I'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE STALLING AT RANDOM TIMES WHERE I'M STUCK STRANDED FOR ABOUT 2 TO 5 MINUTES BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL START AGAIN WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE CASES OPEN WITH CHRYSLER AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN HAMPON VIRGINIA. MY CURRENT CASE NUMBER WITH CHRYSLER IS 34055781. I'M NOW GETTING THE RUN AROUND AND CHRYSLER SEEMS UNWILLING TO HELP ME. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE AND I FEAR MY FAMILY OR MYSELF WILL END UP IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE LACK OF STEERING WHEN IT SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING. I'VE LOOK ON THE INTERNET AND IT'S LITTERED WITH THIS VERY ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE AS A ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW WHERE ELSE TO TURN AND I HOPE THAT SOMEONE CAN PROVIDE ME SOME GUIDANCE AND LET ME KNOW WHAT OPTIONS IF ANY I HAVE TO EITHER GET OUT OF THIS VEHICLE THROUGH CHRYSLER OR MAKE THEM FIX THE ISSUE PERMANENTLY. IT STALLS AT RANDOM, SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ANY GIVEN SPEED. CHRYSLER CLAIMS THAT THEY'VE REPLACED ALTERNATORS, FUEL PUMP RELAY AND TIPM, BUT IT'S STILL DOING IT AND IT STARTED OUT OF NOWHERE. I'VE REPORTED THIS ISSUE ABOUT 6 TIMES TO POMOCO CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF HAMPTON AND 4 TIMES NOW TO CHRYSLER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT THEN RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. LONE STAR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (8811 INTERSTATE 35 ACCESS RD, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78211) WAS CONTACTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
THIS IS A PROBLEM IS ALOT OF DODGE VEHICLES WITH THE PENTASTAR ENGINES. THE VALVETRAIN IS A FLAWED DESIGN AND IS COSTING PEOPLE LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY. MY PROBLEM IS THE ROLLER ROCKER ARM IS WORN AND TICKING. NOT A BIG DEAL RIGHT? HOW ABOUT $1900+ PARTS AND LABOR? WE, LIKE MOST AMERICANS, LIVE PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK AND RELY ON OUR VEHICLES TO GET US TO AND FROM WORK. NOW, WHY DOES A VEHICLE, WITH JUST AT 100000 MILES, NEED NEW CAMSHAFTS, ROCKER ARMS, AND LIFTERS? WELL I'LL TELL YOU WHY. BECAUSE DODGE IS REFUSING TO RECALL ALL THESE UNITS DUE TO EXPENSE. WHAT ABOUT MY EXPENSE? WHY WOULD THEY BE ALLOWED TO NOT RECALL THIS DEFICIENT DESIGN? JUST WONDERING.
THE VEHICLE WILL START BUT WONT GO INTO GEAR. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND ON FOR IT TO FINALLY GO INTO GEAR. WORKED FINE THE NEXT DAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN A FEW WEEKS. OTHER THAN THAT SEEMS TO RUN FINE.
JUST BOUGHT VEHICLE NOT TOO LONG AGO HAVE HAD 3 ISSUES WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING. I PUSH THE PUSH BUTTON AND YOU HEAR IT TRYING TO TURN OVER BUT IT WON'T. ONE TIME IT STALLED IN MIDDLE OF ROAD WHEN DRIVING GOT IT TOWED TO DEALER SHIP THEY REPLACED A FUSE STARTED WORKING AGAIN. NOW IT'S HAPPENED TWICE IN LAST WEEK WHERE IT WON'T START I SEE SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER OWNERS WITH SAME ISSUE SOMETHING WITH THE TPIM. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS ON MY VEHICLE AND NONE CAME UP. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE NOW IN MY VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE MY CHILDREN IN IT .
I DROPPED THE KEYS BETWEEN THE CAR SEAT AND THE CONSOLE. I MOVED THE SEAT TO THE FARTHEST POSITION THAT I WOULD GO BACK. I TURNED TO SIT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR FRAME IN ORDER TO PUT MY LEFT HAND IN TO REACH THE KEYS. THERE WAS NOTHING MOVING BEFORE I MOVED MY HAND. AS SOON AS I TOUCHED THE KEYS THE SEAT CAME DOWN ON TO MY LEFT RING FINGER. I T JUST MOVED IN A DOWNWARD POSITION. I CALLED 911 BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO FREE MY HAND. THE WINSLOW POLICE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND ASSISTED WITH FREEING MY HAND. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND NOT MOVING AT THE TIME. I WENT TO THE PATIENT FIRST CARE CENTER AND THEY DID X-RAYS ON MY HAND.
VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING, TOTAL LOSS OF POWER, STEERING, BRAKES AND THROTTLE. ALMOST KILLED MY FAMILY.
VEHICLE WAS BACKED INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A RESTAURANT WITH NO POSSIBILITY OF A REAR END COLLISION WHEN THE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DEPLOYED. FORTUNATELY WE WERE PARKED, OTHERWISE IT COULD HAVE VERY EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOTICED A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ISSUE FROM OTHERS AS WELL. THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE RETENTION ROD BROKE CAUSING THE RELEASE, SO THE WHOLE UNIT HAS TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST. YOU CAN SEE THE BROKEN PLASTIC IN THE PROVIDED PICTURE. THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF IT DEPLOYED WHILE SOMEONE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED 3 DAYS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT.
BATTERY LIGHT COME ON, SHORTLY AFTER DASH BOARD LIGHTS FLICKERED, WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNOFF ON BY THEMSELVES, HAZARDS ALSO TURNED ON, THEN RADIO AND A/C TURNOFF, POWER STEERING WAS LOST AND THE WHOLE CAR DIED. ONCE CAR DIED, I COULD NOT START IT, TRIED TO JUMP IT AND IT WAS DEAD, WOULD NOT TURNOVER. LATER I WAS INFORMED THE ALTERNATOR IS UNDER RECALL. WHEN REPAIRED BY DODGE, I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY AND STARTER. I BELIEVE THE ROOT CAUSE AND ALL REPAIRS SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE BY DODGE AS THEY WERE ALL CONNECTED WITH SAME EVENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, AN INDEPENDENT TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE STEERING GEAR. IN ADDITION, IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT THE STEERING GEAR BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA TO ENFORCE THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V572000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,115. PART DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED BUT FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR AND TRACTION CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE POWER STEERING BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ROCKWALL CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (970 I-30 E, ROCKWALL, TX 75087) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD BE REIMBURSED WHEN THE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
TAKATA RECALL. RECALL FOR THE ALTERNATOR. I WAS DRIVING ON A VERY BUSY HIGH WAY 77SOUTH SPEED LIMIT 65 MPH WITH MY FAMILY N THE VEHICLE WHEN MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED SLOWING DOWN AND I WAS UNABLE TO STEER . MY CAR HAD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF NOTHING ELECTRICAL WORKED. IT PUT MY FAMILY AND I IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH OUT ANY WARNING. AND NOW I HAD TO BUY A BRAND NEW BATTERY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WOULD TURN OVER IN THE IGNITION, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (GALEANA AUTOMOTIVE GROUP, 28400 VAN DYKE AVE, WARREN, MI 48093) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT ACTIVE HEAD REST DEPLOYED ON IT'S OWN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK A LOOK INSIDE TO RESET IT AND NOTICED THE PLASTIC HOUSING THAT HOLDS THE LOCKING ROD IN PLACE HAD BROKE AND THE LOCKING MECHANISM HADN'T OPENED, THUS ALLOWING THE HEADREST TO BE UNABLE TO BE RESET SINCE THE LOCKING ROD JUST GETS PULLED BACK OUT DO TO THE TENSION ON THE SPRINGS.
WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT AT APROX 15 MPH DRIVERS SIDE HEAD REST EXPLODED SLAMMING INTO THE BACK OF MY HEAD CAUSING SOME PAIN . THIS STARTLED ME AND IF IN A DIFFERENT SCENERIO COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. WHEN DEALER CONTACTED THEY STATED CLIPS COULD OF BROKEN, AND NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY.
WITHIN ABOUT THE LAST 6 WEEKS MY SUV HAS BEEN STALLING WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AREAS WHICH IS HIGHLY DANGEROUS & I LOSE ALL CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE I HAVE CONTACTED THE DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM & THEY ARE DOING THE BARE MINIMUM TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE!!!! KNOWING MY VEHICLE HAS ACTIVE RECALLS!!!
ON 12/24/2017 I STARTED MY DURANGO TO LET IT WARM UP BEFORE LEAVING MY HOUSE, REMOTE START WAS USED. IT WAS MAKING A FUNNY NOISE SO I TURNED IT OFF AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. AT THIS TIME I SAW SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. UPON INSPECTION I NOTICED SMOKE FROM THE ALTERNATOR AND HAD TO PUT WATER ON IT. I TOOK MY DURANGO ON 12/26/2017 TO DWAYNE LANE'S CHRYSLER AND JEEP AT 10515 EVERGREEN WAY, EVERETT, WA 98204. THEY SAID THIS IS RELATED TO RECALL T36 AND THERE WAS NO KNOWN FIX. I UNDERSTAND IF THE ALTERNATOR WAS STILL FINE THEY COULD DO NOTHING. HOWEVER SINCE IT WAS CLEARLY FAULTY AFTER RUNNING THEIR TESTS THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET NEARLY $1200 DOLLARS AND THEN GET REIMBURSED AFTER 90 DAYS. I CALLED DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WORKED WITH SOMEONE TO GET APPROVAL FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO GET PAID. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY WERE UNABLE TO GET THIS APPROVED DUE TO MULTIPLE REASONS (MANAGERS ON VACATION/SYSTEM NOT SETUP TO DO SO). AT THIS POINT I WAS LOOKING AT EITHER NOT HAVING A VEHICLE OR MAKING THE $1200 PAYMENT. I CHECKED AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE DEALT WITH THIS EXACT ISSUE, AND COULD GET IT COVERED. MY CALLS TO DODGE MUST HAVE WORKED BECAUSE THE FIRST DEALERSHIP GOT APPROVAL TO REPLACE WITH ANOTHER ALTERNATOR THAT MIND YOU MIGHT HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. I PICKED UP MY DURANGO 12/27 AND AFTER DRIVING FOR 15 MINUTES THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. I DROVE IT TO THE NEW DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND THEY SAID YES SOME BATTERIES HAVE DIED DUE TO THE BAD ALTERNATORS. THEY SAID DODGE IS NOT COVERING THIS SO $200 DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET. AFTER DRIVING MY DURANGO IT NOW HAS THE BATTERY LIGHT ON AGAIN. NOW THEY ARE SAYING IT IS THE PCM MODULE THAT HAS GONE OUT AND THIS MAY NOT BE COVERED AS WELL. CURRENTLY IT IS 12/29 AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY DURANGO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE THE AIR BAG COIL WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WHITE MOTORS INC. (175 OLD FARM RD, ROANOKE RAPIDS, NC 27870) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG COIL WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,435.

IN DECEMBER 2017 SAID VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SHOP FOR A NO START CONDITION. AFTER BRINGING IT IN WE DETERMINED A SEVERE SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, TRACED TO ALTERNATOR. WE ALSO FOUND MELTED BATTERY. FOUND THIS VEHICLE FELL UNDER THE T36 RECALL FROM FCA. WE GOT APPROVAL AT THAT TIME TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND RECEIVED A CASE NUMBER FOR REIMBURSEMENT. WE HAD TO CALL BACK MULTIPLE TIMES TO CONTINUE AUTHORIZATION, AND WAS TOLD AS LONG AS THE PROBLEMS WERE RELATED TO THE ALTERNATOR THEN THEY WOULD BE REIMBURSED FROM 30-60 DAYS FROM THE TIME OF SUBMISSION. AFTER SUBMITTING NEEDED PAPER WORK AND DOCUMENTATION WE WAITED. THE CUSTOMER STOPPED IN IN MAY AND ASKED US TO CHECK ON IT SINCE HE HAD NOT HEARD ANYTHING YET. CALLED FCA AND FOUND OUT THAT NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE WITH THE CLAIM BECAUSE OF AN INTERNAL ERROR THAT SENT THE PAPER WORK TO THE WRONG DEPARTMENT. AFTER CALLING AGAIN ON 6/13/18 WE FOUND OUT THAT AGAIN, IT HAD NOT BEEN FILED OR SENT TO THE RIGHT PEOPLE. TODAY (6/13/18) I SENT THE INFORMATION AGAIN AND WAS PROMISED IT WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. IT HAS NOW BEEN 6 MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF THE REPAIR AND NO EFFORT HAS BEEN MADE TO REIMBURSE THE CUSTOMER FOR ANYTHING. FCA SAID IT WOULD BE HANDLED IN 30-60 DAYS. I FEEL THAT THIS IS UNREASONABLE. THIS CUSTOMER HAS BEEN VERY UNDERSTANDING BUT IS RUNNING OUT OF PATIENCE. WE NOW HAVE 3 DIFFERENT CASE NUMBERS AND I HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF TALKING TO 4 DIFFERENT PEOPLE TO RESOLVE THE MATTER. WE HAVE OWNED OUR 2013 DODGE DURANGO SINCE IT HAD 30 MILES ON IT. IT HAS 60,000+ MILES ON IT AND FOR THE LAST YEAR IT HAS FAILED TO START ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. WE TOOK IT TO THE CERRITOS DODGE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT COULD BE 2 THINGS. ONE IS $900+ AND THE OTHER IS $1200+ TO FIX IT. WHY SHOULD WE PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT COMES FAULTY FROM THE MANUFACTURER? THIS IS NOT OIL OR A FILTER THAT NEEDS CHANGING EVERY FEW MONTHS. AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT SHOULD NOT BE GOING OUT AT SUCH AN EARLY RATE PLUS BE SO EXPENSIVE. MY BRPTHER BOUGHT THE SAME TRUCK A FEW MONTHS BEFORE US AND IT HAS HAD THE SAME ISSUES AND THEN SOME. THEIR TRUCK ACTUALLY STALLED ON THEM WHILE ON THE STREET. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START FOR OVER AN HOUR. THEY HAD TO GET IT TOWED HOME. THE NEXT DAY WHEN THEY WOKE UP IT STARTED LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. WHEN THEY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT SAME DAY THEY TESTED EVERYTHING AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. NOW WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE? WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR FAULTY MANUFACTURER PARTS? CHRYSLER/DODGE NEEDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE ONCE AND FOR ALL. LETS NOT WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO DIE FROM THESE FAULTY PARTS.
WHILE PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY WITH THE VEHICLE OFF, MY WIFE OPENED THE REAR LIFTGATE USING THE EXTERIOR LATCH HANDLE. THE LIFTGATE RAISED TO THE OPEN POSITION AUTOMATICALLY, BUT THEN SLAMMED SHUT WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE PNEUMATIC STRUT THAT HOLDS THE LIFTGATE OPEN FAILED, THE ENTIRE WEIGHT OF THE LIFTGATE LANDED ON MY WIFE'S HEAD, WHO WAS REACHING INTO THE TRUNK TO REMOVE ITS CONTENTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 DODGE DURANGO. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO CRANK. ALSO, THE BATTERY WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED AUTONATION CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM AND FIAT NORTH COLUMBUS (3000 N LAKE PKWY #100, COLUMBUS, GA 31909, (706) 522-2116) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WOULD BE A FEE. AS I WAS DRIVING I HEARD A POP AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IS WAS. AFTER LOOKING I SAW THAT IT WAS MY DRIVER SEAT HEADREST. IT HAD POPPED OPEN AND I THOUGHT I COULD JUST CLOSE IT BUT I COULDN'T. ABOUT A WEEK LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE DID THE SAME THING WITH NO ONE BEING IN THE SEAT. I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THIS WAS A FLUKE HAPPENING, BUT I HAVE READ THAT THERE ARE QUITE A FEW CUSTOMERS OUT THERE THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MY OPTIONS.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JUNE 2017 REGARDING AN ALTERNATOR ISSUE ON MY 2013 DODGE DURANGO. IT IS NOW NOVEMBER 2017 AND THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY. MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON THIS MORNING AFTER DRIVING FOR LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES IN A 30 MPH ZONE. I HAVE AN INFANT DAUGHTER SO I CANNOT RISK ANY BATTERY ISSUES IN THE DEAD OF WINTER IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. IT HAS BEEN NEARLY SIX MONTHS SINCE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED WITH NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. THE RISKS INCLUDE HEAT/SMOKE OR EVEN FIRE WITHIN THE ALTERNATOR. SIX MONTHS SEEMS LIKE A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF TIME FOR A REPAIR OF THIS MAGNITUDE TO BE NOT BE RESOLVED. I WILL HAVE THE ALTERNATOR REPLACED AND SUBMIT FOR A REIMBURSEMENT BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO THROUGH THAT PROCESS AND INCUR THOSE KINDS OF EXPENSES SO CLOSE TO THE HOLIDAY SEASON WHEN THEY'VE HAD SIX MONTHS TO REACT TO THE SITUATION.

UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE OVER A SMALL BRIDGE, INCLUDING ON AND DECLINING OFF, THEN OVER ANOTHER HILL THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST POWER. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. ONE OF THE ENGINE FANS TURNS ON/OFF MORE THAN NORMAL AND IT'S LOUDER THEN IT BEEN IN THE PAST. I AM NOTICING A TICKING NOISE WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED BUT NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIND OUT THE ISSUE. LASTLY, WHEN ACCELERATING THE GAS PEDAL THE POWER LAGS MEANING YOU CAN LITERALLY FLOOR THE PEDAL AND IT TAKES SEVERAL MINUTES TO GET UP TO SPEED. PRIOR TO THAT, OFTEN TIMES YOU WOULD TURN THE KEY AND THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND THE CAR WOULD DO NOTHING...NOT EVEN TURN OVER. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPS, IT WOULD START. AFTER THE STALL, WE BROUGHT IT INTO OUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER (DUTCHESS DODGE) WHERE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT KEPT IT FOR A FEW DAYS, SAID THEY COULD NOT RECREATE OUR CONCERNS, CLEANED NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS, CHARGED US $500 AND RECOMMENDED WE CHANGE A "WIN" MODULE AT ABOUT $800 PLUS LABOR BUT COULD NOT GUARNATEE THIS WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. THE SERVICE PERSON EVEN ADMITTED IT COULD BE THE TIPM BUT THAT THEY COULDN'T BE SURE AND THE FIX OF THE WIN MODULE WAS THE FIRST RECOMMEDATION. HE ALSO ADDED THAT SOME COMPONENTS IN THE TIPM WERE LOOSE AND THAT THEY CHECKED AND CLEANED THEM ALSO AND THAT FOR ALL THEY KNOW IT COULD HAVE FIXED THE ISSUE. I INFORMED THEM THAT I COULD NOT AFFORD TO CONTINUE TO THROW MONEY INTO "TRIAL AND ERROR" FIXES AND TO JUST BUTTON IT UP AND GIVE IT BACK TO US. A WEEK LATER, IT HAPPENED TO MY WIFE AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME, AS SHE WAS PULLING OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, IT RE-STARTED ON IT'S OWN. WE CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BACK AND THEIR REPLY WAS THAT THEY RECOMMENDED CHANGING THE WIN MODULE. THIS VEHILCLE HAS 62000 MILES AND HAS BEEN REGULARLY SERVICED BY ME AND CARED FOR LIKE A BABY. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE OF USE OR ABUSE, IT IS FAULTY PARTS AND WE SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE. THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNABLE TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN DIAGNOSED WITH A BURNT OUT TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE DUE TO THE ALTERNATOR AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,000.
DRIVING 55MPH, BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON, THE ENGINE STARTS WHINING AND I START TO LOSE POWER AS I PULL INTO MY DRIVEWAY. CHECK MANUAL AND IT SAYS THE BATTERY LIGHT IS THE ELECTRICAL CHARGING SYSTEM. I GET OUT OF THE CAR AND SMELL AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. MANUAL SAYS TAKE TO DEALER FOR SERVICE. SERVICE CONFIRMS THE ELECTICAL BURNING SMELL CAME FROM A BAD ALTERNATOR. CHECK FOR RECALLS AND ONE JUST CAME OUT JULY 11, 2017 RECALL # T36 FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM I JUST HAD. I SEND RECALL INFO TO DODGE SERVICE AND THEY CLAIM MY VIN DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL. HOW IN THE WORLD DOES IT NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL WHEN IT IS DOING EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL WAS STATING?
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND I HEARD A "THUNK" THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL THERE WAS NO POWER. I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL THEN BACK IN TO DRIVE FOR IT TO WORK AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER ACCELERATING.
MY WIFE ALONG WITH OUR 4 CHILDREN WERE DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN OUR DODGE DURANGO LOST ALL POWER. ALL THE INDICATOR LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IF NOT FOR MY WIFE BEING A SAFE DRIVER GOD KNOWS WHAT COULD'VE BECOME OF MY FAMILY. CAR WON'T TURN ON SAYS THERE IS NO KEY PRESENT. WIPERS COME ON AND OFF, AC BLOWS HOT AIR, DOORS WON'T UNLOCK, RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF. IT'S VERY UPSETTING WHEN YOU THINK YOU'RE BUYING A QUALITY VEHICLE ONLY TO HAVE IT TURN OUT LIKE IT DID. MY WIFE HAS EXPRESSED THAT SHE NO LONGER WANTS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS SHE IS SCARED SOMETHING LIKE THIS MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN.
WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY TO SAN ANTONIO TEXAS AND WITH NO WARNING BOTH FRONT FENDER FLARES FELL OFF AND GOT CAUGHT WITH FRONT TIRES AND CAUSE WIFE AND CAR BEHIND US TO ALMOST WRECK.. RESEACHED PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT IT HAPPENNG ALOT. THIS CAN CAUSE A CAR CRASH IF CARS BEHIND YOU ARE HIT WITH FENDER FLARES BY SURPIZE.
