I HIT A BUMP AND MY WIND SHIELD WIPER CUT ON AND WOULD NOT CUT OFF EVEN WHEN I TURNED THE VAN OFF THE WINDSHIELD WIPER KEPT RUNNING I HAD TO REMOVE THE FUSS. WHEN I PUT THE FUSS BACK IN THE WIPER ARE NOT WORKING AT ALL NOW. *TR
WOKE UP THIS MORNING AND BACK WINDSHIELD WAS BLOWN OUT. LARGE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE WAS SPIDER WEB AND ALL FOUR CORNERS WERE CRACKED OUT. FILED A POLICE REPORT AND SAID IS WAS NOT VANDALISM, BUT THE WINDOW BLEW OUT FROM PRESSURE OR FAULTY GLASS. LOOKING ONLINE IT APPEARS THIS IS VERY COMMON FOR THIS VEHICLE. SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY BIG SAFETY HAZARD. I WONDER WHY IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED. *JB

ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A SHATTERED REAR WINDOW AND INJURY TO CONSUMER. *SMD THE CONSUMER WAS INJURED, WHEN HE BRACED HIS HAND AGAINST THE REAR WINDOW AND THE GLASS MADE A BANGING SOUND AND SHATTERED, WHICH RESULTED IN THE CONSUMER NEEDING SURGERY TO HIS RIGHT HAND.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILED. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER WAS REPLACED AT LEAST THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06V067000 (VISIBILITY: WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER: MOTOR) BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RECALLED AND PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THEY OFFERED NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN MY MINI VAN WHEN THE RIGHT SIDE REAR PANEL WINDOW EXPLODED. SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT. THE WINDOW WAS GONE. I PULLED OVER OUT SHEAR FEAR AND A TRUCK WITH TWO MEN FOLLOWING BEHIND ME WITNESSED THE EXPLOSION AND PULLED OVER AS WELL TO MAKE SURE I WAS OK. THEY REMARKED THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT. THIS WAS IN 2007 WITH APPROXIMATELY 20,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. I WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND HAD WINDOW REPLACED. WELL IT HAPPENED AGAIN YESTERDAY 5/20/2011. CLOSE TO 4 YEARS LATER WITH ABOUT 79,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I WAS IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, MY DAD BEHIND ME AND MY CHILD IN THE FAR BACK SEAT. THE SAME WINDOW EXPLODED, AGAIN SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT. THE WINDOW EXPLODED AND MY CHILD SEATED IN THE FAR BACK BUT LUCKILY SEATED BY THE LEFT SIDE REAR PANEL COVERED HER HEAD AND FACE FROM THE EXPLOSION. THANK GOODNESS SHE WAS NOT NEXT TO THE WINDOW THAT EXPLODED. IN BOTH CASES WHEN THAT SAME WINDOW EXPLODED THERE WAS NO TYPE OF WEATHER CONDITIONS HAPPENING. JUST QUIET CALM DAY. THE DEALERSHIP IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT SINCE THEY HAVE NO OTHER RECORD OF THIS OCCURRING WITH OTHER MINI VANS. THE DEALERSHIP BASICALLY IS SAYING JUST TO REPLACE THE WINDOW ONCE AGAIN. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THIS RESOLUTION FOR I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING TERRIBLY WRONG AND IT IS NOT SAFE. I WORRY ABOUT OTHER FAMILIES AND THEIR TOWN AND COUNTRY MINI VANS ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS WHERE MOST CHILDREN SIT. I DO NOT TRUST THAT WINDOW NOW. *TR

ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED TO THE MIDDLE PASSENGERS SIDE WINDOW. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE AN EXPLANATION FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT WAS 30,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HEARD THE WINDOW CRACKING BEFORE IT SHATTERED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 29,500.

THE WINDSHIELD WAS NOT PROPERLY PRIMED BETWEEN THE GLASS URETHANE TO SEAL AND SECURE THE WINDSHIELD TO THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC COULD PUSH THE WINDSHIELD AND THE GLASS WOULD RAISE OUT OF THE FRAME. THE CONTACT HAD NO IDEA THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM, AND THE REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD. THE WINDOW SHOP WAS HOLDING THE WINDSHIELD AS EVIDENCE. *AK UPDATED 03/30/07. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE SUN ROOF GLASS BLEW OUT, HITTING THE VEHICLE AND CAUSING SOME BODY DAMAGE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SUN ROOF GLASS AND METAL FRAME WERE REPLACED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH IN THE RAIN AT NIGHT, THERE WAS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE NOTICED COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR RESULTING IN WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILURE. THE NEXT DAY THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. UPON INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR, WHICH REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED.
