THE STEERING JERKS AND CAR SHIFTS WHEN I HIT A POT HOLE OF BUMP IN THE ROAD ON MY 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN AND IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED US TO LOSS CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE A FEW TIMES, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN OR I WOULD DODGE THE HOLE. VERY SCARY WHEN IT DOES HAPPEN. WE HAVE HAD THE FRONT END CHECKED AND THEN TELL US THERE'S NO PROBLEM. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN UNLESS YOUR DRIVING OVER 40 MPH AND WHEN YOUR DRIVING 65 ON THE HIGHWAY, IT'S GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED ONE DAY. THERE'S NOT A SPECIFIC DAY, SINCE IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE IT AND HIT A HOLE OR BUMP IN THE ROAD. WE HAVE OWNED IT SINCE IT WAS NEW AND ALWAYS HAD THE PROBLEM. WE ARE ALSO HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING, WE HAVE INSTALLED 3 COMPRESSES, DRYERS IT WILL NOT COOL THIS LAST TIME IT WAS IN THE SHOP 8 DAYS. THEY MUST HAVE INSTALLED AND REMOVED EVERY PART THAT WOULD CAUSE IT NOT TO COOL, STILL BLOWS HOT AIR AND IT'S ALREADY 95+ DEGREES OUTSIDE. MY ELDERLY MOTHER DRIVES THIS ASPEN AND IT USE TO BE A GREAT CAR, BUT ONCE THEY BREAK YOU MIGHT AS WELL BUY SOMETHING NEW. IT'S NO WONDER THEY ONLY MAKE THE ASPEN 3 YEARS. WORST AND MOST DANGEROUS VEHICLE EVER.
SUSPENSION: EVERY TIME YOU HIT A BUMP OR POT HOLE THE VEHICLE THROWS YOU ACROSS THE LANE. FUEL TANK: EVERY TIME YOU FILL THE GAS TANK UP AND WHEN THE PUMP CLICKS OFF THE GAS SPITS OUT OF THE TANK AND LANDS ALL OVER YOU AND THE VEHICLE. ELECTRICAL: THE DASHBOARD WILL LIGHT UP WITH THE OIL SYMBOL FLASHING ON AND OFF. AIR CONDITIONING: THE COMPRESSOR BLOWS HOT AIR AND NOW THE ENGINE SPEEDS UP LIKE IT'S GOING TO EXPLODE.
THE FRONT VALVE LIFTERS AND TIME. THE REAR VALVE LIFTERS AND TIME ARE DEFECTIVE THE CAR DRIVES ROUGH AND MISFIRES FURTHER I CAN'T GET THE PARTS FROM CHRYSLER TO REPAIR THE TRUCK.
IN THE LAST YEAR I NOTICED THE CAR IS GETTING MORE BOUNCY. WHEN DRIVING ON THE CITY STREETS, IF I HIT A POCK HOLE OR BUMP IT SHIFTS THE CAR OVER AND IT IS WORSE ON THE FREEWAY. GOING OVER THE BUMPS BOUNCES THE CAR UP AND OVER!! THIS IS NOT SAFE ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY OR ANY ROAD, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO SHIFT INTO THE NEXT LANE. MY SON IN-LAW EVEN NOTICED THIS WHEN HE DROVE IT!! THE SUSPENSION FEELS TOO LOOSE!! WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS? THIS IS NOT SAFE!! THERE IS NOTHING IN THE CAR MANUAL!!!
THIS COMPLAINT INVOLVES THE FRONT SUSPENSION SYSTEM OF THE 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN 4X4. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ANY BUMPS ENCOUNTERED ON THE ROAD SURFACE WILL RESULT IN A SUDDEN SHIFT OF DIRECTION, OR "JUMPING" OF THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THIS CAN POSSIBLY SEND THE DRIVER INTO ANOTHER LANE OF TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS OF OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE. AS AN OWNER OF SEVERAL OTHER FCA VEHICLES (INCLUDING, JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND A JEEP COMMANDER) I FIND THIS VERY DISTURBING THAT NHTSA HAS NOT INVESTIGATED THIS PROBLEM AS IT HAS BEEN REPORTED ON SEVERAL OF THE CHRYSLER FORUMS. NO VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE THE FRONT END "JUMP" AND HAVE THE DRIVER SUDDENLY GOING IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION THAN INTENDED, THIS IS A DEADLY SAFETY CONCERN. BUT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED EITHER BY FCA OR BY NHTSA, THIS MAY REQUIRE THE USE OF AN ATTORNEY AND A LAWSUIT BEFORE THIS GETS RESOLVED AS IT SEEMS TO BE A SMALL MAJORITY OF PEOPLE THAT ARE REPORTING THIS ISSUE. *TR
DASH IS STILL ILLUMINATED, RADIO TURNS ON BY ITSELF AND CAN'T LOCK DOORS WITH THE CAR TURN TO OFF POSITION AND KEY OUT OF IGNITION. CAR DOOR CONTINUES DINGING NOISE AS IF KEY IS IN POSITION. DRAINS THE BATTERY. WHEN YOU GIVE THE BATTERY A CHARGE THE CAR WILL CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE BATTERY IS TOO WEAK. WE REPLACED THE BATTERY 3 TIMES IN ONE YEAR. CHRYSLER DEALER CANNOT FIND THE ISSUE. THEY STATE THE ASPEN IS KNOWN TO HAVE DRAIN BATTERIES QUICKLY. YOU CAN DRIVE OVER A SMALL BUMP OR POT HOLE AND CAR WILL JUMP ACROSS THE ROAD. PLACED BRAND NEW TIRES AND CAR IS ALIGNED PERFECTLY BUT STILL MAKES THE CAR JUMP. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR WILL MOVE TO ANOTHER PERSON'S DRIVING LANE ON DUAL HIGHWAY WHEN HITTING A BUMP. THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR ANYONE AND SCARES MY FAMILY. ONE DAY, IF WE HIT A BUMP, I MIGHT SIDE SWIPE/CRASH INTO A PASSING CAR OR ROLLOVER OFF THE ROAD.
A " SNAPPING " OR " POPPING " NOISE DEVELOPED IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION WHEN GOING AROUND A CORNER AT ~ 30 MPH. IT WAS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN GOING OVER SMALL TO MODERATE BUMPS. BOTH THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE SAID IT NEEDED NEW UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS. I HAD THEM REPLACED AND THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. NO ONE CAN FIND THE SOURCE OF THIS NOISE. I AM CONCERNED THERE IS A MAJOR DEFECT AND IT WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE OR CONTRIBUTE TO AN ACCIDENT. THE 2009 CHRYSLER ASPEN WAS RECENTLY PUT ON A BUYBACK LIST FOR SUSPENSION TROUBLES. BOTH THE 2007 AND 2008 ASPENS ARE THE SAME AS THE 2009. I AM CURIOUS AS TO WHY THE 2008 AND 2007 WEREN'T INCLUDED ON THIS LIST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHRYSLER ASPEN LIMITED. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 5 MPH WHEN A NOISE EMITTED FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE WHEEL BEARING NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. 1. NO FAILURE HAS OCCURRED, BUT IT FEELS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. 2. DESCRIPTION: THE SUSPENSION IS TOO SOFT AND BOUNCY. THE FRONT END FEELS LIKE IT SKIPS ACROSS THE ROAD IF YOU HIT A BAD SPOT IN THE PAVEMENT; JUST NORMAL BUMPS. DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED, BUT IF YOU ARE ON THE INTERSTATE, IT FEELS INCREDIBLE DANGEROUS. CANNOT FEEL THE ROAD WHATSOEVER. TOO MANY "LARGE" BLIND SPOTS. I WON'T LET MY CHILDREN DRIVE THIS CAR, B/C I DON'T FEEL IT IS SAFE TOO DRIVE. 3. I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER MANY TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND VIBRATION ISSUE. THEY BASICALLY SAY THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG. *TR
