TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN MAKING A TURN AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE HESITATED. THE VEHICLE WAS AFTER BEING SHUT OFF AND THE CONTACT PUMPED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
POWER STEERING LEAK AND FAILURE. BEGAN WITH WHINNING NOISE AT AROUND 40,000. UPON INSPECTION, POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY FAILED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF SERVICE, NEW STEERING ASSEMBLY BEGAN WHINNING AND LEAKING AGAIN. THE STEERING ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME. CONCERNED ABOUT POWER STEERING FAILURE AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND POSSIBLE SAFETY RISK FOR THE FUTURE. APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AT LOW MILEAGE FOR THIS MODEL AND HAVE REQUESTED A RECALL FROM CHRYSLER.
SEATBELTS DO NOT LOCK. YOU CAN PULL ON THEM AND PULL ON THEM AND THEY KEEP RETRACTING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER WITH A STORM COMING IN. I HAD TO REPLACE MY POWER STEERING RACKING SYSTEM, WHICH COAST ME OVER $500. IT IS A ISSUE THAT SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO MANY OF THESE VEHICLES FROM THIS YEAR. I ALSO HAVE ISSUES WITH MY POWER STEERING GOING OUT EVERY TIME IS RAINS OR SNOWS. THIS WAS HAPPENING WELL BEFORE I HAD TO GET THE RACKING SYSTEM REPAIRED AND IS STILL AN ISSUE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *TR
AT 49,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. KNOWING I PROBABLY COULDN'T AFFORD THE REPAIRS AT OUR DEALERSHIP, I DECIDED TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE MYSELF. THE CHECK ENGINE CODE READ P0480, A CODE NOTING A PROBLEM WITH THE COOLING FAN SYSTEM. AFTER RESEARCHING THE CODE ONLINE, I REALIZED THAT I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT TURNS OUT THE TOWN AND COUNTRY, IN WINTER WEATHER, TENDS TO HAVE COOLING FANS FREEZE UP. AS A RESULT, THE COOLING FAN RELAY WILL BLOW OUT. AS I WAITED FOR MY NEW RELAY TO ARRIVE IN THE MAIL ($47 ONLINE, $90 AT YOUR DEALERSHIP) THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED OFF. THINKING THAT MAYBE THE VEHICLE HAD MADE A CLEAN TRIP, I CHECKED THE COMPUTER AGAIN. P0480 WAS STILL STORED WITHIN. THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED MY NEW RELAY VIA MAIL, AND WENT TO INSTALL THE PART. UPON CALLING BROOKDALE LUTHER'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO ACQUIRE THE LOCATION OF THE RELAY ON MY VEHICLE, THE SERVICE EMPLOYEE, THOUGH VERY HELPFUL, NOTED THAT CHRYSLER NEW OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT I WOULD NEED AN UPDATE TO MY VEHICLES COMPUTER ($120). IN RESPONSE TO MY QUESTION WHY, I WAS TOLD THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO KNOW WHEN THE FAN MOTOR WAS JAMMED TO TURN THE MOTOR OFF BEFORE BLOWING OUT THE RELAY. SO I COULD KEEP BUYING RELAYS, OR PAY THE $120. MY QUESTION IS THIS. IF CHRYSLER KNOWS OF A PROBLEM THAT COULD CAUSE A VEHICLE TO EVENTUALLY OVERHEAT, WHICH IN SOME CASES COULD CAUSE A FIRE, WHY WOULDN'T THEY ISSUE A RECALL. *TR
RACK & PINION WHINING, POWER STEERING HARDER TO STEER. AT ABOUT 50K MI STARTED TO HEAR A WHINING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA, TOOK IT IN TO CHRYSLER AND THEY ADVISED IT WAS COMING FROM THE RACK AND PINION, BUT IT DOES NOT AFFECT DRIVE OF VEHICLE AND REFUSED TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY, SO WE DID NOT DO ANYTHING WITH IT; OVER TIME MY STEERING GOT HARDER AND HARDER, AND WHINING GOT LOUDER; TOOK IT BACK IN 30K MI LATER AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED, AND THEY ADVISED THAT THE POWER STEERING IS GOING OUT DUE TO AN ISSUE WITH THE RACK AND PINION AND THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH POWER STEERING PUMP. AT CARCOMPLAINTS.COM THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER INDIVIDUALS WITH SAME ISSUE AT APPROX THE SAME MILES WHEN PROBLEM STARTED OCCURRING. THIS TO ME DOES SEEM TO BE A FACTORY DEFECT AND DEALER IS REFUSING TO HELP OUT WITH ANY OF THE REPAIRS. AND THE FACT THAT IT AFFECTS STEERING RAISES A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN IN MY MIND. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE; WHEN HE WENT TO RELEASE IT, THE FOOT PEDAL HIT HIM HARD ON THE HAND. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 57,000.
POWER STEERING-WHINING NOISE. NEED REPLACING AT A COST OF 900.00. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRYING TO MOVE FROM A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. HE MENTIONED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS STUCK AND IN ORDER TO RELEASE IT, HE HAD TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY A DIRTY AIR FILTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED TO GO BACK TO A THE DEALER TO GET A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
PURCHASED MY VAN IN 2008, USED WITH 40000 MILES ON IT. IN WINTER OF 2009 I NOTICED A LOUD WHINING NOISE WHEN TURNING BUT ONCE ENGINE WARMED UP WOULD STOP. HAD POWER STEERING FLUID CHECK AND WAS LOW. FILLED STOPPED NOISE. SAME IN 2010, 2011, AND NOW 2012. HAVE TO CONSTANTLY FILL FLUID. IT HAS TO BE LEAKING SOMEWHERE. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THIS IS NOT A CHEAP FIX. AND MORE IMPORTANTLY IF SOMEONE'S POWER STEERING GOES OUT GOING DOWN A HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE... VERY VERY DANGEROUS. THIS IS A PART DEFECT AND CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT BE PAYING FOR THE FIX. CHRYSLER SHOULD. WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS, WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR A RECALL? *TR
06 TOWN AND COUNTRY SAME PROBLEM WITH BRAKES! BACK BRAKES SEIZE UP TAKE TO DEALER, THEY TRIED TO GET DRUM OFF FOR ALMOST 3 HOURS PUT WHEEL BACK ON SENT US ON WAY. BRAKES PULSE WHEN APPLIED...DIDN'T DO THAT BEFORE....REPLACED BRAKE DRUMS, AND THE BROKEN BRAKE CYLINDER... STILL THROBS REPLACED ALL AGAIN....GUESS WHAT STILL THROBS...THEY DIDN'T THROB BEFORE I TOOK IT TO DEALER....SEE OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAME ISSUE WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE INSTEAD OF EXCUSES? *TR
POWER STEERING RACK SEALS FAILED, FLUID LEAKING FROM POWER STEERING SYSTEM. FAILURE WAS PROCEEDED BY LONG-TERM LOW-PITCHED WHINING NOISE COMING FROM POWER STEERING SYSTEM. FLUID DRAINED FROM SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER VEHICLE. DEALER RECOMMENDS REPLACING POWER STEERING RACK, OUT OF WARRANTY, COST $900.00. *KB
WHILE MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE PULLING INTO THE WATABURGER (FAST FOOD JOINT) OFF MARBAUCH ROAD AT ABOUT TEN MILES PER HOUR, THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM OF THE STEERING MECHANISM BASICALLY EXPLODED. THEY HAD ALMOST NO CONTROL OVER THE DIRECTION THE VEHICLE WAS GOING. IT HAS FAILED BUT THE ONCE, AND NEARLY CAUSED MY WIFE TO HIT PARKED AUTOMOBILES. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO IPAC ON LOOP 410 WHERE THE ENTIRE R&P UNIT WAS REPLACED WITH, I HOPE, NEW PARTS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY TOURING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER MAP LIGHT STOPPED WORKING. WHEN HE REMOVED THE BULB, THE BULB WAS FINE BUT THE HOUSING WAS BURNT BLACK AND DISTORTED. HE INSPECTED THE OTHER MAP LIGHT AND THE OTHER HOUSING WAS ALSO BURNT. HE WAS UNABLE TO GET THE HOLDER OUT OF THE HOLDING DUE TO HEAT WARPAGE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY A MECHANIC. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,250. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,100.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 35 MPH WHEN BOTH TURN SIGNALS ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE CONTACT WOULD ENGAGE EITHER TURN SIGNAL, THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS JUST STOPPED WORKING THEN DOOR ALL TOGETHER STOPPED WORKING AND KNOW WILL NOT CLOSE EVEN MANUALLY. *TR
TURN SIGNAL DOESN'T WORK, OR ELSE IT WILL BLINK THE OPPOSITE SIDE THAN WHAT IS TURNED ON. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO PUT AIR IN OR LET AIR OUT OF ALL FOUR TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE STEMS CONNECTED TO THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WERE MADE OF ALUMINUM AND THAT THEY CORRODE QUICKLY. THE TIRE STEMS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT REGULAR TIRE STEMS COULD NOT BE PLACED ON THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED SINCE THE SYSTEM COULD NOT DETECT IT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC THAT STATED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE AIR BAGS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V008000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE). THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,259. UPDATED 01/03/11

NORMAL CITY DRIVING, 35 MPH, ALL DASH FUNCTION LIGHTS CAME ON INCLUDING, CHECK ENGINE, AIRBAGS, OIL ETC. ALL MECHANICAL GAUGES (MPH ETC.) STOPPED WORKING. GEAR SELECTION LIGHTS (PRD12) ALL LIT. TRIP COMPUTER STOPPED RECEIVING INFORMATION. INTERIOR FAN STOPPED WORKING. HEADLIGHTS CAME ON. TOTAL ELECTRONIC DISRUPTION BUT ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN. STOPPED, RESTARTED, ALL DASH LIGHTS AGAIN CAME BACK ON - CLIMATE CONTROL FAN, RADIO, INTERIOR LIGHTS, DOOR LOCKS WORKED, HEADLIGHTS CAME BACK ON (SWITCH TURNED OFF). COLD START NEXT MORNING - SAME PROBLEMS. REPLACED BATTERY, SAME PROBLEMS. CAN'T DETERMINE OPERATING STATUS WITHOUT GAUGE READOUTS, SPEED, TEMP ETC. NOT WORKING PROPERLY. DOOR LOCKS NOT WORKING AT TIMES. ELECTRONIC REAR HATCH AND SIDE SLIDING DOOR NOT WORKING AT TIMES. AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VAN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DURING A RAIN STORM I WENT THROUGH A PUDDLE. I LOST POWER STEERING FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE!!! IT IS SCARY AND I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR YET THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT THE DOOR WAS OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD SPORADICALLY ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD DO THE SAME AND AND THE GAUGES WIOULD FLUCTUATE RIGOROUSLY. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, BUT WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TAIL LIGHT WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,674 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,683.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AIR BAGS FRONTAL SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE (10V008000) WAS RELATED TO HER VEHICLE. THE RECALL AFFECTS VEHICLES IN COLD CLIMATE STATES AND AT THE TIME THE CONTACT LIVED IN ARIZONA. THE CONTACT RECENTLY RELOCATED TO INDIANA AND WOULD LIKE THE RECALL REPAIRED ON HER VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REMEDY COULD NOT BE PERFORMED BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG COULD DEPLOYED DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER IN THE STATE AND FEARS THAT IT COULD CAUSE AN INJURY. THE CONTACT WANTED THE MANUFACTURER TO PERFORM THE REMEDY REPAIR UNDER THE RECALL BEFORE THE DEFECT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH MY A/C UNIT HOWEVER, WHETHER THIS ISSUE HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH WHAT HAPPENED TONIGHT OR NOT, I DON'T KNOW. I HAD GONE TO TURN MY 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY OFF WHILE IT WAS IN PARK & IT JUST STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS! I QUICKLY REACHED FOR THE GEAR SHIFT TO MAKE SURE IT WAS IN PARK BUT IT ALREADY WAS! I THEN WENT TO STEP ON THE BRAKE & IT STILL WOULDN'T STOP! I HAVE TO BELIEVE THIS WAS NOTHING LESS THAN A MAJOR MALFUNCTION OF SOME SORT! THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED ME FROM ROLLING BACKWARDS WAS WHEN MY VAN CRASHED INTO MY FATHER-IN-LAWS TRUCK PARKED SEVERAL FEET BEHIND ME. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE SERIOUSLY HURT, EVEN KILLED SOMEONE HAD THEY BEEN IN THE WAY OF MY VAN ROLLING BACKWARDS! MY 7 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER WAS IN MY ARMS AS THIS OCCURRED. I HAD SIMPLY REACHED ACROSS FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF WHEN ALL OF THIS HAPPENED. I MANAGED TO JUMP ONE LEG ACROSS TO THE DRIVERS SIDE TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE JUST TO FIND OUT IT WASN'T GOING TO STOP THE VAN FROM ROLLING BACKWARDS ANYWAYS! *TR
BECAUSE I AM DISABLED I BOUGHT A USED 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY LWB ON AUGUST 2, 2010. ON THE WAY HOME THE STEERING FAILED. BECAUSE THIS FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, I TOOK IT TO TWO DEALERS FOR ESTIMATES AND WOUND UP HAVING THE RACK AND PINION AND LOOSE TIE RODS REPLACED ON AUGUST 9, 2010. *TR
VEHICLE IS DRIVING FINE ON HIGHWAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, THEN AIRBAG LIGHT, THEN SEATBELT LIGHT. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE ON AND ALL DIALS (SPEEDOMETER, OIL GAUGE, TEMP GAUGE, RPM GAUGE) ARE ALL AT ZERO WHILE VEHICLE IS DRIVING AT ABOUT 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY. ALSO, PERIODICALLY THE CAR WILL START AND IMMEDIATELY TURN OFF MULTIPLE TIMES. AFTER WAITING A DAY, IT WILL START UP FINE AND THEN THE NEXT TIME, WILL START THEN STOP. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND MOST RECENTLY THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR 2 WEEKS WITH NO LUCK FINDING ANY ISSUES. WE JUST KEEP GETTING CHARGED FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT WITHOUT FINDING ANYTHING. *TR
ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. DRIVING ON VACATION IN HEAVY TRAFFIC (DC AREA) SIGNALS QUICK WORKING. THE LEFT SIGNAL QUIT AND THEN WHEN I TURNED ON RIGHT THE LEFT CAME ON. EVENTUALLY ALL SIGNALS FAILED. (JULY 16, 2010) IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN OCCASIONALLY. AUG 8 THE SLIDING DOOR LOCK ON DRIVER SIDE WILL NOT WORK EXCEPT MANUALLY. NOTHING REPAIRED YET. CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. NOTED OTHERS HAVING SAME ISSUES. *TR

MINIVANS (3.8 L ENGINE) AS WELL, BASED ON MESSAGES IN A CHRYSLER MINIVAN E-MAIL LIST. COMMENTS INDICATE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WHICH REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL TANK. MY VAN DID THIS FOUR OR FIVE TIMES IN THE YEAR AFTER MY FIRST INSTANCE. IT WAS THEN SOLD (FOR UNRELATED REASONS.) ONCE, I TALKED WITH THE GAS STATION ATTENDANT FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE LEAVING THE STATION, AND HAD TROUBLE STARTING THE ENGINE. IT CAME TO BE MY BELIEF THAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE AVOIDED OR MINIMIZED BY STARTING THE ENGINE AND DRIVING AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AFTER REPLACING THE FUEL CAP, BELIEVING THAT VAPORS FROM EVAPORATING FUEL WOULD OVERLOAD THE VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM IF THE CAR WERE ALLOWED TO SIT. *TR
HEADLIGHTS HAVE FAILED TO TURN ON MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS. IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AT SWITCHING THEM ON, TO MAKE THE LIGHTS WORK. VAN WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THE PROBLEM COULD NEVER BE REPLICATED FOR THEM. NOW THE HEADLIGHTS NOT ONLY FAIL TO TURN ON MOST OF THE TIME, WITHOUT SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, BUT HAVE STARTED TURNING OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVEN WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT. THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS TONIGHT, WHEN THEY FIRST WOULDN'T TURN ON, THEN ONCE ON, REPEATEDLY TURNED ON AND OFF, ALSO DIMMING AND GROWING BRIGHTER. *TR
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IN MY 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY TOURING VAN IS CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED. IT FIRST BECAME ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING IN A HEAVY RAINSTORM EARLIER THIS YEAR AND IT WOULD THEN GO OFF AND ON INTERMITTENTLY DURING OPERATION. THE AIRBAG LIGHT NOW STAYS ON CONTINUALLY WHENEVER I RUN THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE TO CLEARLY BE DUE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES CONTAINED WITHIN CHRYSLER'S "SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN J38" AND THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID #10V008000/NHTSA ACTION #RQ09003. MY VEHICLE WAS ALSO BUILT WITHIN THE TIME FRAME DESCRIBED WITHIN THIS CAMPAIGN. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER, THEY INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT A PART OF THIS CAMPAIGN WITH NO FURTHER EXPLANATION. I DO NOT SEE HOW THIS CAN BE AND I DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY ISSUE WHERE CHRYSLER CLEARLY ADMITS THAT IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH ITS FRONT AIRBAG SENSORS ON THE MAKE AND MODEL FOR THIS 2006 YEAR. WE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OUR MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WIPER HIGH BEAMS. WE NOTICED THIS A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO WHEN WE TURN THE TURNING SIGNAL ON TO GO RIGHT IT WAS SAYING WE WHERE TRYING TO TURN LEFT . THIS HAPPENED ON A BUSY INTERSECTION AND WE ALMOST GOT HIT. NOW ITS BEEN DOING IT MORE AND MORE.WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE MINI VAN SHE WAS TURNING LEFT ON A BUSY STREET. WE BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2006 T & C AND HAVE MAINTAINED IT LIKE NEW INSIDE AND OUT - NOT ABUSED. STILL LOOKS BRAND NEW. AT 34,000 MILES WE NEED TO REPLACE RACK AND PINION! 2006 T&C VAN BOUGHT NEW 21,400 MILES. WINNING SOUND DUE TO DEFECTIVE STEERING PUMP. DEALER SAYS PUMP IS FULL OF FLUID AND NO LEAKS; WANTS $600 TO REPLACE PUMP. PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DOESN'T GO UP AND DOWN. NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO EITHER FAILURE. CONSTANT PROBLEM. I HAVE YET TO COME UP WITH THE $1000 THAT DEALER WANTS TO FIX PROBLEM. I OWN A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. I NOTICED A WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I TOOK IT IN TO CHRYSLER DEALER YESTERDAY AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR. THIS VAN ONLY HAS 49,000 MILES ON IT. AND TODAY I CAME TO KNOW THAT THIS REPAIR WAS NOT EVEN COVERED ON THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THAT MAKES NO SENSE TO ME. 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VAN . WHEN IT IS RAINY OR DAMP OUTSIDE(FOGGY) THE VAN IS DIFFICULT TO START AND KEEP RUNNING AFTER THE WEATHER CLEARS UP AND DRIES OUT THE VAN IS O.K. APPROXIMATE 40,000 MILES AND PROBLEM FREE UP TO THIS POINT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR YET, THE TURN SIGNAL WOULD NOT FUNCTION. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHEN ENGAGING EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT TURN SIGNAL SELECTOR, THE OPPOSITE SIGNAL WOULD ACTIVATE AND NOT THE SELECTED ONE. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT WHEN DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND DIAGNOSED TWICE. THE ACCELERATOR STICKS, AND EXCESSIVE FORCE IS SOMETIMES NEEDED TO ACCELERATE. THIS OCCURRED THE OTHER DAY AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO JUMP DUE TO RAPID ACCELERATION. THIS DEFECT COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS DUE TO DRIVERS BEING UNPREPARED FOR THE SUDDEN JUMP OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP TO HAVE DEFECTIVE PARTS REPLACED AND THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A RECALL WAS OPEN ON THE VEHICLE: RECALL 10V008000 (AIR BAGS: FRONTAL: SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER ONLY SUPPLIED THE DEALERSHIPS WITH ONE AIR BAG SENSOR EVERY FOURTEEN DAYS. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 33,000.

I HAVE EXPERIENCED INCONSISTENT PERFORMANCE OF TURN SIGNALS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS. UPON ACTIVATING THE TURN SIGNAL TO INDICATE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN THE TURN SIGNAL WILL AT TIMES ACTIVATE FOR THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OR NOT ACTIVATE AT ALL. IT WILL ALSO ACTIVATE INTERMITTENTLY - IT WILL ACTIVATE PROPERLY THEN SUDDENLY TURN OFF OR SWITCH DIRECTIONS AND THEN SWITCH BACK TO THE PROPER DIRECTION. I HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS - THEY WILL SUDDENLY TURN OFF AND THEN WITH OUT ANY CHANGE IN CONTROLS RESUME WIPING. I HAVE NOT BEEN IN A SITUATION WHERE THIS HAS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BUT I COULD IMAGINE SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES. *TR
