The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the massage "Blind Spot Service Unavailable" was displayed and the blind spot arrow was present in the driver’s side mirror causing a visibility hazard for the driver. The contact indicated that while driving in the dark the arrow created a glare in the side mirror making it difficult to view images in the mirror. Additionally, a constant audible chime was present while operating the vehicle. In addition, the back-up camera was also inoperable. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 120,000.
Our transmission pump seized while driving on a highway. We couldn’t get out of gear and we’re stuck doing 20mph till we got home.
If the transmission loses hydraulic pressure, the vehicle may lose motive power, increasing the risk of a crash. Chrysler's number for this recall is S44 My transmission is starting to do this but I don't understand if my vehicle is the same year why is not showing on the vin# to be a recall?
Front passenger active head restraint (headrest) activated without a collision event.
I was just driving down the road and noticed my headset was pushing out toward my head. Upon inspection, it had been deployed but there was no accident that caused it. It is now pressing against my head all the time while I am driving and cannot be pushed back to normal position. Many news reports on this happening in all US cities: https://abc11.com/headrest-deploy-malfunction-safety-troubleshooter/5908516/ The repair estimates are between $700-$900, but those that report it to the local news station the manufacturer sometimes fixes it for free! This should be recalled! Help!
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, a whining sound came from the transmission. Additionally, while depressing the accelerator pedal, the RPM would increase however, the vehicle would not respond as intended. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced a failure with the recall. The failure mileage was 80,000. The consumer stated that at the time of failure, they were driving approximately 20-40 mph while in traffic. Also, the transmission was replaced about two weeks after the incident and the vehicle is working properly.
The transmission will not shift past 1st. I have had 3 transmissions in this vehicle and they all failed . This is a real issue . Check engine light on and shows powertrain transmission fail. We went out of town on vacation and transmission went out and vehicle would die out. It would not shift past 1st. We where scared my family and I, that we would not make it back to our state. We did not know this would be this unsafe and unable to leave our town. Let alone drive it. Please help
Unprompted, the active head restraint(headrest) deployed.
The passenger right side sliding door locking mechanism has failed. It makes a very loud rattling / ratcheting sound when the door closes automatically. No warning lamps or messages indicating a failure. Date first noticed was June 22, 2022. The problem was reproduced and confirmed by an independent service center. We have been told the local Chrysler Dealer is backed up for months due to lack of Service Staff. The concern is for the safety of passengers in that the lock is not working properly and the door could open or possibly jam in an accident situation. We have been informed by others in the community that the Dealer has been known to confiscate vehicles that have recalls that they do not have parts or people to repair. Vehicles are kept behind a locked fence. This seems illegal. This vehicle is needed and can't be given up or seized by a dealer. No loaner vehicles.
Car was in drive way and passenger seat head rest popped out while no one was in the car
Was driving down the road and the front passenger seat headrest blew apart for no reason at all
The passenger side sliding door has started intermittently not closing/latching completely whether closed manually or using automatic closure. The door will close but report as open either immediately or sometimes randomly while driving down the road. I know because the door ajar sign is lit, it makes a door open noise, and the overhead lights will even turn on. This could last seconds or minutes. I have had success closing the door manually multiple times, but I can't stop every 5 minutes on a longer trip. You can hear the motor continuously trying to close but will not latch. I have not been able to replicate for dealer, but searching online demonstrates other users are having this complaint. This also seems to happen more during warmer weather. I worry that a failure of the door latching mechanism could cause safety features to not perform correctly during a collision.
Car passenger headrest is deployed and cylinder 6 is misfiring as described under the recall description from the previous years vehicles recalls.
on 5/22/22 at 88,530 miles, we were stopped at a light - NO ACCIDENT! the passenger side seat headrest exploded forwarded, hitting my wife in the head, causing her extreme neck/back pain. She is seeing doctor regarding her neck/back.
When I unlock my van or open my door and it unlocks a loud buzzing noise comes from my passenger back sliding door, it happens every time, not occasionally. I have already been on a message board online where hundreds of van owners are reporting the exact same thing. WHERES THE RECALL
Car has intermittent start issues related to the fuel pump relay in fuse box. Many reports & fixes on YouTube including engineers manufacturing parts & fixes. My van is sketchy & I use it for business travel 3 or four hours away where I get stuck. I’m not happy Chrysler has ignored this major issue.
When driving my van it will chug going up hills or faster then 25mph like the transmission is slipping. The seat belt light will appear and say it's not connected when driving have to keep pushing seat belt in to get it to stop saying driver seat belt unbuckled.
My spouse was driving and the headrest air bag deployed hitting her in the back of the head. There were no warnings before it happened and the dealership said that it seems to be an issue that they are aware of but there are no recalls at this time. Since this has happened the seatbelt light is on.
Driving at 30 mph with no issue stopped at a four-way crossing. As we were starting to move across intersection the van shifted then completely lost all forward motion with no warning like it was stuck in neutral. No warning lights came on until after power train lost all power. No accident occurred but lost all forward motion. Mechanic shop says powertrain will have to be replaced. Dealership never mentioned an issue with powertrain on last visit to them for ofluid change. Did not know of recall but not sure if van is on recall list due to it sitting at the mechanic shop.
After Transmission failure 6 Months ago problems with Steering Vehicle, finally System locked up and unable to make a Left Turn.
The transaxle oil pump experienced a loss of hydraulic oil pressure due to an improperly manufactured transaxle oil pump. I was driving down the road when my car started experiencing issues. I was fortunate to not be in an accident as my ability to speed up or slow down the car did not function properly. There is a safety recall for this issue but my car is just slightly outside of the manufacture dates. Clearly the issue is replicated in vehicles outside of the recall manufacture dates. There was no warning prior to experiencing the failure. It was quite a scary situation and I'm fortunate it did not end in an accident.
Our van only has 83,000 miles and the transmission failed. While driving 45 miles an hour the car started to shake. While trying to find a safe place to pull over the car lost power. It was pulled into a parking spot and left for the tow company.
While driving, the van would rev up to almost 600 rpm & wasn't stopping and then the thermal light or a red light came on. We eventually got to the next exit & thought maybe it was the coolant, though we had checked it previously. It did have antifreeze in it, also, the temperature gage was not high or showing it was overheating either. After checking, we started on the road again, and the engine light was flashing and the van started to rev then lose power while we were driving on the highway it was quite scary. The thermal light was on and the engine light was flashing. We had to pull over due to the issue since it was no longer safe to drive. We ended up getting it towed & we were several hours from home. Our mechanic said he's seen this issues with the transmission on Chryslers town & country before. We can provide the Mechanic receipts to assist with support on this. We've already had to pay for a rebuilt transmission to be put in and truly shouldn't have to pay for a 20k vehicle to be fixes with less than 135k miles on it when it is well taken care of.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to two independent mechanics, where it was diagnosed with needing the transmission pump to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V461000 (Power Train), however the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000. The consumer stated the vehicle was inspected by 3 different dealers and determined there was a faulty transmission pump. The consumer is appealing the recall and requesting to be part of the recall.
passenger side air activated head rest engaged with piston intact. plastic holding piece broke apart. now the headrest is apart and there is no head restraint on the passenger side this it is a health and safety issue.
The drivers head rest deployed while my vehicle was parked at home overnight. This vehicle is equiped with active head restrain and is supposed to deploy in case of a rear ended accident.
When I accelerate, the vehicle jumps, as if the transmission is slipping. It seems like it does it when it needs to change gears. There aren’t any lights on to indicate anything is wrong, however, this problem is consistent and I’m scared the vehicle will leave my small children and I on the side of the road
In July 2020, while on a trip, driving on the interstate at approximately 70mph, the driver front door window trim flew off, luckily not hitting the vehicle behind me. I suspect if would have caused damage if it had, even possibly going through a window. It cost $92 for the new part (APPLIQUE. B Pillar. Left). In January 2022, while on a trip, driving on the interstate at approximately 70mph, the passenger front door window trim flew off, luckily not hitting the vehicle behind me. As stated above, it could have been a problem had it hit any vehicle behind us. It cost $86 for the new part (APPLIQUE. B Pillar. Right) . I was able to find the parts online rather than going through a dealer (cost $150+ from them). A friend who works for Caliber Collision offered to put the replacement parts on for us, saving us labor costs. He mentioned he has seen this problem on numerous Town and Country vans. The only warning we had was a sudden high whistle as the piece came off. The parts never felt loose so we had no reason to suspect they would come off. This seems to be a design flaw that I think we should be reimbursed for. I can supply the receipts if that is a possibility.
WE PURCHASED A SET OF 4 NEW TIRES ONLINE WITH MANUF. WARRANTEE. HAD THEM INSTALLED. EXACTLY A WEEK LATER THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE BLEW WHILE DRIVING TO PICK MY DAUGHTER FROM SCHOOL(ON THE SIDE NOT TREAD OF TIRE.) CALLED HANKOOK . ITHEY ASKED ME TO GO TO TIRESPLUS TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AND REPLACEMENT DONE. THE TIRE PLACE PUT THE NEW TIRE ON AND CHARGED ME. THEY STATED CALLED HANKOOK AND PUT THE CASE NUMBER IN BUT DID NOT AGREE TO SEND THE BROKEN TIRE IN WITH THIER DISTRIBUTOR TO HANKOOK SO THAT THEY COULD DO A REFUND OR REPLACEMENT. I SPENT HOURS ON THE PHONE BACK AND FORTH. I NEEDED A CAR SO I PAID AND LEFT. I STILL KEPT CALLING AND HANKOOK STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REFUND ME. THAT THEY NEEDED THE TIRES PLUS PLACE TO RETURN THE TIRE, THEY WOULD PAY THEM AND THE TIRES PLUS HAD TO PAY ME. THE TIRES PLUS STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT DO THAT AND THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE HANKOOK DISTRIBUTORS, EVEN THOUGH I WAS SENT TO THEM. THESE WERE BRAND NEW TIRES LESS THAN A WEEK INSTALLED. I AM NOW WORRIED THAT THE OTHER 3 MAY BE DEFECTIVE AND I HAVE ALREADY SPENT OVER MY BUGET ON THIS ISSUE. I SPOKE TO JD AT HANKOOK 615-432-0700 WHO SAID SHE WOULD TALK TO HER SUPERVISOR. I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. I WILL EMAIL THEM A COPY OF PAYMENT PROOF AND PHOTOS OF THE TIRES. BUT SHE STATED THAT IF TIRES PLS WAS NOT SENDING THE TIRE, THEY COULD NOT REFUND ME. THE COMPANY THAT THEIR REPRESENTATIVE YOCELYN-TOLD ME TO GO TO---WILL NOT SEND THEM THE TIRE ,SO I DONT GET MY MONEY BACK. AND IM NOW CONCERNED ABOUT THE OTHER TIRES ALSO.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to pull over nearby an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a transmission pump failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the independent mechanic. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
power train failure - transmission pump failed- lost power- resulting in wreck with my two young children in the car. This year and make is involved in a recall , but not my VIN per this website. Have read 100 other instances that are exactly like mine.
The transmission failed on a four lane highway (with 78,260 miles and original owner), as my wife and young son were trying to pull out from an intersection and merge into traffic, risking their safety and others on the same road. A moaning noise, which points to the transmission pump that was recalled on other same year models, seems to be the culprit according to the dealership, which requires a new or remanufactured transmission. After speaking my wife, who was in the process of running errands on 1/5/2022, the vehicle did not make any noise upon starting on her trip, but did start a slight moaning noise at one of her stops, which she stated sounded similar to the sound a power steering pump makes when low on fluid. Additionally, the vehicle was in for its annual safety inspection and PA emissions testing on 12/16/2021, for which it passed with no issues noted. The vehicle is currently sitting at a garage (after getting an initial diagnosis at the purchased dealership, Jim Shorkey Chrysler in North Huntingdon, PA) to get a second estimate of needing a new transmission. There were no warnings prior to this occurring, such as hesitation, check engine lamps, etc., and even on initial drop off, the check engine light still was not illuminated (the dealer has stated there are 3 codes for the transmission in the computer, but was not able to confirm whether the engine light was on now). After now reading various Internet websites, speaking with both the dealer and a mechanic, and even to a local tow truck driver, these vehicles all appear to have very similar transmission issues. The local mechanic stated he has replaced three of these exact transmissions for pump issues within the last few months. Being that there is such a backlog on replacements of this model, this points clearly that it is a safety issue on these vehicles and many, many of the same model outside of the recall date are suffering the same fate and NEED to be recalled IMMEDIATELY.
The battery and check engine lights are constantly on despite a new battery, new battery cable, and new alternator. The cruise control will randomly stop working. Abs and vehicle stability lights will go on and off. And at times headlights, dash, and radio screen will flicker and lose power making it impossible to see or know what the car is doing. Mechanic has looked at and repaired the car 3 different times and there is nothing identifiably wrong. The car is now unsafe to drive not knowing when the dash will go out, speed will reduce, or lights turn off. It is a hazard to the driver and others on the road.
While driving at 45 mph on a smooth suburban road, the rear windshield exploded. Previously, there had been no visible flaws in the glass. The windshield heater had been used for about 20 minutes, but turned off more than an hour before. The glass apparently exploded outward, as there were no glass shards in the empty row of kids booster seats in the rear. By internet search we learned there have been many of these same incidents over the years.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while walking towards the vehicle, the contact became aware that the driver’s side headrest had deployed and was detached from the seat. The contact stated that there was no impact to the vehicle to cause the headrest to deploy. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 183,000.
On 10/13/2021 the front passenger seat headrest activated for no apparent reason. The van was at a complete stop. After inspecting the headrest I determined the plastic had broke and allowed the headrest to spring forward. The rod that locks the headrest in the normal position was still in the clamp indicating that the computer did not activate the headrest. The plastic holding the rod broke. Luckily the passenger was leaning up preparing to exit the vehicle so the headrest did not hit him in the back of the head. I called the dealer and asked if there was a recall for this issue and they indicated there was not.I believe this is an extremely unsafe incident and am afraid that the driver’s side might be next.I believe it could cause serious head and neck injuries if falsely activated. I have researched and found many complaints about the same issue. I have temporarily put a strap on the headrest to hold it closed.
The head rest deployed
transmission was slipping- Chrysler deal inspected the car and found transmission had low oil pressure due to worn oil pump . they replaced the transmission and oil cooler assemble A recall for a transmission pump seizing causing low pressure has been issued for some Chrysler Town& Country 2015.
The active headrest restraint deployed & broke the plastic without being in an accident. No way to reset since the place is broken.
The passenger side sliding door will not latch closed in hot weather. It continuously tries to close but doesn’t latch. This has been happening for years. Now it is starting to do this while driving when the door is not even being opened or closed. The overhead lights come on and the door ajar symbol flashes and dings. It will continue to do this for 20 minutes or more while the door continuously tries to close. I have two children and feel that this is a safety issue because the door is not secure while driving. I have not yet taken it to a dealer because I have read online that tons of people have this problem and dealers haven’t been able to find a cause.
Transmission completely fails with only 83,000 miles. Paid at a Chrysler/Dodge dealership to have the transmission replaced with a new one. August 17th after driving the vehicle the transmission failed again. Took several weeks before they replaced the transmission valve body on supposedly a new transmission. After 1,644 miles the vehicle again loose power.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while her father was driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact called the local dealer but, the vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact stated the failure was like NHTSA campaign number: 16V461000 (Power Train) however, the Vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
Having issues with the side doors. It does not want to open or close. Both side doors are having this issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was able to restart after an hour. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who stated that a repair was a waste of money as no diagnosis or repairs were done. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The transmission was replaced however, the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic who then replaced an unknown filter however, the failure still occurred. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic who stated that a thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
BOUGHT THE CAR NEW IN 2014, (IT WAS THE 6TH CHRYSLER MINIVAN I'VE OWNED SINCE 1995.) I LOVE THESE MINVANS! THIS ONE HAS HAD AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH CYLINDER #3 MISFIRING AND CAUSING VIOLENT SHAKING (AS IF IT HAD A BROKEN ENGINE MOUNT). THE PROBLEM HAS ALWAYS BEEN DIAGNOSED AND EVENTUALLY "FIXED" BY THREE DIFFERENT CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS IN NC, FL & VA.(THE PROBLEM OCCURED ON VARIOUS TRIPS). IT WAS USUALLY DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY FUEL INJECTOR. MOST RECENTLY IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A SPARK PLUG FAILURE DUE TO A TINY CRACK IN THE INSULATION. THEY INSTALLED A NEW SPARK PLUG, AND AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP AND DRIVING NO MORE THAN 20 MILES, VIOLENT SHAKING OCCURED AGAIN. I IMMEDIATLEY RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS TIME #3 SPARK PLUG HAD "EXPLODED" AND CAUSED THE CYLINDER HEAD TO CRACK. ALL PREVIOUS REPAIRS WERE COVERED BY THE "LIFETIME" WARRANTY PURCHASED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE IN 2014. HOWEVER THIS TIME, CHRYSLER INSURANCE SENT AN INVESTIGATOR WHO DETERMINED THAT THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY THE EXPLODING SPARK PLUG AND THEREFORE DENIED COVERAGE. THE CHRYSLER SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID THE "PCM" FAILED, CAUSING THE SPARK PLUG FAILURE. THE INSURANCE AGENT CONTINUES TO DENY THE CLAIM BECAUSE THEIR POLICY "DOES NOT COVER SPARK PLUG PROBLEMS" ! THEY NOW WANT ME TO PAY $2500 FOR REPAIRS. IN ALL CASES, THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" CAME ON AND I WOULD RETURN TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THEIR COMPUTER CHECK ALWAYS DEFINED THE PROBLEM AS BEING SOMETHING IN CYLINDER #3, BUT INCONCLUSIVE BECAUSE OF NO OBVIOUS ENGINE SYMPTOMS. THEY WOULD RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT AND SEND ME ON MY WAY UNTIL AN ACTUAL PROBLEM OCCURED, AND THEN LEAVE THE VEHICLE FOR MORE DETAILED CHECKING. EACH TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND USUALLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON I-95...A DANGEROUS TIME AND PLACE FOR ENGINE PROBLEMS TO OCCUR. PLEASE NOTE THAT EVERY PROBLEM WE'VE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN WITH CYLINDER #3 "MISFIRING". IS THERE A PROBLEM HERE?
While exiting our parked 2015 Town and Country, the driver side active headrest on my wife’s van went off. There was no collision or jarring of the vehicle. We contacted the dealer and were told it would have to be repaired out of pocket. I have seen this problem online and feel as though a recall should have been in place.
When I turn on my wipers the lights on the dashboard either go .com or completely off. This happen every time I turn on the wipers.
The engine turns off while driving at freeway speeds for no reason. It loses power increasing the risk of crash because there is no steering power. Also when coming to a stop, it begins to idle very rough then the engine dies. No check engine light on. Yes problem has been confirmed by 2 separate transmission mechanics. This is the same problem as Chrysler recall number S44 (transmission pump failure). But my manufacture date missed the recall by about 5 months.
I bought my car from 440 Dodge in Jersey City NJ, I had Mopar Insurance for repairs. I bought it back twice for transmission purposes, Dealer did change a somewhat sensor to change shifting on trans at no charge cause I was covered but know it's happening again, Not shifting accordingly, gas is burning cause of staying in gears that are not shifting. Trans is not slipping but I'm having the same problem on shifting and will stay stuck on same gear and car will keep accelerating wich in some cases l'd have to keep foot on brake, pull over and let system reset. What are my options in this case, Thank You
MY 2015 TOWN AND COUNTRY CHRYSLER MINIVAN WAS PARKED IN A HOT GARAGE IN FLORIDA IN THE EARLY MORNING, WHEN I OBSERVED THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER'S HEADREST TO BE OPENED AND APPEARING TO BE FORCED FORWARD. NO ACCIDENT OR MOVING WAS INVOLVED. THERE WAS NO ACTIVITY THAT SHOULD HAVE CAUSED THE HEADREST TO DEPLOY FORWARD. I BELIEVE THIS IS PROBABLY A HEADREST THAT IS USED FOR AN ANTI WHIPLASH DEVICE IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. WITHOUT A DOUBT, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE OF THIS HEADREST COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES. NO INJURIES TOOK PLACE.
