Was driving down the highway coming back from Orlando when my air bag light went off. Heard cracking in my head test and all of a sudden it expired and deployed and hit me in the back of the head and almost knocked me out. Made me dizzy and I had my kids in the car. This should not have happend if I was not in a car crash and dodge refuses to fix it. It was faulty without any warning. There are many people this has happend to and the had a extension back in 2024 and to repair them and I never received a letter
Passenger headrest airbag went off /exploded open while I was parking the van in my driveway. No one was sitting in the passenger seat so no one was injured. Yes, you can inspect it. I called dodge but they said there were no recalls. No one has inspected it. No warning lights.
As I was driving down the road, doing about 40-45 mph, the airbag in my driver's seat headrest deployed. I was jolted forward and suffered neck and back pain, as well as a headache. Due to the neck and back pain, I had to visit the ER and have a CT scan done. There were no lights on the dash at the time of this happening to indicate it was going to malfunction. This has not been investigated yet, as it happened over the weekend but I will be reporting to the manufacturer as soon as they're open as well.
Airbag light came on passenger side on door trying to see if it was recalled at all. No accident in this van is it supposed to do that. Was being getting the van worked on.
While driving, the driver's seat belt will randomly come unbuckled. It was only happening while turning and rarely, but is now increasing in frequency and happens while driving straight.
Sensor in the Passenger Seat is defective and will cause the Air Bag light to intermittently come on leaving the Passenger without Air Bags during an accident. ALL defects / warning lights dealing with AIR BAGS or any other SAFETY FEATURE on a vehicle, regardless of year, should be looked at immediately by Dealers when the vehicle is brought into the Dealership. These are MAJOR Safety Defects and if the Dealership cannot inspect / and safely repair the vehicle during that visit, then a loaner car should be issued to the vehicle Owner until the vehicle is repaired. Maybe this will help the OEMs make Consumer Safety a priority instead of maximizing profitability of a component by using cheap inferior products that may save .0001 cent per unit sold.
ACTIVE HEADREST DEPLOYED WITHOUT A CRASH. PLASTIC RETAINING SLOTS BROKEN. CAR WAS NOT MOVING. THIS IS THE SECOND ONE TO BREAK LIKE THIS AND I'M NOT HAPPY ABOUT HAVING TO PAY ANOTHER $900 FOR WHAT IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW
Seatbelt and buckle assembly caused the airbag light to come on indicating that airbags will not deploy in an accident.
THE DRIVER SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED IN MY 2014 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER CLOSER INSPECTION THE PLASTIC CLIPS THAT RETAIN THE METAL LOCK BAR (NOT SURE EXACTLY WHAT THIS IS CALLED) BROKE. THIS CANNOT BE DISENGAGED AND NEARLY CAUSED ME TO WRECK MY VAN. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NO RECALLS ARE IN PLACE FOR THIS. THIS IS INSANELY DANGEROUS.
WHILE PARKED HEADREST ON PASSANGER SIDE FRONT SEAT DEPLOYED NO IMPACT TO VAN.ONLY SEAT THAT DEPLOYED .
I PURCHASED A 2014 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN WITH APPROXIMATELY 60000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAD ONE OWNER BEFORE ME. AT AROUND 64,000 MILES, MY AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. IT COMES ON AND GOES OFF WHEN I HIT BUMPS, APPLY BRAKES, OR ACCELERATE AND SOMETIMES WHEN MAKING TURNS. ALSO WAS THE THIRD OWNER OF A 2002 MODEL CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRY THAT HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM DO TO A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING. NOW HAVE A 2014 GRAND CARAVAN WITH WAY LOWER MILES AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHRYSLER GROUP. I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE 2014 GRAND CARAVAN FROM AND TOLD THEM THE SITUATION AND THEY TOLD ME I WAS OUT OF THERE 90 DAY WARRANTY WHICH LED ME INTO MY EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED FOR THE VEHICLE WHICH CHARGES A DEDUCTIBLE OF $250. DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING AS THIS COULD BE A DIFFERENT PART FAILURE. HOWEVER CHECKING THE PRICES, A CLOCK SPRING FOR A 2014 DODGE GRAND CARAVAN JUST FOR PARTS COST AROUND $300 PLUS TAX. I AM NOW STUCK WITH A $15,000 VEHICLE THAT COULD KILL ME IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH DUE TO A FAULTY AIRBAG SYSTEM THAT HAS A POSSIBLY FAILING PART FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS MADE BY DODGE AND CHRYSLER GROUP AND HAS SOMEHOW NEVER BEEN RECALLED. THE ONLY RECALL THAT HAS BEEN MADE WITH THIS VAN WAS THE VENT WINDOW SWITCH WHICH WAS REPLACED. ALSO GOT A LETTER IN THE MAIL REGARDING A WARRANTY EXTENSION ON A HEADREST RESTRAINT HOWEVER THIS WAS NOT A RECALL. BASED ON A COMMON PROBLEM WITH CLOCK SPRINGS ESPECIALLY MADE BY DODGE AND CHRYSLER GROUP I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THAT DODGE HAS BEEN MAKING FAULTY CLOCK SPRINGS FROM 2002 ALL THE WAY UP TO 2014 AND POSSIBLY STILL DOES AS OF 2021. I WONDER HOW MANY DODGE GRAND CARAVANS / CHRYSLER TOWN & COUNTRYS OVER 60K-100K MILES CHANCES ARE YOUR AIRBAG LIGHT MIGHT BE COMING ON AND TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING. HAVE TO PAY OUT-OF-POCKET. PROBLEM MAY COME BACK.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED. MY SON WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT AT THE TIME AND LUCKILY WAS LEANING FORWARD AT THE VERY MOMENT IT EXPLODED OR THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DIFFERENT DESCRIPTION.
ON FRIDAY 9/4/20 WHILE DRIVING MY MOTHER HOME THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADREST EXPLODED SLAMMING INTO THE BACK OF MY HEAD! I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH ON TEXAS HWY 111 GOING EAST, NO COLLISION OF ANY KIND AND OUT OF THE BLUE IT EXPLODED.*DT*JB CONSUMER STATED SHE HAD A SEVERE HEADACHES, NECK, AND UPPER BACK PAIN.*JB
THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEAD RESTRAINT AIR BAG DEPLOYED WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN IN GOOD WEATHER, ON A SMOOTH CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH IN LIGHT TRAFFIC. THE FAILURE APPEARS TO HAVE HAPPENED IN TWO STAGES, A SLIGHT BUMP FORWARD BY THE HEAD REST, ALERTING MY WIFE, THE DRIVER, TO A PROBLEM. THEN WHILE STILL DRIVING THE COMPLETE FAILURE OCCURRING APPROXIMATELY TWO OR THREE MINUTES LATER, SMACKING MY WIFE IN THE BACK OF HER HEAD SMARTLY. AFTER STOPPING AT A CONVENIENCE STORE WE CONDUCTED A VISUAL EXAMINATION OF THE DEVICE WHICH REVEALED A SHATTERED, THIN PLASTIC BRACKET INSIDE THE HEAD REST. MY ASSUMPTION IS THIS BRACKET FAILED ON ONE SIDE AND CAUSED THE FIRST BUMP, AND THEN THE OTHER SIDE FAILED CAUSING THE SHARPER BLOW. THIS ACTION COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE CONSEQUENCES IF FULL DEPLOYMENT HAD OCCURRING ALL AT ONCE DURING OPERATION ON A HIGHWAY OR AT A GREATER SPEED.
AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON HAVE NEVER BEEN IN A CAR ACCIDENT AND IT'S NOT SNOWING WHERE I'M AT THERE'S NO REASON IT SHOULD BE ON AND WHEN I MOVE THE SEAT BACK AND FORTH THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF OR ON WHEN ADJUSTING THE SEAT. AND THE CAR COULD BE STATIONARY OR MOVING WHEN I ADJUST THE SEAT FOR THE LIGHT TO GO ON.
MY DRIVER SIDE HEADREST AIRBAG DEPLOYED WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. *TR
HEAD RESTS SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WHILE PARKED. *TR
Came out to vehicle to drive and noticed driver side headrest was deployed forward and came apart. The vehicle was not in an accident and there were no prior alarms or notifications on the dash system to indicate this would happen. Luckily the headrest didn't deploy while someone was driving. The Dodge dealer says this repair or replacement is not their responsibility. This issue has not currently been resolved.
