MY 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WILL NOT SHIFT WHEN DRIVING THE RPMS GO UP TO 4000 AND THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT SHIFT TO NEXT GEAR I CAN NOT DRIVE IT ON THE FREEWAY IT WILL ONLY LET YOU DRIVE ABOUT 40 MPH BECAUSE THE RPMS ARE TO HIGH AND I( AM AFRAID OF DAMAGING THE MOTOR DRIVING WITH SUCH HIGH RPMS TRANSMISSION IS AN A604 4SPEED THE SAME AS THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA WHICH HAS AN ACTIVE RECALL BECAUSE OF THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT I AM HAVING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT CHANGE INTO DIFFERENT GEARS. THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND DROVE ROUGHLY WHILE IN MOTION. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS OPERABLE IF DRIVEN AT 35 MPH OR LESS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY CAME APART WHERE THE FRONT AND REAR PIECES ARE ADHERED TOGETHER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH ON A HOT DAY, THE ADHESIVE GLUE MELTED AND CAUSED THE REAR TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY LENS TO DETACH FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PERSON IN THE VEHICLE BEHIND HIM COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I OWN A 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH I NOTICED IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR THAT THE PLASTIC COVERING ON THE REAR OUTSIDE LIGHTS WAS ALMOST ALL THE WAY OFF. I STOPPED THE CAR AND SAW THAT IT HAD COME UNGLUED AND WAS ABOUT TO FALL OFF SO I TOOK IT OFF TO AVOID CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY. *TR
RACK AND PINION STEERING ON MY 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LX NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR A COST OF $1,000 PER THE DEALER. MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 59,000 MILES. LEAKS POWER STEERING FLUID, MAKES NOISES WHEN TURNING, AND FEELS LIKE STEERING WILL LOCK UP. NUMEROUS SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED. *TR
SPORADICALLY, MY REAR HATCH WILL FAIL TO OPEN. IT TRIES TO RELEASE, BUT SOMETHING CATCHES, AND IT CLOSES. OTHER TIMES IT FUNCTIONS PROPERLY. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER I USE THE REMOTE BUTTON ON THE KEY OR THE BUTTON IN THE VAN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, AND WHEN IT DOES, I JUST HAVE TO OPEN THE HATCH MANUALLY. IT WILL ALWAYS CLOSE WITH THE KEY OR BUTTON. *TR
WE HAD TO GET OUR STEERING RACK REPLACED (UNDER WARRANTY) AT ABOUT 16,000 MILES BECAUSE IT WAS GROANING AND HARD TO STEER. ABOUT 16 MONTHS AFTER THAT AT ABOUT 42,000 MILES THE VAN WAS IN FOR SOMETHING ELSE AND THE DEALER TOLD ME THE STEERING RACK WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $1100. THEY DID NOT EVEN WARRANTY THE REPLACEMENT PART ITSELF WHICH DID NOT LAST. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR WAS CLOSED AND WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. WHEN THE DOOR CAUGHT FIRE AND STARTED BLOWING SPARKS ON TO MY 2 YEAR OLD STRAPPED IN A CAR SEAT. BY THE TIME I STOPPED THE VEHICLE, GOT OUT, AND TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR IT WOULD NOT OPEN. I HAD TO RUN TO THE OTHER SIDE AND OPEN THE OTHER SLIDING DOOR. I THEN, HAD TO REACH ACROSS MY OTHER DAUGHTER TO UNBUCKLE MY BABY GIRL. IT WAS TAKEN APART AND REVEALED THAT THE ELECTRIC DOOR LATCHING SYSTEM CAUGHT FIRE AND FROZE THE DOOR SHUT. THIS WAS REVEALED TO CHRYSLER AND THEY DENIED THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. *TR
BUMPING SOUND COMING FROM FRONT RIGHT WHEEL AREA WHEN DRIVING OVER UNEVEN ROADS. *TR
2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY...AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE STALLS. THIS HAPPENS USUALLY WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS NEARING EMPTY THAN AFTER THE TANK IS FILLED. WHEN THE FUEL TANK IS HALF FULL AND THE VEHICLE IS REFUELED EITHER NOTHING HAPPENS OR THERE IS SLIGHT STUTTER IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
CONTINUED STEERING RACK FAILURE ON 2004 TOWN AND COUNTRY. REFUSAL BY CHRYSLER TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFICIENCY AND FAILURE OF THIS DESIGN. MAY PARENTS BOUGHT THE SAME VEHICLE AT THE SAME TIME AND THEY ARE ON THEIR 3RD STEERING RACK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BECAUSE OF A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE NOISE WAS FROM THE WEAR AND TEAR OF THE SUSPENSION. THE DEFECT WAS REPLACED WITH A FRONT SUSPENSION BUSHING SWAY ELIMINATOR MODULE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AVAILABLE. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,000. UPDATED 3/5/08 *CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 20045 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LX. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE MAKES LOUD NOISES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON NOVEMBER 15, 2007 AND THEY REPLACED THE SWAY BAR BUSHING; HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT PERMANENTLY CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER ON FEB 12, 2009. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD RECUR TWO OR THREE TIMES IN THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $475. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,836 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,132. I HAVE A VAN CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2007, I CRASHED IT INTO ANOTHER CAR, MY MOTHER WAS A FRONT PASSENGER AND MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS ON THE BACK SEAT IN HER CAR SEAT. AFTER THE CRASH, I MADE SURE EVERYONE WAS OK, WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS NOT ON THE SEAT, SHE WAS ON THE FLOOR OF THE VAN WITH HER CAR SEAT ON TOP OF HER, MEANING THAT THE SEAT BELT DID NOT WORK, IT GOT LOOSE. THANKS GOD SHE WAS FINE, JUST VERY SCARED. ON THE OTHER HAND, MY MOTHER LOOKED OK, JUST A BIG BUMP ON THE BACK OF HER HEAD, SHE SAID, BUT WHEN SHE TRIED TO GET OUT OF THE CAR, HER KNEES WERE ALL BRUISED AND SOAR. TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY, WE REALIZED THAT HER SEATBELT WAS BROKEN. THE RELEASE RED BOTTOM WAS FOUND ON THE FLOOR, THEREFORE WE ALSO REALIZED THAT WITH THE IMPACT OF THE CRASH AND THE SEAT BELT BROKEN, SHE WENT FURTHER THAN SHE SHOULD HAVE AND BUMPED HER KNEES WITH THE DASH BOARD. THE VAN IS BEING COMPLETELY REPAIRED AND I HAVE THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELTS. *JB
MY 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY IS HAVING STEERING PROBLEMS. THE DEALER PUT A NEW RACK AND PINION IN IT JULY 5, 2007. WE BOUGHT IT ON JULY 6, 2007. IT HAD 42,729 MILES ON IT. BY JULY 30, 2007 TWO BOLTS FELL OUT OF SAID UNIT, AND THE OTHER BOLT WAS HALFWAY OUT ALSO. THE DEALER REPLACED THE MISSING ONES WITH USED BOLTS FROM ANOTHER VAN, AND DID AN ALIGNMENT. I PICKED IT UP LATE EVENING ON JULY 31, 2007. BY MID-DAY AUGUST 3, 2007 THE BOLTS WERE SO LOOSE THAT MY MECHANIC COULD SPIN THEM WITH HIS FINGERS. HE TIGHTENED THEM, AND IT TOOK TWO FULL TURNS WITH A TORQUE WRENCH. NOW IT'S AUGUST 6, 2007 AND MY STEERING IS LOOSE AGAIN. NOBODY CAN EXPLAIN WHY THE BOLTS KEEP COMING LOOSE. *TR
THE 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH, ESPECIALLY IN IDLE. THE ODOMETER READING WAS 37,500, THE VEHICLE WAS 3.5 YEARS. OLD, AND IT HAS A 3.8 LITER ENGINE. A CHRYSLER DEALER RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND DETERMINED THAT NEW SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES WERE NEEDED. ALSO, SOME COMPUTER CODES MAY NEED TO BE RESET. COST WOULD BE $350. I BOUGHT THE PARTS AND INSTALLED THEM MYSELF. I REPLACED MANY SPARK PLUGS IN THE OLD DAYS AND THESE WERE THE WORST LOOKING PLUGS I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE TIPS OF THE ELECTRODES WERE SEVERELY ROUNDED OFF ON ALL 6 PLUGS. I OWNED CHRYSLER/PLYMOUTH MINIVANS SINCE 1984 AND ONLY REMEMBER REPLACING SPARK PLUGS ONCE, AND PROBABLY @ A HIGH MILEAGE. CHAMPION WARRANTS THEIR PLATINUM PLUGS FOR 5 YEARS. CHRYSLER'S MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE SAYS TO REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES @ "100,000 MILES". SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG WITH THIS ENGINE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THERE ARE FOUR RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE'S YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL #'S 03E045000 (EQUIPMENT), 03E053000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), 04V386000 (STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS), AND 06E022000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). NO FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED AT THIS TIME. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 74,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS INAPPLICABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO STALL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER REGARDING THE STALLING AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE ALWAYS OCCURRED WHEN GASOLINE WAS ADDED TO THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STALLING WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH HIS YEAR MAKE A MODEL VEHICLE WHICH COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A CRASH TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS EVERY TIME WE FILL THE GAS TANK ON OUR 2004 TOWN & COUNTRY WITH GAS IS STALLS AFTER DRIVING BETWEEN 50 AND 150 YARDS. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS IT HAS STALLED IN FRONT OF SEVERAL LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AFTER PULLING OUT OF GAS STATIONS. IT HAS ALSO STALLED IN FRONT OF FAST MOVING ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHEN TURNING LEFT ACROSS ONCOMING LANES. WHEN IT STALLS, THE MOTOR QUITS AND ALL POWER IN STEERING AND BRAKING IS LOST. THE VAN MUST BE PUT INTO PARK IN ORDER TO RESTART, WHICH MEANS COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC. AFTER RESTARTING IT RUNS FINE. WE HAVE HAD APPROXIMATELY 9 OCCASIONS WHERE HIGH SPEED COLLISIONS HAVE BEEN VERY BARELY AVOIDED, USUALLY WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. IT HAS BEEN REPORTED ON AUTOMOTIVE ONLINE FORUMS AND FROM MECHANICS AS A COMMON PROBLEM RESULTING FROM A FAULTY SENSOR IN THE CHRYSLER FUEL TANKS. UNFORTUNATELY CHRYSLER DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THIS FACT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE VEHICLE'S DOORS, INCLUDING THE REAR HATCH, ARE AUTOMATICALLY CLOSING. THE SIDE DOORS CLOSED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE CONTACT IS UNABLE TO STOP THEM WHEN SOMEONE IS ENTERING THE VEHICLE. ON FIVE ATTEMPTS, THE DEALER UNSUCCESSFULLY DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE. ONE MONTH AGO, AFTER ENGAGING THE KEYLESS RELEASE TO OPEN THE REAR HATCH, IT HESITATED, LOWERED, AND REOPENED TO FULL CAPACITY. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE REAR HATCH WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE DEALER NOTIFIED A TECHNICIAN WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CLOSE THE DOOR MANUALLY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE PASSENGER HAD TO REMOVE THE ARM TO CLOSE THE HATCH. DURING A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE THE TIRES AND REPAIR THE HATCH, THE DEALER REPLACED THE ARM WITHOUT REPAIRING IT AND STATED THAT IT WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. ON MAY 14, 2007, THE HATCH WAS STUCK IN THE UP POSITION AND AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND OFF, IT CLOSED. ON MAY 15, 2007, AFTER ENGAGING THE BUTTON TO OPEN THE HATCH, IT FULLY EXTENDED AND CLOSED ON ITS OWN WITHOUT WARNING. THE HATCH HIT HER CHILD IN THE HEAD CAUSING A MINOR INJURY. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY DO NOT ISSUE RECALLS AND ADVISED HER TO CALL NHTSA. THE CONTACT WILL SCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 54,669 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
WE EXPERIENCED A RECURRENCE OF THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING AGAIN. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME WITHIN THE PAST YEAR. THIS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED AND STOPPED WITHIN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE VAN, THE ENGINE TURNS OVER AND STARTS BUT THEN IMMEDIATELY STOPS. IT IS AS IF AN ANTI THEFT SWITCH IS ENGAGED OR THE REMOTE STARTER MECHANISM MALFUNCTIONS AND STOPS THE ENGINE. AFTER LETTING THE VEHICLE SIT FOR AN HOUR, IT WAS ABLE START UP AND REMAIN RUNNING. THE VAN WAS DRIVEN THE NEXT DAY AND A POWERFUL ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL WAS NOTICEABLE FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. A FAINT CLICKING/SQUEAKING NOISE WAS ALSO HEARD IN THE VICINITY OF THE ALTERNATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED INTO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO FOR THE SAME SITUATION, BUT THE VEHICLE STARTED THE NEXT DAY AND SERVICE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE. *TR
I HAVE AN '04 T AND C WHICH I BOUGHT A YEAR AND A HALF AGO...GREAT VEHICLE EXCEPT FOR THE STEERING WHINE...BROUGHT IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAD IT FILLED AND BLED (TO REMOVE SUPPOSED AIR BUBBLES) MORE THAN ONCE...WOULD SEEM TO BE IMPROVED THEN GO BACK TO SAME OLD THING...THE NOISE WOULD START WHEN I STARTED THE CAR IN THE MORNING AND WOULD BE WORSE IN COLD WEATHER...WAS TOLD TO TURN THE WHEEL WHILE I WARMED UP THE CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY..THIS SEEMED TO GET THE GROANING UNDER CONTROL...ONE MORNING I WAS IN A PARTICULARLY BAD MOOD AND TURNED THE WHEEL PRETTY VIOLENTLY AND AS I BACKED OUT I SAW A PUDDLE OF RED STEERING FLUID ON THE GROUND...ALL THE FLUID JUST GUSHED OUT...HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY FOUND ONE OR MORE LOOSE CLAMPS IN THE STEERING SYSTEM HOSES...THE CLAMPS WERE REPLACED AND THE STEERING FLUID FILLED AND NO MORE PROBLEM!!! THAT WAS SEVERAL MONTHS AGO (WINTER TIME) AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT RESURFACED...BUT HAD TO GO THROUGH AN AWFUL LOT TO GET TO THIS POINT...LOOKS LIKE THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM AS WELL. *TR
MY 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LIMITED 3.8L 2WD VEHICLE STALLS AND ENGINE FAILS AFTER FILLING UP GASOLINE TANK. SEVERAL OCCASIONS OCCURRED WHILE VEHICLE WAS MOVING ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT.*LN
THE FRONT BUSHINGS ON MY 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY KEEP FAILING. I HAD THEM REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. AT THAT TIME, THE TECHNICIAN REPORTED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND THAT AN IMPROVED BUSHING WOULD BE USED. SINCE, IT IS AGAIN HAVING PROBLEMS, AND THE DEALER IS SAYING THAT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AGAIN. THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT. IT SEEMS UNREASONABLE THAT THIS PART NEEDS CONTINUED REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT. IS THERE A DANGER INVOLVED? DO I HAVE TO REPLACE IT? WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T REPLACE IT? THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT THIS IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL, OR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. *TR
GROANING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN STEERING, CLUNKING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD. DEALER DIAGNOSED GROANING SOUND AS LEAKING/BAD STEERING RACK AND SAID IT MUST BE REPLACED, WHICH WAS VERY COSTLY. DEALER DIAGNOSED CLUNKING SOUND AS BAD SWAY BAR LINKS AND BUSHINGS, WHICH THEY REPLACED. FILING COMPLAINT BECAUSE THOSE ITEMS SHOULDN'T GO BAD AFTER ONLY 3 YEARS OF NORMAL USE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH ON A CITY STREET, THE PASSENGER SIDE EXTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR AND ATTACHMENTS FRACTURED, AND SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT ALERTED.
1) 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINIVAN WAS THE THIRD CAR IN A SIX CAR CRASH. IT WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT BEHIND OTHER VEHICLES AND IN FRONT OF A RED MERCEDES WHEN A NISSAN SEDAN SLAMMED INTO THE REAR OF THE LINE OF CARS WITHOUT EVER APPLYING ITS BRAKES. 2) A & B. FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY WHEN THE T&C SLAMMED INTO THE CADILLAC IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF IT SENDING THAT CAR INTO THE TWO CARS FURTHER UP THE LINE. C. FOUR OF THE FIVE SEPTAGENARIANS IN THE T&C WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH INJURIES. THE DRIVER'S HEAD SMASHED INTO THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE AND HIS LEFT ARM WAS THROWN VIOLENTLY INTO THE DOOR. MY FATHER, THE DRIVER, SAYS HE WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. HE COULD NOT SEE OUT OF HIS LEFT EYE FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. I FLEW FROM CA TO TX AND DROVE HIS RV TO MY SISTER'S HOME IN VA SO SHE COULD LOOK AFTER MOM AND DAD. THEY AND THEIR RV BUDDIES CUT SHORT THEIR PLANNED TRIP AND ALL THREE RVS RETURNED TO VA THIS WEEK. CHARLIE, ARLENE, AND BETTY ARE RECEIVING MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR THEIR INJURIES. 3) THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THEREFORE, IT WILL BE REPLACED WITH A SAFER VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THE NHTSA SHOWS TWO FOUR STAR AND TWO FIVE STAR RATINGS FOR THIS VEHICLE. *NM

COMPLAINT ABOUT BLIND SPOTS REAR VIEW MIRRORS IN GENERAL - INCLUDING BOTH SIDE MIRRORS AND CENTER MIRROR. I DRIVE A 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VAN. I AM A TALL DRIVER - 6.5 FEET. THE FRONT MIRROR BLINDS MY FORWARD VIEW. ON OCCASION, I HAVE MISSED SEEING A VEHICLE ON A SIDE STREET OR AN ANIMAL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ALSO, THE REAR VIEW MIRRORS CREATE A BLIND SPOT WHICH HAS BEEN KNOWN FOR SOME TIME IN THE INDUSTRY. BOTH OF THESE SITUATIONS CREATE DANGEROUS POSSIBILITIES AND NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. I HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIR ON TWO OCCASIONS DUE TO TURN SIGNALS MALFUNCTIONING, POWER WINDOWS MALFUNCTIONING, AND BACK SLIDING DOORS MALFUNCTIONING. ON THE FIRST OCCASION MALFUNCTIONS COULD NOT BE ENACTED. ON SECOND OCCASION, A SWITCH WAS REPLACED. ON JUNE 28, 2006 VAN WAS HIT IN REAR PUSHED INTO ANOTHER CAR AND THROWN INTO AN 18 WHEELER TRAVELING 60 MILES PER HOUR AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. *JB

THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT THIS PROBLEM APPEARS, AS YOU MAY NOTICED THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED AND MYSELF AND MY FAMILY HAS BEEN PUT IN SEVERED RISK. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE AS FOLLOWS: THE FIRST REPAIR WAS MADE ON MAY 14TH, 2005, BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE, AS REPORTED ON THE ORDER OF REPAIR NUMBER 97273 TO AUTOMOBILES DEL BAJIO. THE SECOND REPAIR WAS MADE ON NOVEMBER THE 1ST, 2005, BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE, AS REPORTED ON THE ORDER OF REPAIR NUMBER 10841 TO FAME QUERETARO. THE THIRD REPAIR WAS MADE ON JUNE 12, 2006, BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE, AS REPORTED ON THE ORDER OF REPAIR NUMBER 15173 TO FAME QUERETARO. THE REPAIR WAS MADE REPLACING THE RIGHT HAND HOSE; IT IS ALWAYS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE. I AM ASKING FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM THEN MAY PUT IN HIGH RISK FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY, I ALSO WANT TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE REPORTS OF THE DEFECT OF THIS PART. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH OR LESS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOLLOWED BY HESITATION OF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND THE DEALER DETERMINED A SPARK PLUG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTERWARDS, THE PROBLEM RETURNED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT OF ALL SPARK PLUGS, SPARK PLUG BOOTS, AND THE IGNITION. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN FOR AN ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WAS A FAULTY EGR VALVE. OTHER PEOPLE TO WHOM THE CONTACT SPOKE TO HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE CHRYSLER 3.3 LITRE ENGINE. THE CONTACT HAS TO PAY $100.00 DEDUCTIBLE EVERY TIME THAT VEHICLE IS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. MY 2004 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WAS FOR A PROBLEM CHRYSLER HAS PUT A BULLETIN OUT ON REGARDING MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP ILLUMINATION WITH DIAGNOSTIC CODES P0300-P0306 (SPARK PLUGS). THE LIGHT HAS COME ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS DURING A 7 MONTH PERIOD. DEALER REPLACED SPARK PLUGS ALL 4 TIMES AND REPROGRAMMED THE TRAN MODULE. THEY ARE GIVING ME THE EXCUSE THAT I AM PROBABLY JUST GETTING DEFECTIVE SPARK PLUGS. I HAVE HAD A COMPUTER IN THE CAR THAT I DROVE WITH AND IT SHOWED NOTHING TO THEM AS THEY TELL ME. THEY SAY CAR ISN'T DOING ANYTHING WHEN THEY DRIVE IT. AFTER 4TH REPAIR I HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK AFTER DRIVING ONLY A FEW DAYS TELLING THEM IT STILL IS NOT FIXED, THEY SAY IT DOESN'T DO IT FOR THEM AND THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ELSE UNLESS THE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. THE CAR BUCKS, SURGES, TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO MIS, CAR HAS BACK FIRED GOING UP HILL, NO POWER GOING UP HILLS OR INCLINES, CAR EVEN LOSES POWER GOING 55 MPH PLUS ON HIGHWAYS, WHEN LIGHT DOES FINALLY COME ON CAR WILL NOT LET YOU GO OVER 10 MILES PER HOUR, FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL BUCKS AND SURGES. THE LIGHT HAS NOT COME ON AGAIN YET FOR THE 5TH TIME BUT IT WILL EVENTUALLY WITH THE SAME CODES FOR THE SPARK PLUGS, AND AGAIN I WILL BRING IT BACK TO HAVE IT NOT FIXED AGAIN , BY THEM CHANGING THE SPARK PLUGS YET AGAIN. I ALSO SAW A BULLETIN ON THIS SITE ABOUT A CREAK, TICK, AND POP SOUND IN STEERING COLUMN WHICH I ASKED DEALER TO CHECK WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT IN LAST VISIT, THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING, AND DID NOTHING ABOUT IT, NOW I SEE OTHER PEOPLE OBVIOUSLY HAVE SAME PROBLEM,, NOT FIXED. I HAVE NO CLUE IF THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND WHAT, IF ANYTHING, COULD HAPPEN . RECURRING BRAKE PROBLEMS VEHICLE HAS 40000 MILES ON IT AND LEFT FRONT BRAKE ROTOR HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES. BRAKE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 6 TIMES. LAST TIME ROTOR WAS REPLACED AT 34000 MILES AND ONCE AGAIN THE ROTOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. DEALERS CAN NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. *JB

FIRST TIME COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM SO THEY TIGHTENED NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE. 2ND TIME NO CODES FOUND, NO PROBLEM FOUND. 3RD TIME DUPLICATED PROBLEM, BUT NO SOLUTION. 4TH TIME CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, SENT BACK WITH A RECORDER TO RECORD CAR OVER THE WEEKEND. 5TH TIME REPLACED POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE. IN 2005 A 2004 CHRYSLER T & C PLATINUM SERIES VAN WAS PURCHASED. IN THE SPRING, WE TRAVELED ACROSS COUNTRY ON A FAMILY VACATION PUTTING OVER 9,000 MILES ON IT AND NEVER EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH IT. SHORTLY AFTER RETURNING HOME, (NY) I HAD MY FIRST FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE WHILE TRYING TO ENTER A STATE HIGHWAY WHERE VEHICLES WERE GOING 70 M.P.H. I HAD JUST REFUELED AND MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR STALLED AND I ROLLED TO SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY.( NO POWER STEERING, NO BRAKES) I TRIED TO RESTART IT SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD "CATCH." SINCE THAT FIRST EPISODE OCCURRED, IT HAS BEEN REPETITIVE TO THIS DATE. 11/11/15 I REPEATEDLY TOOK IT TO MY CHRYSLER DEALER (WHO, BY THE WAY HAS BEEN RATED NO. 1 IN THE COUNTRY) WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. THE FUEL LINE WAS "FLUSHED" SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS FRUITLESS IN ANY RESOLVE OF THE PROBLEM. IT HAS OCCURRED WHEN IN A TRAFFIC CIRCLE, TRAVELING IN TRAFFIC, AND JUST TRYING TO ENTER THE ROAD AFTER STOPPING FOR A STOP SIGN. ALWAYS ONLY AFTER REFUELING.TODAY, IT IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR YET AGAIN ANOTHER TRY AT FIXING THE PROBLEM ALONG WITH A FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. WHILE I UNDERSTAND THIS INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN "CLOSED", I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WOULD WAIT FOR SOMETHING CATASTROPHIC TO HAPPEN BEFORE TAKING ANY ACTION ON THIS COMPLAINT BY SO MANY PEOPLE. AFTER NOT HAVING RESOLVE WITH THE DEALER, I CALLED CHRYSLER AND IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I HAVE THE SERVICEMAN COME ALONG WITH ME WHEN I REFUEL TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR HAVE THE SERVICE MANAGER CALL THEIR ENGINEERING DEPT. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE MADE TO MAKE THIS RIGHT FOR ALL PARTIES AFFECTED BY THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

CHRYSLER TOLD CONTACT TO PUT A 2005 RACK AND PINION IN THE VEHICLE, BUT IT DID NOT FIT. THEY HAD TO GO BACK AND PUT A 2004 BUT THAT STILL DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ONE WEEK LATER, THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP, AND STILL IT DID NOT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE ZONE MANAGER TOLD CONTACT TO TAKE THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. CAR WAS KEPT FOR ONE WEEK AND ALL THEY DID WAS REPLACE RACK AND PINION. HOWEVER, PROBLEM RECURRED. . ONE OF THE DEALERSHIP PLANNED TO ADVISE CONTACT OF THE LEMON LAW. BUT THEY HAVE NOT CONTACTED HIM YET. DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM THAT IF SOMEONE WANTED TO FIX VEHICLE TO TELL HIM TO DO SO BECAUSE THEY HAD ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM TO PUT A SMALLER POWER STEERING PULLEY WHICH WOULD INCREASE THE SPEED OF THE PUMP WHICH WOULD, IN TURN, INCREASE THE PRESSURE OF THE PUMP BECAUSE THE PRESSURE WAS SLOW. *AK *NM

TALKED TO SERVICE MANAGER HE CALLED ME 2 DAYS LATER WAS TOLD THAT CRYSLER HAD A PROBLEM WITH 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY WAS TOLD THAY HAD A FIX . THREE DAY LATER WES TOLD THAY REPLACED THE RACK, HOSES, ADDED A COOLER LINE AND WAS TOLD IT DIDNT FIX PROBLEM.TO BRING IT BACK AND THAY WOULD PUT ON A POWER STEARING PUMP WHEN IT COMES IN .
WHEN DRIVING THE VAN AT ANY SPEED IT WILL JUMP GEARS REV UP AND THEN PUSH OUT TO DRIVE REAL FAST IT GOES FROM DRIVE TO NUTRAL REAL FAST WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 9 TIMES SINCE HAD THE VAN JUST GOT IT IN MARCH.
THE FIRST TIME I COME TO A STOP AFTER FILLING THE VAN WITH FUEL THE ENGINE WILL DIE. IT HAS ALWAYS RESTARTED BUT RUNS ROUGH FOR A FEW SECONDS AFTER RESTARTING. IT IS RELATED TO THE FIRST STOP AFTER REFUELING WHETHER IT IS A BLOCK AWAY FROM THE STATION OR SEVERAL MILES BEFORE I STOP. IT'S DANGEROUS AS THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL.
