Service airbag system My car doesn’t start
My airbag sensor has randomly come on and off for about 2 years, it sense cut off and stayed off up until recently in early 2025 the “service passenger airbag” sensor comes on and stays on which affects the ability to pass a state inspection in Virginia.
The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 200. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated, and the message "Service Air Bag" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure might be a factory defect; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
Air bag light comes on. We have had it checked by 3 different technicians. They have found that it is an issue with the control module, and seat squibs need to be replaced. This is a $4000 issue that is directly related to the safety of the driver of the car. They said it looks to be a manufacturing issue but unfortunately is not covered by the extended warranty that we purchased.
My air bag light has been flickering on and off for quite some time now. I’ve taken it to a professional mechanic as well as Gerber and they have both fixed the issue by unplugging and replugging the harness underneath the passenger seat. I was told this issue with this type of Chrysler has been brought by the shop numerous times and I may have missed a recall repair on this vehicle. I have repeated this method numerous of times but at this point it is an inconvenience and safety issue. How am I able to receive a recall notice to get this issue fixed? I can be contacted via email [XXX] . Respectfully, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The airbag Service light keeps coming on. There has been no accidents to this vehicle. There was a airbag safety recall on Chrysler 2016, but when I contacted Chrysler, they said my vehicle fell out of the date range that they assigned the recall to it was manufactured before a certain date reference number 90517639. Chrysler should be responsible to ensure that buyers are safe in their vehicles and they need to help get this issue corrected
B0028-13 is the code that appears when a scanner tool is used because the "service airbag system" warning message came on. Reading the other U-Tube post concerning this problem it seems to be common and a possible danger to the driver and the front passenger.
I was unable to stop fast enough and went through a red light and t boned another car. My airbags failed to go off. Everyone, including the police officer was shocked that they did not deploy.
I was crossing over and intersection and another lady was speeding playing on her phone and didn't realize she had a stop sign and hit me directly in the driver side door she was driving a 2007 Chevy Tahoe SUV as well my car was deemed a total loss and not one of my air bags came out.
My car only has 24,778 miles on it and a message came up " SERVICE AIRBAG SYSTEM" The dealership says that it will be around $1500 to fix. Is this still under warranty?
Purchased this used 2016 Chrysler 200 from Dan Derry in Cedar Falls. The next day my son was driving this car the air bag light came on. Contacted dealer and they were not aware of any air bag issues with this car and told us we bought AS IS. From what I am reading on line Chrysler has know about this for some time. I see this has a huge safety issue that sounds like it is pretty expensive to fix. And even the people that have forked over the money to fix are still having issues. Took this to our mechanic and they are suggesting to take to dealer as there is a TSB on this issue. Not sure why a safety issue that has nothing to do with how the car is driven but how it was manufactured ends up being the responsibility of the sucker that bought the used car off a dealers lot.
A SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2016 CHRYSLER 200. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP FOR ANOTHER RECALL AND HAD THEM CHECK INTO THE AIRBAG SITUATION. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT WIRING HARNESS FOR THE AIRBAG NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND WILL NOT BE COVERED SINCE MY VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE OF THE WARRANTY. THE REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $1200.00. I DO NOT BELIEVE AS A CUSTOMER I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ITS NOT A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE AND I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE AIRBAG OR HARNESS TO WHERE I WOULD OF DAMAGED IT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND PURCHASING VEHICLES FOR THE LAST 30 + YEARS AND NEVER HAD ANY SUCH ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WITH NO SUCCESS INTO TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY. I WOULD LIKE TO PROVIDE A FORMAL COMPLAINT ON THIS AND SEEKING TO SEE WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE IN THIS SITUATION. CHRYSLER CANNOT EVEN ADVISE WHICH AIRBAG IS DEFECTIVE WHICH I FIND HARD TO BELIEVE IN THIS TIME AND AGE WITH ALL THE TECHNOLOGY PROVIDED. I FIND THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE PRO ACTIVE IN ADDRESSING THIS REPAIR BEFORE ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN TO CAUSE POSSIBLE HARM OR EVEN CASUALTIES.
ONE MINUTE THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL BE ON THEN THE NEXT IT WILL BE OFF. IT'S SOMETHING WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE EVERY TIME SOMEONE SITS THERE OR MOVE THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT CONTINUES TO GO ON AND OFF. I HAVE SEARCHED ON THE INTERNET FOR ANY RECALLS BUT DIDN'T SEE ANY. I DID NOTICE THAT OTHER PEOPLE ARE ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THIS ON EITHER BOTH, OR JUST ONE SIDE OF THE CAR. IT'S NOT JUST ME HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED TO BE FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT'S SON INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT WHILE HE WAS DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE AIR BAGS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND AN AUDIBLE ALERT WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GLENDALE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (10070 MANCHESTER RD, ST. LOUIS, MO 63122) AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS AN AIR BAG FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT RECALLS WERE VIN SPECIFIC AND THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON A COUPLE MONTH OUT OF NO WHERE AT FIRST IT WOULD COME OFF AND ON NOW IT'S ON CONSTANTLY
TL* THE CONTACT'S SON OWNED A 2016 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER SON WAS CROSSING AN INTERSECTION AT 35 MPH, A DRUNK DRIVER RAN A RED LIGHT WHICH CAUSED HER SON TO T-BONE THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT. THE CONTACT'S SON WAS TREATED AT THE SCENE FOR BRUISES TO HIS CHEST AND UPPER LEFT SHOULDER BUT HE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE OTHER DRIVER WERE UNKNOWN AS HE WAS ARRESTED AT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. DUE TO THE ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE AN ASSESSMENT ON THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. DESPITE AN OFFICIAL ASSESSMENT, THE CONTACT CONSIDERED THE VEHICLE TO BE DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. *DT
MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS OF ME OWNING THIS CAR. REGARDLESS OF BEING IN MOTION OR PARKED. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO A DEALER AND EVEN THEY SAID THEY RECEIVE THIS PROBLEM FAR TOO MUCH AND SAID I WILL HAVE TO COME BACK FOR THEM TO CLEAR THE CODE. OLEASE REPAIR THIS BEFORE IT COST MY LIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE'S.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHRYSLER 200. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG SWITCH LOCATED UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT WAS NOT SECURED, WHICH CAUSED THE PLUG TO DETACH FROM THE WIRING HARNESS INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ROAD CONDITION WAS A FACTOR IN THE HARNESS BEING UNPLUGGED. ADDITIONALLY, THE HARNESS WAS ALSO UNPLUGGED WHEN A PASSENGER ENTERED OR EXITED THE VEHICLE. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
AIR BAGS LIGHTS COMES ON INDICATING THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT HAS ONLY CAME ON AFTER I HAVE HAD A PASSENGER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND ON MY INSTRUMENT PANEL THERE'S A RED WARNING LIGHT THAT THAT AIR BAG IS NOT OPERATIONAL ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP AT JEFF WYLER EAST GATE IN BATAVIA OHIO 45102 513-7523447. I ALSO HAD TO PUT THE SAME 200 S IN THE SHOP FOR A MASSIVE OIL LEAK THAT ONCE I NOTICED IT AND THEN HAD IT CHECKED BY A CHRYSLER SERVICE ADVISOR THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE 3.6 L ENGINE AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 3.6L ENGINE THAT THERE WAS A TSB OR SOMETHING ON IT SO I DROPPED IT OF AT THE ABOVE MENTIONED LOCATION TO FIND OUT MY WARRANTY WOULD COVER THE PROBLEM THAT IT WAS THE OIL COOLER CRACKED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE $200 LIFETIME WARRANTY I HAD ON THE CAR. THE OTHER ISSUE WAS THERE'S A ENGINE LIGHT ON THAT INDICATED THAT THE COOLING SYSTEM WAS MALFUNCTIONING WHICH I HAD MENTIONED TO THE DEALER WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR OR THE SWEET BUNGENT ODOR THAT I SMELLED COMING OUT OF MY VENTS AT 5 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD GO AWAY BY 50 MILES ON MY ODOMETER AND NOW AT 66700 IT'S BACK AND WAS NOTICE BY THE DISCOUNT TIRE SHOP TELL ME THEY SMELLED A STRONG COOLENT LEAK AND I MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME MORE MONEY TO FIND IF THERE WAS A ISSUE THAT THAT HAD ALREADY TOLD ME WAS THERE AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR AT 5 MILES AND WOULD GO AWAY AT 50 ! TO BE HONEST I JUST BELIEVE I GOT USE TO IT!!!
AIRBAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. BOUGHT THE CAR USED FROM A DEALERSHIP IN JUNE 2019. VIN # IS NOT ON A RECALL LIST FOR TAKATA AIRBAGS. THE CAR IS AT COLLEGE, OUT OF STATE, WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTER. THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN HER AREA WILL NOT FIX THE AIRBAG PROBLEM FOR FREE BECAUSE THE VIN # IS NOT ON A RECALL LIST. I'M AT A LOSS SINCE THE COST OF REPAIR IS HIGH. I LIVE ON SOCIAL SECURITY & SHE IS GOING TO SCHOOL ON SCHOLARSHIPS. DOES SHE HAVE TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLY BE HURT BEFORE CHRYSLER WILL REPAIR THE AIRBAG PROBLEM-FREE? THE DESCRIPTION FOR THIS PROBLEM SAYS THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. HOW DO I KNOW IF THE CAR SHOULD BE ON A RECALL LIST? THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THE LIGHT HAS COME ON. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN MOTION, ON A CITY STREET AND ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS. THE LATEST OCCURRENCE WAS ON OR ABOUT THE DATE LISTED BELOW AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS STILL ON.
