Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)BRAKES LOCKED UP ON A CITY STREET WHEN TRYING TO STOP AT A STOP LIGHT. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE WET AND CAUSE VECHICLE TO CRASH. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I CRASHED AS A RESULT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER SEBRING. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT TOOK A GREATER DISTANCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE STOPPED ABRUPTLY. AS A RESULT, THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DT: CONSUMER OWNED 2005 TOURING CHRYSLER MINI VAN. SHE TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR AN 18000 MILE ROUTINE SERVICE, VEHICLE HAD 17000 MILES ON IT. DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DEALER TOLD CONSUMER THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE REPAIR WAS DONE ON JULY 19, 2005. CONSUMER GOT THE IMPRESSION THAT EVEN THE DEALER DID NOT WAN TO DO ANYTHING FOR IT, THAT THE BRAKE WEAR WAS NOT NORMAL, AND SINCE THIS VAN WAS HEAVIER THAN OTHER VANS SHE FELT THAT MANUFACTURER MAY NOT HAVE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. MAYBE THE BRAKES SHOULD BE HEAVIER DUTY. *AK
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
