Rear passenger door is stuck in the locked position and cannot be unlocked manually or with the fob. This is dangerous if children in the rear seats would need to exit the vehicle.
The passenger side sliding door made an awful noise when closing and since then will not lock. It occasionally makes noises like it isn't closing properly but then does close. This happened about 2 weeks ago but we have not had it checked for repair as I feel this is a safety issue that should be addressed by Chrysler since my research has shown it is a very common complaint with Chrysler sliding doors as well as expensive repair. We are worried about the security of not being able to lock our vehicle as we frequently travel and even sleep in it.
Drivers rear sliding door is in a locked position and it can not be opened. The dealership said it was a malfunctioned door lock actuator. Its the same part as the 2015 and up actuator that Chrysler extended the warranty on to replace the faulty part. My van falls under the mileage limit, but will not be covered because its a 2014. My opinion is , if the part was found faulty for the 2015 and is the same as the 2014, then the 2014 part is also faulty and should be covered.
Right side passenger door will not open even when unlocked by push button or by pulling on handle. Can only exit side left side door, the traffic side. This could be dangerous as children or adults may exit out into traffic. The vehicle is available for inspection. Called the dealership and they said only 2016 models were under recall. They said this is a known “actuator problem”. They would not examine vehicle unless I paid a fee. This occurred without warning.
The left side passenger sliding door won't latch thus causing a safety hazard. I have read that hundreds of thousands of these cars suffer the same defect and this is being investigated by the NHTSA. https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2021/chrysler-dodge-minivan-sliding-door-problems.shtml https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/Discussion-c24092_ds899542
Right sliding door would not open, electrically or manually. Passengers where trapped inside until another door was opened for them to exit. The problem has been inspected and repaired by an authorized Chrysler dealer. There were no warnings of failure.
When hot, the drivers side passenger door does not latch. Multiple people have made comments about the same issue (many for the 2014 model) through various forums. No known solution exists. Would like NHSTA to see if/how many other complaints received as this should be a recall. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Passenger side sliding door malfunctions when the temperature is above ~80 degrees F. It refuses to latch and cycles open-shut, open-shut, indefinitely, sometimes while the vehicle is in motion. Discovered that by pressing hard on the body panel behind the malfunctioning door, the cycle can be disrupted. Has been an issue for 3+ years. Local Chrysler dealer will fix it for $1000 + and acknowledges that it is a common problem.
The passenger side sliding door will not latch when the weather is hot, over 80 degrees. Now when I drive the alarm bell of the door being open has started going off. Worried the door will open while driving putting my children im danger.
On warm days, the sliding door on driver's side will not latch when it closes. The door constantly tries to latch shut. After the van has been sitting in a garage, out of the direct sunlight, it is able to latch shut again. This opening and closing occurs while the vehicle is in motion and stopped. Furthermore, there is a seat right next to the door. Thus, this is a safety risk because the unlatched door poses a risk of injury or death during a collision or accident. The Chrysler dealers have not able to solve this issue and there are countless instances online of other van owners reporting the same issue. This is well, documented issue that the manufacturer cannot explain or solve. Please recall the van before someone dies.
I BOUGHT A 2014 TOWN AND COUNTRY FROM MORAN BUICK DEALERSHIP IN SEPTEMBER 2020 BY FEBRUARY 2021 I HAD TO REPLACE COMPONENTS IN MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW TWICE DUE TO FAILURE AND THE WINDOW FALLING IN MY DOOR. ALSO NOTICED A HUGE OIL SPOT ON DRIVEWAY WENT TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOILD MY OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED AND IT ON BACK ORDER OVER 4 MONTH. LOOKING ONLINE THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE. HOW CAN I FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE WITH OIL LEAKING OUT CONSTANTLY.
When vehicle is exposed to consistent sunlight and heat during the spring/summer months, the driver's side power sliding door will not latch properly, causing the door to repeatedly try to latch itself shut. This occurs when opening/closing the door, and also while the vehicle is in motion. For example, if the door is shut properly, and the vehicle goes over a bump or something disrupts the ride, the door will think it is open, the warning light comes on the dashboard, the interior lights activate and the electric latch motor will repeatedly activate until the van thinks the door is closed. Even when parked, I have returned to the vehicle to find the door trying to close itself.
THE SLIDING DOOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WILL SOMETIMES START OPENING AND CLOSING, AS IF IT IS ATTEMPTING TO RE-LATCH. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND HAD TRAVELED OVER A BUMP. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSING BUT DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO LATCH PROPERLY.
DRIVER SIDE REAR SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT LATCH ALL THE WAY. KEEPS POPPING IN AND OUT. WHEN DRIVING THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT COMES WHEN WHEN I HIT A BUMP. I HAVE READ ONLINE THIS HAPPENING TO MANY OTHER TOWNS AND COUNTRIES.
Right passenger sliding door has trouble latching when the weather is hot. For the past three years, every time the weather turns hot the sliding door acts up. It will close but won't completely latch unless you push hard on the back of the door, and even that doesn't last. I'll be driving down the road and randomly it'll unlatch and try to relatch with the door ajar alarm on the dash. I fear that the door will open on its own with my children in the back. But this only happens in the heat of the day. Many times I will hear my car alarm going off when I'm inside my home because it's trying to relatch itself.
SLIDING DOORS HAVE DIFFICULTY OPENING AND CLOSING ON BOTH SIDES. PLASTIC COVERING BREAKS OFF EVERY TIME THE DOORS OPEN/CLOSE, LEAVING EXPOSED WIRES ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
