MY ABS LIGHT COMES ON CONSTANTLY WHETHER I'M PRESSING THE GAS OR APPLYING THE BRAKES. WHEN I'M DRIVING IN TOWN AND TRY TO STOP, THE BRAKES GET REAL SPONGY. THEY START SHAKING AND GRINDING AND I'M NOT ABLE TO STOP. I'VE HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO AVOID ACCIDENTS. IT HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY. THE CAR HAS UNDER 100,000 MILES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A UTILITY POLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE PASSENGER WAS INJURED THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION BUT NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF ITS OWN AND FROM TIME TO TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND YOU CAN HEAR THE ABS SYSTEM DOING SOMETHING, BUT IT BARELY STOPS THE CAR IN TIME. CONSUMER REQUESTS REIMBURSEMENT FOR A FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED PRIOR TO THE REPLACEMENT, SHE WAS NOT INFORMED OR NOTIFIED OF A RECALL, UNTIL A GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED THE RECALL. ALSO, IN FEBRUARY 2013, THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $800 AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $500.00.

PARKING BRAKE LINING BECAME COMPLETELY UNBONDED FROM PARKING BRAKE SHOE. WE STOPPED DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT COULD BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. SAFETY IMPLICATIONS UNKNOWN. THE MECHANIC WHO REPAIRED THE PROBLEM SAID HE HAD SEEN A SIMILAR CASE WHERE THE ABS SENSOR WAS DAMAGED/DISABLED. *TR

ABS WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR OVER A YEAR. IT COMES ON WITHIN 3 MINUTES OF DRIVING, WHICH DISENGAGES MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. MECHANIC ADVISED I GET MY ABS SENSORS REPLACED, BUT IT'S BOTH VERY EXPENSIVE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN AGAIN IN NO TIME SINCE THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE WITH PACIFICAS. ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO MY CAR WOULD NOT STOP COMPLETELY WHEN BRAKING. I WOULD LET OFF BRAKES AND REAPPLY & IT STILL DID NOT STOP PROMPTLY. ABS LIGHT CAME ON & ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO CHRYSLER REPAIR CENTER IN DELRAY BEACH FLORIDA. THEY SAID MY NVL PUMP & ABS SENSOR NEEDED REPLACED. THEY ALSO SAID IF I DO NOT REPLACE THE NVL PUMP MY CAR WILL BEGIN TO STALL. THE CAR BEGAN STALLING ABOUT 3-4 WEEKS LATER. IT HAPPENED ABOUT 4-6 TIMES AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHEN THE CAR WAS AT IDOL. I HAD THE PUMP REPLACED BY ANOTHER MECHANIC A FEW WEEKS LATER. THE CAR KEPT STALLING AFTER THE PART WAS REPLACED. THEN THE CAR STARTED COMPLETELY LOCK UP & TURN OFF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. I HAVE NO POWER, NO STEERING...NOTHING. I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVEN'T BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT YET! I TOOK IT BACK IN TO 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS FOR AN INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC. ALL THREE MECHANICS SAY NOW I HAVE O2 SENSORS & MOUNTS THAT ARE BAD. THEY ALL SAY THAT EVERYTHING ELSE IS FINE.THEY ALL 3 SAY THE MOUNTS & O2 SENSORS DOESN'T EXPLAIN WHY THE CAR STALLS & LOCKS UP/TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING. MY LAST MECHANIC RAN A RECALL SEARCH FOR MY CAR & FOUND A RECALL FOR MY MAKE & MODEL THAT COMPLETELY EXPLAINS MY PROBLEM. HOWEVER WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER BACK IN THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY THEY SAID MY VIN # DOES NOT QUALIFY?!?!? I CALLED CHRYSLER HOME OFFICE TO SEE IF THERE WAS SOME KIND OF ERROR AS TO WHY MY CAR IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL & THEY HAVEN'T CALLED BACK. HOW CAN CHRYSLER NOT HONOR THIS DEFECT IN MY CAR WHEN IT HONORS IT IN OTHERS. IT IS DANGEROUS. I HAVE 2 CHILDREN THAT I DRIVE AROUND. I NEED MY CAR TO BE SAFE. I HAVE BEEN GETTING AN ABS LIGHT ON MY 2006 PACIFICA. WHEN IT IS ON THE BRAKES SHAKE AND GRAB. WHEN THE ABS LIGHT IS OFF THEY ARE FINE. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND DOZENS OF OTHERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR ABS FORT PACIFICAS. MANY ARE HAVING SPEED SENSORS REPLACED WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM OTHERS ARE BEING TOLD THAT THEY NEED BRAKES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS. I THINK CHRYSLER IS IGNORING THE PROBLEM AND THAT BRAKES THAT ARE INTERMITTENT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. *TR

UPDATED 08/03/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE ABS LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF ALL THE TIME. SOMETIMES, IT STAYED ON FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE WOULD LOSE BRAKING ABILITY AND IT FELT AS THOUGHT HE BRAKES WERE SHAKING, SLIPPING AND GRINDING. MY INITIAL DATE THAT THIS STARTED HAPPENING WAS ABOUT A YEAR AGO. ALTHOUGH AS OF THE END OF 2011 THE BRAKE FAILURE BEGAN TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY. I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WHICH HAS ABOUT 100,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF ALL THE TIME. ON THE EVENING OF MONDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2010, WE DROPPED OUR CAR OFF AT A LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THE PURPOSE FOR THIS DROP OFF WAS TO DETERMINE WHY THE ABS LIGHT WAS ON, AND WOULD NOT GO OFF. THE NEXT MORNING WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM A SERVICE TECHNICIAN EXPLAINING THAT OUR COMPUTER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THAT THEY HAD DISCOVERED AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM WITH THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS. THE TECHNICIAN WENT ON TO EXPLAIN THAT THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS HAD COMPLETELY MELTED, AND HE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY 'THE CAR DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE." AFTER AN "INVESTIGATION," CHRYSLER'S LEGAL DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT THE ISSUE WAS NOT A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY REASON FOR THE FIRE, BUT ONLY OFFERED THAT IT EXTINGUISHED ITSELF. WE CONTACTED OUR INSURANCE COMPANY, AND THEY RULED IT A FIRE, AND REPAIRED THE WIRING HARNESS. WE WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THE ABS LIGHT MALFUNCTION. *TR
MY ABS LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON IN MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. I DRIVE MY CAR EVERY DAY TO TAKE MY CHILDREN TO DAYCARE AND THEN TO WORK. I HAVE SEARCHED ON LINE AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF OWNERS FOR THE 2006 PACIFICA STATING THE SAME PROBLEMS, AND ANY TIME THEY FIX A SENSOR WHICH IS WHAT THE READER CODE IS COMING UP, THE SAME THING HAPPENS AND SAYS IT'S THE SENSOR AGAIN. IT REALLY CONCERNS ME THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE YET. WHAT DOES IT TAKE? SOMEONE TO DIE BEFORE THIS VEHICLE IS RECALLED? EVERY DAY I HAVE TO WONDER IF MY CHILDREN AND I WILL BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE FAILURE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT. MILEAGE: AROUND 60,000 THE QUESTION I HAVE IS IF CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE WHY CAN'T THEY EXTEND WARRANTY ON SUCH PARTS THAT ARE RELATED TO SAFETY?
