO ENTER ENTER THE STREET (BEFORE ENTERING THE FWY), THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND WE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WE WERE ABLE TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO APPLY ANY GEAR CHANGE. THE CAR WAS STILL ON, BUT WE WERE NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE THE CAR. NONE OF THE GEARS WERE FUNCTIONING, INCLUDING, PARKING, DRIVE, AND REVERSE. WE WERE LEFT UP HILL AND IT WAS SCARY BECAUSE EVEN WHEN THE CAR WAS PLACED ON PARKING, IT WAS GOING DOWNHILL. WITHOUT PLACING THE BREAK ON THE CAR, THE CAR WOULD JUST KEEPING ROLLING DOWN. WE WERE LUCKY THAT THE TRAFFIC WAS SLOW SO WE WERE ABLE TO GUIDE THE PARK DOWN HILL WHERE THE LAND WAS COMPLETELY FLAT. MY 2018 CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THE CAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT WAS A BROKEN AXLE!! I DRIVE MY 3 Y.O. TO SCHOOL ALMOST EVERY DAY AND I DRIVE ON THE FWY TO GO TO SCHOOL ABOUT 4 TIMES A WEEK. THIS MALFUNCTION COULD HAVE CAUSED OUR AND OTHERS LIVES. MY CAR IS SUPPOSED TO BE READY ON MONDAY, BUT I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT AGAIN.

FUEL ECONOMY SYSTEM, IT DOES NOT WORK RIGHT NOW, AND IT HAPPENED TWICE BEFORE. DOES NOT TURN OFF WHEN YOU STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. DELAER HAS UPDATED SOFTWARE IN ORDER TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE. 4. LOCKING AUDIO CONFIRMATION. WHEN YOU MANUALLY LOCK THE DOORS IT GIVES YOU AN AUDIO OR LIGHTS CONFIRMATION. IT DOES NOT WORK ANY MORE. DEALER LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE. 5. ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE. THE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ACTIVATED IT SELF WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. HEAVY TRAFFIC SITUATION 5 MPH AND THE E. BRAKE CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARDS. TURN THE ENGINE OFF SEVERAL TIMES, PUT IN PARKING, NEUTRAL ETC ETC. AFTER 5 MINUTES OF BLOCKING TRAFFIC HAD TO FORCE THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER. ALMOST DID NOT MAKE IT. TURN VEHICLE OFF AND CALLED THE FLAT BED. WHILE WAITING 15-20 MINUTES LATER TURN VEHICLE ON AND SURPRISE!!! IT WAS FIXED. MAGIC. THE E BRAKE WAS OFF AND THE VEHICLE WAS FREE. WHILE THIS WAS GOING ON THE E BRAKE LIGHT (RED) WAS ON, AND SERVICE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT (AMBER) WAS FLASING ALL THE TIME. DEALER DID AN UPDATE TO THE SYSTEM AND NOT SURE IF IT WILL HAPPENED AGAIN. BUT THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAPPENED. ONCE AT MY HOUSE ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO BUT IT TOOK ABOUT 1 MINUTE AND IT FIX IT SELF SO I DID NOT PAY ATTENTION TO IT. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE AT A SHOPPING CENTER BUT SHE LEFT IT IN THE LOT AND WENT BACK SHOPPING AND WHEN IT CAME OUT IT WAS FIXED.
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING THROUGH FIRST AND FOURTH GEARS, CAR SLOW RESPOND, JERKING, SHUDDER. AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR- BECAUSE SAFETY ISSUE VEHICLE-WILL SAY PUT CAR IN DRIVE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE. VEHICLE WILL NOT GO IN AUTO STOPPED MODE. VEHICLE ROARS -TO THE RIGHT WHEN DRIVING RIGHT FRONT BAD. THE DEALER TOLD ME THERE IS AN INTERNAL RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION-THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUES. THEY ARE NOT MAKING IT PUBLIC-THEY ARE JUST REPAIRING AS CUSTOMERS BRING THEM IN WITH COMPLAINTS.
POWER STEERING FAILED ON VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION. ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MODULE FAILED CAUSING EXTREME DIFFICULTY GETTING THE VEHICLE PARKED. STEERING RACK HAD TO BE REPLACED AND COMPUTER RE-PROGRAMMED. VEHICLE IS BACK AT THE DEALER WITH A SIMILAR TROUBLE CODE FOR A FOLLOW UP TO THE ORIGINAL REPAIR. IT TOOK GM OVER 4 MONTHS TO GET THE REPLACEMENT PART MAKING US DRIVE OUR VEHICLE WITH A FAULTY STEERING RACK NEVER ONCE PROVIDING A LOANER VEHICLE OR BUYBACK OPPORTUNITY. *TR
I WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO MOVE FORWARD, IT APPEARED TO DISENGAGE EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFTER AND DASH ICON WERE SET IN "DRIVE" MODE. THERE IS ALSO AN ALARM SOUNDING WHEN I SHUT THE VEHICLE MOTOR OFF AND THE DASH SCREEN READS "SHIFT TO PARK". I FOUND THAT I NEED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND SHIFT OUT AND BACK IN TO "PARK" IN ORDER FOR THIS ALARM TO SHUT OFF. IT APPEARS THERE IS A BAD CONNECTION BETWEEN THE COMPUTER AND THE TRANSMISSION OR VISA VERSA. GM HAS ALREADY ISSUED SEVERAL TSBS RELATED TO THIS VEHICLE AS YOU MIGHT BE AWARE.
I HAVE STARTED GETTING THE ERROR MESSAGE SHIFT TO PARK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PARK MODE. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE OFF WHILE THE ERROR IS PRESENT THE ISSUE OCCURS ON ALL SURFACES (FLAT AND SLOPED SURFACES ). THE ISSUE IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY AND AFTER RESEARCH APPEARS TO BE A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE.
ATTEMPTED TO PUT SEAT BELT ON. WON'T LATCH THEREFORE DOESN'T STAY ON. CAR WAS STATIONARY AT TIME FIRST ATTEMPTED TO USE THE SEAT BELT, WAS IN MOTION WHEN MADE SEVERAL OTHER ATTEMPTS. INTERIOR LOCKING MECHANISM MUST BE BROKEN/DEFECTIVE.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that upon parking the vehicle, the message Shift to Park was displayed and the instrument cluster displayed that the transmission was in neutral(N). The contact was unable to turn off the vehicle. The contact was unable to park the vehicle successfully after several attempts. The contact drove back to his residence where he attempted to park the vehicle again. The vehicle registered that the gear shifter was in park(P) after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the shifter assembly was replaced under GMC Technical Service Bulletin Number: 19-NA-206. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure occurred a second time. The contact was unable to turn off vehicle. The vehicle remained on until the battery was drained. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where an unknown repair was completed; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that he was concerned for his family’s safety as the repairs failed to fix the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
MY 2018 CHEVY TRAVERSE HAVE AN ISSUE GOING IN PARK EVERY TIME I PUT IT IN PARK THE DASH INDICATES SHIFT TO PARK AND I CAN'T TURN THE VEHICLE IGNITION OFF I CONTACT THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE SHIFTER THAT THEY'LL REPLACE IT THIS PROBLEM IS REALLY ANNOYING AND I HAVE TO SIT THERE AND PLAY WITH THE SHIFTER UNTIL IT GOES OFF. THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE AND A RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE.
FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS WE HAVE BEEN HAVING DIFFICULTY TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, WITH AN ERROR WARNING US TO 'SHIFT TO PARK', WHEN IT IS ALREADY IN PARK POSITION. THIS RENDERS THE DRIVER UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND WILL LEAD TO BATTERY DRAIN. WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN TO LUCAS CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON DECEMBER 31ST TO FIX THIS AND WERE MADE AWARE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, NOT YET AT THE RECALL LEVEL. IT HAS NOW BEEN A MONTH SINCE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ORDERED THE PART NEEDED TO MAKE THE REPAIR, ASSUMING THEY EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT IS. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE CONSIDERING WE WERE TOLD THE PART WOULD BE DELIVERED IN JUST A FEW DAYS.
VEHICLE WAS STOPPED ON A STEEP CITY STREET BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE TURNING LEFT. VEHICLE WENT TO MOVE FORWARD AND TURN LEFT AND IT SHUT OFF AND ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE STEEP HILL. WHEEL COULD NOT BE TURNED, BRAKES COULD NOT BE PRESSED, WHEN GAS WAS PRESSED IT DID NOT GO FORWARD, IT ROLLED BACKWARDS IT WAS LIKE IT SHUT OFF AFTER BEING IN AUTO STOP MODE. PARKING BRAKE ASSIST CAME ON AUTOMATICALLY AND VEHICLE ROLLED INTO A CEMENT POLE. VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT RELEASE. HAD TO SHUT OFF VEHICLE, RESTART AND TRIED TO RELEASE PARKING BRAKE 5 MORE TIMES BEFORE IT RELEASED. THIS VEHICLE OFTEN ROLLS BACKWARDS AFTER BEING IN AUTO STOP MODE AND THE GAS NEEDS TO BE PUSHED HARD IN ORDER FOR IT TO GO FORWARD. THIS VEHICLE FEELS LIKE IT SLOWS DOWN WHEN PRESSING THE GAS AT TIMES AND YOU NEED TO PUSH THE GAS PEDAL HARDER. THE BRAKES SQUEAK OFTEN WHEN WET AND COLD AND SOMETIMES WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE BRAKE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO PUSH IT DOWN, YOU HAVE TO PUSH IT SEVERAL TIMES, LET UP AND PUSH IT AGAIN BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL START.
2018 CHEVY TRAVERSE WHEN DECELERATING AROUND SPEEDS UNDER 35MPH CITY DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY REV UP AND THE RPM WILL GO UP TO 4000 OR 5000 RPM, THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHILE BRAKING. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL JERK FORWARD AS IF IT WAS GOING TO ACCELERATE AND OTHER TIMES IT JUST STAYS AT A HIGH RPM FOR 5 SECONDS OR LESS UNTIL I EITHER COME TO A COMPLETE STOP OR TRY TO ACCELERATE AND IT DOES NOT RESPOND. THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL AND THE ACCELERATOR IS BEING HELD DOWN. IT ALSO DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE GAS PEDAL WHEN IT IS REVING LIKE THIS, AND IF I TRY TO ACCELERATE THE CAR WILL EVENTUALLY KICK INTO GEAR AND LUNGE FORWARD. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WITHING THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF OWNING IT AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND SAID THE COMPUTER DID NOT RETURN ANY ISSUE. THIS PROBLEM COMES AND GOES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 2018 AND CONCERNS ME, BECAUSE IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR IS ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN AND MAY CAUSE ME TO CRASH.

OCTOBER 11, 2019 - WHEN GOING TO TURN VEHICLE OFF I GET AN ALERT TO PUT VEHICLE IN PARK ON CONSOLE EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE IS ALREADY IN PARK. HAS BEE DOING THIS FOR 1 WEEK. JIGGLING SHIFTER SOMETIMES WORKS. SOMETIMES NECESSARY TO RESTART VEHICLE AND MOVE FORWARD AND BACK. APPEARS THERE ARE MULTIPLE OTHER REPORTS OF THIS BUT NO RECALL AS OF YET.

The contact stated that the vehicle then restarted on its own with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that no issues were found however, the computer system was reset. The contact stated the failure reoccurred while making a left turn at a stoplight. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 21,685. Consumer stated vehicle has been in the shop for 6 months and still in the shop.
WHEN I ATTEMPT TO TURN MY VEHICLE OFF, I GET A MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN THAT SAYS TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I VERIFIED THAT THE CAR IS IN PARK AND THE SCREEN READS THAT IT IS. THE MESSAGE CONTINUES, AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO SHUT ANYTHING OFF OR LOCK THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE JUST CONTINUES TO CHIME. THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. BUT THEN, I CANNOT LOCK THE VEHICLE. I HAVE INCLUDED A PICTURE OF THE SCREEN TO SHOW WHAT I AM SEEING. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL ISSUES ONLINE REGARDING GM VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP, WHO HAS LEFT ME STRANDED WITHOUT A CAR, THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS BUT THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH ISSUES OUT THERE TO WARRANT A RECALL. IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD REQUIRE IMMEDIATE ATTENTION.
WHEN I SHUT OFF MY CAR IT SAYS TO SHIFT INTO PARK REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT IT IS AND WON'T SHUT OFF FOR A WHILE I THINK THE SHIFTER HAS A DEFECTIVE PROBLEM

IT LURCHED AS IF SOMEONE WAS PUNCHING THE GAS PEDAL QUITE AGGRESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE LIGHT EVENTUALLY ILLUMINATED. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED. AT THIS TIME THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE (FROM FEBRUARY 2018) BUT NO KNOWN REPAIR.
MULTIPLE INSTANCES HAVE OCCURRED WHERE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM AND OTHER AREAS OF DASH RANDOMLY SHUTDOWN WHILE DRIVING. MUSIC CAN NOT BE PLAYED, TURN SIGNAL SOUNDS ARE NO LONGER HEARD, AND VOICE OPERATIONS DO NOT WORK. TURNING CAR ON AND OFF DOES NOT SOLVE PROBLEM, HOWEVER AFTER SITTING OVER NIGHT SEEMS TO WORK NORMAL. MOST RECENT TWO INSTANCES HAPPENED SEPTEMBER 14TH, 2019 AND SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2019 SO JUST A WEEK APART.
WHEN PARKING SHIFT INTO PARK AND CAR SAYS TO" SHIFT INTO PARK", AND WILL NOT TURN OFF. TAKES MULTIPLE SHIFTS TO GET CAR TO RECOGNIZE IT ALREADY IS IN PARK. THIS HAS DONE THIS FOR WEEKS, NOT JUST ON DATE LISTED BELOW. STILL UNDER WARRANTEE AND THEY CHARGED US TO FIX IT ON 09/16/2019. HEADING TO DEALER SHIP 09/17/2019 TO FIGHT FOR MONEY BACK.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH MY 2018 TRAVERSE SINCE DECEMBER. THE PROBLEM STARTED AROUND 9,000 MILES. I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. I WOULD PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND THE "D" LIGHT WOULD BLINK BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. IN MARCH AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY FINALLY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THEY REMOVED THE TRANSMISSION AND REPLACED A SENSOR. THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES UNTIL JULY 23RD WHEN DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD THE CAR GOT STUCK IN FIRST GEAR. I WAS PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND THEY REPLACED THE TCM AND SOLENOID SENSOR. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE ON 8/8 ONLY TO RETURN ON 8/15 WHEN THE CAR STALLED AND JERKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. ON 8/16 I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME CHEVROLET ADVISED THEM TO CLEAR THE CODE AND RETURN THE VEHICLE TO ME. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO THEM AND THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT IS WORKING ON FIGURING OUT THE PROBLEM. AS OF 8/18/2019 THIS VEHICLE HAS SPENT 47 DAYS IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS AND HAS 10 REPAIR ORDERS.
VEHICLE STARTS INTERMITTENTLY AND ONCE STARTED IT WILL RUN FOR A WHILE, THEN ENGINE WILL TURN OFF, ALL POWER STEERING, BRAKES ETC WILL NOT WORK. TRIED JUMPING THE VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT POWER CYCLE.
THE CAR DOES NOT REGISTER WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK AFTER I TURN IT OFF. IT READS 'SHIFT TO PARK' AND I HAVE TO SPEND SEVERAL MINUTES JIGGLING THE SHIFTER OR RESTARTING THE CAR AND GOING THROUGH DIFFERENT GEARS. IT IS A VERY BIG INCONVENIENCE. I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP AS IT STARTED RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. THEY SAID EITHER THE SHIFTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED OR THE GEARBOX VIA A CONVERSATION THEY HAD WITH SOMEONE THEY HAD AT CHEVY. THEY WERE TOLD CHEVY AND GMC ARE AWARE OF IT BEING A PROBLEM BUT IT'S NOT ON A RECALL LEVEL YET.
TAKATA RECALL MY 2018 CHEVROLET 3LT AWD TRAVERSE THAT WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2018 AND WITH ONLY 15K MILES DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS IN PARK WHEN PLACED IN PARK. WHEN THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF, AN ALERT POPS UP TELLING US TO SHIFT TO PARK AND WILL NOT FULLY SHUT DOWN. WE THEN HAVE TO WIGGLE AND MOVE THE SHIFT GEAR INTO DIFFERENT GEARS TO ATTEMPT TO GET IT TO ACCEPT THE FACT THAT IT IS IN PARK. MOST TIMES IT TAKES 10 MINUTES OR MORE TO SHUT IT DOWN. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME THE TRAVERSE IS DRIVEN. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED WITH MY KIDS BECAUSE OF IT NOT SHUTTING DOWN. WE WERE TOLD THAT WE NEED A NEW SHIFT GEAR ASSEMBLY.
