TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED AND PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM BEING ALIGNED PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,748.
BOUGHT 4 MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR HP TIRES IN OCT 2011 FOR OUR 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AWD. THE CAR CAME WITH MICHELIN TIRES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. SO WE WANTED THE SAME TYPE TIRE FOR REPLACEMENTS. TIRE ID # B9H2XKWX1910-----1 TIRE DOT # B9H2XKWX1911-----2 TIRES # B9H2WKWX2211----1 TIRE SIZE 235/65ZR17 PART # 33809 55,000 MILE WARRANTY TIRES WERE ROTATED EVERY 3,000 MILES AFTER THE JULY 2013 TIRE ROTATION THE TIRES BEGAN A WOOP WOOP SOUND AT ALL SPEEDS. SOUND VERY NOTICEABLE. TIRES AGAIN ROTATED AND REBALANCED(WITH NO CHANGE) 2 MONTHS LATER AND THEY STILL HAVE THIS SOUND. HAVE HAD THE CAR BACK TO THE TIRE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR MORE ROTATIONS AND BALANCING( NO CHANGE NEEDED) WITH OUT ANY RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. TIRES ARE STILL ON THE CAR WITH ONLY11,000 MILES ON THE TIRES SINCE PURCHASE. *TR
OUR CAR SUFFERED FROM A SEVERELY RUSTED FRONT SUB FRAME (ENGINE CRADLE) THAT REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. WE HAD THE SUB FRAME REPLACED, CHRYSLER REFUSED TO HELP OR COMPENSATE IN ANY WAY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
ADDING TO PREVIOUS COMPLAINT. I FIND THERE IS AN INTERNAL RECALL GRANTED TO ONLY A FEW. I AM OVER THE MILEAGE DUE TO MECHANIC'S FAILURE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. TOOK FOR A SECOND OPINION, WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE AND THAT THE CORROSION WAS OBVIOUSLY THERE FOR SOME TIME. CAR IS DANGEROUS THAT ENGINE CAN FALL OUT AT ANYTIME. DID CALL CHRYSLER AND THEY MADE NO MENTION OF RECALL LETTER OR BULLETINS RELEASED ON THIS PROBLEM. BASICALLY SAID SOL THAT THERE IS NO RECALL. THERE ARE HOW MANY PACIFICAS ON THE ROADS WITH DRIVERS UNAWARE THAT THEIR VEHICLE IS A DEATH TRAP TO THEMSELVES AND OTHERS ON THE ROADS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUED IMMEDIATELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, HE HAD TAKEN IT TO CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM BRUNSWICK GEORGIA (5400 ALTAMA AVE, BRUNSWICK, GA 31525) FOR A FULL INSPECTION. A WEEK LATER WHILE AT A STOP SIGN, THE CHECK ENGINE AND AN UNKNOW RED WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED A SECOND TIME. THERE WAS SMOKE AND FIRE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE FRONT HOOD AREA. THE CONTACT WAS OCCUPYING THE VEHICLE AS THE DRIVER AND MANAGED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL LINE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED THE VEHICLE CAUSING TO IGNITE INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A FIRE AND POLICE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A JUNK YARD WHERE IT WAS BEING INVESTIGATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A SIMILAR RECALL BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,503.
MY 2004 PACIFICA WITH A RUSTED THROUGH ENGINE CRADLE. THERE IS A SERVICE MEMO, CSC-10045080-7364, PERTAINING TO AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS PART. CHRYSLER TELLS ME THAT IT DOESN'T APPLY IN MY CASE SINCE THE BUILD DATE OF MY VEHICLE PRECEDES THE BUILD DATES COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I ONLY HAVE 85,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT EXTENDING THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BUILD DATE RANGE IS CALLED FOR. CERTAINLY THE FRAME OF AN AUTOMOBILE SHOULD LAST MORE THAN 87,000 MILES. *TR
FOUR MONTHS AFTER REPLACING A REAR MOTOR MOUNT. IT FAILED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT CAUSE THE OTHER TWO MOTOR MOUNTS TO FAIL WHICH MELTED WIRES LEADING TO THE FAILURE OF THE CAR'S POWER CONTROL MODULE. THIS RESULTED IN A LOSS OF SPEEDOMETER, OTHER ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS, AND THE LOSS OF THREE IGNITION COILS. IT WAS BROUGHT TO A DEALER WHO FIXED THE PCM, AND LATER DISCOVERED THAT ALL MOTOR MOUNTS NEED REPLACING. HE HAD NO EXPLANATION WHY A MOTOR MOUNT WOULD HAVE FAILED FOUR MONTHS AFTER THEY WERE INSPECTED TO BE SAFE, AND WHEN ONE WAS BRAND NEW. THE COST REQUESTED BY THE DEALER FOR REPAIR TOTALS MORE THAN $2,500. *TR
CAR WILL START OK MOST OF THE TIME. SEEMS LIKE WHEN I DRIVE ACROSS TOWN AND SHUT IT OFF THOUGH, IT WILL NOT START BACK UP. ONLY CLICKS AT THE RELAY. I'VE HAD THIS CAR TOWED 3 TIMES FOR LEAVING ME STRANDED. I HAVE FOUND SOMETIMES IF I WAIT 30 MINUTES AND TRY AGAIN IT WILL SOMETIMES START. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND A PACIFICA TO ANYONE, AND I WILL NEVER DRIVE ANOTHER CHRYSLER OR AGAIN. *TR
MY CERTIFIED MECHANIC HAS INFORMED ME AND SHOWN ME THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE ALSO KNOW AS THE SUB-FRAME HAS SEVERE CORROSION AND IS VERY DANGEROUS! AT ANYTIME THE FRAME MAY COMPLETELY SNAP CAUSING THE ENGINE TO COLLAPSE AND OR LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF VEHICLE IF AN INCIDENT OCCURS WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR MY VEHICLE MODEL AND YEAR. CHRYSLER IS VERY WELL AWARE THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE IN THE 2004-2005 PACIFICA'S ARE BAD AND ARE UNWILLING TO FIX MINE. THEY ARE STATING IT IS ONLY VEHICLE'S MADE AFTER 2/23/2004 AND BETWEEN 3/31/2004 AND MINE WAS MADE 10/9/2003. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. MY FRONT ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTING AND I FEEL THAT BECAUSE IT IS AT THE FAULT OF CHRYSLER THEY SHOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM. I AM ALSO PLACING A CALL WITH THE ATTORNEY GENERAL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX FOR ALL THOSE INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE THESE VEHICLES. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS 2004 PACIFICA FROM A DEALER ABOUT A MONTH AGO. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP TO GET MY SHOCKS LOOKED AT AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULDN'T DO ANY WORK ON IT BECAUSE THE SUB FRAME WAS ROTTED SO BADLY THEY ADVISED ME NOT TO DRIVE OR PUT ANY MONEY INTO THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. ALSO THERE IS CLICKING COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN YOU TURN LEFT OR RIGHT. AND ALSO A WEEK AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTER IS BAD. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT INJURY. THE FIRE WAS CALLED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC FOR A TUNE UP AND SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENGINES SUB FRAME CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,000.
DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMED THAT THE SUBFRAME IS ROTTING AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT (@$1890 + TAX). THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED BY CONSUMERS NUMEROUS TIMES. CHRYSLER WILL COVER THE COSTS FOR SOME CARS -- THOSE BUILT IN WINDSOR, ONTARIO FROM 2/23/2004 THROUGH 3/31/2004, BUT MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN WINDSOR ON 6/2/2003 AND SO IS NOT COVERED. *TR

I AM WRITING BECAUSE I AM SEEKING HELP. I AM THE 2ND OWNER ON A USED CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2004, PURCHASED IN MAY 2013. WHEN I FIRST BROUGHT IT MY FIANC HAD SOME CONCERNS WITH THE RUST UNDER THE CAR , BUT HE'S NOT A MECHANIC SO HE WASN'T ABLE TO TELL IF IT WAS AS DANGEROUS AS HE SUSPECTED IT TO BE. BEFORE THE CHRYSLER, WE HAD AN 05 MAZDA MPV THAT GOT TOTALED. WE USED TO TAKE IT TO THE MAZDA DEALERSHIP ON THE AUTO MILE ON ROUTE 1 IN NORWOOD TO GET REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND ETC... SO NATURALLY WE TOOK OUR CHRYSLER TO THE SAME PLACE AND THE MECHANIC TOLD US, "I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE YOU DROVE IN HERE WITH YOUR UNDERCARRIAGE IN THE CONDITION THAT IT WAS IN. WITH THAT INFO, I HAVE TRIED TO FILE A CLAIM WITH CHRYSLER CORPORATION WITH FAILED ATTEMPTS. I AM SEEKING RESOLUTION FOR MY RUSTY CORRODED CROSS MEMBER CONNECTED TO THE SUBFRAMES WHICH IS THE PIECE THAT HOLDS MY ENGINE. AFTER CALLING THE DEALER I BROUGHT MY CAR FROM, HE TOLD ME I COULD INVESTIGATE THAT CHRYSLER HAS HAD SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT OR REGARDING RUSTY, CORRODED SUBFRAMES OF THEIR 04-05 PACIFICA'S AND I FOUND A PARTICULAR ARTICLE AS I STROLLED THROUGH GOOGLE AND SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. THAT IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR, THERE WAS A BROADCAST FOR THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION FOR CHRYSLER 04-05. BUT CHRYSLER CORPORATION CLAIMS MY VEHICLE DOESN'T FALL IN THE BUILT DATES. THE REPAIRS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE, I GOT A QUOTE FOR $900.00 FOR THE REPAIRS WHEN I WENT TO MUFFLER MART ON 1579 COLUMBUS AVENUE FOR AN INSPECTION STICKER AND I WOULD LIKE CHRYSLER TO ASSIST IN THE REPAIRS OR HAVE AT LEAST A RECALL ON THE ISSUE OF ALL 04-05 CHRYSLER PACIFICA'S, BEFORE SOMEONE GETS FATALLY INJURED. THERE WAS ALSO AN NBC CHICAGO INVESTIGATIONS COVERING THIS SAME STORY, IN APRIL OF 2014, BUT IT WAS FIRST EXPOSED IN JANUARY 2014. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS PAST BEING HALF FULL, THE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO REFUEL THE FUEL TANK TO CAPACITY AND THE FUEL PUMP WOULD CLICK WHEN REFUELING AS IF THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE CONTACT WAS ONLY ABLE TO ADD A MAXIMUM OF SEVEN GALLONS OF GASOLINE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DETERMINE ANY DEFECT CODES FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. NUMBER: 04V113000 (POWER TRAIN) AND CALLED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE VIBRATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE EXHIBITED RUST CORROSION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
I TOOK MY PACIFICA FOR A FRONT END ALIGNMENT TO GET THE NEWS THAT MY SUBFRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH AND THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I THEN CALLED CHRYSLER TO ACT UPON A PARTS EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT WAS TO COVER THIS ISSUE, COME TO FIND OUT MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS WARRANTY, MY CAR WAS MADE 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS ISSUED FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL. MY QUESTION IS.... IF THEY KNOW THAT THE SUBFRAME IS BAD ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL WHY DOESN'T EVERY 04/05 FALL UNDER THIS WARRANTY? THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS LOGIC. THE SUBFRAME IS BAD AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BACK UP THERE FAULTY PRODUCT. WE LOVE THIS CAR AND HOPED TO HAVE IT AROUND FOR A LONG TIME, BUT NOW IT IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I"M LIKE MOST AMERICAN'S THESE DAYS AND CANT AFFORD TO PAY 1200 DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM FIXED. WHEN I WAS DOING SOME RESEARCH I DISCOVERED DAD IS HIS OWN COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER PACIFICAS. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH A CAR FROM 2004 SO I'M WRITING THIS COMPLAINTS BECAUSE I THINK CHRYSLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE SUBFRAME. THIS REPAIRIS GOING TO COST ME AT LEAST A THOUSAND DOLLARS NO I DON'T HAVE THAT MONEY AND I'M PAYING ON THE CAR SO PLEASE CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT'S I CAN DO. ON JANUARY 28, 2013 I HAD MY VEHICLE CHECKED FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS. AT THAT TIME I WAS ADVISED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR ENGINE MOUNTS WERE BAD ALONG WITH STRUTS. ALSO AT THAT TIME I WAS CALLED BACK TO THE SERVICE AREA BY MECHANIC. HE PROCEEDED TO SHOW ME THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTING OUT AND SHOWED ME VARIOUS PLACES WHERE IT HAD IN FACT RUSTED THROUGH. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I WAS GIVEN A QUOTE OF $1612.05 TO REPAIR THIS. DUE TO LIMITED FINANCES I HAVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THE WARRANTY WORK REPAIRED. AT THE TIME I BELIEVED THIS TO BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I HAVE RESEARCHED SEVERAL OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE REALIZED THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER ABOUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERED THOSE BUILT BETWEEN FEBRUARY AND MARCH OF 2004. WE HAVE JUST FOUND OUT THE SUB FRAME OF OUR 2004 PACIFICA IS SEVERELY RUSTED OUT. IT ONLY HAS 120,000 MILES ON IT AND IT ONLY 9 YEARS OLD! THERE IS NO RUST WHATSOEVER ON THE BODY OF THE CAR BUT UNDERNEATH IS COMPLETELY CORRODED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND FROM WHAT I READ IT'S NOT UNCOMMON. CHRYSLER HAS ONLY ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE SUBFRAME FOR A 30 DAY PERIOD OF PRODUCTION BUT APPARENTLY IT'S MORE THEN JUST THE ONES MADE IN THAT MONTH! CHRYSLER SAYS TO KEEP THE RECEIPTS IN CASE THE HAVE A RECALL BUT WHAT GETS ME IS WHY IS THERE NO RECALL YET!?! THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND AGAIN IT'S EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. WHEN TAKING THE CAR FOR AN OIL CHANGE, I LEARNED THE ENGINE CRADLE HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND CRACKED. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, I DISCOVERED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS CAR. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, WHO CLAIMED THAT THE CAR WAS MADE 7 DAYS TOO EARLY TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY SORT OF COVERED REPAIR. THIS IS RIDICULOUS, AS MY VEHICLE CLEAR SUFFERS FROM THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA STALLS OUT OF NOWHERE WHEN I'M DRIVING IT CAN BE WHEN I'M DRIVING AT 5 MILES OR EVEN 20,30 OR EVEN 50 MILES OR IF I'M MAKING A TURN WHICH IS VERY SCARY WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP ON ME. DRIVING AROUND 40 THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE. I THOUGHT MAYBE A WHEEL BEARING OR TIE ROD WAS THE ISSUE. UPON TAKING IT TO THE SHOP TO GET CHECKED I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED TO THE POINT OF ALMOST FAILING. I AM CURRENTLY HAVING THE CRADLE REPLACED. HAD THAT OCCURRED AT A HIGHER SPEED I HAT TO THINK WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THERE IS A REPLACEMENT PROGRAM FOR VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN FEB 23RD AND MAR31ST 2004. BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT JANUARY 23RD 2004 IT WAS NOT COVERED AND I RECEIVED NO LETTER. DESPITE THE FACT I WAS DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IN A VERY DANGEROUS STATE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING AN ADDITIONAL TEN MILES BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT ADDED A SMALL AMOUNT OF FUEL TO THE VEHICLE AND THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE DISPLAYED THE TANK AS BEING THREE-FOURTHS FULL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 102,000. UPDATED 04/30/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE FUEL GAUGE WAS ALMOST AT A HALF TANK. SHE THEN HEARD THE GAS LOW WARNING CHIME AND WHEN SHE LOOKED DOWN, THE GAUGE WAS READY EMPTY. THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND THE CONSUMER HAD TO STEER THE VEHICLE OFF TO THE SHOULDER WITH GREAT FORCE AND DIFFICULTY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PRIMARY PUMP WAS REPLACED IN DECEMBER AND THE SECONDARY FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED APRIL 6, 2013. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED WHEN SHE PUMP GAS, IT HAD TO BE DONE REALLY SLOW, OTHERWISE, IT WOULD FILL THE PIPE AND SHUT THE PUMP DOWN. IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 5- 10 MINUTES JUST TO PUT 7 GALLONS OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE. UPADTED 05/08/13
MY MECHANIC CALLED TO MY ATTENTION THAT THE SUB-FRAME ON MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND DEVELOPED CRACKS ADJACENT TO THE RUSTED AREA. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE AND THAT THE SUB-FRAME REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER WAS UNAWARE OF ANY RECALL, BUT CHECKING THE INTERNET I FOUND THIS CONDITION TO HAVE OCCURRED TO NUMEROUS OTHER PACIFICAS. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO INFORMED ME THAT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR 2004-2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA PRODUCED DURING A SPECIFIC TIME PERIOD AND ORIGINALLY LICENSED IN "SNOW STATES". THE WARRANTY COVERS SUB-FRAME REPLACEMENT UP TO 10 YEARS AND 150,000 MILES. UNFORTUNATELY MY VEHICLE WAS PRODUCED A FEW MONTHS PRIOR TO THE WARRANTY COVERAGE PERIOD. IT IS QUITE UNLIKELY THAT THE SUB-FRAME WAS PRODUCED SATISFACTORILY AND THEN IT BECAME SUBSTANDARD - ESPECIALLY SINCE THE EARLIER PRODUCTION ON MY VEHICLE HAS RUSTED THROUGH. IT IS SHAMEFUL AND IRRESPONSIBLE THAT A COMPANY WITH AS MUCH HISTORY AND ENGINEERING CAPABILITIES HAS DESIGNED AND MANUFACTURED A VEHICLE THAT BECOMES UNSAFE IN LESS THAN 10 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. IF THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTING LIABILITY TO REPLACE THIS INFERIOR PART THEY SHOULD AT LEAST HAVE THE DECENCY TO HAVE CONTACTED OWNERS TO MAKE THEM AWARE THAT THERE IS A 'POTENTIAL FOR THE SUB-FRAME TO HAVE RUSTED TO A CONDITION THAT PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD.' *TR

ALSO PURCHASED THE MAXI CARE SERVICE CONTRACT - INTENDED ON KEEPING THIS CAR FOR OVER 100,000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AND BABIED. NOTICED A LITTLE BUBBLED PAINT ABOUT A YEAR AGO - NOW MY REPAIR SHOP SUGGESTED THAT I TRY TO GET RID OF IT BEFORE IT GETS ANY WORSE. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE INSIDE OR OUT. LOOKS BRAND NEW EXCEPT FOR THE RUST DESCRIBED ABOVE .CONSIDERING WHAT I HAVE READ ONLINE I WOULD BE AFRAID TO EVEN SELL THIS VEHICLE TO ANOTHER PERSON IN FEAR OF A FATAL ACCIDENT. TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. DEALER SAID THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THAT THE ENGINE SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED. AFTER AN INTERNET SEARCH FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT APPARENTLY THE PART WAS RECALLED IN CANADA. WHEN I SPOKE WITH CHRYSLER, THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY SUPPORT, AND THAT HAD I "REPORTED THE PROBLEM WHEN IT STARTED" THEY WOULD HAVE REPAIRED IT UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD THE CAR REGULARLY SERVICED AT THE DEALER. AS A CONSUMER I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THE ENGINE SUBFRAME IS CORRODED. HOWEVER, A DEALER WHO IS MAINTAINING THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO SO. IN ANY EVENT, THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, I AM EXPECTED TO PAY A SIGNIFICANT SUM, AND THIS PROBLEM IS PERVASIVE. THE DEALER TOLD ME A SIMILAR CAR CAME THIS PAST WEEK WITH AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM. *TR
SUB-FRAME (ENGINE CRADLE) CORRODED AND ROTTED, ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION METAL SUPPORT STRUCTURES ARE SEVERELY WEAKENED BY RUST THROUGH SUB BODY FRAMING. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAS ISSUED A VERY LIMITED RECALL WHICH EXCLUDES MANY OF THE CARS DIRECTLY AFFECTED IN THIS MODEL/YEAR. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN# WAS EXCLUDED. THE BASIS AND RATIONALE FOR THE EXCLUSION WERE CAPRICIOUS AND ARBITRARY, (IE.) PRODUCTION DATE.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH HAVING BAD MODULES AND NEEDED A NEW FUEL TANK.
