Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)I BOUGHT 4 NEW GOODYEAR EAGLE LS2 225/35R17 TIRES ON AUGUST 08/2018 AT A LOCAL GOODYEAR STORE. ON 05/05/2019 MY GRANDDAUGHTER WITH HER ONE YEAR OLD BABY IN THE BACK CAR SEAT. WERE APPROACHING THE FREEWAY, WHILE STILL ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP THE FRONT TIRE TOTALLY BLEW OUT AND DISINTEGRATED. THERE WAS LESS THAN 10% OF TIRE LEFT ON THE WHEEL. SHE PULLED OFF ONTO THE GRASS AND WAITED FOR ASSISTANCE FROM THE HIGHWAY PATROL. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE AT ALL TO THE ALUMINUM RIMS, AS SHE DIDN'T DRIVE ANY FARTHER. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A BLOWOUT DISINTEGRATE MORE THAN NINETY PERCENT OF THE TIRE. I AM NOT AN EXPERT, BUT THIS SURE LOOKS LIKE A DEFECT IN THE TIRE ITSELF. ONCE AGAIN ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE TO MY ALUMINUM RIM.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE REAR TIRES WITHIN 8,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THAT CAUSE OF THE FAILURE.
