THE MINI VAN ENGINE UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED OF 45 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND CONTINUED ON NORMALLY. THIS WAS A DANGEROUS CONDITION SINCE I LOST BRAKE AND STEERING ASSIST. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. THERE IS A 2010 DODGE IGNITION RECALL THAT EXACTLY DESCRIBES MY INCIDENT. HOWEVER THE RECALL ONLY COVERS MINIVANS BUILT BEFORE JUNE 17, 2010. MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT ON NOVEMBER 8, 2010. I BELIEVE THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO ALL GRAND CARAVANS BUILT IN 2010.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2010 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN, ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, I HAVE LOST ALL POWER LEADING TO THE INABILITY TO STEER. LAST EVENT, I WAS IN A ROUND ABOUT AND, SWITCHING INTO NEUTRAL, WAS BARELY ABLE TO PREVENT A CRASH. I HAVE NOTHING ATTACHED TO MY KEY FOB. THIS IS THE KNOWN IGNITION PROBLEM AND I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT CHRYSLER THINKS IT IS OK TO WAIT UNTIL AUGUST TO FIX THIS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I DO NOT HAVE THE MEANS TO GET A NEW VEHICLE AND WITH 2 YOUNG CHILDREN, THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. PLEASE FORCE THEM TO MOVE FASTER TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM!!

I WAS DRIVING APPROX 40MPH WHEN THE VAN SUDDENLY SHUT OFF. NO POWER STEERING, BRAKES, NOTHING. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A GAS STATION AND APPLY THE PARKING BRAKE. IT ONLY HAPPENED ONCE BUT NOW VAN IS NOT RECOGNIZING WHEN THE KEY IS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. DEALER SAYS ITS THE WIN NODE. I NOTICED THE RECALL OF THIS PART AND HOW IT HAS BEEN EXPANDED OVER THE PAST YEAR. CHYSLER SAYS MY VEHICLE ISNT INVOLVED IN THE RECALL BUT I HOPE SOMEONE LOOKS INTO IT FURTHER. MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT IN OCTOBER 2010 NEAR THE END OF THE MODEL YEAR. SEEMS VERY LIKELY TO ME THAT PARTS FROM OTHER FACILITIES COULD HAVE BEEN SHIPPED TO A DIFFERENT PLANT TO FINISH OUT THE YEAR'S ACTIVITY.

HELLO, I OWN A 2010 DODGE CARAVAN. SUNDAY APRIL 19, 2015 I WAS DRIVING TOWARDS LAS VEGAS FROM KINGMAN, AZ AT NIGHT WHEN SUDDENLY MY HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF. KEEP IN MIND I HAVE MY 3 KIDS WITH ME, AGES 8,9 AND 10. I TURNED BACK AROUND AFTER DRIVING OVER 40 MILES, USING ONLY MY FOG LIGHTS THAT PROVIDE 40-50 FEET OF VISIBILITY. I CAUTIOUSLY DRIVE HOME ALMOST IN THE DARK, MADE IT HOME AND GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM. LOOKS LIKE A TIPM ISSUE FROM WHAT I GATHERED. SO IN THE MORNING MY VEHICLE DOESN'T START. I CALLED MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER, THEY AREN'T AWARE OF A RECALL ON THIS AND HAS NEVER HEARD THIS BEFORE. ADDITIONALLY THEY WANT $110 TO TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. SO I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MARTIN SWANTY HYUNDAI TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR FREE, AND I SPENT $111 ON WHAT THEY SAID WAS A BAD POSITIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CONNECTION. WELL, GOT IT HOME, THE HEADLIGHTS WORKED AGAIN. NEXT DAY, IT'S NIGHT TIME AGAIN AND GUESS WHAT, NO HEADLIGHTS AGAIN! LOOKS LIKE IT WASN'T THE BATTERY CONNECTION, STILL HAVING THE FAMOUS TIPM M.O. THIS IS CLEARLY NOT THE FIRST VEHICLE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I SEE THIS IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT THAT DODGE AND CHRYSLER ARE SWEEPING UNDER THE RUG. SO NOW I HAVE A FAMILY OF 5 (SOON TO BE 6) TO SUPPORT, AND DRIVE AROUND IN MY FAMILY VEHICLE WITH NO HEADLIGHTS AND THIS IS NOT A RECALL YET WITH DODGE? I PURCHASE A 2010 DODGE CARAVAN FROM HOLT JEEP CAR DEALERSHIP JULY 2014 AND THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERS ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES DON'T COME BACK ON FOR A WHILE. THE LIGHTS BLINKS OUT AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING WHAT CAN BE DONE BECAUSE I REPORTED IT TO THEM BEFORE AND THEY. AS I BEGAN TO SLOW TO TURN/COME TO A STOP/VEER INTO TURNING LANE I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND WAS UNABLE TO STEER MY VEHICLE. I HAD TO PUT IT IN PARK TURN IT OFF AND START IT AGAIN TO REGAIN STEERING AND ACCELERATION ABILITIES. IT HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES SINCE LAST FALL BUT I DON'T HAVE THE DATE OR MILEAGE FROM WHEN THE FIRST 3 TIMES OCCURRED SO I STARTED KEEPING UP WITH MILEAGE AND DATE OF HAPPENINGS SINCE I LOOKED UP RECALLS TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. AT LEAST 1 OF MY 4 PRECIOUS CHILDREN HAVE BEEN IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME EACH AND EVERY TIME THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. THE DESCRIPTION OF THE RECALL FOR MINI VANS IN MY MAKE MODEL AND YEAR FOR THE IGNITION SWITCHING OFF MATCHES THESE INCIDENTS 100% BUT MINE DOESN'T HAVE THAT RECALL ON IT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ANY OF MY CHILDREN SOMEONE WILL BE PAYING BECAUSE OF A LAWSUIT. I'VE BEEN LUCKY EVERY TIME THE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN SLOWING DOWN. THE ONLY THING ON THE IGNITION HAS BEEN MY SINGLE KEY NOTHING HANGING FROM IT AND NO BUMPS WERE HIT. WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED, I WAS DRIVING 20 MPH IN A SCHOOL ZONE AND MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE VAN WITH ME. ALL THE ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTATION SUDDENLY TURNED OFF. THE VAN CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD, BUT THE TURN SIGNALS, DASH INSTRUMENT PANEL, WINDOWS, LOCKS, ETC. ALL FAILED TO WORK. I THOUGHT A FUSE HAD BLOWN OR SOMETHING. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PARKED, BUT THE VAN WOULD ONLY TURN PART WAY OFF. THE MOTOR STOPPED RUNNING, BUT THE KEY INDICATED THAT THE MOTOR WAS STILL ON. THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE, OR "OFF" PAST THE "ON" DESIGNATION MARKED ON THE IGNITION. THE KEY WOULD NOT RELEASE/COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. SINCE I COULD NOT GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, I TRIED TO START THE VAN. IT WOULD NOT START. MY HUSBAND CAME OUT AND TRIED TO JUMP START IT, THINKING IT MIGHT BE A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY. THIS WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. I HAD CALLED A LOCAL MECHANIC FROM THE CAR, AND WITH HIS HELP MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO GET THE VAN STARTED. HE DROVE IT TO THE MECHANIC'S SHOP. THE MECHANIC LOOKED AT THE "CODES" AND SAID IT LOOKED LIKE IT WAS UNDER RECALL. HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE KEY TO RELEASE AND MY HUSBAND DROVE THE VAN TO THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM THAT OUR VAN WAS PART OF AN IGNITION RECALL AND THAT DODGE WOULD HAVE THE PARTS REPLACED. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING MORE THAN TWO WEEKS NOW, AND STILL THE DEALER SAYS THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VAN. I TRANSPORT MY CHILDREN AND CHILDREN IN A CARPOOL. I CANNOT RISK THEIR SAFETY, AND I HAVE NO CAR TO DRIVE TO WORK. THE FIRST WEEK WITHOUT THE VAN, I BORROWED A CAR. I WAS ON VACATION FOR THE NEXT WEEK. THE TIRE VALVE STEM CRACKED,CAUSING THE TIRE TO DEFLATE. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME WITHIN A YEAR, DIFFERENT WHEEL THE FIRST INCIDENT. I AM GOING TO REPLACE ALL STEMS. BOTH TIRE STEMS WERE FOUND CRACKED AND LEAKING AIR WHILE PARKED. MANY ON LINE COMPLAINTS. NO RECALL BY DODGE YET, THIS IS A REAL DANGER TO THE PUBLIC. IF THE STEMS SHOULD FAIL AT HIGH SPEEDS COULD LEAD TO ACCIDENT. *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE ELECTRONIC IGNITION SWITCH HAS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE SWITCH FAILS TO START THE ENGINE AND THE SWITCH WILL NOT ROTATE TO THE OFF POSITION (WILL NOT TURN BEYOND ACC. POSITION). THIS IS A FAMILY VAN USED FOR MANY SHORT TRIPS, INCLUDING STARTS AND STOPS. UNEXPECTEDLY BEING UNABLE TO START THE ENGINE, AND BEING UNABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, REMOVE THE KEY, OR LOCK THE VEHICLE IS A SERIOUS SECURITY ISSUE AND A HAZARD IN SOME SITUATIONS. MY VAN, ON AT LEAST 5 OCCASIONS HAS HAD THE RADIO CUT OUT, THE WINDOWS NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN, AND THE WORST NO WIPERS, RADIO, LIGHTS IN OR OUTSIDE, HEAT, DEFROSTER FOR THE VEHICLE DURING A DOWN POUR. I TOOK MY VAN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE THE WINDOWS WOULD EITHER ROLL DOWN ON THEIR OWN AND THE SWITCH ON THE DOOR WORKED SOMETIMES. I PURCHASED A BATTERY FOR MY KEY FOB BECAUSE THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK ALL THE TIME. THE DEALER FIXED THE RECALL SWITCH FOR THE VENT WINDOWS, AND I WAS CHARGED $4.03, $400.00, LABOR AND TOTAL OF $179.56 IN PARTS. THEY DID NOT OFFER A LOANER CAR WHILE MY VAN WAS BEING WORKED ON. I HAD TO PAY 82.00 FOR A RENTAL. I HAD 3 QUARTERS OF A TANK OF GAS WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF, AND WHEN I GOT THE VEHICLE BACK IT WAS A LITTLE UNDER THE 1/2 MARK AND NO ONE OFFERED TO REPLACE IT. THE DEALER DID TAKE $200.00 OFF, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID IT BECAUSE I WAS A GOOD CUSTOMER. WELL, I DON'T THINK GOOD CUSTOMERS SHOULD BE TREATED THIS WAY. THE WINDOWS AND MIRRORS DO WORK NOW, HOWEVER; THEY MUST HAVE BROKE SOMETHING ELSE BECAUSE MY SIDE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK, THEY CHANGED THE BATTERY IN THE KEY FOB AND IT STILL DOES NOT WORK. I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WHERE AS THE FRONT WINDOWS WOULD GO DOWN 1/2 WAY ON THEIR OWN. I HAVE READ WHERE THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS ABOUT THE WINDOWS GOING DOWN ON THEIR OWN AND IT WOULD SEEM TO ME THAT THIS IS WERE THE PROBLEM STEMMED FROM. THE WINDOWS GO DOWN WHENEVER THEY WANT TO AND MOISTURE GETS IN SIDE THE VEHICLE AND CAUSES THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP BACK ON 3/13/2015 AND NO ONE ANSWERED AND I COULD NOT LEAVE A MESSAGE. I CALLED BACK ON 3/15/2015 AND SPOKE WITH A VERY NICE YOUNG LADY NAMED [XXX] AND SHE SAYS THEY WOULD NOT HAVE A LOANER UNTIL THURSDAY, 3/18/2015 EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR COMPANY. WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR?? I AM EXPECTING TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE $381.55. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT THIS WAS A FACTORY ISSUE AND THE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CHARGES, INCLUDING THE MONEY SPENT ON A RENTAL CAR.
