Power steering hose ruptured after a few days of snow and ice. I went to drive to the store but was unable to turn out of the driveway due to no power steering. I done some research to where I found out there was a recall for this same issue but evidently my VIN # isn't included in this recall as while as many others I have read about online. I think this needs to be looked into.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated that while reversing in cold weather, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. Upon inspection, the contact became aware that the power steering hose was leaking fluid and had detached. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V273000 (Steering). The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not associated with the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.
The steering locked up could not turn or straighten car out. All electrical things lights air conditioning gas light just went haywire and is still not working. The shifting system I guess is what u call it started slipping out of gear like going into natural or first gear and nothing else. Several cars had to serve to keep from getting hit at 70+ miles an hour and I had no control other than to hit the break on the freeway and pray. Accordingly to the Bob site there's so many problems I know the ones I've had I just didn't know I could let any one know that mattered. I've reported it today. The first time it slipped out of gear I thought maybe it was something I may have done as far as the electric it was Little things like AC works as it pleases airbags light up tire pressure ECT the gas light no longer moves stays on E unknown to exact dates
Power steering return hose ruptured when I started the vehicle after setting in sub zero temps for about a week. Found a recall for this same problem but my vehicle was not listed. I feel it should have been. Hope you can adjust the recall for this major issue.
The contact owns a 2009 Dodge Journey. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering assist failed to operate as needed. Upon inspection, the contact noticed that there was a cracked power steering hose located underneath the vehicle. The contact replaced the power steering hose; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 172,000.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 194,000.
I GOT THIS VEHICLE IN OCTOBER IT DROVE GREAT UNTIL A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. NOW IT HAS STARTED HAVING STEERING DIFFICULTIES LIKE IT PULLS TO THE RIGHT WHEN DRIVING.
MY WIFE DRIVE THIS VEHICLE MOSTLY TO WORK AND I AM AFRAID FOR HER TO DRIVE ANYMORE I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE CALIBRES THEY LOCK UP AND THEN I END UP REPLACING THE ROEDER AND THE BRAKE PADS THEY ARE ALSO THE POWER STEERING PUMP I HAD TO REPLACE AND THE HOSES FOR IT HAS BUSTED A FEW TIMES.I HAVE LUCKILY BEEN THE ONE DRIVING WHEN IT HAS DONE ANY OF THOSE THINGS. I'M AFRAID OF MY WIFE TO DRIVE IT ANYMORE. IT IS HER CAR.I OWN A DODGE DAKOTA AND LOVE IT,BUT THE JOURNEY IS A TERRIBLE MADE VEHICLE. I BOUGHT THIS DODGE JOURNEY SXT LAST YR 2/16/2018, I ASKED THE SALESMAN IF THERE'S ANY RECALLS OR ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR.. HE SAID ONLY NEED TO REPLACE THE REAR TIRES.. I CONTACTED A LEMON LAW LAWYER THE NEXT DAY AFTER GETTING THE TIRES REPLACED BC HE LIED TO ME, THE TIE ROD & BALL JOINT HAD TO BE REPLACED, ON TOP OF THAT I FOUND OUT THERE ARE (4) RECALLS ON MY CAR THAT WERE NEVER TAKEN CARE OF, SO DODGE CHYRSLER DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE FRONT/BACK AIRBAGS IN (MAR/APRIL)OF YEAR 2018.. I RECEIVED THE RECALLS TO MY PHONE, TO TOP THAT OFF I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN CASH OVER ($4,263.00), THE LEMON LAW LAWYER TOLD ME TO GO TO A WEBSITE TO GET THE HISTORY ON MY CAR I BOUGHT, IT WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON PASSENGER SIDE ON (10/18/2017).. I WAS LIED TO TOTALLY, I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BC THE TRANSMISSION STOPPED ON ME, MY SISTER RAISED $$ TO GET TRANSMISSION REPLACED, NOW HAD TO PUT NEW BRAKES/NEW BATTERY/NEW STARTER/ANOTHER NEW TIRE/ THEN THE HUB ASSEMBLY BROKE ALONG WITH THE SWAY BAR ARM, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS FAULTY & CAR STARTS BUT THEN IF I GO ANYWHERE & THEN TRY TO START TO GO HOME, IT WON'T START & THE FOB KEY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AS WELL.. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000.
MY CAR FAILS TO STAY STARTED WHEN STICKING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION.

THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AWAITING PARTS FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
POWER STEERING RETURN LINE RUPTURED ON A -20F MORNING. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND I LOST POWER STEERING. I DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL I WENT TO TAKE A CORNER. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE THE CORNER BUT CAME CLOSE TO HITTING A SNOW BANK. THE SPEED WAS LOW SO I HAD TIME TO REACT. AFTER THAT I BROUGHT IT TO MY LOCAL DODGE DEALER AND IT WAS REPAIRED. THE TOTAL BILL WAS 383.17. IT'S FUNNY THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL YET MINE ISN'T RECALLED. THE RECALL EXPLAINS WHAT HAPPENS AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPEND TO MY JOURNEY.

THE HOSE IS BROKE AND IT'S LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID AND IT'S HARD TIME STEER THE VEHICLE AT TIMES. OTHER 09 DODHE JOURNEYS HAVE BEEN RECALLED, BUT MINE, SXT AWD WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ACCORDING TO THE VIN NUMBER. I FEEL IT SHOULD BE AND THE HOSE IS STILL CURRENTLY BROKEN. I AM ON A FIXED INCOME AND THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY CHRYSLER INSTEAD OF OUT OF MY POCKET. IT IS HIGHER MILEAGE AND THE MOTOR IS NOT THE ORIGINAL BUT THAT SHOULD NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO ME. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT.
