OUR VAN HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE IN MOTION OVER THE PAST 2 WEEKS. THERE IS NO EARLY WARNING WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. IT HAS HAPPENED IN PARKING LOTS AT 5 MPH AND ALSO AT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WHEN IT STALLS, ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS STILL WORK, BUT THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES NO LONGER WORK. IT HAS NEVER FAILED TO RESTART. I HAVE SEEN ON NHTSA'S WEBSITE THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE SAME VEHICLES MADE BETWEEN AUG 2009 AND JUNE 2010, BUT NOT MY VAN WITH A BUILD DATE OF JAN 26, 2009. THE PROBLEM ON THE RECALL IS THAT THE WIN MODULE NO LONGER HOLDS THE KEY IN THE RUN POSITION, IT FALLS TO ON AND THE VEHICLE STALLS. I ALSO SEE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA'S WEBSITE FOR PRE AUG 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVANS BUILT PRIOR TO AUG 2009, SO I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE. THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED. *TR
THE FAB KEY FALLS OUT OF THE DASH. SOMETIMES KILLS THE ENGINE. THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM WAS JUNE 16, 2011 AND TO THIS DATE THEY STILL HAVEN'T EVEN STARTED TO FIX IT. WE HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF IT, BUT IT COULD HAPPEN AT ANYTIME. *TR
REAR BRAKES ARE NOT RELEASING COMPLETELY CAUSING THE BRAKES, ROTOR, BEARING, AND WHEEL TO BECOME SUPER-HEATED. DRIVER'S SIDE IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ISSUE. THE BRAKES MAKE A SCREECHING SOUND, SMOKE AND SMELL OF BURNT RUBBER COME FROM WHEELS. IF WATER IS POURED ON THE WHEELS, IT VAPORIZES IMMEDIATELY. IT DOES NOT DO THIS WITH EVERY TRIP, BUT IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. DRIVER'S REAR CALIPER HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND BRAKE LINE ONCE WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. BRAKES ON DRIVER'S SIDE ONLY LAST 11,000 MILES. HAVE CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER, BUT DOESN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY'VE HEARD OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE. I SEE MANY EXAMPLES SEARCHING THIS SITE AND OTHER SITES. A CORRODED VALVE STEM LET GO JUST AFTER THE LOW TIRE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. WE MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE BERM AND CALLED AAA. THE MAN CAME OUT AND PUT THE SPARE TIRE ON AND WE ABLE TO GET HOME. I CHECKED OUT THE OTHER VALVE STEMS AND THEY ARE CORRODED ALSO. *TR

DURING A SERVICE VISIT TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKES REPAIRED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR PREMATURE FAILURE, I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE REAR PADS AND ROTORS ALSO NEEDED REPLACED, WITH THE ADDITION OF AN ADAPTER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM THAT CAUSED THE PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE REAR PADS AND ROTORS. THE MANUFACTURERS EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER THE REAR. THE PADS WERE NOT WEARING EVENLY, THE INSIDE PADS HAD WORN TO THE WEAR INDICATOR AND THE OUTSIDE PADS WERE WORN TO ONLY 50%. ADDITIONALLY, THE LEFT REAR ROTOR WAS WORN AT A MORE SIGNIFICANT RATE THAN THE RIGHT REAR ROTOR. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE REAR BRAKE STAYED ENGAGED. OVERHEATED WHEEL AND BRAKE ASSEMBLY. THIS HAS OCCURRED ANOTHER TIME APPROXIMATELY 2,000 MILES LATER. SUSPECT TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WAS APPLYING BRAKING TO THAT WHEEL. BRAKE RELEASED WHEN VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. *TR
VEHICLE WHILE BOTH DRIVING ON ROAD AND IN PARK STALLS. IT GIVENS NO NOTICE OR WARNING THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. AT LEAST 10 TIMES I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS "MOVED" FROM THE "RUN" POSITION TO "ACCESSORY," BY ITSELF. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 3 DIFFERENT DEALERS BUT EACH HAS SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND AN ISSUE NO CODES HAVE BEEN COMING UP IN THE COMPUTER. I EVEN HAD IT STALL IN THE DEALER WHEN I PICKED IT UP YET THEY HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN IT STALLS THE STEERING WHEEL IS EXTREMELY HARD TO MOVE. I HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN IT STALLS ON MAIN ROADS IT IS VERY FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS TRYING TO CONTROL THE CAR, PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL OR PARK AND GET IT TO START OR TRY TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO RESTART IT! I HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER-DODGE CUSTOMER SERVICE, SERVICE MANAGERS ETC ALL TO NO AVAIL. I ASKED THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGERS IF THERE WAS ANY RECALL AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WASN'T ANY....I SEE ON NHTSA WEBSITE THERE IS ONE BUT IT IS FOR 2010 AND UP BUT THE 2009 VEHICLES ALSO HAVE THE SAME STALL PROBLEM! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN. THE CONTACT STATED THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT ERRONEOUSLY ILLUMINATED WHEN THE SEAT BELT WAS ENGAGED AND DID NOT WARN THE CONTACT WHEN THE SEAT BELT WAS NOT IN USE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE DEFECT. THE DEALER PERFORMED SOFTWARE UPDATES TO THE VEHICLE BUT NONE REMEDIED THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN MOTION AS IT SHUT OFF. THE STEERING LOCKED UP AS THI SHAPPENED, THEREFORE I COULD NOT EVEN MOVE THE VEHICLE SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *TR I HAD IT TOWED TOT HE DEALERSHIP AND THE WIN MODULE WAS REPLACED.
THE REAR BRAKE PADS ON THIS VEHICLE FAILED COMPLETELY AT ONLY 34,000 MILES. NO TATTLE-TALE COMPONENT WAS ON THE ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS, SO THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THE BRAKES WERE WEARING UNTIL THE BRAKE SHOES STARTING GRINDING ON THE ROTORS. WE HAVE NOTICED EXCESSIVE BRAKE DUST ON THE REAR WHEELS STARTING AT AROUND 7500 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. THE FRONT BRAKES STILL HAVE 60-70% WEAR LEFT ON THEM. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT 31,000 MILES, HE WAS TOLD THAT THE FRONT BRAKES WERE AT 45 PERCENT AND THE REAR BRAKES WERE ONLY AT 15 PERCENT. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. MULTIPLE PROBLEMS. WORST FIRST. HIGH OIL CONSUMPTION, MAINTAIN VEHICLE FAITHFULLY. AT APPROX. 70 K MILES THE ENGINE OIL LIGHT POPPED ON. CHECKED OIL. WAS NOT REGISTERING ON STICK. OVER THREE QTS LOW! ENGINE CONTINUES TO USE 3-4 QTS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES (3000 MILES). VAN IS ON ITS THIRD SET OF BRAKES. TIRES HAVE TO BE ROTATED VERY OFTEN BECAUSE THE FRONT RUINS TIRES QUICKLY. HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE KEY FOB TWICE. BOTH TIMES IT HAS LEFT US STRANDED WITH NO WARNING. VAN IS NOW IN THE SHOP FOR BAD MOTOR MOUNTS. GAUGE CLUSTER HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE. HEATER HOSE "Y" CONNECTION BLEW APART WHILE ON VACATION AT APPROX. 75K MILES. (ENGINE DID NOT OVERHEAT). VAN IS ON ITS THIRD OR FOURTH BATTERY. POWER SLIDING DOORS CONTINUALLY HAVE PROBLEMS CLOSING. POWER STEERING PUMP WHINES SINCE 15K MILES. VAN CURRENTLY HAS 91K MILES. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE IGNITION KEY, WHICH WAS EQUIPPED WITH A REMOTE TO LOCK AND UNLOCK THE VEHICLE, WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NOT START THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE KEY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 67,311. ..UPDATED 02/01/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE IGNITION WAS ALSO REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 417.84. UPDATED 02/10/12
THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT BRAKES AT 32,000 MILES AND NOW THE REAR BRAKES AT 34,900. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE CHRYSLER VANS AND NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES EVEN AFTER 60,000 MILES OR MORE. *TR
WE WERE ON A TRIP AND WHILE ON THE TRIP THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THE 36K WARRANTY. WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 75 MPH WHEN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A TERRIBLE VIBRATION AND VIBRATION NOISES. WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF ON AN EXIT WITHIN 1/4 MILE OF THE VEHICLE MAKING THIS NOISE. AFTER WE WERE ABLE TO STOP THE LEFT REAR TIRE SMELLED AWFUL LIKE SOMETHING BURNING. AFTER WE GOT IT TO THE DODGE DEALER THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE CALIPER HAD FAILED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THEY STATED THAT OUR VIN DID NOT MATCH THOSE VEHICLES HAVING THE REAR BRAKE ISSUES. OBVIOUSLY WE WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AS THE OTHER VEHICLES. CHRYSLER DID AGREE TO COVER THE FAILED CALIPER, BUT WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE WARPED ROTORS OR NEW BRAKES AND WOULD NOT COVER THE CALIPER ON THE RIGHT SIDE AS IT HAD NOT YET FAILED (EVEN THOUGH THE ROTOR WAS BADLY WARPED). THE ROTORS WERE ON BACK ORDER AND WOULD TAKE 3 WEEKS TO GET IN. WE WERE TOLD NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS A SAFETY HAZARD YET CHRYSLER WAS UNWILLING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND REPLACE THE RIGHT SIDE CALIPER AS IT HAD NOT YET FAILED. WE REPLACED THE RIGHT SIDE CALIPER AT OUR COST AND BOTH ROTORS AND BRAKES AS BOTH ROTORS WERE WARPED BADLY....FROM DEFECTIVE CALIPERS...BUT SINCE ONLY 1 SIDE WAS LOCKING UP AND SMOKING THEY WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE 1 SIDE. I DID NOT WANT TO PUT MY FAMILY IN A VEHICLE THAT COULD BECOME A FIRE HAZARD AND BELIEVE THAT THIS IS TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE OF CHRYSLER TO PUT PEOPLES LIVES IN DANGER AND NOT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE IT SINCE OUR VIN SUPPOSEDLY DID NOT FIT WITH THE VEHICLES THAT WERE DEEMED TO HAVE THAT PROBLEM. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTLY AND TALKED ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS BASICALLY UNWILLING TO LOOK UP ANYTHING NEVER OFFERED TO TAKE ANY INFORMATION FROM US (NAME, VEHICLE INFO), BUT YET WAS VERY EAGER TO DISMISS THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE. *TR
I TRIED TO AVOID HITTING A DEER AND WHEN SWERVING I WENT OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A TELEPHONE POLE AT 55 MILES AN HOUR. MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND I AM NOW OUT OF WORK WITH HERNIATED DISCS IN MY NECK. I HAVE 4 YOUNG CHILDREN THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT DADDY CANNOT PLAY WITH THEM! I WILL NOW FOREVER BE WORRIED IF I'M GOING TO MOVE WRONG AND BE PARALYZED! I'M SCARED AND SHOULDN'T BE! THIS VEHICLES SAFETY SYSTEMS SHOULD HAVE OPERATED PROPERLY! *TR

AFTER INSPECTION, HE NOTICED THAT THE HEATER HAD FRACTURED AND WAS CAUSING WATER TO LEAK ONTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE PART TO THE DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEATER HOSE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 73,866.
WHILE DRIVING I FELT AND ALSO HEARD A CLUNK, THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE DRIVING IT FELT LIKE MY CAR WAS STUCK IN 1ST GEAR (IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC/MANUAL TRANS). WE THEN REALIZED THE MANUAL WAS NOT WORKING, AND EVERYTIME WE PUT IT IN DRIVE THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE. NOW AS WE ARE DRIVING IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS STUCK IN 1ST GEAR LIKE THE MANUAL WENT OUT AND THE CAR THINKS IT IS STUCK, THE ENGINE REVS THE RPM'S GO UP AND THE AUTOMATIC KICKS IN BUT IT DOES NOT SHIFT RIGHT AND THE ENGINE DOES NOT STOP REVVING. SINCE I HAD THIS CAR I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES TWICE, THE BATTERY, THE WINDOW MODULE, THE WHOLE AC. THIS CAR IS COSTING MORE THEN IT IS WORTH AND CHRYSLER WILL NOT HELP WITH ANY OF IT. THE WINDOW MODULE TRANSMISSION AND AC SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT SO EARLY. *KB

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE TIRE VALVE STEM WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONFIRMED THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VALVE STEMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 12/27/12 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE ALUMINUM VALVE STEM LOCKING NUT CORRODED, CRACKED AND DISENTAGRATED. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH ALL THE SEATBELTS IN OUR DODGE MINIVAN PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THIS INCIDENT BUT UNTIL NOW WE HAD ONLY SEEN THEM AS AGGRAVATIONS. THE SEATBELTS TEND TO TIGHTEN SLIGHTLY AND WHEN TRYING TO LOOSEN THEM THEY WILL LOCK UP AND HAVE TO BE UNBUCKLED TO RESET THEM. SOMETIMES THEY WILL STILL REMAIN LOCKED UP EVEN WHEN THE SEATBELT IS UNBUCKLED. SOMETIMES JERKING THE BELT SEVERAL TIMES WILL FINALLY RELEASE IT. ON AUGUST 19, 2011, OUR 10 YEAR OLD CHILD GOT CAUGHT IN THIS FAULTY SEATBELT. ON A LONG OUT OF TOWN TRIP, THE CROSS BELT WAS BEHIND THE HEADREST AND THE LAP BELT HAD BECOME TIGHTENED. AS HE STRUGGLED WITH THE SEATBELT, IT GOT TIGHTER. ALL THIS WAS DURING TRANSIT. WE STOPPED AND HE UNBUCKLED THE SEATBELT BUT THAT ONLY MADE IT TIGHTER. HE IS A THIN BOY BUT IT WAS OBVIOUS HE HAD HIS GUT SUCKED IN AND THE BELT WAS PUSHING UNDER HIS RIBS. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND SHUT OFF. WE STRUGGLED WITH IT A FEW MINUTES TRYING TO GET IT TO RELEASE BUT IT WAS APPARENT OUR CHILD WAS IN DISTRESS. WE WERE JUST ABOUT TO CUT THE BELT WHEN WE DECIDED TO LAY THE SEAT AS FAR BACK AS POSSIBLE AND HAD OUR CHILD DO A SOMERSAULT OUT OF THE LAP BELT. OUR CHILD HAD BRUISES ON HIS STOMACH AND SIDE AND WAS SHAKEN UP AND SORE. WHAT WOULD BE THE OUTCOME IF HE HAD BEEN TRAPPED DURING A CAR ACCIDENT/FIRE? *TR

THE CONTACT CHANGED THE TIRE AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VALVE STEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD OPEN A CASE ON THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
REPLACED FRONT ROTORS AND BREAK PADS AT 23K, VIBRATING SOMEWHAT. DEALER AT THAT POINT SAID BACK BRAKE PADS WEARING DOWN, WILL SOON NEED TO REPLACE AND SHAVE BACK ROTORS. AT 26K, SHAKING ON DRIVERS WHEEL,VIBRATING BADLY WHEN BREAKING WAS DANGEROUS. NEEDED BACK BRAKE PADS AND NEW ROTORS, ROTORS WERE WARPED. MY 4TH NEW CARAVAN IN 2 DECADES WAS A REAL DISAPPOINTMENT! ALTHOUGH, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE FRONT BRAKES WERE ONLY $50 AND NOW THE BACK BRAKES $120 DEDUCTIBLE IS NOT ALOT, I SHOULDN'T BE PAYING TO REPLACE UNTIL 4-5 YEARS OR 40K-50K MILES LIKE OUR LAST 8 CARS! I GUESS IT'S BETTER THEN TRANSMISSION TROUBLE AT 50K ON MY 1ST CARAVAN. *KB
MY VAN TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING IT NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE THIS DATE. IT ALSO WONT START AT TIMES AND I AM STRANDED ANYWHERE FROM FIVE TO 30 MINUTES.POWER STEERING GETS STUCK SOMETIMES AND WHEN BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS THE WHOLE CAR SHAKES. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE REAR AND FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000.

WARPED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS: RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER OF EXTENDED WARRANTY ON BRAKES BECAUSE PADS AND ROTORS MIGHT NEED REPLACEMENT "EARLIER THAN EXPECTED". TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 1/28/11 AT 35,300 MILES AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. AT 44,000 MILES NOTICED FAINT SQUEAL. TOOK IT TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO FOUND THAT FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WERE SEVERELY WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC SAID THERE WAS WAS NO NEED TO REPLACE PADS, WHICH WERE FINE, AND THAT THIS WAS UNUSUAL BECAUSE THEY USUALLY WEAR AT THE SAME TIME. 2009 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN REAR BRAKES FAILURE AT 28,500 MILES.. WENT IN FOR OIL CHANGE AT 24K WAS TOLD BRAKES WERE GETTING LOW. AT 28,5K I WAS TOLD BRAKES WERE CLOSE TO METAL TO METAL. AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS ISSUED FOR FRONT BRAKES, I WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER THAT 15K TO 20K WAS NORMAL WEAR AND LIFE EXPECTANCY FOR THE REAR BRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE. I REFUSED REPAIR AND VEHICLE IS SITTING IN MY YARD NOT BEING USED. DRIVER'S FRONT TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR NUT CORRODED AND BROKE OFF CAUSING AN IMMEDIATE FLAT TIRE. THE ALMOST NEW TIRE (LESS THAN 25,000KM) WAS ALSO DESTROYED IN THE PROCESS OF BRING THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP. 2009 GRAND CARAVAN. WAS WASHING THE WHEELS, AROUND THE VALVE STEM AREA, WHEN THE VALVE SNAPPED OFF AT THE BASE OF THE VALVE CAP, RELEASING ALL THE AIR IN THE TIRE WITHIN 10 SECONDS. HAD THIS BEEN A PART FAILURE DURING A HIGH SPEED DRIVE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY ALERT REGARDING THIS DEFECT AND AN IMMEDIATE RECALL. I REFUSED TO PAY A $150.00 TIRE REPAIR , SO I OPTED OUT WITH REMOVING THE EXISTING PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM, AND HAD A GOOD OLD RUBBER VALVE STEM PUT IN, AND THE TIRE REBALANCED. EXTREME TOXIC HAZARD CAUSED BY FAILED FACTORY INSTALLED HEATER HOSE CONNECTORS. FULL INFORMATION AVAILABLE. 2000-2010 VANS, POSSIBLY A LARGE AMOUNT OF DIFFERENT VEHICLE INVOLVED. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE COOLANT SYSTEM. THE FIRST INDICATION OF ANY PROBLEM WAS A STRANGE ODOR THAT OCCURRED AT VARIOUS TIMES, INSIDE THE VEHICLE AFTER BEING INSIDE FOR A LENGTH OF TIME. I SEARCHED FOR OBVIOUS LEAKS, BUT THERE WERE NONE. IT SEEMED THAT CHRYSLER USED A MOLDED PLASTIC COMPRESSION TYPE HOSE FITTING IN THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS OF THEIR COOLANT SYSTEM, IN SOME VEHICLES. THE FITTING HAD ONE FLAW, AS I HAVE FOUND OUT, WERE MADE TO BE PUT TOGETHER CORRECTLY, THEY ARE KEYED, BUT, IF PUT TOGETHER INCORRECTLY, AS IN THIS CASE, IT ALLOWED LEAKING OF ETHYLENE GLYCOL COOLANT TO DRIP ONTO A 2200 PLUS EXHAUST MANIFOLD COVER, IN THE VEHICLE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, IN SMALL DROPLETS, THAT BECOMES A SUPER-HEATED VAPOR, WHICH IS DRAWN INTO THE VEHICLE VENTILATION SYSTEM, WHEN IT IS IN OPERATION. *JB ..UPDATED 12/17/13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IN THE MIDST OF DRIVING. ON AT LEAST 3 OCCASIONS AROUND 2011, I WENT OVER SMALL BUMPS GOING INTO PARKING LOTS AND A DRIVEWAY AND THE ENGINE STOPPED. IT WAS REPORTED TO CHRYSLER THEN AND A DEALER LOOKED AT IT. SINCE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, NOTHING WAS DONE EXCEPT SOMEONE TOLD ME TO REMOVE THE EXTRA KEYS FROM MY KEYCHAIN. IT SEEMED TO FIX THE ISSUE. IN THE PAST MONTH, THE ENGINE HAS NOT BEEN STAYING ON WHEN I START THE ENGINE. I HAVE TO TRY IT A SECOND TO TIME AND IT STAYS ON (NOT ALL THE TIME BUT SOMETIMES).
