I TURNED ON MY CAR AND STARTED DRIVING AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON ALL BY THEMSELVES AND WOULDN'T GO OFF AS I WAS DRIVING. WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR AND TURNED MY CAR OFF, AND TURNED MY CAR BACK ON, MY WIPERS WOULDN'T COME BACK ON. IT HAS BEEN RAINING A LOT AND I HAVE NO WINDSHIELD WIPERS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE ALMOST HAD A WRECK WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR BECAUSE OF THIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS ENGINE STALLED APPROXIMATELY 1/2 MILE FROM THE GAS STATION. HAD TO COAST TO SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT POWER STEERING. PLACED ENGINE IN PARK, TURNED OF KEY AND RESTARTED. ENGINE RAN ROUGH HAD TO DEPRESS ACCELERATOR FOR ADDITIONAL GAS. ONCE RESTARTED ENGINE RAN FINE FOR THE REST OF THE TRIP. THIS SAME PROBLEM ALSO OCCURRED IN EARLY JANUARY 1/03/2015 AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. NOT ONLY IS THIS AN INCONVENIENCE, BUT VERY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC SCENARIOS. *TR
REFUELED VEHICLE NORMALLY. DROVE 1 MILE, WHILE TURNING CORNER THE ENGINE STALLED COMPLETELY, STEERING BECAME SLUGGISH. THIS HAS HAPPENING APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE TIME AFTER WE REFUEL THE CARAVAN. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS WE LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

I WAS PICKING UP A MACHINE IN GEORGIA, AND I HAD TO STOP AND GET GAS. I FILLED UP WITH GAS DROVE ONTO THE TURNPIKE AND THE CAR STALLED AND A TRUCK ALMOST HIT MY CAR AS MY CAR WAS COASTING TO GET IT OFF THE HIGHWAY. HE HIT HIS BRAKES AND SQUEALED UP TO MY VEHICLE. THIS SITUATION COULD KILL SOMEONE AND I READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE ONLINE. THIS HAPPENS ON EVERY FILL UP SINCE. *DT
OVER THE LAST SEVERAL WEEKS MY 2006 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH A 3.8 LITER ENGINE WILL STALL OUT SEVERAL TIMES AFTER REFUELING. IT WILL RESTART & STALL SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO RECTIFY ITSELF. ALL POWER ASSISTED STEERING IS LOST AND THE VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT TO STEER SAFELY. POWER BRAKING IS ALSO AFFECTED. THERE HAVE BEEN A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS WHERE I HAVE BEEN TURNING INTO TRAFFIC AND HAD THE VEHICLE STALL. ONE TIME I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN AND STAY IN MY LANE. ON ONE OCCASION I BREACHED THE LANE TO MY LEFT. WHILE TRAFFIC WAS TRAVELING IN THE SAME DIRECTION I WAS, ANOTHER MOTORIST HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING ME. *TR
AFTER FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS, THE VAN ENGINE RUNS ROUGH AND THEN STALLS OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST THREE TO FOUR YEARS. WHEN IT HAPPENED ON TUES, OCTOBER 7, 2014, I HAD JUST PULLED OUT OF THE GAS STATION AND WAS GETTING READY TO CROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR STALLED. I HAD TO QUICKLY PUT IT IN TO PARK AND RESTART. SCARED ME TO DEATH. AGAIN, THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST FIFTY TIMES TO ME. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CAN NEVER GET THE PROBLEM TO HAPPEN FOR THEM WHICH MAKES SENSE BECAUSE IT IS ONLY GOING TO HAPPEN AFTER REFUELING. *TR
VAN STALLS AFTER FILLING THE GRAND CARAVAN WITH FUEL. LOSES STEERING AND SPEED. *TR
THIS PROBLEM STARTED IN AUGUST OF 2014 BUT IT IS ONGOING AND HAPPENED AS RECENTLY AS MARCH 27, 2015. EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE GAS TANK ON MY 2006 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, THE CAR STALLS OUT WHILE WE ARE DRIVING. EVENTUALLY, WE ARE ABLE TO START THE VAN BACK UP AND KEEP DRIVING. AFTER THAT, IT DRIVES FINE UNTIL WE FILL UP THE TANK AGAIN. ONE TIME WE STALLED OUT AND THE VAN DID NOT START BACK UP SO WE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP. THE VAN STARTED BACK UP BUT THE ISSUE RETURNED AGAIN. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME WE FILL UP. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE. I BELIEVE IT IS RELATED TO DEFECT PETITION DP 14-002. WIPERS STOPPED WORKING DURING STORM IN JULY 2014 AND ONLY WORK WHEN PUT ON FASTEST SPEED NOW WHEN THEY DO WORK AND SOMETIMES WON'T WORK AT ALL. I MUST CONTINUALLY TURN ON AND OFF TO ACTIVATE. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT LOCK BY REMOTE KEY. DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE BY REMOTE KEY OR INTERIOR CONSOLE KEY. I BELIEVE THE SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND THAT SWITCHES ARE DEFECTIVE AS WELL. *TR

THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED AND THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE HAD NOT RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH IMMEDIATELY AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL FUNCTION. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DEFECT HAD OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS AND THE DEFECT ONLY OCCURRED AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROLL OVER VALVE INSIDE THE FUEL TANK WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,000.
REAR AC EVAPORATOR LEAKING.. I HEARD THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS, ESTIMATED COST TO REPLACE IS BETWEEN 850-1000, CAN YOU GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A PUBLIC ROAD AT 35-40 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. IT GOT PROGRESSIVELY SLOWER ON A LEVEL ROAD EVEN AS THE ACCELERATOR WAS APPLIED. AT THIS POINT I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL WAS CONSIDERABLY LESS THAN NORMAL AND THE PEDAL FELT VERY HARD. THE PROBLEM GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND CAR WAS BARELY ABLE TO LIMP HOME. IT FELT LIKE I WAS DRIVING IN DEEP SAND. I COULD NOT GO FAST ENOUGH FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO SHIFT FROM LOW GEAR. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS LIT ON THE DASH PANEL. AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT, IT APPEARED THAT THE CAR HAD RETURNED TO NORMAL AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. ON FIRST INSPECTION THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. I ENCOURAGED THEM TO CALL THE FACTORY FOR POSSIBLE ENGINEERING BULLETINS. AFTER THREE DAYS IN THE SHOP I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FACTORY HAD DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO A FAULTY BRAKE BOOSTER WITH THE COST OF REPAIR ESTIMATED AT $800. I HAD PREVIOUSLY EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM ABOUT 6-8 MONTHS PREVIOUSLY, WHICH HAD TOTALLY DISABLED THE VEHICLE AND IT HAD TO BE FLATBED TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. AT THAT TIME THERE WAS NO DEALER RESOLUTION SINCE, AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT, THEY COULDN'T GET THE VEHICLE TO REPEAT THE SITUATION DURING TEST DRIVES. I FEEL THAT IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON OUR LOCAL INTERSTATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A MORE SERIOUS SITUATION, PARTICULARLY IF THE BRAKES HAD BOUND UP TIGHTLY, AND IT MAY BE A SAFETY-RELATED ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. *TR

COMING FROM A CHRISTIAN CAMP DRIVING ON THE 5 SOUTH IN CASTAIC LAKE THE REAR RIGHT TIRE PART OF THE OUTER LAYER CAME OFF THEN IT WENT FLAT THIS IS TIRES 215-75R 15.I SHOW TO FIRESTONE THE TIRE THEY DID NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY ,THEN I HAD TWO MORE TIRES BLOWN IT WAS A TOTAL OF THREE IN LESS THAN A YEAR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. MA 08/11/15 THE CONSUMER STATED THE FAILURE CAUSES PHYSICAL PAIN AND ANXIETY TO OCCUPANTS. THE DOORS WOULD LOCK CHILDREN INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND RADIO WOULD NOT OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. WHEN THE FUELING NOZZLE TRIPS FOR THE FIRST TIME, I DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONTINUE ADDING MORE FUEL AND POSSIBLY OVERFILLING THE FUEL TANK. I HAVE BEEN CAUGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AT TIMES WITH THE ENGINE STALLING AND IT TAKES 2 TO 3 ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! NOW AFTER REFUELING, I PULL AWAY FROM THE PUMPS AND PARK OUT OF THE WAY AND ALLOW THE ENGINE TO STALL. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO RESTART SEVERAL TIMES, THE ENGINE WILL MISFIRE FOR ABOUT 30 TO 45 SECONDS, THEN THE ENGINE WILL SMOOTH OUT AND RUN FINE UNTIL THE NEXT REFUELING. STARTING ABOUT A YEAR AGO, MY 2006 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN ENGINE STALLS AFTER REFUELING, USUALLY WHEN MAKING A TURN, BUT SOMETIMES WHEN JUST DRIVING STRAIGHT. A FEW TIMES I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN SERIOUS ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF IT, THE MOST SERIOUS STALL OCCURRED IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. THE STALLING OCCURS AFTER ABOUT 90% OF MY FILL-UP TIMES. IT OCCURS ON THE FIRST DRIVE AFTER REFUELING BUT I DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. I CALLED DODGE AND SPOKE TO JARRED ON 3/2/2015 AT 1:00PM BUT HE WOULD NOT SAY IF DODGE/CHRYSLER HAS ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THE PROBLEM. HE JUST SAID THAT IT IS NOT ON THEIR RECALL LIST. I HOPE THAT THE NHTSA CAN PUSH DODGE TO CREATE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, WHICH I BELIEVE IS A DEFECTIVE GAS TANK OR PART OF THE GAS TANK. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM HIP PAIN. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CLEANED THE THROTTLE PLATE. I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN SE ON THE NIGHT OF I02/11/2014 WHEN A WRONG-WAY DRIVER HIT ME (HEAD ON COLLISION). SHE TURNED RIGHT TO GET GASOLINE (NOTE: NOT TO AVOID US, DID NOT KNOW SHE WAS GOING WRONG WAY UNTIL WE HIT HER), AND WE HIT HER SIDE DOOR, TIRE AREA, AND THE VEHICLE BOUNCED BACKWARDS. I HAD TO PUSH OFF THE STEERING WHEEL TO PREVENT MY HEAD FROM GOING THRU THE WINDSHIELD, MY FATHER WHO WAS THE PASSENGER, HIT HIS ARM OFF THE DASHBOARD. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH WAS THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, THEY LOOKED AT THE CAR AND SAID NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT AND THAT THE CAR WOULD HAVE TO BE CRUSHED FOR THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY, THE AIR BAGS HAVE BEEN RECALLED BEFORE, WHICH IS A CONCERN TO ME. WHEN LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE DASH BOARD, IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THERE IS EVEN A PASSENGER AIR BAG IN PLACE. MY BUMPER HAD DAMAGE, A LONG WITH MY HEAD LIGHT, ALONG WITH MY HOOD. I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 40MPH IN A 45MPH ZONE, AS WE WERE SLOWING DOWN AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN IT TURNED GREEN AGAIN I CONTINUED ON. WE HAD INJURIES OF OUR NECK AND BACK AS WELL AS THE DRIVERS LEFT FOOT, MY WRIST HURT FROM TIME TO TIME AND STILL SOMEWHAT DOES, FROM PUSHING OFF THE WHEEL.UPDATED 06/03/14 *BF UPDATED 06/06/2014 *JS

DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUALLY COMES ON FOR LONG AND SHORT PERIODS OF TIME. MOST CASES IT STAYS ON EVEN AFTER PLACING ON SEAT BELT. I BELIEVE THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. THIS WAS ON A PREVIOUS RECALL A FEW YEARS AGO AND CORRECTED BY THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, THIS WARNING LIGHT CONTINUES TO STAY ON FOR FIVE MINUTES OR MORE AND THAN GOES OUT. *TR
ANTILOCK BRAKE WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON FOR MORE THAN 8 HOURS SYSTEM WAS OFF LINE AND NOT OPERABLE. NEXT DAY WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THAN WENT OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES PLACING THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM OFF THAN ON AGAIN. I BELIEVE THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM OF THIS DODGE CARAVAN WAS/IS DEFECTIVE AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
MY SLIDING DOOR QUIT WORKING HALF WAY THRU CYCLE. MY POWER WENT DEAD IN DOORS AND LOCKS I TOOK IT TO THE DODGE DEALER THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM SAID IT WAS EITHER THE ECM OR THE BCM BUT NOT SURE. THEY DID NOT WANT TO REPLACE AS THEY WOULD JUST BURN OUT AGAIN IF THIS WAS THE PROBLEM AND STILL A SHORT SOMEWHERE IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I DROVE IT HOME AND NEXT DAY WENT TO START IT AND THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE BATTERY AND ABOVE THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL BURST INTO FLAMES BURNING THE ENTIRE MAIN ELECTRICAL HARNESS AND ECM AND FUSE BOX UP. TOOK IT BY TOW TRUCK TO DODGE DEALER AGAIN THEY SAID LOOKS LIKE WIRING HARNESS WAS WORN THROUGH WHERE IT WAS FASTENED TO THE FRAME AT THE ASSEMBLY PLANT. CALLED DODGE AND THEY SAID THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE SUPPOSE TO SEND AN INSPECTOR AND NO ONE SHOWED UP IT HAS BEEN OVER A WEEK AND NO HELP FROM DODGE OR THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR

TOOK IT BY TOW TRUCK TO DODGE DEALER AGAIN THEY SAID LOOKS LIKE WIRING HARNESS WAS WORN THROUGH WHERE IT WAS FASTENED TO THE FRAME AT THE ASSEMBLY PLANT. ELECTRIC LOCKS NO LONGER WORK FOR SIDE DOORS. CAN STILL MANUALLY LOCK/UNLOCK DOORS, BUT THIS INVOLVES REACHING AROUND FROM FRONT SEAT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE MY CHILD CANNOT MANAGE TO MANUALLY PULL UP THE LOCK TO UNLOCK THE DOOR AND LET HERSELF OUT IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. SIDE DOORS ALSO NO LONGER AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHEN REACHING DRIVING SPEEDS, WHICH IS ANOTHER SAFETY HAZARD RELATED TO CHILDREN. WHEN IT RAINS OR THE STREET IS WET THE POWER STEERING RANDOMLY GOES OUT. THE HAPPENS WHEN TURNING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, TURNING A CURVE OR GETTING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan. The contact stated that when the vehicle was purchased in 2010, the vehicle was missing the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. In addition, the vehicle idled roughly, jerked and stalled while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Auto Zone, where it was diagnosed with power train failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle was missing the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve. The contact was provided DTCs: P0403 and P0404. The vehicle was not repaired. In 2019, the vehicle was taken to a tire business and the EGR valve was installed on the vehicle. The failure was progressively worsened, and the vehicle was no longer being driven. Upon further investigation, the contact found information on various auto websites indicating that the vehicle was manufactured in Canada and imported to the United States. The contact was the second owner. The contact found information on other auto websites that stated that the EGR valve was removed from the vehicle, and it was removed in stages. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 122,000.
