I BOUGHT A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY ON JUNE 29 , 2007 WITH 48,000 MILES . I HAD A LOUD NOISE IN THE FRONT END SOUNDING LIKE THE STRUTS WERE BOTTOMING OUT ON ALL BUMPS. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED CHRYSLER REF TO THE PROBLEM, THE DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE STABILIZER BUSHINGS,THE DEALERSHIP ALSO STATED THAT ALOT OF 2005 TOWN & COUNTRY'S HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND TAT THE BUSHINGS WERE REDESIGNED. CHRYSLER REFUSED TO DISCUSS THIS ONLY STATING THAT THEY COULD ONLY DISCUSS MY VEHICLE ONLY. STILL REFUSING TO HELP IN ANY WAY. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN COUNTY LX. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I GOT THE CAR AS ALWAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG THEY SAY, BUT HAD TO REPLACE RACK AND PINION AND NOW I AM BACK TO THE SAME THING AGAIN I FEEL THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL 2005 TOWN COUNTY FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD. I HAVE GONE THROUGH THREE FRONT END ALIGNMENTS A SET OF TIRES AND I GET THE SAME OLD STORY BLAH BLAH, SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE PLEASE HELP ALL OF US ON THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 5-15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE MAKING A U TURN. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE ANOTHER 40-50 MILES WITH NO STALLING. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE DEALER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 30,000. UPDATED02-14-08 *BF THE DEALER STATED REPLACED THE WIPER ASSEMBLY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAS HAD TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION, TIE RODS, WATER PUMP, REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR, PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW MOTOR, AND THE EGR VALVE. CURRENTLY, THE AXLE IS FAILING. THE DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES; HOWEVER, THEY WERE ALL COVERED DUE TO AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,450.
AIR BAG LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED ON MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN N' COUNTRY. I FOUND A SAFETY RECALL ON THE EXACT ISSUE, BUT WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE DID NOT FIT INTO THE RANGE OF THE RECALL. THE SAME PROBLEM LISTED ON THE RECALL IS WHAT HAPPENED. THE AIR BAG FRONT SENSORS AND WIRING CORRODED. THE NHTSA ID# IS 07V192000. MY VEHICLE HAS 50,998 MILES ON IT. *TR
THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ILLUMINATED. I FOUND A SAFETY RECALL ON THE EXACT ISSUE BUT WAS TOLD BY MY DEALER MY VEHICLE DID NOT FIT INTO THE RANGE OF THE RECALL. THE NHTSA ID# OF THE ISSUE IS 07V192000. VEHICLE AT TIME HAD 50,998 MILES ON IT. I HAD TO PAY THE ENTIRE COST OF REPLACEMENT. *TR
RACK & PINION ON 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. A NOISE WHEN TURNING STEERING. WAS TOLD BY DEALER IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 VANS AND WAS NOT BEING COVERED. WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE AROUND $750.00 PLUS TAX TO FIX. IF THERE ARE THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VANS, CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THEM AS A RECALL. WAS TOLD BY ANOTHER MECHANIC TO PUT AN ADDITIVE IN THE POWER STEERING AND IT HAS SLOWED DOWN THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING FLUID BUT KEEP WONDERING HOW SAFE I AM DRIVING IT ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEEDS. *TR
THE TWO LITTLE PLACES TO PRESS TO SOUND THE HORN ARE ABSURD. HOW CAN A PERSON BLOW THE HORN QUICKLY WHICH IS WHEN AN EMERGENCY TAKES PLACE IS REQUIRED. AM I SUPPOSED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL STRAIGHT AND THEN LOOK FOR THE HORN ICONS. LETS PUT BACK THE STANDARD HORN RING OR PUSH BUTTON CENTER ACTIVATED.*CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE TURN SIGNALS FAILED TO OPERATE PROPERLY. SHE COULD NOT REMEMBER THE APPROXIMATE SPEED SHE WAS TRAVELING WHEN THE FAILURE ORIGINALLY OCCURRED. SHE WOULD ENGAGE THE TURN SIGNALS AND THEY EITHER WOULD NOT TURN ON OR THE TURN SIGNAL FOR THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION WOULD TURN ON. THE FAILURE BEGAN AS AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE BUT EVENTUALLY THE TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING PERMANENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHICH RECENTLY LOST ITS CERTIFICATION WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY 11 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE IN THE SWITCH WHICH ENGAGED THE TURN SIGNALS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
VERY LOUD NOISES WHILE STEERING SLOWER RESPONSE TIME STEERING. MAJOR FLUID LOSES OCCURRED THEREAFTER. MECHANIC EXAMINED AND SAID THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM RACK, HE SAID THAT THERE WERE 5,000 ON BACKORDER FOR REPLACEMENT, I AM NOW WAITING ON THE PART FOR REPLACEMENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. IN DECEMBER OF 2007, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING NOISE WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE AT 35 MPH. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY DID NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS. SHE RETURNED TO THE DEALER IN JANUARY OF 2008, BUT THE DEALER STILL COULD NOT FIND ANY FAILURE. MOST RECENTLY, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK WAS LEAKING. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THAT SHE REPLACE THE POWER STEERING GEAR AT THE COST OF APPROXIMATELY $800. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 62,020 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000. UPDATED 06/16/08 *BF
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH AT NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND CONTINUED ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON. EVENTUALLY, THE HEADLIGHTS DID ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THE DEALER COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000. 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY WITH MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. CONSUMER STATES SEAT BELT LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THERE ARE NO SEAT BELTS ON. PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT SAYS OFF WHEN THE WHEEL CHAIR IS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER POSITION. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS MODIFIED TO ACCOMMODATE A WHEELCHAIR. THE STEERING GEAR AND EGR VALVE WERE REPLACED. *JB THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED WITH CHRYSLER MOVING THE FIBERGLASS FUEL TANK BEHIND THE AXLE, INSTEAD OF MOVING IT TO THE FRONT WHERE IT IS LESS VULNERABLE. 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY, TOURING MODEL. VEHICLE HAS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH FRONT END SUSPENSION SYSTEM. FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACED AT 35K. TIRES WERE REPLACED AT 33K BECAUSE OF WEAR ON FRONT TIRES. ROTORS WERE REDONE AT 26K. SWAY BAR LINKS AND BUSHINGS WERE REPLACED AT 35K. ALSO, A CRITICAL BOLT ON REAR SUSPENSION WAS MISSING WHEN VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. *TR
HAVING PURCHASED A NEW CHRYSLER, TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN, IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, I'VE HAD TO MAKE NUMEROUS REPAIRS THAT I'VE NEVER HAD TO MAKE ON PREVIOUSLY OWNED VEHICLES IN THE SAME LIFESPAN OF A VEHICLE. THE QUALITY OF THIS VAN HAS BEEN EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING. *TR
ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER, CAR RUNS ROUGH/STALLS AFTER 3 MONTHS OLD. NEW SPARK PLUG WIRES INSTALLED. POWER WINDOWS STOP WORKING, RELAY REPLACED. BATTERY DIED, ALTERNATOR REPLACED. POWER WINDOWS STOP WORKING, ANOTHER RELAY. LIFT GATE STOPS WORKING, FIXED (ELECTRICAL PROBLEM). A/C FAN DOESN'T WORK, RHEOSTAT REPLACED. CAR RUNS ROUGH, SPARK PLUG WIRES REPLACED. DOOR LOCKS STOP WORKING, STILL NOT, UNKNOWN PROBLEM. *TR
IT STARTED ACTUALLY QUITE SOME TIME AGO. IT SEEMED THAT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I WOULD LOSE MY POWER STEERING. ONCE IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO RUN OFF THE ROAD AND INTO A CEMENT CURB. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO WORK THE WHEEL AROUND AND AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES OF TRYING TO CONTROL THE VAN, THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK. THERE HAS BEEN A NOISE AT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND THEN I NOTICED THE VAN WAS LEAKING SOMETHING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY ALSO SAID THAT THEY ARE REPLACING SO MANY OF THEM THAT THE PART WAS BACKORDERED AND THEY WERE UNSURE WHEN THEY WOULD GET ONE. THAT WAS IN NOV. 2007. IT IS NOW APRIL 2008 AND I AM STILL WAITING. IN FEB OF 2008 I WAS TOLD THEY HAD ONE FOR ME AND I TOOK MY VAN IN AND THEN WAS TOLD THAT IT NEVER ARRIVED AND THAT THEY TOLD THEIR PARTS DEALER THAT THEY NEEDED IT IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS LEAKING ONTO OTHER PARTS AND CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS. IT'S STILL BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE THEN AND NOTHING. THE WHOLE FRONT OF MY VAN FEELS AND SOUNDS LIKE ITS GOING TO FALL OFF AT ANY MOMENT. I HAVE HAD TO REFILL MY POWER STEERING FLUID EVERY 2-3 DAYS SINCE NOV 07 AND IT ISN'T GETTING ANY BETTER. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VAN. THE RIGHT CV JOINT HAD TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS, THE AIR BAG SENSORS WENT BAD AND ONLY AFTER I PAID TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT TO THE TUNE OF $70 WERE THEY RECALLED, THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE REAR HEATING/COOLING TUBES BECAUSE OF COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR NO LONGER WORKS AS WELL AS THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW. DURING A TERRIBLE RAIN STORM, I HAD TO GO THROUGH A LARGE PUDDLE AND THE SPARE TIRE WAS RIPPED FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE BECAUSE IT WAS NEVER SEALED PROPERLY AND THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE. BOTH SETS OF BRAKES HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED, ROTORS REDONE AND THE TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. *TR
POWER STEERING NOISE FOUND TO BE LEAKING/FAULT STEERING RACK. UPON INQUIRE TO DEALER FOR REPAIR/REPLACEMENT FOUND THAT 13,000 WERE ON BACK ORDER!!! MANY SIMILAR PROBLEMS FOUND POSTED. SOME INDIVIDUALS HAVE HAD MULTIPLE REPLACEMENTS. CHRYSLER SHOULD RECALL DUE TO NEGLIGENCE, DANGER TO HUMAN LIFE AND THE SHEER VOLUME OF DEFECTS. *TR
EDGE OF SLIDING DOOR UNDER THE SCUFF PLATE IS RAZOR SHARP CAUSING SEVERE CUT TO DOG RESULTING IN APPROXIMATELY 15 SUTURES. LOCAL DEALERSHIP COMPARED MY VEHICLE TO A 2005 T/C ON THEIR LOT AND FOUND THE IDENTICAL RAZOR SHARP EDGE. THIS PROBLEM CAN HAPPEN TO CHILD, ADULT AND TO DOGS ENTERING VEHICLE. *TR
WE OWN A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY MINIVAN. EARLIER TODAY, THE VEHICLE WAS IN A 65MPH FULL FRONTAL CRASH WITH A LIGHT POLE AT THE SIDE OF A TOLLWAY. FOR REASONS UNKNOWN, BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VAN WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION YARD PENDING INSURANCE CLAIM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. FOR THE FIRST FAILURE AT LESS THAN 10,000 MILES, THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. FOR THE SECOND FAILURE, AT APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES, THE DEALER REPLACED THE ROTORS AT NO CHARGE. CURRENTLY, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VIBRATING AND CLICKING WHENEVER THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,900 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
BRAKES PERIODICALLY SQUEALED. AT 18,000 MILES I HAD THEM CHECKED. THE REAR PADS WERE WORN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT AFTER TURNING THE ROTORS, THERE WOULD NOT BE ENOUGH METAL LEFT ON THE NEXT FUTURE BRAKE JOB TO TURN THEM AGAIN. ALSO, THE BRAKES STARTED PULSING AFTER REAR REPLACEMENT. THEY HAD TO TURN THE FRONT ROTORS TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS SOMETHING RADICALLY WRONG WITH THE BRAKE DESIGN ON THE 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY AS IT IS VERY PREMATURE FOR PADS TO WEAR OUT AT 18,000. TO COMPOUND THIS PROBLEM, IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT I WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE ROTORS ON THE REAR FOR THE NEXT BRAKE JOB. *TR
MY COMPLAINT IS PAINT RELATED. ON THE REAR BUMPER IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT LOCATIONS THE PAINT HAS PEALED OFF THE BUMPER. NO OTHER SPOT HAS PAINT POPPING OFF. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN IF THE AREA IS NOT CLEAN AND PREPARED CORRECTLY. RECEIVED 12/12/07 64200. THE SERVICE WRITER WAS EAGER TO INFORM ME MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY (40,123 MILES, 38 MONTHS OLD). PAINT DOES NOT PEEL OFF IF THE PREPARATION IS DONE CORRECTLY. I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED CHRYSLER WAS QUICK TO DISMISS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. THIS IS NOT A CASE OF SCRATCHES OR DINGS. UPDATED 12/12/07 *TR

THERE IS SOMETHING RADICALLY WRONG WITH THE BRAKE DESIGN ON THE 2005 TOWN AND COUNTRY AS IT IS VERY PREMATURE FOR PADS TO WEAR OUT AT 18,000. TO COMPOUND THIS PROBLEM, IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT I WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE ROTORS ON THE REAR FOR THE NEXT BRAKE JOB. *TR
AIR CONDITIONING FAILS ANYTIME THE TEMPERATURE RISES ABOVE 95. THE POWER ON THE UNIT SHUTS DOWN AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO "FIX" THIS PROBLEM 3 TIMES. IT CONTINUES TO OCCUR. ALSO, THE POWER LOCKS DO NOT WORK. I WAS TOLD THEY HAD TO "RE-BOOT" THE SYSTEM. THIS HAS ALSO OCCURRED 3 TIMES. BRAKES. I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS EVERY 4-6,000 MILES. I AM ON MY 2ND SET OF ROTORS IN 30K MILES. BRAKES NEED REPLACING AGAIN.. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STARTED THE ENGINE, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIFT TO THE APPROPRIATE GEARS WITH A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE SYSTEM. AFTER THE REPAIR, A LOUD NOISE CONTINUED TO BE HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON A SEPARATE OCCASION FOR THE LOUD NOISE; HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT PRESENT AT THE TIME OF SERVICE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOUD NOISE STILL EXISTS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION IN THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE SENSOR BE REPLACED DUE TO THE RISK OF THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING DURING A FRONT END CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,200.
THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I ALMOST HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION WHILE TRYING TO PASS. WHEN PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO PASS, THE VAN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. NOT ONLY CAN I NOT ACCELERATE TO PASS, I CANNOT ACCELERATE TO AVOID AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. APPARENTLY THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING. WHILE THE DEALER HAS REPLACED PARTS IN THE TRANSMISSION IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT CHRYSLER DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. *TR

SOUNDED AS IF SOMETHING WAS CAUGHT AND WAS BEING DRAGGED UNDER THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. DROVE 4 FEET TO MOVE OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANE AND THE GRINDING DID NOT STOP. PULLED OVER, STOPPED, LOOKED UNDER CAR; NOTHING. PUT VEHICLE IN DRIVE, GRINDING SOUND. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THE RIGHT FRONT CV AXLE HAD BROKEN. VEHICLE HAS 52,014 MILES. HAD YOUNG CHILDREN IN CAR WAS DOING UNDER 10 MILES AN HOUR. *TR
I OWN A 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WHICH WAS PURCHASED APRIL OF 2005 DIRECTLY FROM A DEALERSHIP IN EAST HANOVER WITH ONLY 150 MILES. THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS AND ONE MONTH OLD ONLY HAS 23,600 MILES. BY 6,000 MILES I NEEDED BRAKES, PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED. AGAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 5,000 MORE ADDITIONAL MILES I HAD TO HAVE BRAKES , PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED. THAT WAS 3,200 MILES AGO AND NOW AGAIN THE BRAKES, PADS AND ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE OWNED 3 CARS PRIOR TO THIS ONE AND NEVER HAD TO REPLACE BRAKES, PADS NOR ROTORS. I COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE THAT OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ,AND CHRYSLER WAS NOTIFIED YET THEY HAVE NOT DONE ANY RECALLS ON THE BRAKES, PADS OR ROTORS. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED WITH AN AUTOMOBILE AS I AM WITH THIS ONE. *AK

ON 14 JUNE 2007 DURING THE EVENING MY WIFE INFORMED ME OF A SOUND FROM THE VAN WHEN THE A/C WAS ON, SO SHE TURNED IT OFF. ON THE MORNING OF 15 JUNE 2007 I CHECKED THE VAN'S A/C. I TURNED ON THE VAN?S AND THE A/C WAS OFF AND THE VAN WAS WORKING OK. I TURNED ON THE A/C TO IDENTIFY WHAT MY WIFE WAS TALKING ABOUT SHORT TIME LATE A LARGE AMOUNT OF SMOKE WAS ENTERING THE VAN PASSENGER AREA AND COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VAN. I TURNED OFF THE A/C AND VAN RIGHT AWAY. MY VAN AND GARAGE WAS FULL OF SMOKE AND THE SMELL WAS OF ELECTRICAL WIRES AND INSULATION BURYING. CONSEQUENCES PASSABLE IF MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND THIS HAPPEN I CAN ONLY THINK THAT SHE OR OTHER WILL/WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY HURT WITH FIRE IN A MOVING CAR AND THE CABIN FULL OF SMOKE. VAN IS 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY 40,000 MILES. I CALLED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND CHRYSLER IS INVESTIGATING. DEALER IS REPAIRING TODAY. *AK
CLOCKSPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL REPLACED AS IT'S WAS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE POSSIBLE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT.
THE 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WAS PARKED INSIDE THE GARAGE AT MY RESIDENCE WHEN THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE FROM A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ,PROBABLY THE HEATED SEATS. WE WERE IN THE BACK OF THE HOUSE/GARAGE WHEN THE HORN BEGAN TO SOUND AND THE VAN'S PANIC ALARM WENT OFF. WE COULD SEE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EAVES OF THE GARAGE ROOF. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE "MAN DOOR" OF THE GARAGE (THE ELECTRONIC GARAGE DOOR OPENER WOULD NOT FUNCTION) AND OBSERVED HEAVY GRAYISH SMOKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE WITH THE HELP OF A NEIGHBOR AND OUR 13 YEAR OLD SON HE SPRAYED THE VEHICLE WITH WATER FROM 2 GARDEN HOSES. THE WINDOWS OF THE VEHICLE SHATTERED AND THE INTERIOR OF THE VAN WAS GLOWING ORANGE. 911 WAS CALLED AND THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED. ONCE THE AREA WAS SECURED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ASSESSED THE DAMAGE (WHICH WAS CONTAINED TO THE VEHICLE). THEY WERE OF THE OPINION THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT HEATING ELEMENT. THE ONLY THING LEFT OF THE DRIVERS SEAT WAS THE METAL FRAME; THE STEERING COLUMN WAS GONE AND WIRING HARNESSES WERE HANGING DOWN INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FROM THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. THE VAN IS A TOTAL LOSS. OUR INSURANCE ADJUSTER STATED THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND CHRYLER TOWN & COUNTRY HE HAD SEEN IN THIS CONDITION. PROPERTY DAMAGE (OTHER THAN THE VEHICLE) WAS LIMITED TO THE GARAGE INTERIOR THANKS TO MY HUSBAND'S AND NEIGHBOR'S QUICK RESPONSE. WHENEVER WE FILL UP WITH GAS, SHORTLY AFTER PULLING OUT OF THE STATION THE ENGINE STALLS. SOMETIMES SOONER THAN LATER BUT SOMETIMES WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION. IT ALWAYS STARTS BACK UP AND PROBLEM GOES AWAY, BUT WHEN THE STALL HAPPENS IS UNPREDICTABLE. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AS WELL AS MY FAMILIES LIFE. I'VE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS AND MAYBE THERE IS A REPAIR WITH THIS BUT NONE ARE DEFINITE AND VERY EXPENSIVE. PLEASE HELP WITH ANY INFO. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY AND THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLES BRAKE PADS WERE WEARING INTO THE ROTORS AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE FRONT TIRES ARE WORN ON THE OUTSIDE EDGES OF BOTH TIRES. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE TIRES SHOULD HAVE BEEN ALIGNED AFTER 12 MONTHS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR 12 MONTHS AND THE ALIGNMENT WAS NOT PERFORMED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND SHE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF NEW TIRES. THE CONTACT DOESN'T KNOW THE TIRE SIZE AT THIS TIME. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 10,000.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON DASHBOARD. DEALER SAID IT WAS CAUSED BY DRIVER'S SIDE 'SEAT BELT RETRACTOR NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THEY ORDERED THIS, SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY. NOT COVERED BY DEALER. THEN, ON MAY 12, 2007 I SAW ON THE TV MAY 11 2007 REPORT THAT THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL 07V192000 CONCERNING SENSOR/ CONTROL MODULE MANUFACTURER'S REPORT ON MAY 1, 2007. DEALER STILL KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THIS RECALL TO THIS DATE. *AK
IN MARCH/APR 2007 WE NOTICED A WHITE STAIN THAT HAS APPEARED ON THE FLOOR BY THE NAVIGATOR SEAT. WE ASSUMED WE SPILLED SOMETHING AND WE CLEANED IT UP WITH A HOUSEHOLD CARPET CLEANER. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE STAIN HAS APPEARED AGAIN. WE REMOVED THE FLOOR MAT IN THE AREA TO FIND OUT THAT THE STAIN EXTENDED NOW SIGNIFICANTLY. WE CLEANED IT OUT AGAIN AND MONITORED IT. UPON CLOSER MONITORING, WE OBSERVED THAT THE AREA KEPT GETTING WET WHEN THE AC UNIT WAS ON. AFTER REMOVING THE SOGGY CARPETING AND KEEPING THE ENGINE ON WITH THE AC ON DURING A HUMID DAY, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE CONDENSED WATER WAS LEAKING INSIDE THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE CARPET TO MOLD. WE DROVE OUR KIDS AROUND IN A MOLDY CAR FOR 4 MONTHS NOW. WE DID NOT KNOW IT WAS MOLD UNTIL CLOSER INSPECTION. THE YOUNGEST HAD A CONTINUOUS CONGESTION DURING THIS PERIOD THAT WE BLAMED ON THE DAYCARE. UNFORTUNATELY HE WAS THE ONLY ONE GETTING CONTINUOUSLY CONGESTED. ONCE WE NOTICED IT WAS ACTUALLY MOLD, WE PUT A TOWEL OVER THE AREA (WITH THE CARPET REMOVED). EVERY NIGHT WE WOULD LEAVE THE VAN WITH DOORS AND WINDOWS OPEN AND ATTEMPT TO DRY AS BEST AS WE COULD THE AREA. AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC, THEY INFORMED US THAT IT IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR AND THEY ADVISED US TO CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER. WE CONTACTED DAIMLERCHRYSLER (REF 16513172) ABOUT HAVING THE ISSUE FIXED UNDER THE WARRANTY. WE EXCEEDED THE 36,000 WARRANTY MILEAGE BY 1,280 MILES. EVEN THOUGH WE EXPLAINED THAT IT TAKES TIME FOR MOLD TO DEVELOP IN ORDER TO NOTICE THE ISSUE, DAIMLERCHRYSLER REFUSED TO HELP US. WE PLAN ON TAKING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER AND HAVING IT RESOLVED, BUT MEANWHILE WE WOULD LIKE TO LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW OF OUR ISSUE. ALSO, THE VEHICLE HAS ALREADY HAD 2 RECALLS AND ONE MAJOR REPAIR. IN 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP THIS WOULD BE OUR 4TH MAJOR REPAIR FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS ONLY 37280 MILES ON IT.

I PURCHASED A CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY IN 2005. SINCE THEN, I HAVE BEEN IN TO HAVE ELECTRIC COMPONENTS THROUGHOUT THE VAN FIXED ON AVERAGE, 1-2 PER MONTH. THE ELECTRIC SYSTEM IS BREAKING DOWN PIECE BY PIECE. STARTING WITH THE ELECTRIC LOCKS (WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH AND THEY WERE FIXED TWICE), THE AC (A RECALL), THE ENTIRE HEAT ASSEMBLY IN THE REAR (I WAS IN MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THIS ONE), THE PASSENGER AIR BAG HARNESS, THE OIL SENSOR, AND NOW THE DRIVERS' SIDE AIRBAG IS NEEDING TO BE REPAIRED. ALL OF THESE ISSUES WERE ELECTRIC. I HAVE BEEN IN UNDER THEIR WARRANTY TO HAVE ALL OF THESE ISSUES FIXED, BUT I CONTINUE TO HAVE ELECTRIC ISSUES. MY FEAR IS THAT, CONSIDERING THAT THE VEHICLE HAS EXTENSIVE ELECTRIC CONTROLS, THAT SOMETHING MAJOR IS ABOUT TO BREAK. WITH ONLY A THIRTY SIX THOUSAND MILE WARRANTY, WHICH IS ABOUT UP, AND STILL PROBLEMS, THEY (THE CHRYSLER CORP.) SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. *JB
WHILE ACCELERATING UNDER "CRUISE CONTROL", THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES UNUSABLE AND THE CAR CANNOT BE SLOWED DOWN OR STOPPED UNLESS YOU TURN OFF THE CONTROL. THIS IS SOMETHING YOU DO NOT HAVE TIME TO DO IN A "PANIC" SITUATION. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SINCE DAY ONE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE INCIDENTS, AND HAS NO INFORMATION ON WHAT MAY CAUSE IT LET ALONE HOW TO FIX IT. I HAVE HAD PASSENGERS SEE ME USE BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN AN ATTEMPT TO SLOW DOWN. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING WITHIN SPEED LIMITS AND UNDER GOOD DRIVING CONDITIONS.
