AS A FOLLOW UP TO ODI # 10100538, SINCE MY INITIAL COMPLAINT FILED ON ON NOVEMBER 25, 2004 SHEEHY REPLACED THE EVAPORATION CANISTER ON MY VEHICLE. ON JANUARY 5, 2005 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ONCE AGAIN. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BACK IN SHEEHY'S SHOP. THEY NOW TELL ME THAT THE GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AS THE EVAPORATION LEAK IS EXCESSIVE COMING FROM THE GAS TANK. THEY HAVE PUT ME IN A RENT A CAR UNTIL THE NEW GAS TANK COMES IN. I HAVEN'T PUT 5,000 MILES ON IT YET, IT HAS LESS THAN 26, 000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 6 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN MARCH 2004 (PURCHASED AS A USED VEHICLE). I WANT TO KNOW WHAT RECOURSE I HAVE AS EVERYTHING DONE TO THIS POINT HAS FAILED AND I AM AFRAID THAT ONCE THE GAS TANK IS REPLACED THAT I MAY BE IN DANGER OF SOMETHING ELSE FAILING IN WHICH CASE I MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY TO LIVE TO TELL OR REPORT IT TO ANYONE.*AK
PREMATURE WEAR OF UPPER BALL JOINTS. REPLACED AT 41,000 MILES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. *JB
WHILE APPLYING BRAKES VEHICLE CONTINUED TO STALL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. DEALER STATED THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK THE CONSUMER CAME TO A STOP TO LET ONCOMING TRAFFIC PASS. THE CONSUMER PUT FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND NOTICED THE VEHICLE HAD STALLED WITH NO WARNING WHILE THE HEADLIGHTS WHERE STILL ON. ON OTHER OCCASIONS HEADLIGHTS WOULD DIM AND THEN GET BRIGHTER AS THE VEHICLE SPIT AND SPUTTERED FOR 15 SECONDS. THE CONSUMER HAD 4 CO-PILOTS INSTALLED AND WAS NOT ABLE TO HOLD THE RECORDINGS. THE VEHICLES LEFT FRONT SPEAKER WAS NOT WORKING. THE REAR HATCH LIGHT WILL NOT STAY IN BECAUSE THE RETAINER CLIPS BROKE. THE VEHICLE HAD AN OIL LEAK. THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY IN THE VEHICLE. *TC
UNRESOLVED COLLAPSING GAS TANK, GAUGE STICKS READING THREE-QUARTERS OF A TANK OF FULL, REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH GAS IS ADDED TO THE TANK. IN ADDITION, THE DOOR LOCKS LOCK OFF AND ON INTERMITTENTLY FROM TIME TO TIME. *AK
I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY BALLJOINTS ON MY 2003 DODGE DURANGO AND THEY FIX IT. BUT THEY DIDNT FIX MY TIRE STUD . WHEN THE BALLJOINT CAME APART THE WHOLE TIRE CAME OFF AND BROKE MY STUDS AND I TOLD THEM AND THEY DIDNT FIX IT.*AK
DRIVER'S SIDE AUTOMATIC WINDOW IS STUCK INI THE DOWN POSITION. THE WINDOW WILL NOT GO BACK UP AT ALL AND ELECTRONIC WINDOW MECHANICISM, IS NOT MAKING ANY SOUND OF WORKING. CAR IS PARKED IN A GARAGE, TO PREVENT MOISTURE DAMAGE, TO INSIDE OF VEHICLE.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR CONDITIONER HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON 6 OCCASIONS FOR REPAIRS. THE AIR TEMPERATURE THAT COMES FROM THE VENT IS 56 DEGREES. ACCORDING TO THE OWNERS MANUAL THE AIR TEMPERATURE SHOULD BE 42 DEGREES. THE DEALER STATED THE DOOR FLAP THAT SEPARATES THE HEATER AND AIR CONDITIONER GETS STUCK MID WAY CAUSING THE AIR TO BE TOO WARM. *AK UPDATED 04/19/06. *JB
CONSUMER TOO VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER UPPER BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
UNDER 12,000 MILES THE FRONT ROTORS WERE RESURFACED. AT 19000 MILES DEALERSHIP RESURFACED THE ROTORS AGAIN. DEALERSHIP INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR RESURFACED ONC EMORE. *AK
THE FRONT AND SIDE CURTIN AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN A ACCIDENT ON 8/8/04 I WAS THE PASSENGER IN A 2003 DODGE DURANGO R/T IN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA AT ABOUT 6 PM. THE DRIVER DIVERTED THE CAR FROM A REAR END CULISION WITH A DISABLED OUT THAT WAS STOPPED IN THE #2 LANE 0F THE 101 EAST WHEN THE DRIVER AVOIDED HIT THE CAR. THE DURANGO WENT IN TO A CIRCUL SERVIED TO THE RIGHTT MISSING THE STOPED CAR, THEN AT A RATE OF SPEED APX. 60 TO 65 MPH OUR DURANGO COLLIDED WITH THE CENTER DIVIDER ON THE EAST BOUND 101 FREEWAY HEAD ON WITH IMPACT THAT CAUSED MAJOR FRAME DAMAGE TO THE SUV AND SENDING US IN TO ON COMMING TRAFFIC. THE SUV AT THAT POINT CAME TO STOP ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE EAST 101WITHOUT HAVING HIT ANYOTHER CARS. PON THE SUV BE TOWED INTO THE AUTO BODY SHOP, CYNTHIA COHAN AND I RELIAZED ALONG WITH THE BODY SHOP OWNER THAT THE FRONTAL AIR BAG DIDN'T DEPLOY NOR DID THE SIDE AIR BAG CURTIN.*AK
VEHICLE SWERVED TO AVOID A DISABLE CAR IN THE MIDDLE LANE, SPUN IN A FULL CIRCLE AND THE AIR BAG HAD NO FRONT SENSORS TO DEPLOY THE BAG. *BF THE CONSUMER STATED SHE PAID ADDITIONAL MONEY TO HAVE SIDE AIR BAGS ON THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER UPON EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THERE WERE NO SIDE AIR BAGS, THE TECHNICIAN ALSO FOUND THERE WERE NO FRONT SENSORS IN THE VEHICLE TO DEPLOY THE AIR BAGS. *JB
I HAVE A 2003 DODGE DURANGO WITH ABOUT 30,000 MILES ON IT AND THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS THE CENTER CAP ON THE WHEEL IS COMING OFF WHEN THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN. AT FIRST I THOUGHT MAYBE SOMEBODY WAS STEALING THEM BUT I NOW KNOW THAT ISN'T TRUE. AFTER I LOST TWO OF THEM I DECIDED TO CHECK THEM EVERY TIME I GET IN OR OUT OF THE CAR. YESTERDAY I HAD TO GO TO THE DOCTOR, SO BEFORE I GOT INTO THE CAR I LOOKED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE TWO CENTER CAPS THAT WERE LEFT WAS STILL IN THEIR PLACES OF WHICH THEY WERE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DOCTOR I CHECKED AGAIN AND THIS TIME I WAS MISSING ONE ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE. I DID NOT STOP ANYWHERE SO I KNOW THAT IT HAD TO COME OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I ALSO CALLED THE DEALER PARTS PERSON TO FIND OUT IF THEY HAD REPLACEMENTS AND HOW MUCH THEY WERE AND HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAS BEEN HAVING A RUN ON THEM AND THAT EITHER SOMEBODY MUST BE COLLECTING THEM OR THEY WERE DEFECTIVE. I KNOW THAT SOMEBODY WILL GET HURT BADLY IF THEY GET HIT BY ONE OF THESE, ESPECIALLY IF THE PERSON IS DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. I NOTICED NOISE IN THE FRONT END OF MY 2003 DODGE DURANGO AND FOUND THAT I HAD MOVEMENT IN MY UPPER RIGHT BALL JOINT, SO I POINTED THIS OUT DURING MY ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION AT THE DEALER. BOTH UPPER BALL JOINTS WERE FOUND TO BE WORN OUT DURING THE INSPECTION. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 28,000 MILES ON IT AND IS DRIVEN A MIX OF HIGHWAY AND LOCAL DRIVING....NO OFF ROAD USE. THE REPAIR WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *JB
PROBLEMS WITH WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND THE RELAY SWITCH WAS BAD. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. *SC **JB
DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE WINDSHIELD WIPER RECALL REPAIRS WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME BECAUSE THE RECALLED REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 5 MONTHS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED. SUDDENLY, DRIVER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE THERMOSTAT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY, DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *LA
I NOTICED THAT MY RIGHT TIRE WAS LOOSING IT WAS TREAD. I THOUGHT THAT I COULD JUST TAKE IT IN FOR A WHEEL ALLIGNMENT, BUT THE SHOP SAID THAT IT WAS A WORN OUT UPPER BALL JOINT. IT IS GOING TO COST ME AROUND $800.00 TO FIX IT. I AM OVER ON MY WARRANTY BY 1000 MILES AND WHEN I CALL DAIMLERCHRYSLER THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A PENDING INVESTIGATION ON THIS MATTER, BUT DO NOT OFFER ANY INFORAMTAION. I THEN NOTICED ON THE INTERNET WHERE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I THINK THAT SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS AND SO MANY OF US OWNERS OF THE DODGE DURANGO THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL INTO THIS MATTER. BALL JOINT PROBLEMS SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM UNTIL 100,000 MILES AT LEAST.*AK
WHEN BRAKING BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED. VEHICLE WAS TAKING TO THE DEALE, AND DEALER REPLACED BOTH FRONT ROTORS. CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT BOTH ROTORS WORE OUT PREMATURELY AT 16,000 MILES.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH THERE WAS SEVERE VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, FRONT BRAKE PROBLEM, IT TOOK LONGER TO STOP. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
MY COMPLAINT IS A 2003 DODGE DURANGO. LESS THAN 13,000 MILES AND BALL JOINTS, ARM CONTROLS, BRAKES, SWAY ARMS ARE GOING OUT. LAST WEEK WAS THE 2ND TIME JOINTS WERE REPLACED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THIS. HAVE THERE BEEN ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS. I FEEL AS THOUGH VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. ESPECIALLY WITH MY 11 YR. OLD DAUGHTER AND 2 YR. OLD SON. 1. 2003 DODGE DURANGO STARTED POPPING IN FRONT END WHEN MAKING SHARP TURN. ALSO HAD PROBLEM WITH REAR SQUEEKING AND VEHICLE WAS GOING INTO LOWER GEAR WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN IT SHOULDN'T. ALSO WAS IDLING LOW.*AK 3. BOTH BALL JOINTS WORN OUT AT 20,626 MILES. LUBED BUSHINGS AND SPRING PADS IN REAR. COULDN'T DETERMINE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO A PASSING GEAR AND WAS TOLD TO JUST PUSH ON THE GAS AND HOPE THE ENGINE WOULD BLOW UP.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED A DEALERSHIP , WHO DETERMINED THAT THE DEFECT WAS THE OIL PICKUP IN THE ENGINE, THAT CAUSED IT TO LOCK. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN A REPAIR SHOP FOR 4 MONTHS. *AK
I HAVE BEEN HEARING A WEIRD RUBBING NOISE ON THE FRONT RIGHT OF MY DODGE DURANGO. BEFORE I COULD TAKE IT IN TO GET WORKED ON, I RAN OVER A SMALL POT HOLE. THE UPPER BALL BEARING JOINT BROKE. I WAS TOLD THAT YOUR ORGANIZATION IS DOING AN INVESTIGATION. CAN YOU HELP? OR CAN I HELP? *LA
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN FEBRUARY OF 2003. THE VEHICLE WAS NEW WITH LESS THAN 100 MILES. AT APPROXIMATELY 15000 MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A RUBBING NOISE WHENEVER DRIVEN OVER ANY BUMP. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALER AND HE INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE UPPER BALL-JOINTS. HE THEN PROCEEDED TO ORDER THE WRONG PART. AFTER A WEEK THE CORRECT PART FINALLY GOT INSTALLED AND THE NOISE WAS NO LONGER PRESENT. DODGE FROM TOP TO BOTTOM HAS LOST MY CONFIDENCE NOT TO MENTION MY BUSINESS.
WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40 TO 50 MPH THERE WAS SEVERE VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER REPLACED ROTORS. AND PADS, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WAS HOPPING WHEN BRAKING. FIRST, AT HIGH SPEEDS AND NOW AT ANY SPEED. OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE ROTORS WERE MADE OF A DIFFERENT ALLOY WHICH WAS NOT COMPATIBLE TO THE BRAKE PADS, CAUSING THE ROTORS TO WARP. *AK
HAD THE BALL JOINTS REPLACED ON A 2003 DODGE DURGANO AND BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND TRUCK IS STILL RIDING AND HANDLING BADLY. DEALERS DO NOT TAKE THE PROBLEM SERIOUS. WHAT CAN I DO.*AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED THEM THREE TIMES. *AK ON 04/2004 AT 9029 MILES, THEY SAID REPLACED BRAKE PADS WITH HEAVIER ONES AND TURNED THE ROTORS AND THAT WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. ON 03/2005 19356 MILES, THEY SAID REPLACED THE CALIPERS WHICH STICKING. BRAKE PADS AGAIN AND TURNED ROTORS AGAIN. HEADLIGHTS DIM WHEN ROLLING DOWN POWER WINDOWS. *BF
I BOUGHT MY 2003 DODGE DURANGO NEW IN APRIL 2003. IN LESS THAN 12,000 MILES, I HAD TO HAVE THE BRAKE ROTORS REPLACED 2 TIMES. IT NOW HAS 18,000 MILES ON IT AND THE ROTORS ARE BAD AGAIN. ONLY THIS TIME, THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I PAID OVER $30,000 FOR THIS VEHICLE. I DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE BRAKES REPLACED 2 TIMES A YEAR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT I WILL LOSE MY BRAKES AND GET HURT OR HURT SOMEONE. I SAW YOUR SERVICE BULLETIN # 0500703, BRAKE SHUDDER OR VIBRATION. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT MY DURANGO IS DOING. I HOPE YOU CAN HELP WITH THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE EXACT DATES THAT I HAVE HAD THE ROTORS REPLACED ARE UNKNOWN WITHOUT CHECKING WITH MY DEALER. THE DATE BELOW IS AN APPROXIMATE FOR THE LAST TIME. BRAKES VIBRATE/SHUDDER WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT AROUND 40 MPH. FIRST SERVICED AT 10130 MILES. RESURFACED ROTORS AND REPLACED FRONT PADS. SERVICE NOTED THERE WAS A TSB FOR VIBRATION BUT NO RECALL YET. BACK TO SERVICE FOR SAME PROBLEM AT 17619 MILES. REAR ROTORS WARPED AND BOTH WERE CUT. THIRD TIME BACK FOR SAME PROBLEM AT 21127 MILES WHEN I ALSO TOOK MY DURANGO IN FOR REAR HATCH DOOR NOT LOCKING. THEY NOTED THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AGAIN BUT I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE BACK TO ORIGINAL DEALER SINCE THEY WERE FIRST TO WORK ON THE BRAKE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT MADE IT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER FOR THE 3RD TIME FOR REPAIR.*AK
I AM DRIVING 2003 DODGE DURAGO. ON 3-12-04, I WENT TO A CAR WASH. I SHIFT THE LEVER TO N, AND THE PRNDL SHOWED THE N POSITION. WHEN THE WASH DONE, THE DYE STARTED, I FELT THE CAR WAS GOING BACKWARD. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING UNTIL I HIT THE CAR BEHIND ME. THE CAR WASH MECHINE STOPPED, I NOTICE THAT THE PRNDL WAS ILLUMINATING HALF OF THE R, THE CAR WAS CHANGED TO REVERSE! THE SIMILAR THING HAPPEND BEFORE. ONE TIME I WAS DRIVING ON THE LOCAL ROAD(45 MILE/HOUR), IN A SUDDEN, I HEARD STRANGE LOAD NOISE, THEN I SAW THE PRNDL SHOWING "2" INSTEAD OF THE "D". ANOTHER TIME, THE GEAR WAS CHANGED FROM "D" TO "N" WHEN I WAS DRIVING. *AK
DODGE DURANGO AXLE AND TIRE FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BROKE OFF AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE; I BELIEVE THE ISSUE HAD TO DO WITH THE UPPER BALL JOINT OF THE DODGE DURANGO.*AK
I BOUGHT A USED 2003 DODGE DURANGO ON 2/28/2004. IT RAN FINE FOR A FEW DAYS. THE FRONT END WAS NOT PERFORMING AS IT SHOULD. THIS ONLY HAS 27,000 MILES ON IT SO I THOUGHT IT NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT MY MECHANIC AS ALIGNMENTS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DAY BEFORE I WAS TO TAKE IT TO HIM THE CBS NEWS SHOWED A STORY ON DODGE DURANGO'S AND THE UPPER BALL JOINTS. I ASKED OUR MECHANIC TO CHECK THESE ALSO. HE FOUND THE LEFT SIDE WORN AND THE RIGHT SIDE WAS TO THE POINT THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I CALLED THE DEALER SHIP THAT IT WAS PURCHASED AT AND OF COURSE THEY HEAD MECHANIC STATED THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT. AFTER MY HUSBAND MENTIONED THE NEWS STORY AND WHAT OUR MECHANIC FOUND, THEY STILL TRIED TO SAY IT MUST BE THE BEARINGS. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS VERY RUDE TO HIM EVEN THOUGHT IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. HE INSISTED THEY BE REPLACED. MY HUSBAND WAS A MECHANIC BUY TRADE SO HE KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT. I FEEL SORRY FOR THE PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS. OUR APPOINTMENT IS ON 3-9-04. WE WILL OF COURSE TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO INSPECT THEY REPLACED WHAT WAS WRONG. WE HAVE BEEN DODGE OWNERS FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND I CAN NOT BELIEVE SOMETHING THIS SERIOUS IS BEING HIDDEN BY THEM. THEY HAVE LOST MY VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IN RELIABILITY. THEY DID NOT CHECK THE DURANGO PRIOR TO SELLING IT, OTHERWISE THEY WOULD HAVE SEEN THE PROBLEM IMMEDIATELY. I AM AFRID TO DRIVE MY OWN CAR FOR FEAR OF SOMETHING BAD HAPPENING. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS MATTER AND AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS FROM 2002 AND ON, WHY IS THIS NOT BEING ADDRESSED WITH CHRYSTLER? WE RELY ON YOUR SERVICE AS AN INDEPENDENT AND WE NEED YOUR BACKBONE IN MAKING THIS A RECALL ISSUE. PLEASE TAKE THIS AS SERIOUS AS WE ALL DO. THANK YOU. *AK

GAUGE WAS ALL THE PAST HOT, I STOPPED THE DURANGO TURNED IT OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE GAUGE READS THE NORMAL TEMP. AND THE DASHBOARD ICON IS UNLIT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY CHECKED EVERYTHING OUT AND CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY SAID NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH DASH ICON ON AND THE TEMP GAUGE PEGGED PAST H.*AK
THE BACK SEAT SEAT BELTS DO NOT HAVE A LOCKING MECHANISM. CHILD SEATS ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO INSTALL PROPERLY.*AK
I PURCHASED A 2003 DODGE DURANGO FROM BLEECKER DODGE IN DUNN, NC. I HAVE THREE COMPLAINTS THAT I WOULD LIKE TO PUT ON FILE: FIST COMPLAINT: MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE TERRIBLE NOISES THAT REQUIRED ME TO TAKE IT FOR SERVICE. THE SOUNDS WERE SCRAPING NOISES COMING FROM THE STEERING COMPONENTS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND BOTH THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED. SECOND COMPLAINT: DURING THE COLD WEATHER MONTHS, I WAS WARMING MY VEHICLE AND HAD SCRAPED THE ICE FROM MY WINDSHIELD. THE DEFROST WAS ON. WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD MY WINDSHIELD CRACKED. EXACT DATE OF THE INCIDENT IS UNKNOWN TO ME BUT IT WAS DURING ONE OF OUR SNOWS. IT HAS LEFT ME WITH A CRACKED WINDSHIELD. I HAVE TAKEN NO STEPS AS OF YET TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THIRD COMPLAINT: EVEN MORE RECENTLY, MY "CHECK GUAGES" LIGHT CAME ON. MY VEHICLE SHOWS NO OIL PRESSURE. I CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHILCLE AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT BLEECKER WILL NOT BE BACK IN UNTIL MONDAY. I AM WITHOUT A VEHICLE THIS WEEKEND. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 35,000 MILES ON IT AND IT HAS BEEN PLAGUED WITH PROBLEMS SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED IN OCTOBER OF 2003.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED REAR DISC BRAKE SQUEALED. DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE ON TWO OCCASIONS, AND CLAIMED THAT THE SYSTEM WAS WORKING NORMALLY. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING CONTROLS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE FOR REPAIRS, BUT A REMEDY WAS NOT PROVIDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT. THE STEERING WAS LOOSE. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A FRONT END ALIGNMENT. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK

DAMAGE ESTIMATED AT $10,000 PLUS BY CLAIMS ADJUSTER. NATIONWIDE INSURANCE IS SUBROGATING AGAINST CHRYSLER TO RECOVER MONEY. *AK EA03-023
ON JANUARY 26, 2004, OUR 24 YEAR OLD SON, BRANT, WAS DRIVING OUR 2003 DODGE DURANGO ON I-85 NEAR COMMERCE, GEORGIA. TIME 2:00 AM.. ROAD CONDITIONS COLD & RAINY. FOR UNKNOWN REASONS, THE RIGHT/FRONT TIRE AND MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY (BALL JOINTS.. EVERYTHING) CAME OFF THE CAR CAUSING HIM TO SKID INTO RIGHT SIDE GUARD RAIL. NATIONWIDE INSURANCE ESTIMATED DAMAGE IN EXCESS OF $12,000. THE DURANGO IS 10 MONTHS OLD WITH APPROXIMATELY 17,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATION REQUESTING A BUYBACK.. OR RETURN OF OUR MONEY LESS REASONABLE MILEAGE ALLOCATIONS. WE FEEL THE PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE AND NOW SERIOUSLY DAMAGED BEYOND REASONABLE REPAIR. CHRYSLER DENIED OUR CLAIM, REFUSED TO ISSUE COPIES OF REPORTS THEY USED FOR THEIR DENIAL, SIMPLY OPTING FOR REASONS UNKNOWN TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE ANY FURTHER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED AND JERKED. ANOTHER MOTORIST INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE CONSUMER EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND WATCHED THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BECOME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED WITH NO INJURIES. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT ENGINE THREW A ROD, AND IT PUNCTURED THE OIL PAN. *AK THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. *SC
WE NOTICED POPPING IN THE FRONT END TOOK DURANGO TO DEALER THEY REPLACED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY, FEW MONTHS LATER IT STARTED POPPING AGAIN ,WE TOOK IT BACK TO A DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLIES. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 4 MONTHS AND IT IS POPPING AGAIN PLUS THEY SENT US THE RECALL ON THE UPPER BALL JOINTS. I AM SCARED TO LET MY FAMILY RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE I BELIEVE IT HAS SERIOUS PROBLEMS IN THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM THAT HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIX TWO TIMES AND NOW THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME AND THERES NOT EVEN 30000 MILES ON IT. *JB

THIS IS AFTER I HAD THE UPPERS REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL. I AM NOT SURE HOW LONG THESE PARTS ARE GUARANTEED TO LAST BUT I KNOW I HAVE MUCH OLDER VEHICLES THAT STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL PARTS IN THEM. SOUNDS LIKE THEY SHOULD HAVE RECALLED MORE THAN JUST THE UPPER BALL JOINTS. I AM GOING TO HAVE THEM REPLACED BUT I THINK A FAILURE AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME SHOULD ALSO BE INVESTIGATED FOR A POSSIBLE RECALL, PERHAPS CHECKING THE WHOLE FRONT SUSPENSION WOULD BE WISE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED BECAUSE SOMETHING FALLS OFF THE CAR. *NM
THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE SUSPENSION AND/OR STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON A WINDY DAY THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS FORCED TO REDUCE HIS SPEED TO DRIVE IN THE WINDY CONDITIONS. *PH *NM
PE 03-032/FRONT SUSPENSION/UPPER BALL JOINT FAILURE: AT ANY SPEED, CONSUMER INTERMITTENTLY HEARD A SEMI SCRAPING NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER'S MECHANIC WAS SCHEDULED TO GIVE THE VEHICLE A CHECK UP, BUT FELT FROM THE SYMPTOMS THAT IT WAS THE UPPER BALL JOINTS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT CONSUMER HEARD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END. THE DEALER STATED, TO CALL NHTSA, AND GAVE NO FURTHER EXPLANATION.*AK
VEHICLE HAS A BRAKE PULSATION AND HAD A BRAKE SQUEAK. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN 10-03. VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACED THE ROTORS. THIS DID NOT ELIMINATE THE PULSATION BUT DID ELIMINATE THE SQUEAK. THE TRANSMISSION BANGS INTO GEAR AND HAS A LONG DELAY GOING FROM PARK INTO REVERSE. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE DEALER MORE THAN 10 TIMES. THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS AFTER TELLING US THEY FELT SOMETHING BUT DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS. ENGINE STALLS AND RUNS ROUGH. THIS IS INTERMITTENT AND DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE IT. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH SEVERAL TRANSMISSION SHOPS AND THEY HAVE STATED THAT THERE IS A FIX FOR THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. CHRYSLER WILL NOT PERFORM THE REPAIR. THEY DID AGREE TO INSTALL THE NECESSARY PARTS IF I PURCHASED THEM BUT THEN THIS WOULD VOID MY WARRANTY. AND WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR A REPAIR THAT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY?? *JB
