Driving the van and it shuts have no power! It has happened several times
I HAVE CHANGED MY RADIATOR FAN AND THE RELAY SWITCH TWICE NOW. MY MECHANIC IS NOW SAYING THAT IT MUST BE A COMPUTER ISSUE BUT WHEN A DIAGNOSTIC IS RUN, NOTHING COMES BACK. IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE SLOWLY CLIMBS AND THE ENGINE RUNS HOT. THE RADIATOR FAN KICKS IN AND OUT, CYCLING FAST SHORT CYCLES.
MOTOR SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING AT LOW SPEEDS UP TO 40 MPH. WITH ENGINE SHUT OFF VERY HARD TO STEER OR APPLY BRAKES. PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL OR PARK AND IT WILL START BACK UP. WHEN MOTOR SHUTS OFF WITH NO WARNING MAKING FOR A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.CAR SHUTS DOWN ON CITY STREETS AND ALSO ON THE HIGHWAY. SEEMS TO HAPPEN AS THE WEATHER COOLS DOWN. ONLY LIGHT THAT APPEARS ON DASH IS THE TRACTION CONTROL WHEN THE MOTOR SHUTS DOWN. HAVE NOW QUIT USING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF DANGEROUS CONDITION IT CREATES
MY VAN STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT AND WOULD NOT RESTART. IT WAS NOT MAKING ANY NOISE AT THIS TIME, WHEN IT COOLED DOWN IT RESTARTED AND THE ENGINE WAS KNOCKING. THE CAR THEN SPUTTERED AND STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. NO LIGHTS CAME ON EXCEPT THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. MY VAN HAS 132,000 MILES AND HAS GOTTEN OIL CHANGES ON TIME.
DRIVING ON ROAD MOTOR JUST STOPPED FOR NO REASON , PUT IT IN (N ) TURN KEY STARTS BACK TO RUNNING, PUT BACK IN ( D ) AND GO ON DOWN ROAD .UNTIL THE NEXT TIME.
MY 2009 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY ENGINE HAS STARTED TO TURN OFF RANDOMLY. IT IS HAPPENING ONCE OR TWICE WEEKLY. SO FAR, IT HAS HAPPENED AT SPEEDS 45 MPH AND UNDER. THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AS IF IN IGNITION MODE. I CAN PUT IT IN NEUTRAL OR PARK AND RESTART WITHOUT TROUBLE. THE 2014 RECALL WAS COMPLETED FOR THE KEY FOB AND IGNITION SWITCH. I ONLY HAVE ONE KEY AND PLASTIC CARDS ON THE FOB. THE MECHANICS CAN FIND NO CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS HOT. ALSO, A PINGING SOUND WAS HEARD AND AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ONCE THE VEHICLE WOULD SIGNAL THAT IT WAS OVERHEATING, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WOULD REVERT BACK TO NORMAL AND THE PINGING SOUND AND WARNING INDICATOR CEASED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE SPECIFICS OF THE DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR WERE UNKNOWN; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
SUDDEN ENGINE SHUTOFF: THE ENGINE HAS STARTED RANDOMLY SHUTTING OFF AT LOW SPEED, ABOUT 20 MPH, CAUSING THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES TO BE LOST. THERE ARE NO INDICATOR LIGHTS, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OR ALARMS AT ALL THAT COME ON, EXCEPT FOR THE SKID WARRING LIGHT. THERE ARE NO ENGINE CODES RECORDED. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND CANNOT BE REPRODUCED TO BE REPAIRED. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES NOW, TWICE IN ONE DAY, BUT USUALLY DAYS APART.
ENGINE BURNING UNGODLY AMOUNTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. NO LEAKS, NO SMOKE, WHERE IS IT ALL GOING??
VAN WILL STALE WHEN DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED. DEALER COULD NOT FIND A CODE. THIS HAS HAPPEN THREE TIMES IN THE LAST SIX MONTH.
WHILE DRIVING USUALLY AT LOW SPEEDS (20 MPH OR LESS) THE CAR SHUTS OFF, THE STEERING AND BRAKES LOCK WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN THE MOST WHEN I AM COASTING AROUND A CURVE OR COMING UP TO A STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING OVER 35 MPH. I HAVE HAD BOTH OF THE RECALL REPAIRS DONE BUT THIS IS STILL HAPPENING AT AN INCREASING RATE. IT BEGAN IN JUNE AND WOULD OCCUR ONCE EVERY COUPLE OF WEEKS NOW IT HAPPENS EVERY DAY. *TR
MY ENGINE HAS SHUT DOWN ON ME FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TWICE. FIRST TIME, REPLACED ABS. PAID OVER $2200, STILL SAME PROBLEM. SECOND TIME, NO ERROR CODE BUT CHARGED ME $130 TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE LINKAGE, STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. MY WIFE AND I ARE SCARED TO DRIVE IT. I DID A SEARCH AND FOUND SOMEONE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM (SEE BELOW). CAN YOU OFFER ME (OR THE DEALER) ANY ADVICE ON HOW THIS CAN BE FIXED? ENGINE SHUTS DOWN DURING LOW SPEED OPERATION. WHEN WE FIRST EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM LAST WINTER (2015), CHRYSLER CHANGED THE IGNITION SWITCH; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAS REEMERGED WITH INCREASED FREQUENCY OVER THE LAST 30-60 DAYS. OUR LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER HAS NOT IDENTIFIED THE CAUSE AND CANNOT DETECT A CODE DURING TESTING. IN JANUARY 2016, OUR DEALER PERFORMED A TUNE UP (HOPING TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM) BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AND OCCURS AT A FREQUENCY OF 1 IN 2-6 OPERATIONS. L25/NHTSA 14V-373 RECALL, FOBIK WAS REPLACED BY ZIEGLER IN MICH.--FOLLOWED BY MORE STALLING, SUBSEQUENTLY BY PHILLIPS IN FLORIDA (ALSO REPLACED WYN/FOBC MODULE--9DEC15)--FOLLOWED BY MORE STALLING, SUBSEQUENTLY PHILLIPS UPDATED PCM & TIPM--5FEB16,CAR STALLED NEXT DAY AND THEN AGAIN THE DAY AFTER. STALLING USUALLY OCCURS WITHIN A MILE AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE. CAN THEN TURN OFF THE IGNITION KEY AND RESTART THE ENGINE. USUALLY THE ENGINE THEN RUNS WITHOUT STALLING. REGARDING "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?" STALLING HAS OCCURRED MOST RECENTLY SEVERAL TIMES IN DECEMBER, 2015 AND SEVERAL TIMES IN JANUARY AND FEBRUARY, 2016. I WONDER IF THE PROBLEM MIGHT NOT BE THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE MODULE DETENTS, BUT POSSIBLY THE FUEL SHUT-OFF FLOAT WHICH IS A PROBLEM WITH MY 2005 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY--JUST A THOUGHT THAT MAY BE IRRELEVANT TO THE PROBLEM WITH MY 2009 T & C.

IN ADDITION, I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS OF SIMILAR EVENTS WITH THE TOWN & COUNTRY WITH MOSTLY UNFAVORABLE OUTCOMES BECAUSE CHRYSLER CANNOT DETECT A MALFUNCTION CODE DURING TEST. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY 2009 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY IT HAS A 3.8 L V6 ENGINE AND A 6-SPEED AUTOMATIC. JUST RECENTLY IT JUST STOP AS I WAS DRIVING. I HAD JUST WENT THRU A GREEN LIGHT AND JUST AS I GOT UP TO ABOUT 30MPH THE ENGINE JUST STOP THE ONLY LIGHT THAT CAME ON WAS THE (ESC) LIGHT GOES ON, AND THEN POWER STEERING FAILS BREAKS DO NOT RESPOND. THE DEALER CHECKED IT THE NEXT DAY THERE WERE NO CODS SET. EXCEPT A REAR AC MIX DOOR HAD A PROBLEM AND A ABS CODE. BACK IN MAY I HAD A PROBLEM STARTING IT ACTED AS IF I HAD A DEAD BATTER, THE BATTER AND STARTER TESTED OKAY THEN IN JUNE THERE WAS A R03 SAFETY RECALL FOR THE WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE WHICH WAS REPLACED. THERE ARE ABOUT 37,000 MILES ON THE CAR.
I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE ON THE WIRELESS IGNITION NODE MODULE ON MY VEHICLE WHICH SAID I SHOULD CONTACT MY DEALER "RIGHT AWAY" TO SCHEDULE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT. I HAD ASKED ABOUT THIS THE LAST TIME I WAS THERE ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS IN STOCK YET. LAST NIGHT, MY ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY STREET, WHICH I ASSUME WAS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECTIVE PART. THANKFULLY I WASN'T GOING VERY FAST, BUT IT DEFINITELY SCARED ME AND COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY, GOING AT A FASTER SPEED OR HAD ANOTHER VEHICLE CLOSE BEHIND ME. I JUST CALLED MY DEALER TO GET AN APPOINTMENT ASAP TO GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY STILL DON'T HAVE THE PART AND WON'T UNTIL PROBABLY MID-SEPTEMBER. I THINK IT'S UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE TO WAIT THAT LONG TO FIX A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY WHEN I'VE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM.

I RECEIVED L25/NHTSA 14V-373 RECALL LAST SEPT AND HAVE NOT AS OF TODAY RECEIVED A 2ND NOTICE OF RECALL. I HAD ANOTHER EPISODE OF MY CAR IGNITION GOING INTO THE OFF POSITION WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT TO REPORT. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE ON THE PART OF CHRYSLER. PLEASE GET THE REPLACEMENT PARTS MADE!!! I HAVE HAD A TOTAL OF 3 EPISODES WITH THIS HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST ONE WAS IN SEPT 14 WHILE DRIVING ON I-80 AT 75 MPH. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT GETTING HIT. THE SECOND TIME I LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH IN CITY TRAFFIC A FEW MONTHS AGO. I WAS ABLE TO TURN A CORNER BEFORE GETTING HIT BY OTHER TRAFFIC. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO GET BUSY ON MAKING THESE REPLACEMENT PARTS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. I CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP THIS AFTERNOON AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN UPDATED RECALL EITHER. *TR
HAVE NOT RECEIVED A FOLLOW-UP NOTICE ON THE RECALL OF THE IGNITION FOBIK NOT FULLY SEATING WHICH COULD CAUSE THE FOBIK TO MOVE TO ACCESSORY MODE FROM THE ON MODE. I HAVE CONTACTED MY CHRYSLER DEALER AND ALSO CALLED THE RECALL ASSISTANCE CENTER (1-800-853-1403) SEVERAL TIMES AND KEEP GETTING THE MESSAGE THAT THE PART NEEDED FOR REPAIR/CORRECTION IS NOT AVAILABLE. THIS HAS GONE ON SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR 2015, WHEN CAN I EXPECT THIS TO BE RESOLVED?
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR THE VEHICLE ENGINE SHUT OFF RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKING. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VAN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR RESTARTED AND THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ON 6 MORE OCCASION SINCE THIS INCIDENT. THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL ON THE VEHICLE HOWEVER CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE THE PART AVAILABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CHRYSLER DEALER HAS SEEN THE CAR AND DETERMINED THAT THE RECALL IS THE ISSUE AFFECTING THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND CHRYSLER REFUSES TO OFFER ANY OTHER ALTERNATIVE THAN TO TELL THE CUSTOMER TO DRIVE THE CAR EVEN THOUGH INJURY OR DEATH VIA AN ACCIDENT IS A SIGNIFICANT CONCERN. *TR
