THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 T&C VAN AT NIGHT. DEALER DETERMINED THE TIPM MODULE TO BE DEFECTIVE. THERE ARE OVER 300 OF THESE MODULES ON BACK ORDER IN THE USA. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM OF HEADLIGHT FAILURE WHILE DRIVING THE T&C VAN SINCE ABOUT 2006. THE DEALER COULD NOT PROVIDE ME A DATE THE REPLACEMENT MODULE WOULD BE AVAILABLE, BUT I HAD TO PAY $663.89 UP FRONT FOR THEM TO ORDER IT. THE HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT WORK AT ALL NOW WITH THIS DEFECTIVE MODULE. I NOW HAVE A DAY TIME, CLEAR DAY ONLY VAN SINCE MY STATE REQUIRED HEADLIGHTS WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY TERRAIN. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V139000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION). THE REPAIRS WERE MADE IN JANUARY 2012. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,500. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000.
MY HUSBAND TOOK MY 2010 CHRYLSER TOWN & COUNTRY VAN TO THE DEALER FOR THE IGNITION RECALL. WHEN HE ARRIVED HOME HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT WHEN HE LEFT THE DEALER HE HAD NO ELECTRIC IN THE VEHICLE. HE RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT HE HAD TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO TURN THE IGNITION TOO FAR TO THE LEFT OR THIS WOULD HAPPEN. THIS WAS SUPPOSE TO CORRECT A PROBLEM NOT CREATE A NEW ONE. I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT NHTSA WOULD HAVE REVIEWED THE FIX OF THE IGNITION ISSUE AND INSURED THAT IT DID NOT CREATE YET ANOTHER PROBLEM. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM TO RETURN MY CAR TO THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT SINCE I FELT THE REPAIR WAS MUCH WORSE THEN THE RISK THAT RESULTED IN THE RECALL. WHEN WILL NHTSA TAKE THESE ISSUES SERIOUSLY ENOUGH TO ENSURE THAT THE SUPPOSEDLY CORRECTION OF AN ISSUE DOES NOT CAUSE A GREATER CONCERN? I HAD NO LIGHTS, NO RADIO, NO HANDSFREE PHONE CONNECTION ONCE THE "RECALL PARTS" WERE INSTALLED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR AND NOTICED HEAVY SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR CONTROL PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH WIRES WERE DISABLED AND PERMANENTLY REMOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE WIRE HARNESS AND WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,750.
THE CARGO DOOR OF THE CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY RENTED FROM ALAMO AT KE-AHOLE AIRPORT ON JAN. 18, 2012 IS ELECTRIC AND DOES NOT HAVE A WARNING DEVICE OR STOP SENSOR WHEN BEING OPERATED (UNCERTAIN OF THE MODEL YEAR- 2010 OR 2011) . MY WIFE DID NOT REALIZE THE CARGO DOOR WAS CLOSING AS SHE WAS WEARING A HAT AND WALKING BY IT. THE DOOR CAME DOWN ON THE CENTER OF HER HEAD CAUSING SEVERE PAIN. AS I AM A PHYSICIAN I EXAMINED HER AND MADE THE APPROPRIATE DECISION. WE RETURNED THE CAR TO ALAMO RENTAL AND I SPOKE TO ADDIS, THE MANAGER, WHO PROMISED TO REPORT THE ACCIDENT TO HIS COMPANY. FORTUNATELY, AS OF TODAY MY WIFE IS IMPROVED BUT THE POSSIBILITY OF SUBDURAL HEMATOMA OVER THE NEXT 30 DAYS IS STILL A POSSIBILITY AND SHE WILL HAVE TO BE OBSERVED FOR ANY DEVELOPING SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS. CHRYSLER IS NEGLIGENT IN THIS MATTER AND SHOULD INSTALL THE APPROPRIATE SAFETY DEVICES ON ALL SUCH VEHICLES. *TR

WHILE THE FRONT BRAKE DISK RECALL REPAIR WAS BEING PERFORMED THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE REAR BRAKE DISKS ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THEY WERE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE REAR BRAKES WERE NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR CRUNCHING NOISE WHILE BRAKING WHICH WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING & THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PULSATING DURING BRAKING. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE FRONT & SAID THAT THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 19,600 MILES AND SUPPOSEDLY NOT COVERED UNDER ANY OF THE WARRANTIES THAT WE HAVE AND WE HAVE THEM ALL. THIS DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT AT ALL. I'VE NEVER HAD A CAR WHICH NEEDED ROTORS TO BE REPLACE WITHIN THE FIRST 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. THIS SEEMS LIKE A QUALITY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY DOWN-SHIFTED INTO A LOWER GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FIVE TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE, BUT A FAILURE CODE WAS NOT DETECTED. IN ADDITION, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500. UPDATED 03/05/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE ABRUPT DOWN SHIFT OCCURRED WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP OR SLOWING DOWN FOR A STEEP INCLINE. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS, BLOWER MOTOR AND HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT AND THEN CAME BACK ON.
THIS HAD HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE WE BOUGHT THIS FROM THE DEALER. I WOULD BE DRIVING AND HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE VAN , I HAD TO COME TO A STOP AND PUT IT IN PARK AND THEN START IT UP AGAIN.VERY DANGEROUS. MY SECOND COMPLAINT IS A TIRE WENT FLAT LESS THEN A YEAR OF HAVING THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY THE TIRE REPAIR MECHANIC THAT THERE WAS A PLUG AND THESE ARE 2008 TIRES AND 2007 RIMS AND THAT TUBE WHERE THE AIR GOES IN WAS BRASS AND IT SHOULD NOT BE.HE SEEMED TO THINK THEY GAVE US USED TIRE AND RIMS ON OUR VEHICLE. HE SAID HE HAS SEEN THIS WHERE A DEALER PUTS THE NEWER RIMS AND TIRES ON ANOTHER VECHICLE TO SELL IT AND US UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS DID NOT KNOW THEY HAD BEEN REPLACED. *TR
FRONT BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 9,000 MILES. CHRYSLER SENT LETTER STATING THEY WERE COVERING FRONT BRAKES FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD ( NOT EXACTLY SURE HOW LONG). NOW AT 15,500 MILES I NEED FRONT BRAKES DONE AGAIN AND HAD REAR BRAKES DONE AT 15,500 MILES WHICH I HAD TO PAY FOR BECAUSE THEY WERE ONLY COVERING FOR 12,000 MILES. HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL, THEY ARE JUST HELPING THOSE CUSTOMERS WITH ISSUES. HAVING ISSUES DEALING WITH CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR 2010 VAN IN DECEMBER 2011. A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER WE WERE JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND, AT FIRST, WE THOUGHT THE VAN SHUT OFF, BUT IT WAS JUST THE RADIO, A/C, POWER WINDOWS, ETC. THAT STOPPED WORKING. MY HUSBAND JIGGLED THE KEY AND EVERYTHING STARTED BACK UP AGAIN. THROUGHOUT THE EVENT, THE ENGINE CONTINUED RUNNING. THE FUNNY THING IS WE DID NOT BUMP ANYTHING IN THE ROAD. IT JUST SHUT OFF. WE WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALL UNTIL RECENTLY. ANOTHER ISSUE IS WE HAVE ALSO HAD AN ISSUE WITH OUR KEY NOT WORKING BECAUSE WE ARE TOLD THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE WIN MODULE. WE HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN LOCKED OUT OF OUR VEHICLE, BECAUSE WE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE WIN MODULE IN ORDER TO GET A NEW KEY THAT WILL ACTUALLY WORK WITH THE VEHICLE. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS LINKED TO OTHER FAULTY WIN MODULES THAT I HAVE READ ABOUT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH IN COLD WEATHER, THE WINDOW DEFROSTER FAILED TO DEFROST THE TWO-THREE INCH BOTTOM PORTION OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD ABOUT THE FAILURE BUT CONFIRMED THAT THE DEFROSTER WOULD NOT BLOW DIRECTLY WHERE THE ICE WAS BUILDING UP ON THE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,350.
REAR BRAKE PADS WORN AND REAR ROTORS FOUND TO BE OUT OF ROUND.CHRYSLER EXTENDED WARRANTY ON FRONT BRAKES TO 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES. MY FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT 17,843 MILES BY CHRYSLER FOR A $50.00 DOLLER DEDUCTIBLE, BUT WAS TOLD ABOUT REAR BRAKE PROBLEM ALSO. MY QUESTION IS, MOST OF THE BRAKING IS DONE BY THE FRONT BRAKES I THINK THE REAR BRAKES WERE COMPROMISED DUE TO FRONT BRAKE FAILURE. I WAS CHARGED FOR REAR ROTORS TO BE RESURFACED AND PADS REPLACED. I THINK WHEN THIS OCCURS AT THE SAME MILAGE, CHRYSLER SHOULD MAKE GOOD FOR BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKES. *TT
THIS IS A RENTED VEHICLE FROM ADVANTAGE RENT A CAR PHX. MODEL IS 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VAN WITH AZ PLATE [XXX] (I DID NOT GET THE VIN). I WAS DRIVING ON A SURFACE STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 30-35 MPH WHEN THE VAN SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT COMPLETELY DEAD (SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO AND ALL GAUGES WENT DARK), THE RADIO WENT DEAD, AND POWER STEERING AND BRAKING WERE NON-FUNCTIONAL. I DID NOT ATTEMPT TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WHILE MOVING BECAUSE THE SHIFTER POSITIONS ARE UNMARKED AND THE GEAR INDICATOR ALONG WITH THE ENTIRE DASH PANEL WENT DARK. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE ON COASTING POWER INTO A PARKING LOT WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY DUE TO THE LACK OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKING. ONCE I WAS SAFELY STOPPED. I PUT THE GEAR SHIFT BACK INTO PARK, REMOVED THE ELECTRONIC KEY FOB, REINSERTED IT AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE RETURNED BACK TO WORKING ORDER - THE ENGINE STARTED AND THE ALL DASH PANEL CONTROLS RETURNED TO NORMAL OPERATION. I CONSIDER THIS A VERY SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING SAFETY PROBLEM. IF THIS SAME THING HAD HAPPENED TO ME THE PRIOR EVENING WHEN I WAS DRIVING DOWN A STEEP WINDING MOUNTAIN ROAD AT 70 MPH AT NIGHT WITH NO ROAD LIGHTING, THE CONSEQUENCES COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY SINCE I WOULD HAVE LOST ALL VEHICLE LIGHTING, INSTRUMENTATION, AND POWER CONTROLS. BECAUSE OF THE SUDDENNESS OF THE FAILURE, I SUSPECT THIS WAS AN ELECTRONIC FAILURE AND NOT A MECHANICAL FAILURE - AKIN TO YOUR COMPUTER CRASHING. HOWEVER, YOU COMPUTER DOES NOT CRASH WHILE YOU ARE GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT 70 MPH. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ADVANTAGE RENT A CAR AT PHX RENTAL TERMINAL. ENGINE STALLS AT LOWER SPEEDS WHILE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE MODE. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE THAN 10 TIMES IN 3 WEEKS. I CONTACTED DEALER & MANUFACTURER BUT THERE IS NO RECALL HISTORY WITH IT AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO ANY SERVICE EVEN THOUGH IT'S UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL THEY PROVE IT OR SOME KIND OF DIAGNOSTIC IN ENGINE. I HAVE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK MODE AND RESTART THE ENGINE THIS MAY BE AN ISSUE WHEN YOU ARE IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENT TO HAPPEN. *TR
ON 3 OCCASIONS, WHEN I TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM MY 2010 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY, THE CAR CONTINUES TO RUN AS IF THE KEY WAS STILL IN THE CAR. IT TAKES OVER AN HOUR OF FIDDLING WITH REINSERTING THE KEY TO GET IT TO ACTUALLY TURN OFF. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE I CANNOT PARK AND LEAVE MY CAR WHILE IT IS STILL RUNNING WITHOUT A KEY EVEN IN THE IGNITION. SOMEONE COULD GET INSIDE AND DRIVE AWAY WITHOUT NEEDING A KEY....NOT TO MENTION CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING IN A GARAGE. I HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A CAUSE. *JS

THE REAR WINDSHIELD ARM WAS MADE OF PLASTIC CAUSING THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE ARM TO BE ABLE TO INSTALL NEW BLADES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,330 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,600.
THE BRAKE STARTED TO SHAKE/VIBRATE SEVERELY AT FREE WAY ESP. WHEN GOING DOWN HILLS. HAD TO STOP BRAKING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD SEND A RECALL. I JUST READ MANY OF SIMILAR CONCERNS ON THE SAME MODEL. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,500.

AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE RADIO, HEAT, TURN SIGNALS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS HAD BECOME INOPERABLE. A LOCAL MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRES WERE CUT AND WRAPPED AROUND THE FACE PLATE, CAUSING THE SHORT. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,174 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,800.

IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES AND THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD BE EXTENDED, BUT A REMEDY WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND THE FAILURE WAS UNAVAILABLE.

BECAUSE OF THE RECALL, THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED ON 7/15/11. MY HUSBAND ALWAYS THOUGHT HE HIT THE SWITCH WITH HIS LEG THE FEW TIMES IT HAD STOPPED ON US. THE ROTORS HAVE WORN OUT BEFORE THE BRAKE PADS. THE REASON WE WERE GIVEN WAS DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT. I LIVE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WHERE THE TEMPERATURE IS NOT EXCESSIVE. TODAY NOVEMBER 25 WE TOOK THE VAN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED THE ROTORS AGAIN AND SAID THERE IS STILL A VIBRATION BUT IT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE REAR. EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES APPEARED ON THE SCENE TO DISLODGE THE CONTACTS FINGER. THE CONTACT THEN WENT TO THE HOSPITAL FOR FURTHER EXAMINATION. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD ESCALATE THE CLAIM TO ANOTHER DEPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 22,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE DEALER STATED THE REAR BRAKES FAILED AND THE REAR ROTOR, PADS AND CALIPERS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 22,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
