ON JUNE 11, 2009 I WENT IN TO HAVE TIRES PUT ON MY 2006 CHRYSLER 300 AT SOUTHERN TIRE, LEXINGTON PARK, MARYLAND. THE MECHANIC CALLED ME TO INFORM ME THAT THE INNER TIE RODS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED PRIOR TO PUTTING TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, AND THAT HE HAD CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, PARK DODGE, CHRYSLER JEEP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER FOR 6 MONTHS AND THERE WAS A TOTAL OF 3,123 ON BACK ORDER. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP MYSELF THE SAME EVENING AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE PARTS MANAGER BY PHONE AND ORDERED THE PART ( P/N 68028831AC) BUT WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. HE INFORMED ME THAT I SHOULD CALL THE CUSTOMER CARE LINE AT CHRYSLER FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER CARE LINE THAT EVENING TO EXPRESS MY CONCERNS AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE OF THE STATE OF CHRYSLER I SHOULD UNDERSTAND. I EXPRESSED TO ASK A CUSTOMER TO WAIT 6 MONTHS FOR A PART WAS UNREASONABLE. I WAS TOLD TO GIVE THEM 48 HOURS TO MAKE A DECISION AS TO HOW TO HELP ME AND SOME ONE WOULD CONTACT ME. ON JUNE 12TH I ARRIVED HOME AND THERE WAS A MESSAGE ON MY ANSWERING MACHINE STATING THAT CHRYSLER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST ME WITH A RENTAL OR LOANER CAR BECAUSE MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY (92,000 MILES). I CALLED THE CUSTOMER CARE CENTER AND ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR. THE SUPERVISOR INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND THAT SHE WOULD CALL ME BACK THE NEXT WORKING DAY. I RECEIVED NO CALL. I CONTINUED TO CALL AROUND AND GO ONTO THE INTERNET IN SEARCH OF THE PART AND TO NO AVAIL IT WAS NOT FOUND. CHRYSLER HAS TOLD ME IT IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND THEY ARE WORKING TO GET THE PART AS SOON AS THEY CAN BUT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. I DRIVE ALMOST 150 MILES A DAY TO WORK. MY FRONT TIRES ARE GETTING VERY BAD AND THE LEFT ONE IS "COUPLING" ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN THE VEHICLE. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PARTS ON BACKORDER AND NONE IN THE COUNTRY IF THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE? *TR
VEHICLE AFTER FILLING SHUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC OR WHERE EVER YOU ARE WITHIN MOMENTS AND IS VERY DIFFICULT TO RESTART, ISSUE HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES IN HEAVY FLOW TRAFFIC. INITIAL TIME WAS MAKING A LEGAL U-TURN AFTER FILING UP AND RETURNING TO TRAFFIC FLOW, VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN MID TURN BLOCKING ALL LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THANK GOODNESS TO GOOD DEFENSIVE DRIVING NO COLLISION OCCURRED AS DID NOT MAKE TURN UNSAFELY IN FRONT OF ON COMING TRAFFIC. *TR
ENGINE STALLS AFTER REFUELING AT VERY LOW SPEEDS AND OR IF I HAVE STOPPED FOR ANY REASON. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE REPLACED ALL CONTIGUOUS PARTS TO THE FUEL SYSTEM WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE 19 GAL FUEL TANK. THIS SAME PROBLEM APPEARS ON MANY INTERNET OWNER FORUMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WOULD LOOSE POWER. THE CONTACT WOULD PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD RUN NORMALLY FOR A WHILE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EGR VALVE IS DEFECTIVE IN THE VEHICLE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY COULD OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 54,913.
ENGINE STALLS WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS FULL. *TR
WHEN FOOT IS TAKEN OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE. THIS OCCURS ANYTIME YOU ACCELERATE, FROM 0 TO 50 AND FROM 50 TO 70. SUBSTANTIAL BRAKE PRESSURE HAS TO BE APPLIED FOR THE ACCELERATION TO STOP. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER OR NOT THE CRUISE IS ON. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO FIX UNDER WARRANTY AS THE MILEAGE HAD EXPIRED BY 500 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE VEHICLE JERKS AND HESITATE FOR 1 SECOND AND THEN IT DOES IT AGAIN. THIS FAILURE HAPPENS APPROXIMATELY EVERY THREE MONTHS. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED AND HE COASTS THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HE WAITS TEN SECONDS AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTS AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000. UPDATED 12/21/10*BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY CODE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO JERK BACK AND FORTH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTO SHOP WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THERE WAS A COMPUTER FAILURE WHICH WAS CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE PART THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED FOR REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND HAD TO BE ORDERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN JUNE 2007. DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE, THE LEFT OUTER TIE ROD WAS LOOSE AND THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS ACCORDINGLY. WITHIN THE NEXT 3,000 MILES, DURING A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE CHECK, THE CONTACT REQUESTED THAT THE DEALER INSPECT THE LEFT AND RIGHT OUTER TIE ROD FOR GENERAL PURPOSES. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE RIGHT TIE ROD WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE. THE TIE RODS WERE INSPECTED A SECOND TIME AND THE DEALER FOUND THE LEFT TIE ROD WAS LOOSE. THE TIE RODS WERE REPLACED A THIRD TIME. THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,890. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000. UPDATED 03/04/10 *BF TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS LEAKING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE PLUG ADAPTER. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS APPEARED ON AN AVERAGE OF 1 TIME PER MONTH SINCE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE 8/4/07. REPEATED VISITS TO DEALERSHIP GEGNAS CHRYSLER IN PHILADELPHIA PA HAS NOT CORRECTED ISSUE TO DATE. UPON CONNECTION TO DIAGNOSTIC MACHINERY VARIOUS FAILURE CODES HAVE APPEARED WITH ONE IN COMMON P0300 THAT RELATES SPECIFICALLY TO MULTIPLE CYLINDER MISFIRE OR ROUGH IDLE. THIS APPARENTLY IS DUE TO VALVES THAT ARE SLOW TO CLOSE DUE TO A BUILD UP OF CARBON ON THE VALVE SYSTEM . TWO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS (BRANDYWINE CHRYSLER AND GEGNAS CLAIM TO HAVE PERFORMED THIS TSB EACH AND IT TOOK LESS THAN A DAY TO DO. I HAVE RECEIVED A QUALIFIED SECOND OPINION FROM MIDAS MUFFLER THAT HAS INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS NOT A ONE DAY JOB AS IT REQUIRED REMOVAL OF THE MANIFOLD AND CLEANING AND POSSIBLE ROTATION OF VALVES AND SERVICING OF VALVE SPRINGS. I HAVE ALL RECEIPTS DOCUMENTING THE 11 RETURNS OF THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WILL GLADLY PROVIDE THEM UPON REQUEST. 1-800-MY LEMON HAS BEEN SENT THIS INFORMATION AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN REAPPEARED 3/30/09 AND AFTER ASKING TO ASSIST ME WITH THE CAR DUE TO LOSS OF POWER (THEY ARE CLOSE TO MY HOME) THEY PROVIDED WRITTEN DOCUMENTATION OF THE CODE THAT WAS FOUND AND ASSISTED ME WITH TRANSFERRING MY CAR TO DEALERSHIP WHERE NO ACTION WAS TAKEN BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT LIT DESPITE BEING HANDED THE SERVICE BULLETIN PHYSICALLY BY ME THAT DAY. THE OWNER STATED "HE NEEDED TO SEE THE LIGHT LIT- A BIG GAME THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR NOW! THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REAPPEARED 4/5/09 AND I SPOKE WITH THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN 4/6 AND ARRANGED TO BRING THE CAR BACK. THIS MORNING 4/8 THE LIGHT IS OUT AGAIN. TWO SENSORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED OUT OF FOUR ON THE CAR SENSOR (1/1 AND B2/S2), THE PCN HAS BEEN RESET, VALVE SPRING RETAINER LOCKS HAVE BEEN REPLACED , ALL SPARK PLUGS HAVE BEEN CHANGED OUT, AIR FILTER CHANGED, MAP SENSOR REPLACED, FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED, EGR VALVE REPLACED. WHAT ELSE IS LEFT TO RE LEFT! *TR
INTERMITTENT STALLING - REPETITIVE ISSUE INTERMITTENT STALLING OF MY VEHICLE WHILE IN PARK OR WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE 3X'S FOR THE SAME ISSUE; 3/21, 4/17 AND 6/23. SINCE THE PROBLEM OCCURS SO INFREQUENTLY, THE DEALERS (BERLIN CHRYSLER & MT. EPHRAIM CHRYSLER) HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR STALLING SINCE 6/23, NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AND WITH MY CAR BEING 41,000 MILES IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. THERE IS NO REASON WHY I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR (IF THEY CAN EVEN DIAGNOSIS IT) CONSIDERING I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE SAME ISSUES 3 OTHER TIMES WHICH CHRYSLER HAS DOCUMENTED. I DID SPEAK TO A REPRESENTATIVE @ 1-800-992-1997 WHO WAS VERY FRIENDLY BUT WHO COULD NOT GIVE ME A DEFINITIVE ANSWER. THE SERVICE RECORDS ARE IMPECCABLE ON THIS VEHICLE I SHOULD NOT BE CONCERNED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THAT IT'S GOING TO STALL AND CAUSING A DANGEROUS SITUATION TO MY WELL BEING. THREE DAYS BUSINESS DAYS AFTER MY PHONE CALL AND E-MAIL TO CHRYSLER THEY RESPONDED WITH A GENERIC LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY RESPONSE. THERE ARE VARIOUS FORUMS ON THE INTERNET OF FOLKS HAVING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300-C. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL REPEATEDLY UNTIL THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR MOVED OFF THE FULL MARK.. THE DEALER STATED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A VENT VALVE SENSOR INSIDE THE FUEL TANK THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER STATED THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE CHAR COAL CANISTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000. UPDATED 03/30/11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 50 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED FIFTEEN TO TWENTY TIMES WITHIN ONE MONTH. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS FOR THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
AFTER FILLING THE CAR WHEN WE BEGIN TO ACCELERATE THE CAR STALLS. WE HAVE REPEATEDLY ASKED THE DEALERSHIPS IF THEY HAVE HAD COMPLAINTS AND THEY SAID "NO". FINALLY, ON 2/14/14 WE SAW ON THE NEWS THAT CHRYSLER IS EXTENDING THE FUEL WARRANTY TO LIFETIME DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE FUEL TANK CAUSING STALLING AFTER FILLING. WE AGAIN HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS AND CHRYSLER COMPLAINT CENTER AND THEY SAID BECAUSE THERE ISN'T A RECALL THEY CAN'T FIX IT. HOW CAN THIS BE IF THEY AGREED TO A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DON'T HAVE A PART TO REPLACE UNTIL THERE IS A RECALL. THE COMPLAINT CENTER SAID THEY CAN'T HELP US IF THERE ISN'T A RECALL. WE ALSO HAVE AN ARTICLE FROM THE DETROIT NEWS ON 2/18/14 THAT STATES THAT THE NTL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION ENDED ITS INVESTIGATION AFTER CHRYSLER AND A SUPPLIER DEVELOPED A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM EXTENDING LIFETIME WARRANTY COVERAGE. IS THERE ANYTHING YOUR DEPT. CAN DO TO HELP CONSUMER? WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO RAM US IN THE BACKEND ENTERING A FREEWAY BECAUSE OUR CAR STALLS? *TR
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK TO DEALER IN STOCKTON, CA. CLAIMED IT NEEDED $1,800 REPAIR. CLAIMED SHORT RUNNER VALVE FAILURE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED ON AND OFF BEFORE COMPLETELY DIMMING. THE FAILURE OCCURS EACH NIGHT WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF THIS TYPE OF FAILURE AND INFORMED HIM TO BRING IN THE VEHICLE FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

THE DEALERSHIP EARNHARDTS HAD ME PAY 100 IN CASH FOR A RECALL==AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CUP PLUG 05V460000. I HAVE RECEIPT. THE PART THAT CONTROLS PLACING CAR IN D, R, N... WAS STUCK IN PARK. I HAD TO GET CAR TOWED AND PAY FOR THE REPAIR.
I PREVIOUSLY MADE COMPLAINT THAT AFTER FUELING AT GAS STATION MY CAR WOULD FLOOD AND STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING ME TO BE REAR ENDED BY VEHICLES BEHIND ME. I WAS TOLD BY [XXX] THAT CHRYSLER WOULD BE FIXING THE PROBLEM IN MARCH 2014. TODAY 4-1-2014 I CALLED CHRYSLER WHO STATED EVEN THOUGH I HAVE A 2006 300C MY VIN IS NOT COVERED AND THEY DENIED THAT ANY OWNER LETTERS WERE SENT AND THAT I CANT GO BY WHAT NHTSA HAS TO SAY. MY CAR IS STILL DANGEROUS TO OPERATE WHEN FILLED AND I HAVEN'T FILLED IT FOR YEARS PENDING THIS RESOLUTION WHICH THEY NOW REFUSE TO DO. THEREFORE I AM OPENING ANOTHER COMPLAINT AS NOTHING THAT WAS STATED TO ME HAS COME TRUE AND CHRYSLER DENIES EVERYTHING ON YOUR SITE AND REFUSES TO FIX MY CAR WHICH IS CLEARLY A 2006 300C 5.7. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
2006 CHRYSLER 300C HAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. IT GOES OFF REPEATEDLY WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH AN AUDIBLE BELL SOUNDING AND TIRE PRESSURES BEING DISPLAYED ON THE DIGITAL PANEL OF THE DASHBOARD. PROBLEM STARTED 11-12-08 UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION HAS ATTEMPTED 20 TIMES TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM WITH NO RESOLUTION. I HAVE FILED FOR THE LEMON LAW REPLACEMENT THROUGH CHRYSLER WITH NO AVAIL. I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BY ANYONE AT CHRYSLER DESPITE MY REPEATED ATTEMPTS AT RESOLVING THIS ISSUE. NOT ONLY HAVE I FILED FOR THE LEMON LAW REPLACEMENT WITHIN CHRYSLER, I HAVE ALSO FILED COMPLAINTS WITH THE BBB OF MICHIGAN, THE KY. ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE WHICH REFERRED ME TO THE NHTSA DUE TO THE SAFETY HAZARDS THAT THE CARS TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM DISPLAYS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN USE. CONSTANTLY WHILE DRIVING THE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. CHRYSLER HAS ATTEMPTED REPAIR FOR APPROXIMATELY 11 MONTHS AND HAVE CEASED FROM COMMUNICATING WITH ME AS A CUSTOMER. I AM REQUESTING A FORMAL INQUIRY BY THE NHTSA INTO THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEIR LACK OF COMMUNICATION TO CUSTOMERS TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES. I HAVE BEEN INCONVENIENCED FOR 11 MONTHS AND AT THIS TIME CARDINAL CHRYSLER LOUISVILLE, KY. 502 449-1900 SERVICE MANAGER CHARLIE TRYA, HAS HAD MY AUTO ATTEMPTING REPAIRS FOR 1, 1/2 MONTHS. CHRYSLER HAS REPLACED THE TIRE SENSORS, THE DASHBOARD DIGITAL CLUSTER, AND THE RECEIVER FOR THE TPM. UNDER THE KENTUCKY AND MICHIGAN LEMON LAW, MY AUTOMOBILE SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPLACED. I FEEL THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT CONTACT ME BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE, AND ACCORDING TO THE LAW HAVE FAILED TO PROPERLY REPAIR THE VEHICLE IN AN TIMELY MANNER. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CHRYSLER 300 IN JULY OF 2006. DESPITE FREQUENT OIL CHANGES, ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, MY ENGINE SEIZED AT 43,510 MILES ON OCTOBER 4, 2008 , REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. MY DEALERSHIP CLOSED AND I WAS INFORMED BY CHRYSLER THAT WARRANTY PERIOD ENDED. IT WAS A HUGE BLOW FINANCIALLY BUT I MANAGED TO HAVE A REBUILT ENGINE INSTALLED AT A COST OF $5,000. I HAD OIL CHANGED EVERY 4000 TO 6000 MILES BUT DESPITE THAT MY ENGINE HAS FAILED AGAIN AT 83,000 MILES. THE MECHANIC SAID MY OIL, COOLANT LEVELS WERE FINE BUT THE 300 IS NOTORIOUS FOR THIS. I?M BEYOND BELIEF TO NEED A 3RD ENGINE FOR A CAR I STILL OWE MONEY ON. LOOKING ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHERS HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS, I FOUND HUNDREDS OF OWNERS ON BLOGS, FACE BOOK AND OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2006 2.7L 300. I CAN NOT BELIEVE A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN DONE. MANY PEOPLE THINK THE BBB IN A NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION BUT THEY COLLECT FEES, RARELY LOWERING RATING OF COMPANIES WHO PAY THEM. CALLED DEALER - TOLD NEED TO HAVE IT TOWED IN AND REPLACE SHIFTER - THEY'RE JUST STARTING TO SEE THIS PROBLEM MORE FREQUENTLY. REMOVED SILVER SHIFTER TRIM BEZEL, DISCONNECTED SMALL CABLE FROM KEY SWITCH INTERLOCK, THEN ROTATED PINK PLASTIC PIECE UNDER THE FRONT OF THE SHIFTER (NOT THE PINK PLASTIC TAB ON THE SIDE OF THE SHIFTER) SO I COULD PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND USE THE CAR AND AVOID THE HASSLE AND EMBARRASSMENT OF TOWING. DROVE CAR TO DEALER THE NEXT DAY. THEY REPLACED THE SHIFTER - ABOUT A $500 JOB BUT GIVEN A GOODWILL EXCHANGE SO IT COST $100. SINCE I LIVE IN THE PHOENIX METRO AREA (READ HOT - HOT - HOT) - THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IN ANOTHER 3 YEARS BECAUSE THE SAME CHEAP REPLACEMENT PART WAS INSTALLED. STEVIE WONDER COULD SEE THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT DESIGNED IN DEFECT - USING SOME CHEAP PINK PLASTIC PART IN A HIGH USE AREA. THERE SUPPOSEDLY IS A METAL REPLACEMENT PART TO FIX THIS BUT YOU NEED TO TEAR APART THE CAR AND THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY TO REPLACE IT. YOU NEED TO REMOVE A BUNCH OF TRIM PANELS AND BUST A KNUCKLE OR TWO TO GET THE SHIFTER OUT. I WOULD HAVE HAD IT OUT IN ABOUT 10 MINUTES IF THEY HADN'T MOLDED THE "LARGE" BASE PLATE AS PART OF THE SHIFTER WHICH MAKES THE SMALL SHIFTER ASSEMBLY TWICE THE SIZE OF THE OPENING. *TR

SINCE I HAD AN EXTENDED CHRYSLER WARRANTY I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND FOUND THAT IT NEEDED REPLACEMENT BUT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. WHILE WORKING IN ROANOKE, VA I WAS LEAVING THE MALL AND WAS BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE AT A STOP LIGHT. LIGHT CHANGED AND PROCEEDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND THE CAR SPUN AROUND TWICE ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY. I WAS NOT GOING NO MORE THAN 15 MPH BECAUSE I WAS BEHIND THE OTHER VEHICLE. EXPERIENCE FROM DRIVING IN ALASKA ON ICE, I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CALMNESS AND NOT SLAM ON BRAKES AND KEEP THE CAR UNDER CONTROL. THE CAR RESTED IN THE TURNING LANE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. I KNOW THE OTHER DRIVERS WAS AS SCARED AS I WAS NOT KNOWING IF I WAS GOING TO SLAM INTO THEM BECAUSE I WAS SO OUT OF CONTROL. I CONTACTED MIKE AN ENGINEER AT CHRYSLER'S HEADQUARTERS AND LEFT HIM A MESSAGE AS TO WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND TO THIS DATE HE HAS NOT RESPONDED. I HAVE A HISTORY WITH THEM BECAUSE MY CAR ALSO SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. CHRYSLER FLEW A TEAM OF ENGINEERS IN FOR A WEEK TO CHECK OUT THE CAR, BUT THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD UNTIL THE CAR STOPS RUNNING OR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS IT'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO, BUT THEY WILL COVER THE COST OF REPAIRS ONCE THE PROBLEM IS FOUND. SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, WE BROUGHT IT TO PASSPORT CHRYSLER OF ALEXANDER AND WERE TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPT. MANAGER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS FROM A DEFECTIVE CAP THAT WAS REPLACED. HE SAID THE PROBLEM WAS HAPPENING WITH ALL OF THEIR CHRSYLER 300'S AND WHEN I ASKED THEM IF THEY HAD SENT OUT NOTICES TO CHRYSLER OWNERS TO INFORM THEM OF THE PROBLEM, HE SAID THAT THEY HAD NOT. HE TOLD ME THAT "OSHA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM" AND DIDN'T THINK IT WAS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO ADDRESS. WHEN I CALLED OSHA, THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T EVEN DEAL WITH AUTOMOBILES. ALTHOUGH THEY REPLACED THE PART IN MY CAR, I'M CONCERNED FOR OTHERS WHO MAY NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM UNTIL IT CAUSES PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF HIS VEHICLE, CAUSING HIM TO CRASH INTO A PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE AESTHETIC DAMAGES BUT NOT FOR THE AIR BAG. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED TO THE COTNACT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I BOUGHT A 2006 CHRYSLER 300C NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN MAY OF 2006. AT APPROXIMATE 25,000 MILES IT BEGAN TO SHUT OFF AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK COMPLETELY AT THE GAS STATION. I'VE ALWAYS PUT THE CORRECT FUEL IN MY CAR AS RECOMMENDED BY THE MANUAL AND THE DEALERSHIPS I'VE TAKEN HER TO FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. AT INTERMITTENT INTERVALS THROUGHOUT THE OWNERSHIP OF MY CAR, IT HAS SHUT OFF, STRANDED ME ON DARK ROADS AND HAVE ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS ON HIGHWAYS, BUSY STREETS WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THIS CAR HAS BEEN DEALERSHIP MAINTAINED & I'VE ADAMANTLY FOLLOWED THE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD SPARK PLUGS, FUEL PUMP, WATER PUMP, THERMOMETER CHANGED ALL NEEDLESSLY. I'VE SPENT CLOSE TO $4000 IN REPAIRS AND NEEDLESS PARTS.THE DEALERSHIP HAS RAN VARIOUS DIAGNOSTICS AND HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING WRONG. THE CAR NOW HAS CLOSE TO 76,000 MILES ON IT AND WILL SHUT OFF IF THE GAS TANK GOES TO THE QUARTER OF TANK MARK OR WHEN IT'S FULL. I NEVER TOP IT OFF BECAUSE I'VE BEEN WARNED NOT TO TOP OFF MY GAS INTAKE. I'VE SOUGHT SECOND OPINIONS ON WHY THIS MIGHT BE HAPPENING AND THE DEALERSHIPS IN NY, NJ AND FL HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT THEY RECEIVE FOR ALL OF THE CHRYSLER 300 SERIES. THIS IS A DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION THAT COULD POSSIBLY COST LIVES PLUS COST AN EXPENSIVE LOSS FOR THIS CAR. I'VE SPOKEN TO OTHER OWNERS PLUS RESEARCHED OTHER FORUMS, AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS ABOUT WHEN THE CAR IS FUELED ESPECIALLY AFTER THE CAR REACHES 50,000 MILES ON IT. THE LAST INCIDENT WAS OCT. 30, 2013 IN WHICH I WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY CAR SHUT OFF AT A STOP LIGHT AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. THE CARS BEHIND ME STARTED TO MOVE AND THE CAR DIRECTLY BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE TO KEEP FROM HITTING ME. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER 300. THE CALIPERS ON HER BRAKES HAVE BEEN FAILING FOR OVER TWO YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. HOWEVER THE DEALER WOULD ALWAYS RESURFACE THE BRAKES AND TURN THE ROTORS. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC FINALLY CONCLUDED THAT THE CALIPER WAS GRABBING THE WHEELS, AND THAT THE ROTORS DID NOT HAVE TO BE TURNED. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER , BUT THEY WANTED TO CHARGE HER $40.00 TO PERFORM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE BRAKES AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 TO 45,0000.
