AT APPROXIMATELY 12:30PM I GOT INTO MY VEHICLE (CHRYSLER 300 TOURING 2006 MODEL) TO DRIVE HOME. I PUT MY KEY IN THE IGNITION, STARTED MY VEHICLE AND THEN PROCEEDED TO CHANGE GEARS FROM PARK TO REVERSE. MY GEAR SHIFT WAS LOCKED/STUCK IN PARK. IT WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. I THEN TURNED MY CARE OFF AND PROCEEDED TO TRY AGAIN. I THEN STARTED UP MY VEHICLE (CHRYSLER 300 TOURING 2006 MODEL) AND THE GEAR SHIFT WAS STILL STUCK IN PARK. I THEN PROCEEDED TO GOOGLE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH MY CHRYSLER 300 AND THERE WERE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CHRYSLER 300 OWNERS ON THIS SITE WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. ON THIS SITE OTHER CHRYSLER OWNERS STRESS THAT THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM JUST HAPPENS OUT OF THE BLUE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S ACTUALLY GOING TO HAPPEN. IT COSTS $490 TO GET IT FIXED PLUS THE AMOUNT OF MONEY IT WILL COST YOU TO GET YOUR VEHICLE CHRYSLER 300 TOWED. THE OTHER CHRYSLER OWNERS ALSO STRESS THAT THEY'VE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH 2005, 2006, AND 2007 CHRYSLER 300 TOURING MODELS. I THEN PROCEEDED TO MAKE SEVERAL CALLS TO HANDLE MY PROBLEM AS FAR AS TOWING ECT... ALL I GOT WAS THE RUN AROUND AND I STRESSED THE ISSUE AS FAR AS THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM BEING RECALLED AND IT HADN'T BEEN. IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW I WOULD OF NEVER BOUGHT THE CHRYSLER 300 TOURING 2006 MODEL. I DON'T THINK IT'S FAIR TO THE CUSTOMER TO HAVE TO COME OUT OF THEIR POCKETS FOR A DEFAULT THAT THE COMPANY MADE ON A VEHICLE. THIS MODEL NEEDS TO BE ON THE RECALL LIST. IT IS NOW 4:03PM AND MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN ARE STILL WAITING FOR MY CAR TO BE TOWED. ## VIN PASSED ## CHRYSLER 300 TOURING 2006 ##
I DROVE TO THE GAS STATION, AND WHEN I WAS DRIVING AROUND THE CORNER THE CAR STALLED. I WAS GOING AROUND 20 MILES PER HOUR. I TRIED TURNING THE CAR BACK ON AFTER A FEW TIMES AND IT JUST WOULDN'T START. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I MANAGED TO START THE CAR BACK ON AND I DROVE IN A NEAR BY SHOPPING CENTER. AS I PULLED UP THE CAR STALLED ONCE AGAIN. I DECIDED TO WAIT ABOUT TEN MORE MINUTES BEFORE STARTING THE CAR AGAIN AND IT FAILED TO START. I WAITED AN ADDITIONAL 20 MINUTES AND FINALLY IT STARTED WITH A LITTLE HESITATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES NOW. *TR
STICK SHIFT WILL NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT FROM PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 05V46000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. NUMBER: 05V460000 (POWER TRAIN) AND CALLED THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,600.
THE ENGINE STALLED AS I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION WITH A RED LIGHT AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS VALVE SEAT FAILURE WITH NO COMPRESSION IN ONE CYLINDER, OF WHICH I HAVE FOUND MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. THEY AND SEVERAL OTHER MECHANICS SUGGESTED THAT THE ONLY WAY TO GO FORWARD WAS TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE ENGINE. AT 7 YEARS OLD THE CAR IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL, BUT THE FACT THAT THE ENGINE DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. WHILE GM IS RECALLING CARS FOR STALLING, THEIR CAUSE WAS MUCH MORE MINOR AND THEY FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGED IT - CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT AND I CONSTANTLY HEAR FROM THE DEALER ABOUT HOW THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THAT HAPPENING BEFORE WHEN EVEN THEIR MECHANICS ACKNOWLEDGE IT HAPPENS A LOT. *TR
EVERYTIME THE CAR WAS FILLED UP, IT STALLS A FEW TIMES. THIS HAD BEEN HAPPENING A LOT DURING THIS PST YEAR AND STILL CURRENTLY HAPPENS. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WHEN THE CAR STALLED, OTHERWISE IT WILL CREATE ACCIDENT. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING ON THE CROWDED TRAFFIC. AFTER IT STALLS COUPLE TIMES, THE ENGINE GOT CLOGGED AND IT IS DIFFICULT TO START(THIS WAS THE SAME TIME-DAME DAY AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK). I BROUGHT IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID HE CAN'T FIND ANYTHING SINCE AT THE TIME HE GOT THE CAR TO CHECK, IT DOESN'T STALL. *TR
MY 2006 CHRYSLER 300C ENGINE CUTS OUT EVERY TIME I COMPLETELY FILL MY GAS TANK. THIS PROBLEM WAS FIRST DETECTED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. SINCE, I HAVE BEEN VERY CAREFUL WHEN RE-FUELING. SOMETIMES I STILL ENCOUNTER ENGINE SPUTTERING AND EVENTUAL LOSS OF POWER AND STEERING CONTROL. I TRY TO MITIGATE AND CONTROL THE SAFETY RISK AS BEST AS I CAN. I HAVE TO QUICKLY THROW THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND CRANK THE ENGINE TO RESTART SO I CAN AVOID BEING A SAFETY THREAT TO OTHERS ON THE ROAD. ALSO THANKS TO CHRYSLER, MY WIFE REFUSES TO RIDE IN THE CAR WITH ME AS IT POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AT ANY SPEED ON ANY ROAD. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS EXPERIENCE IN A CAR BEFORE. THIS IS MY FIRST BRAND NEW CAR I BOUGHT JAN 6, 2006 AT THE AGE OF 23. I REGRET MY DECISION EVER SINCE. I HAVE LOST A TON OF FAITH IN CHRSYLER PRODUCTS AND THE BRAND IT REPRESENTS. THE ONE THING CHRYSLER SHOULD DO, IS TO RECALL THESE CARS AND OFFER THE FIX AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT MOVE OUT OF PARK. THE CONTACT DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32595.
I WENT TO SHIFT MY VEHICLE OUT OF PARK AND REALIZED THAT THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT MOVE. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAD NO LUCK. I WAS FORCED TO TAKE THE SHIFTER COVERS OFF AND MANUALLY PULL THE RELEASE CABLE IN ORDER TO PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT A DIAGNOSIS ALONE WOULD BE 135.00 DOLLARS. I DECIDED TO BRING THE CAR TO MY OWN MECHANIC AND HE DISCOVERED THAT THE SHIFT INTERLOCK LATCH WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. HE LOOKED UP A RECALL FOR 2005-2007 CHRYSLER AND TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER WOULD BE ABLE TO FIX IT. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE MY CAR WAS PRODUCED IN CANADA, IT DID NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SAME EXACT PART USED ON THE U.S. ASSEMBLY LINES. CHRYSLER SAYS THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THE SHIFT INTERLOCK LATCH BEING FAULTY BUT REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. THERE ARE MANY OWNERS OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM POSTING TO ONLINE FORUMS. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER BECAME STUCK IN PARK. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE SHIFTER FROM PARK BY PERFORMING ONLINE RESEARCH AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 145,000. *TR
CAR STALLS AFTER REFUELING. DIFFICULT TO RESTART AND LEAVES YOU IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. WE'VE HAD IT COMPLETELY STALL GOING 70 MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE AND ALMOST WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE LIMPING TO THE SHOULDER. TOO DANGEROUS TO RE-MERGE AFTER CAR FINALLY RESTARTS BECAUSE IT WILL HESITATE AND MISFIRE OR STALL AGAIN. THIS WILL HAPPEN ABOUT EVERY 2 MONTHS WITH NO SYMPTOMS BETWEEN INCIDENTS. ALSO SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE IN HOTTER WEATHER. *TR
I HAVE AN 2006 CHRYSLER 300 C AND AS I WAS LEAVENING FOR THE DAY FROM HOME MY GEAR SHIFT IS STUCK IN PARK AND WILL NOT MOVE. I'VE GOOGLE IT AND THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN CHRYSLER. *TR
ON 4 OCCASIONS SINCE DECEMBER 2012 (I PURCHASED IT 6/2012), MY CAR HAS STALLED AFTER FILL UP, ON ONE OF THE THREE OCCASIONS THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. ALL FOUR TIMES THAT THE CAR STALLED, IT WAS WHILE I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND TURNING. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TURNING ON TO A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN DAYTONA BEACH, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. I DO NOT OVERFILL MY TANK, I ONLY FILL IT UNTIL THE PUMP SHUTS ITSELF OFF. I HAVE HAD MY ENGINE CODES CHECKED AND THERE IS NOT INDICATION OF ANY REASON FOR THE STALL. I HAVE TWO CODES, ONE FOR AN AMBIENT AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR, AND ONE FOR AN OIL PRESSURE SENSOR. NEITHER OF THOSE SHOULD HAVE CAUSE A RANDOM STALL WITH NO WARNING. MY CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED, AND BABIED. *TR
AGAIN THE 2006 5.7 L HEMI STALLED AT A STOP LIGHT AFTER FUELING. HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK TO RESTART, AND I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED VERY SCARY! *TR
AFTER REFUELING MY 2006 CHRYSLER 300C IT WOULD SHUT OFF AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE CAR WOULD SHUT OFF AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN THE CAR IS REFUELED. THIS HAS CAUSED MANY SAFETY ISSUES BECAUSE OF THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THE CAR STALLING IN THE INTERSECTION. *TR
THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS. IT IS ON ITS THIRD ENGINE AND NOW A ROLL OVER VALVE. KEEP IN MIND WHEN WE LOST TWO ENGINES THE CAR WAS ON AN INCLINE. TRIED TO START WHEN WE TRY IT ACTS LIKE IT IS OUT OF GAS. IT DOES NOT START THEREFORE WE HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. TWO TIMES WE HAVE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. CYLINDERS 3 OR 4 JUST FELL OFF. ONE MINUTE IT RUNS GREAT THE NEXT MINUTE NOTHING. I THOUGHT IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH A FUEL PUMP. THIS LAST TIME IT SPUTTERED THEN SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHILE DOING A U-TURN. WE TRIED ONCE TO TURN IT OVER AND AGAIN IT ACTED AS IF IT WERE OUT OF GAS, HOWEVER IT WAS FULL, APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES PRIOR. WE DID NOT CONTINUE TO TRY TO START IT AND HAD IT TOWED. THE CAR SAT OVER NIGHT. THE SERVICE GUY SAID IT STARTED RIGHT UP IN THE MORNING. (MONDAY MORNING) THIS AFTERNOON, TUESDAY THEY CALLED WITH THE DIAGNOSES OF A ROLL OVER VALVE. I DO BELIEVE THIS IS THE REASON WE LOST TWO ENGINES. IS THIS A LEMON OR IS THIS NAGGING VALVE THAT IS A VERY BIG PROBLEM FOR MANY GOING TO BE A RECALL AS THE NEXT PROBLEM WILL BE GAS LEAKING EVERYWHERE OR VENTING TO THE AIR OR BOTH. DO NOT WANT TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC FOR THE CAR TO FAIL SO MY FAMILY COULD ANSWERS YES TO ALL THREE ABOVE QUESTIONS "THAT WOULD BE SUICIDE" ,AND WILL NOT SPEND $ 1700.00 FOR ANOTHER GOOD GAS TANK WHEN THE ACTUAL PART THAT COST $0.50 COULD BE LOCATED OUTSIDE THE GAS TANK. *TR
WE FILLED UP THE TANK, NOT TOPPING OFF, AND HEADED HOME. THE CAR WAS RUNNING SMOOTHLY, HESITATED AND STALLED. NO ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS, ETC. IT ALSO STALLED SETTING AT A RED LIGHT AND AT VARIOUS OTHER SPEEDS. THIS HAS OCCURRED AGAIN AFTER EVERY FILL UP SINCE. IF YOU PUT IN PARK IT WILL START RIGHT BACK UP. CHRYSLER DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE OR DENY A PROBLEM WHEN CONTACTED. I WAS TOLD TO GET A DIAGNOSTIC AND CALL THEM BACK. ONE SERVICE REP, AT THE DEALERSHIP, ACKNOWLEDGE A COUPLE OF OTHERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM THE CAR IS CURRENTLY THERE AND THEY ARE TRYING TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. WE KEEP OUR VEHICLES SERVICES, SO THAT IS NOT A PROBLEM. *TR
HELLO, I AM A CURRENT CHRYSLER VEHICLE OWNER AND IVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WHERE MY 2006 CHRYSLER 300C SRT8 WHICH JUST SHUTS OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS OR TROUBLE CODES REPORTED TO THE CARS COMPUTER. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN IM DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY AND THE CAR WILL JUST STALL OUT. EACH TIME I TAKE MY CAR TO THE AUTO MECHANICS, THEY ARENT ABLE TO IDENTIFY ANYTHING WRONG AS THERE ARENT ANY CODES DETECTED. MY VEHICLE EVEN STALLED WHILE AT THE MECHANICS SHOP AND THEY STILL WERENT ABLE TO ASSIST AS NO CODES WERE TRIGGERED. OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS, IVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AND COUNTLESS HOURS, STUCK ON MAJOR HIGHS AS WELL AS REPLACING CAR COMPONENTS IN A BIG EFFORT OF TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS CONCERN. TO DATE, I AM STILL EXPERIENCING THESE ANXIETIES. IVE BEEN OUT ON RELATIVE WEB SITES LOOKING THIS PROBLEM UP AND IT APPEARS THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO THOUSANDS OF CHRYSLER SRT/SRT8 OWNERS AND THEY ARE DEALING WITH SAME CONCERNS THAT I AM. IM INCLUDING A URL LINK TO ONE OF THE BLOG OF 10+ PAGES OF COMPLAINTS FROM OWNERS WHO ARE LOST, CONFUSED AND DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. I WAS IN PARKING STALL AND THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT SHIFT TO REVERSE SO WE HAD TO TOW HOME. AUTO CLUB WHO ASSISTED TOW SAID THEY SEE A LOT OF THE CHRYSLER 300S. WE DID HAVE REPAIRED. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT OUR SHIFTER NOW.
I HAD JUST REFUELED (FILLED UP - DID NOT CONTINUE FUELING AFTER THE PUMP AUTO-STOPPED) AND CONTINUED DRIVING TO MY DESTINATION (ABOUT 3-5 MINUTES). I HAD JUST COMPLETED A LEFT TURN, APPROACHING A RED LIGHT, SO I WAS "COASTING" AT ABOUT 15 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE DIED. LUCKILY, I WAS BESIDE OF A VACANT PARKING LOT AND WAS ABLE TO VEER INTO THE LOT AND OFF THE HIGHWAY. HOWEVER, IN DOING SO, I NOTICED THAT I HAD LOST STEERING CAPABILITIES AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS A GOOD THING I WASN'T DRIVING AT A HIGHER SPEED AND GOING AROUND A CURVE, BECAUSE I WOULD'VE SURELY WRECKED. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS STILL LIT UP (COMPASS, ODOMETER, RADIO STATION, ETC), BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER STOPPING, I PLACED IT IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE SWITCH AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THERE WAS SOME HESITATION, BUT IT DID START. CONTINUING TO MY DESTINATION, I COULD OCCASIONALLY FEEL THE CAR "SPUTTERING" OR HESITATING LIKE IT WANTED TO SHUT DOWN AGAIN, BUT IT DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN BEFORE I MADE IT HOME. HOWEVER, ON MY WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING AND BEFORE I LEFT MY DRIVEWAY, THE CAR ACTED LIKE IT WANTED TO DIE AGAIN. I HAD BACKED OUT OF MY GARAGE AND PUT IT IN DRIVE, SLIGHTLY PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND IT "SPUTTERED". IT CONTINUED "SPUTTERING" PERIODICALLY ON MY WAY TO WORK (6-8 MINUTE DRIVE). I AM REALLY BECOMING VERY NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING OUR COUNTRY ROADS, IN FEAR THAT IT WILL SHUT DOWN AND I WILL LOSE THE ABILITY TO MANEUVER THE CAR TO SAFETY UNTIL I CAN REGAIN POWER. *TR
ALL EQUIPMENT ON THE DASHBOARD SHUT DOWN FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES. EVEN THOUGH I KNOW I WAS GOING SOMEWHERE AROUND 55 MPH, AND TRYING TO STAY WITH TRAFFIC, I COULD NOT TELL MY SPEED, THE RPM READ ZERO, THE GAS LEVEL READ EMPTY, AND MY SPEED READ ZERO. THEN ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON AND ALL WAS NORMAL AGAIN. THIS REPEATED MAYBE 4-5 TIMES IN A ROW. OFF FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES, ON FOR MAYBE A MINUTE, THEN BACK OFF. WE HAVE EXPERIENCED ALL OF THIS HAPPENING MOMENTARILY (MAYBE LASTING A SECOND) SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED 1 1/2 YEARS AGO. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT GET IT TO HAPPEN FOR THEM, SO THEY COULD DO NOTHING FOR IT. THIS ISSUE HAS NOW ESCALATED TO A POINT THAT I FEEL IT COULD BE DANGEROUS IF IT CONTINUES, OR GETS WORSE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND I DID BUT THEY SAY WITHOUT THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON THEY WOULD HAVE TO KEEP THE CAR 4 TO 5 DAYS AND BREAK IT DOWN. THEN I READ IN THE PAPER THAT YOU HAS CLOSED THE INVESTIGATION INTO ENGINE STALLING IN SOME 2006 CHRYSLER CARS AFTER THE COMPANY EXTENDED THE FUEL WARRANTY. NO ONE CONTACTED ME ABOUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY (THEY SHOULD HAVE AFTER I CONTACTED THEM OF THE PROBLEM). I EMAILED THEM AGAIN AND THEY SAID THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE FUEL TANK PROBLEM WAS AND PROBABLY IS ON A LOT OF 2006 CHRYSLER AND BECAUSE THEY NEVER NOTIFIED ANYONE OF THE PROBLEM WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BILL. AFTER RE-FUELING, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES MULTIPLE STALL CONDITIONS WHILE ON THE ROAD. THIS CONDITION HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES AND CAN OCCUR BOTH WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I'VE NOTICED THAT THIS MORE FREQUENTLY OCCURS WHEN YOU FILL UP THE TANK TO THE POINT THAT THE AUTO SHUT OFF ON THE GAS NOZZLE IS TRIPPED. THE CAR GIVES NO WARNING THAT ITS ABOUT TO EXPERIENCE AN ISSUE UNTIL THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF, MOST LIKELY WHILE YOU'RE ALREADY ON THE ROAD. RIGHT NOW THE ONLY WAY TO COMBAT THIS PROBLEM IS TO NOT FILL UP THE CAR MORE THAN 3/4 OF THE TANK. THIS METHOD KEEPS THE DRIVER GUESSING AS TO HOW MUCH GAS SHOULD BE PUMPED, AND CAUSES MORE FREQUENT FILL UPS AS YOU'RE NOT USING 1/4 OF THE GAS TANK CAPACITY. ALL THE DASH LIGHT S FLASH ON AND OFF QUICKLY, THE CAR LURCHES VIOLENTLY, LOSS OF POWER, OCCASIONAL STALL. THESE TWO SITUATIONS MAY OR NOT BE RELATED TO EACH OTHER. I HAVE HAD THE FUEL TANK REPLACED ALREADY BECAUSE OF THE STALLING THAT WAS OCCURRING AFTER FUEL FILL UP. THAT TOOK CARE OF THAT SPECIFIC STALLING SCENARIO. THERE STILL REMAIN THESE TWO STALLING SCENARIOS. THEY ARE VERY WELL DOCUMENTED IN THE ONLINE FORUMS. MANY DRIVERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WAITING TO TURN LEFT. THE CAR JUST STALLED. I RESTARTED WITHOUT DIFFICULTY. IT WAS A FEW DAYS AFTER WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAS PROBABLY HAPPENED ABOUT 7 TIMES MORE SINCE THEN, EVERY TIME WHILE I WAS IDLING WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. EACH TIME IT RESTARTED ON THE FIRST TRY. HOWEVER FOR THE FIRST TIME TODAY THE CAR STALLED WHILE IN DRIVE GOING ABOUT 15 MPH. *TR
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT WITHIN 3 MILES AFTER REFUELING (FULL TANK). FORTUNATELY, NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE AHEAD OF ME, AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY COAST INTO A PARKING SPACE STRAIGHT AHEAD. AS DESCRIBED BY OTHER OWNERS, I LOST ALL POWER "EVERYTHING" STEERING, ETC. VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER A BRIEF PERIOD, AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY SUSPECTED THE TROUBLE WAS RELATED TO A FULL FUEL TANK AND FAILING VAPOR VENT VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK. I'M PARAPHRASING HERE BUT AS I UNDERSTOOD IT, LIQUID FUEL WAS BREACHING THE VENT VALVE WHEN TYPICALLY ONLY VAPORS ARE VENTED. REMEDY: REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. AN EXPENSIVE SOLUTION FOR WHAT IS SEEMINGLY A DEFECT EXPERIENCED BY MANY OWNERS. THE FUEL TANK HAD TO BE SPECIAL ORDERED, AND ONCE THE PART ARRIVED, I WAS TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK WITH AS LITTLE FUEL AS POSSIBLE IN THE TANK. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION, I COULDN'T TIME THE RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH MY APPOINTMENT SO I HAD TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE. I PURPOSELY DID NOT FILL THE FUEL TANK TO FULL, AND CONSEQUENTLY, DID NOT EXPERIENCE ANY SUBSEQUENT STALLING UNTIL I COULD RETURN THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE STALLED AND ALL OF THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS, THE ENGINE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,430.
STALLING OCCURS AT LOW SPEED AND AT STOPS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OCCURRED MAY TWICE WITH THE STALLING, SO THEREFORE MECHANICS AREN'T DETECTING THE PROBLEM THROUGH DIAGNOSTICS TEST. I'VE HAD 3 DIAGNOSTICS TEST RAN THUS FAR. I WAS TOLD COULD BE DUE TO SOMETHING DEALING WITH THE FUEL PARTS-I'M NOT TECHNICALLY INCLINED IN CAR TERMINOLOGY. PLEASE HELP.
