I PURCHASED 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY. THIS VEHICLE HAS 1 RECALL THAT HAS BEEN AROUND A YEAR AGO AND I HAVE BEEN ON A LIST BUT STILL ISN'T FIXED. DEALER SAID THEY WILL CALL ME. NOW VAN HAS ANOTHER ISSUE AND DEALER SAID 88 OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE SAME ISSUE THAT ISN'T COVERED BY WARRANTY NOR IS IT A RECALL. NOR DOES CHRYSLER HAVE THE PART AVAILABLE. PLUS COST OF PART AND REPAIR IS 1,000.00.. IT IS CALLED THE TIPM SWITCH IN STARTER AND IS COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS THE VEHICLE RUNNING. I BELIEVE THAT WITH 88 OF SAME VEHICLES THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL NOT A CUSTOMER PROBLEM. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID IF I ORDER THE PART THEN THEY WOULD PLACE ME 55TH TO GET PART. THIS VEHICLE HAS CAUGHT FIRE AND FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AFTER I BOUGHT IT. THE DEFROST LIGHT CAME OUT AND BURNED PLASTIC. *TR

WE NOTICED ON 12/28/2014, AND CURRENTLY STILL HAVE, BEADS OF WATER BUILT UP ON THE INSIDE OF ONE OF THE TWO PLASTIC HEADLIGHT LENSES. THIS COULD BE DETRIMENTAL TO BEING SEEN AT NIGHT. COULD THE WATER ALSO CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT WHICH WOULD DISABLE THE HEADLIGHTS? *TR
BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM FAILED. WARNING TRIANGLES IN BOTH OUTSIDE MIRRORS STAY ON CONSTANTLY. MENU SHOWED MESSAGE TO SERVICE BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM. FROM RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET PREMATURE FAILURE OF THIS SYSTEM IS COMMON, AND VERY EXPENSIVE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE IT IS A SAFETY SYSTEM.
I HAVE A 2011 CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY. AS OF TODAY I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE UNDER 3 YEARS AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR 3 TIMES, 3 NEW BATTERIES, THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BREAK BOOSTER WAS REPLACED, MULTIPLE SENSORS, MY ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL NEVER FUNCTIONS CORRECTLY. THIS IS ALL BECAUSE OF THE TIPM THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING AND YOU CANT GET ONE OF THESE BECAUSE THEY ARE BACK ORDERED. AND WHEN YOU CALL THE DEALER SHIP OR CHRYSLER THEY TELL YOU THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO.

WE WERE NOTIFIED IN DEC., 2014 OF A RECALL ON SOME CHRYSLER TOWN AND COUNTRY VEHICLES AS THE REAR QUARTER VENT WINDOW SWITCH MAY OVERHEAT IF EXPOSED TO LIQUID MOISTURE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART SO WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE DISCONNECTED THE SWITCH. HENCE OUR REAR VENTS HAVE NOT BEEN OPERATIONAL FOR ALMOST 6 MONTHS. DEALER CLAIMS THEY ARE NOT RECEIVING THE PARTS TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. WE HAD NO PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THE SWITCH BEING DEACTIVATED. LAST ENCOUNTER WITH THE DEALER WAS APRIL 2015. STILL NO PARTS.
THE L TOURING TOWN COUNTRY, I HAVE A AUTOMATIC FRONT LIGHT SYSTEM THAT WILL LOWER THE HIGH BEAM TO LOW BEAM IF A CAR IS COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. WE HAD A RAIN STORM THAT I DROVE THE CAR THROUGH I NOTICE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND RADIO LOST POWER FOR FEW SECOND. COUPLE DAYS LATER DRIVING AT NIGHT I TURN ON THE AUTOMATIC FRONT LIGHT BEAM SYSTEM AND FEW MINUTES LATER THE FRONT LIGHT, CONTROL PANEL, CAB LIGHT AND RADIO LOST POWER FOR COUPLE MINUTES. THIS DEFECT COULD CAUSE A ACCIDENT IF THE DRIVER IS INEXPERIENCE DRIVER. *TR

THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL FOR CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY VANS FOR 2008, 2009, 2010, AND 2012 FOR WHEEL BEARING ISSUES. WHY IS THERE NONE FOR THE 2011 -- I HAD ONE REPLACED TODAY AND THE TWO REAR ONES ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED. I SEE ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE ARE OTHERS OWNING THE 2011 MODEL THAT ALSO HAVE THIS ISSUE. AT A $448.82 POP FOR ONE, THAT'S IS A LOT TO HANDLE WHEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE 3 OF THEM REPLACED. IF THEY WERE STILL HAVING THE ISSUE IN 2012, WHY IS THE 2011 NOT ON RECALL FOR THIS ALSO? *JS

CAR STALLED WHILE DRIVING, STEERING AND BRAKES LOCKED. WHILE ACCELERATING THE CAR LURCHES. THERE WAS ALSO AN INCIDENT WHERE THE CAR WAS RUNNING BUT THE EVIC DISPLAYED THAT THE ENGINE WAS OFF, THE WIPER BLADES WERE RUNNING AT FULL SPEED BUT THEY WERE IN THE OFF POSITION AS WELL. *TR

2011 CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY WOULD RANDOMLY NOT START. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE AND DID NOTHING. THE ISSUE SEEMED TO GET WORSE. THE CAR CONTINUED TO GIVE MY WIFE AND I INTERMITTENT STARTING ISSUES, BUT NOW IT WOULD RANDOMLY STALL WHILE DRIVING (WITH KIDS IN THE CAR). BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND TRANS PUMP (COVERED UNDER WARRANTY). THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER THE THIRD TIME. THEY REPLACED THE TIPM AND CHARGED US $850. BETTER, BUT NOW MY MINIVAN ENGINE IS LOUD AND IT SOUNDS LIKE I'M DRIVING A VW BUG. *TR

THE PRIMARY ISSUE OCCURS WHENEVER THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, EMERGENCY SITUATION OR JUST REDUCING SPEED, FROM AROUND 70 MPH TO A SLOWER SPEED AROUND 55 MPH. DURING THIS PHASE OF SPEED REDUCTION THE VEHICLE EXHIBITS AN ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLE INSTABILITY WHERE THE FRONT END AND THE STEERING WHEEL MUST BE HELD WITH TWO HANDS IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLES DIRECTION. THIS DEFENSIVE ACT IS VERY TIRING. PRIOR TO PRESSING THE BRAKE THERE IS NO INDICATION OF TIRE PROBLEMS OF ANY KIND. SPEED CAN BE INCREASED AFTER RELEASING THE BRAKE AND NO PROBLEM IS DETECTED UNTIL THE BRAKES ARE ACTIVATED AGAIN. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE REQUIRED REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE ROTORS. THE REPAIR STATION STATED THAT THIS IS BOTH A COMMON AND A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH CHRYSLER BECAUSE THE ROTORS ARE MANUFACTURED TO THIN AND THOSE THIN ROTORS WARP AFTER ABOUT 30000 MILES. ALSO IT WAS STATED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AT CHRYSLER BUT THERE IS NO RECALL TO CORRECT IT. CHRYSLER STATES THAT IF THIS PROBLEM OCCURS WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD (36 MOS/36000 MILES) THAT THE ROTORS MAY BE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE. THE SUBJECT VEHICLE HAS 30800 MILES BUT IS OUTSIDE THE 36 MONTH PERIOD. REGARDLESS OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD THIS SHOULD BE CLASSIFIED AS A MANUFACTURING/DESIGN PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER IS ALLOWING THE CUSTOMER TO TEST THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT AND ALLOWING THE CUSTOMER TO ASSUME THE RISK OF VEHICLE FAILURE. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL OF ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BUMPER SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE BREAKDOWN WHILE BEING DRIVEN. THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT HAD COME ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR TWO DAYS AND HAD IT CHECKED TWICE AND WAS TOLD THE BATTERY WAS FINE. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, WARNING LIGHTS STARTED APPEARING ON INSTRUMENT PANEL SHOWING FAILURES IN BRAKES, SAFETY SENSORS AND MORE. TRIED TO MAKE IT TO A DEALER 20 MILES AWAY BUT VEHICLE STARTED SHUTTING DOWN. WAS TOWED TO DEALER AND HAD TO HAVE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR AND PCM REPLACED. WAS TOLD ALTERNATOR WAS "FRIED"--THERE WERE BURN MARKS ON IT. SINCE THAT TIME THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WHICH CONTROLS AUTO HEADLIGHTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR

I HAVE HAD THE VAN FOR THREE AND A HALF YEARS. FIRST, WHEN I GOT VAN, I TOOK IT BACK IN FOR REAR HATCH OPENING ON ITS OWN. IT WOULD JUST OPEN. WE COULD BE AT WALMART OR IN THE GARAGE, AND IT WOULD BE OPEN. WE HAD ISSUES WITH KEYS. CAR WOULD START BEEPING AND SAY KEY NOT DETECTED. IF YOU OPENED A DOOR, BUT DIDN'T TURN CAR OFF, CAR WOULD SAY KEY NOT DETECTED. WE HAVE TO TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART. MY HUSBANDS KEY SET GAS NEVER WORKED. THEN LAST YEAR, I HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE CONSOLE REPLACED BECAUSE RADIO AND SATELLITE AND NAVIGATION WOULD JUST SHUT DOWN. NOW, IT JUST DIED SUNDAY. HAD TO JUMP VAN. TOOK TO FIRESTONE, AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I'M BEING TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT'S THE TPIM CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO NOT SHUT OFF. IT'S BEEN THERE SINCE MONDAY. IN FACT, WE TOOK IT HOME MONDAY AFTER PAYING FOR DEALERSHIP TO RECONFIGURE THE ELECTRICAL. CAR HAD TO GO BACK TUESDAY. RECEIVED A CALL TODAY THAT IT WAS THE TPIM CAUSING FUEL PUMP TO NOT SHUT DOWN. AFTER TURNING ON IGNITION, WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON HIGHEST SPEED, ALTHOUGH SWITCH INDICATED THEY WERE TURNED OFF, THERE WERE NO LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, THE SPEED, TEMPERATURE AND MESSAGE CENTER WAS NOT WORKING, RADIO WAS WORKING BUT HAD NO LIGHTS, AIR AND HEAT PANEL WAS WORKING, TURN SIGNALS WERE NOT WORKING. APPEARED TO BE ELECTRICAL OR COMPUTER MALFUNCTION. TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON TWICE TO ATTEMPT TO FIX ISSUE, BUT SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN BOTH TIMES. ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT OF TURNING OFF VEHICLE AND RE-STARTING, SWITCHED ON AND OFF THE LIGHT SWITCHES, WIPER SWITCH, TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS A FEW TIMES, AND LIGHTS AND MESSAGES CAME BACK ON. CONCERNED THAT POSSIBLE COMPUTER MALFUNCTION MAY OVERRIDE OPERATOR'S ABILITY TO CONTROL LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND OTHER SAFETY NECESSITIES WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. REPORT ON BEHALF OF CUSTOMER VEHICLE. CUSTOMER WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION TO THE REAR OF HER 2011 TOWN AND COUNTRY. MODERATE SPEED COLLISION, DAMAGE TO BUMPER AND REAR BODY PANEL. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH ACTIVE RESTRAINT HEADREST SYSTEM DESIGNED TO DEPLOY FORWARD AND UPWARD TO PREVENT INJURY DUE TO OCCUPANT HEAD MOVING BACKWARDS IN REAR COLLISION. ACTIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEM FAILED TO DEPLOY IN THE COLLISION; HOWEVER, APPROXIMATELY TEN DAYS LATER WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE DURING NORMAL CONDITIONS, THE HEADRESTS DEPLOYED, STRIKING THE DRIVER IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START FOR LACK OF FUEL REACHING THE ENGINE. THE PROBLEM WAS THE FAILURE OF THE INTERNAL TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP RELAY TO SHUT OFF. I HAD SEVERAL CONVERSATIONS WITH CHRYSLER AND DURING CONVERSATIONS LEARNED THERE WAS A SHORTAGE OF THE PARTS WHICH INDICATES THIS IS A FREQUENTLY OCCURRING SYSTEMIC FAILURE AS WELL AS A SAFETY ISSUE. CHRYSLER IS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING MASSIVE RECALLS FOR FUEL PUMP ISSUES. HOWEVER, THE TIPM MODULE FAILURE IS NOT PRESENTLY INCLUDED IN A RECALL.
