2008 DODGE CHARGER A DEPT OF PUBLIC SAFETY HIGHWAY PATROL VEHICLE WAS ON THE OHIO TURNPIKE TO STOP SOMEONE FOR A SPEEDING VIOLATION WHEN THE LIGHT BAR ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR BECAME DISMOUNTED AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE ROOF. *KB ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, THE OFFICER FOUND THE MOUNTING BOLT ON THE RIGHT SIDE HAD BROKEN INTO TWO PIECES WHICH CAUSED THE LIGHT BAR TO BECOME DISCONNECTED FROM ITS MOUNT. I BOUGHT A 2008 DODGE CHARGER DAYTONA FROM CHAPMAN DODGE IN LAS VEGAS, NV. THEY SOLD ME THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW WITH 22" TIRES. THE TIRE ARE HITTING THE FENDERS AND CUTTING INTO THE TIRES. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND THEY SAID IN AN EMAIL THAT CHRYSLER CORPORATION DOES NOT RECOMMEND THIS SIZE TIRE ON THIS CAR BECAUSE IT WOULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAD FIVE FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE VEHICLE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO AND NOTICED A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN I STOPPED TO INVESTIGATE THE LIP OF THE FENDER WAS ALL BENT AND THERE WERE CUTS IN THE TIRE. IF I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MPH AND THIS HAPPENED, THE RESULTS COULD OF BEEN TRAGIC. *TR
PLASTIC RADIATOR COOLING FAN BROKE APART, SHATTERING THE FAN BLADES, FAN SHROUD AND MAKING NUMEROUS LARGE HOLES IN THE RADIATOR. VEHICLE UNDRIVEABLE AND REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. POLICE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW FAILED TO ROLL DOWN. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING AND HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 43,100.
ELETRICAL FAILURE 2010 - 2015, STEERING RESISTANCE 2013-2015, WIRES BURNING LEFT SIGNAL BACK LIGHT GONE. FRONT SIGNALS LEFT/RIGHT MALFUNCTION, TRUNK UNABLE TO OPEN WITH PROGRAM KEY 2012 -2015. WEPPLEASE SAVE MY FAMILY AND CONSUMERS OF US.
I HAVE A 2008 DODGE CHARGER WITH 15,500 MILES WITH IN THAT SAME WEEK I HAVE HAD MY CAR AT GARY MATHEWS MOTORS DODGE, JEEP, AND CHRYSLER 3 TIMES AND I'VE BEEN TALKING TO RYAN L. BROWN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR THE FIRST TIME ON 4-21-09 THEY HAD IT FOR LESS THAN ONE DAY AND SAID IT WAS FIXED THAT THE COMPUTER CHIP FAILED AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. I HAD THE CAR FOR ONE DAY AND I HAD TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN ON WEDNESDAY 4-23-09 AND THEY HAD TO TOW MY CAR IT WASN'T DRIVE ABLE THIS TIME THEY SAID THE SAME CODE WAS COMING UP BUT THEY REPLACED THE TRANS SOLENOID AND PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC ALSO RNR VALVE BODY THEY THEN SAID THEY FIXED THE CAR AND IT WAS GOOD TO GO THE I HAD THE CAR FOR A COUPLE MORE DAY AND IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN IT WENT BACK IN ON SATURDAY 4-26-09 AND TODAY IS FRIDAY 5-1-09 AND THEY REPLACED THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULAR ON TUESDAY 4-28-09 AND THEY SAID THE SAME CODE IS STILL COMING UP AND THEY HAVE TO REPLACE MORE PARTS SINCE THE 28 OR APRIL THEY HAVEN'T CONTACTED ME SO I CALLED THE CHRYSLER COMPANY TO LAUNCH A COMPLAINT AND SPOKE WITH ERIC SMITH I TOLD HIM WHAT WAS GOING ON AND HE SAID HE WOULD CALL GARY MATHEWS AND FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AND CALL BACK AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR I CALLED THEM BACK AND SPOKE WITH JACK WILLIAMS HE SAID THEY CALLED AND WE DIDN'T ANSWER BUT MY PHONE NEVER RANG AND THEN JACK TOLD ME THE SAME THING THE GUY AT GARY MATHEWS WAS ALL READY TELLING ME ABOUT MY CAR SO I GOT UP SET BECAUSE I CALLED CHRYSLER TO GET SOME THING DONE BECAUSE I BOUGHT A NEW CAR IT'S 1 YEAR OLD AND I CAN'T DRIVE IT AND NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT SO I ASKED TO FILE FOR A LEMON LAW HE SAID HE DID SO AND GAVE ME A REFERENCE NUMBER OF 18546683 THEN I ASKED HIM WHAT ELSE CAN I DO AND HE TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD GIVE IT A COUPLE OF DAYS I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I BOUGHT A NEW CAR ITS BROKE DOWN AND NO ONE CAN FIX IT CAN YOU HELP ALSO EVEN IF THEY DO FIX IT THEY HAVE REPLACED SO MANY MAJOR PARTS ITS THE CAR SAFETY I DON'T TRUST THAT CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *TR
MY 2008 DODGE CHARGER WAS WRECKED IN APRIL. THE ABS LIGHT AND ESP (TRACTION CONTROL) LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON. THE NEXT THING I KNEW THERE WAS NO BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I CONTINUED TO MY DESTINATION ONLY A FEW MILES AWAY AND PLANNED TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. AS I TRIED TO STOP SO I COULD GET OUT TO OPEN A GATE THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP AND I WRECKED THE CAR. THERE WAS NOTHING DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE CAR WAS TOTALED AND NOTHING WAS EVER DONE BY DODGE OR CHRYSLER TO COMPENSATE FOR THE PROBLEM. IN FACT I WAS TOLD THAT THE VERY MOMENT THE LIGHTS CAME ON I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE IF I LIVED IN A BIGGER CITY, BUT I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY WITH VERY LITTLE CELL PHONE RECEPTION IN SOME AREAS. *TW
2008 DODGE CHARGER R/T - BRAKES SQUEAKING 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE AND HAVE NOT STOPPED SQUEAKING. SQUEAKS ALL TIMES OF THE DAY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES, WITH NO RESULTS. *TR
THE OHIO STATE HIGHWAY PATROL REPORTS THAT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE ON 2 OF THE 20, 2008 DODGE CHARGER POLICE CRUISERS IT IS EVALUATING WAS FOUND TO BE DETACHED FROM ITS MOUNTING BRACKET. THIS CAUSED THE MISS-ALIGNMENT BETWEEN THE PRNDL AND THE TRANSMISSION WHICH COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STILL BE IN DRIVE WHEN THE PRNDL INDICATES PARK.
THERE SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH DODGE CHARGERS (2006 - PRESENT). WHEN ACCELERATING AND PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL A "WHISTLE" SOUND CAN BE HEARD COMING FROM THE POWERTRAIN / ENGINE SECTION. THE SOUND ONLY OCCURS DURING STEADY ACCELERATION BETWEEN 40 - 65 MPH. IF THE GAS PEDAL IS RELEASED OR PRESSED HARDER THE SOUND GOES AWAY. MANY CHARGER OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE ON THEIR VEHICLES (SE, SE+, SRT, R/T, ETC..) BUT THE SERVICE CENTERS AT THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE YET TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS YET. THIS COULD BE AFFECTING THOUSANDS OF CHARGER VEHICLES AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS CAR ON AUGUST 4 2008. INITIALLY, WHEN I TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, THE CAR WOULD MILDLY VIBRATE ON A COMPLETE STOP. I TOLD THE SALES REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WE BOTH AGREED IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A MINOR ISSUE. HE STATED THE PROBLEM WILL BE CORRECTED PRIOR TO PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. I DID NOT THINK NOTHING OF THE ISSUE. THE DAY I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE SALES REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED THROUGH THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT. ONE WEEK LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHTED UP ON A SATURDAY MORNING PRIOR TO ME GOING TO WORK. I DROVE TO WORK WITH THE LIGHT ON WITH NO OTHERS PROBLEMS. AFTER ARRIVING AT WORK, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP REQUESTING A APPOINTMENT AT EARLIEST TUESDAY MORNING. ON THAT TUESDAY MORNING, THE MAINTENANCE REPRESENTATIVE SUGGESTED THAT THE ENGINE SENSOR REVEALED " FLEX PLATE" ALSO THAT I SHOULD LEAVE THE VEHICLE WITH HIM FOR ARRIVAL OF THE PART THE FOLLOWING DAY. I AGREED AND WAITED FOR TWO DAYS. ON FRIDAY MORNING, AUGUST 15 2008, I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE UNDER THE ASSUMPTION EVERYTHING WAS OKAY. AFTER SIGNING THE MAINTENANCE INVOICE, I NOTICED THE TECHNICAL NAME OF THE PROBLEM WAS A "FLYWHEEL." I FELT A LITTLE MISLED. LATER, THAT AFTERNOON, THE CHECK ENGINE FLICKERED ON AND OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE STARTED VIBRATING VERY HARD WHEN STOPPING OR SLOWING DOWN. *TR
CRUISE SHUTS OFF CONTINUALLY AT RANDOM TIMES...AS SHORT AS 30 SEC OR AS LONG AS 15 MINUTES. SPEEDOMETER ALSO WILL SHUT OFF AND GO TO 0 MPH THEN KICK BACK ON. *TR

HALEIGH IS MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, AND WE BOUGHT THIS CAR ON 5/31, WE HAD PEOPLE AT OUR HOUSE ON 6/1 FOR A PARTY SO KIDS WERE IN AND OUT ALL DAY. HALEIGH WENT IN MY CAR BEING CURIOUS, THE DOORS ALL SHUT, AND SHE COULD NOT OPEN THE DOORS BECAUSE ALL 4 DOOR HANDLES ARE SOLID METAL AND WERE SO HOT THAT THEY BURNED HER HAND AND SHE COULD NOT GET OUT. WHEN I FOUND HER SHE WAS ALMOST PASSED OUT FROM THE 125 DEGREES THAT IT WAS IN THE CAR, AND HAD TO GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. NO LIFE THREATENING INJURIES OCCURRED, BUT COULD HAVE EASILY SINCE SHE COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE CAR. I HAVE ALSO BURNED MY HAND ON THE DOOR HANDLES MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE THEN BECAUSE THEY ARE SOLID METAL. THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED, BEFORE A CHILD GETS SERIOUS INJURIES!!!! *TR
2008 DODGE CHARGER SE PLUS 3.5HO SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE I NOTICED A VERY BAD SHAKE/SHUDDER/STUTTER WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING, MAINLY FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, WHICH RESULTS IN POWER LOSS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO VARIOUS DEALERSHIPS NUMEROUS TIMES. ONE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE SYMPTOM, AND THAT IT WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. ANOTHER DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT I AM TAKING ABOUT, BUT THAT DODGE HAD NOT COME UP WITH A FIX FOR IT YET, AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD. I SEE THIS AS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THIS SHOULD BE CORRECTED ASAP. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE PART TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT CONFIRM WHEN THE PART AND REMEDY WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
TRANSMISSION SHIFT HARD FROM 1ST TO SECOND GEAR EVERY MORNING. LOUD ENOUGH TO HEAR INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF CAR. DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO FIX OFR THIS PROBLEM, AND IT COULD BE ON ALL THE NEW 2008 V6 CHARGERS. THEY HAVE FAILED TO TELL THE PUBLIC THIS INFORMATION. AND FAILED TO FIX MY CHARGER. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE IN 3 WEEKS. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2008 DODGE CHARGER IN MARCH OF '08. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING, ONE WEEK AFTER BUYING THE CAR. THE FRONT END OF THE CAR AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD ALSO SHAKE AND VIBRATE. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER TO INFORM THEM OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS. I RETURNED TO PICK THE CAR UP AFTER THEY CALLED ME TO TELL ME THEY HAD FIXED IT. I ASKED THEM WHAT WORK THEY DID AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY "CLEANED" THE PADS. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE BRAKES WERE STILL SQUEAKING AS I WAS DRIVING THE CAR OFF THE LOT. THE CAR ALSO CONTINUED TO SHAKE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I RETURNED SHORTLY AFTER TO HAVE THEM TRY AND FIX IT AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKES FOR 2008 CHARGERS "SUCK" AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO BUY AFTERMARKET ROTORS AND PADS. I BOUGHT THE PARTS AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM INSTALL THEM. ONE WEEK LATER, THEY WERE SQUEAKING AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2008 CHARGERS AS I'VE FOUND BY READING NUMEROUS FORUMS ON THE INTERNET. *TR
I BOUGHT MY 08 CHARGER 3.5L V6 IN JAN OF 08. ONLY WEEKS AFTER I NOTICED THAT IT SHIFTS HARD ON THE VERY FIRST SHIFT OF THE DAY WHEN IT GOES FROM 1ST TO 2ND. AFTER THAT IT SHIFTS FINE. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE SHOP 3 TIMES. TWICE THEY UPLOADED A NEW COMPUTER PROGRAM. IT DIDN'T HELP. THE LAST TIME THEY CLAIM TO HAVE REPLACED ALL OF THE SEALS IN THE TRANSMISSION. THAT DIDN'T FIX IT EITHER. I HAVE JUST GIVEN UP NUT I AM CONSIDERING FILING A LEMON LAW CLAIM. FIGURED WITH THEM BEING IN THE TROUBLE THEY ARE IT WOULDN'T REALLY GET ME ANYWHERE. WE HAD PURCHASED A 2008 DODGE CHARGER WITH 2 MILES. APPROXIMATELY 3-4 MONTHS AFTER WE HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IT HAD ENGINE OIL ON CRANKSHAFT SEAL, SPEEDOMETER WAS ERRATIC IT WOULD GO FROM 60-0 FROM CRUISING, IT HAD A JOLT PULLING FEELING. FROM THAT POINT ON THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT COOLING PROPERLY, & HAD A FOUL SMELL, CRUISE CONTROL WOULD CANCEL BY ITSELF. THEN ON 06/23/2008 IT HAD ENGINE OIL LEAK. SO WE DECIDED TO DO SOMETHING THAT WOULD JUST COMPLETELY RUIN OUR CREDIT, WE VOLUNTARILY TURNED IN THE CAR. AS OF TODAY 02/26/2009 WE HAVE A BALANCE AS PER CHRYSLER OF 7,500 DOLLARS BECAUSE THEY WERE ONLY ABLE TO SELL IT FOR 17,000. I HAVE INVOICES, TO PROOF WHAT OUR ISSUES WERE, SOME WERE REPLACED, SOME TSB WAS AND WASN'T FOUND. WE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR ONLY 7-8 MONTHS. AND FOR THIS TO BE SUCH AN ISSUE WITH A BRAND NEW VEHICLE TO ME WAS JUST RIDICULOUS. SINCE THAT WAS THE MAIN REASON I HAD PURCHASED A BRAND NEW CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE CHARGER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED, PREVENTING THE VEHICLE FROM BEING STARTED OR BEING SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED WITH AN ENTIRE FLEET OF DODGE CHARGERS THAT WERE BEING UTILIZED BY THE LANIER COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 180,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 DODGE CHARGER. WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES, THE VEHICLE VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE STALLED TWICE WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHILE DRIVING OVER 40 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE KEY MODULE AND RPM MODULE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE REMAINS. SHE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,970.
