I WAS SITTING AT THE APPROACH TO OUR DRIVEWAY WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WAITING TO ENSURE MY GRANDCHILDREN HAD SAFELY CLEARED THE DRIVEWAY AREA. WITHOUT WARNING, THERE WAS A SOUND LIKE THE CAR ENGINE REVVING UP, THE CAR STARTING MOVING/LUNGING FORWARD ON ITS OWN AND ALL ATTEMPTS TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO STOP THE CAR FAILED. I QUICKLY STEERED TOWARD A TREE IN MY FRONT YARD WHERE I CHOSE TO CRASH MY CAR IN ORDER TO STOP ITS CONTINUED ACCELERATION. THE CAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION IS UNKNOWN. IF I HAD NOT CHOSEN TO HIT THE TREE, THE CAR WAS HEADED FOR MY FRONT PORCH/HOUSE WHERE MY GRANDCHILDREN HAD GONE TO CLEAR THE DRIVEWAY AREA. A CONTRACTOR WORKING ON MY NEIGHBOR'S PROPERTY CAME TO ASSIST ME AND TURNED OFF THE CAR ENGINE. THERE WAS A STRONG BURNING ODOR/CHEMICAL SMELL PERMEATING MY CAR AFTER THE CRASH. IN SPITE OF THE IMPACT, MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. WE CALLED 911, THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND HE CAR WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION SHOP. REGISTERED A FORMAL COMPLAINT TO CHRYSLER CORPORATION THE NIGHT OF THE CRASH. *TR
THREE TO FOUR DAYS PER WEEK THE CAR WILL NOT START. TURN THE KEY AND YOU GET NOTHING BUT A CLICK. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 2 MONTHS AND IT HAS DONE IT SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING. HAVE HAD THE DEALERSHIP AND A PRIVATE MECHANIC LOOK IT OVER AND THEY HAVE FOUND NOTHING. IT SOUNDS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ISSUE BEING CORRECTED BY RECALL NOW. ALTHOUGH THIS VEHICLE, SO FAR, HAS NOT STALLED WHILE DRIVING THANK GOD. AM NOT HAPPY THAT MY "NEW TO ME" CAR IS SO UNRELIABLE.
RANDOM HORN HONKING. VEHICLE WILL START HONKING HORN JUST SITTING IN THE GARAGE OR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. TOOK TO DEALER BUT WAS INFORMED THEY NEVER HEARD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. AS BEING A VEHICLE TEST DRIVER FOR VOLVO VEHICLES I KNOW ABOUT UPDATES. I FINALLY GOT THE DODGE DEALER TO DO AN UPDATE THAT WORKED FOR A FEW MONTHS. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THERE WAS NO OTHER UPDATE. I INFORMED THEM I THOUGHT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. WHAT MORE CAN I SAY, I TOOK THE FUSES OUT SO THE HORN WOULD STOP HONKING. NEXT STEP LAWYER?
REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 25,119 MILES DODGE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE FRONT BRAKES ONLY. COST TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS IS $370.00 BRAKES SHOULD NOT GO BAD AFTER 25K MILES DODGE APPEARS TO BE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY FOR THE REAR BRAKES. *TR

PURCHASED VEHICLE DEC 2012, MAY 2013 HORN ON VEHICLE GOES OFF IN MIDDLE OF NIGHT, TURN CAR ON AND THEN OFF AND HORN STOPS. MAY 2013 DRIVING DOWN ROAD AND HORN STARTS GOING OFF. TAKE CAR TO STANELY DEALERSHIP MAY 29 2014 AND THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH HORN. HORN CONTINUES TO GO OFF, TAKE FUSE OUT OF FUSE BOX. JULY 2014 BATTERY WAS DEAD, REPLACED BATTERY JULY 2014. 2-3 WKS LATER BATTERY WAS DEAD AGAIN. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP IN GATESVILLE TX AND THEY STATED THE COULD NOT FIND WHY BATTERY WAS DRAINED. TOOK BATTERY BACK TO VENDOR AND WAS REPLACED. 2 MONTHS LATER BATTERY DEAD AGAIN, TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY RECHARGED BATTERY FREE OF CHARGE. DEC 12 2014 DRIVING CAR AT 6:20 AM 1 BLOCK FROM HOUSE CAR TURNS OFF GOING 30 MILES PER HOUR. HAD TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP PUT IN PARK AND CAR RESTARTED. DEC 16 2014 BATTERY IS DEAD, GO AND BUY NEW BATTERY AT WALMART. DEC 20 2014 DAUGHTER BORROWS CAR AND CLAIMS THE CAR SHUT OFF ON HER ON THE HWY IN TOWN GOING 40 MILES PER HOUR. JAN 20 2014 AFTERNOON AFTER PICK UP SON FROM SCHOOL, DRIVING 30 MILES PER HOUR AND CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. TAKE CAR INTO DEALERSHIP JAN 24 2014, MECHANIC CLAIMS MONDAY MORNING CAR BATTERY IS DEAD. TOLD MECHANIC EVERYTHING GOING WRONG WITH VEHICLE, THEY CAN NOT FIND WHY THE BATTERY IS DRAINING ALSO STATED THE HORN SWITCH NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY REBOOT TIPM AND THE WCM. PICK UP CAR 1/27/2015 TAKE BATTERY BACK TO WAL-MART 1/28/2015 AND REPLACE AND INSTALL. FEB 9 2015 PULL OUT OF DRIVE WAY AND GET ABOUT 100 FEET AND CAR SHUTS OFF, RESTART AND PROCEED. THAT AFTERNOON CAR SHUTS OFF ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK WHILE DRIVING 15-20 MILES PER HOUR ON STREET. RETURN CAR TO DEALERSHIP THEY STILL CAN'T FIND WHAT IS WRONG WITH VEHICLE BATTERY DEAD, THEY RECHARGE BATTERY. FEB 23 2015 BATTERY DEAD. TAKING TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC FEB 28TH. *JS

I BROUGHT MY 2010 DODGE JOURNEY IN 2012, ABOUT A YEAR LATER, THE CARE STARTED TO STALL WHEN ON STARTING. NATURALLY, WE THOUGHT IS WAS THE BATTERY, SO WENT TO THE DODGE DEALER AND THEY AGREED. TWO WEEK LATER, THE CARE WOULD NOT START AFTER MY SONS BASEBALL CAME. SOMEONE GAVE ME A JUMP, SO I THOUGHT THAT I GOT A BAD BATTERY. TOWED CAR TO SHOP AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE STARTER WAS BAD. SO APPROXIMATELY. $250.00 LATER I HAVE A NEW BATTERY. THE CARE CONTINUES TO NOT START. THE DODGE JOURNEY IS THE MOST UNRELIABLE CAR I HAVE EVERY HAD. IT IS NOW SITTING IN MY GARAGE, BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING AND THE CAR RAN HOT AND WILL NOT GO MORE THAN 30 MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE A CAR NOT AND CANNOT AFFORD TO GET FIXED. I AM TOLD THAT SOMETHING MAY BE WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION, BUT ONLY DEALER CAN WORK ON THIS SINCE THE TRANSMISSION IS BURIED UNDER EVERYTHING. FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS THE CAR WILL SIMPLY TURN OFF WHILE WE ARE DRIVING IT. SO FAR WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO GET THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO RE-START IT. I NOTICED THERE IS A RECALL REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, BUT IT SEEMS OUR VEHICLE ISN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I'VE TAKEN IT TO TWO DEALERSHIPS, BUT THEY CANNOT LOCATE THE SOURCE OF THE TROUBLE. I'VE CONTACTED DODGE DIRECTLY AND HAVE BEEN TOLD, AGAIN, THAT OUR VEHICLE ISN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND THAT WE CAN'T EXPECT THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR A PROBLEM THAT THEY CAN'T FIND THE SOURCE OF. BUT THIS PROBLEM ISN'T NEW AND HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED IN THE PAST - WHY DON'T THEY KNOW THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM? THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000. THE CAR TURNED ITSELF OFF WHILE IN TRAFFIC ON CARY PARKWAY. TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR BY REINSERTING FOB. IT TOOK 10 MINUTES OF REMOVING AND REINSERTING FOB IN IGNITION BEFORE CAR STARTED. IN THE MEANTIME, CARS BEHIND ME ALMOST RAN INTO ME. *JS

JUST LIKE MANY 2009 AND 2010 JOURNEY OWNERS, I TOO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE NOT TURNING OVER TO START. IT HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 2 DOZEN TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS AT RANDOM. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START 3 TIMES IN ONE DAY AND THEN THE PROBLEM WILL NOT OCCUR FOR ANOTHER WEEK. ONCE THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION AND I TURN IT, I HAVE BATTERY POWER, IT SIMPLY WILL NOT PUSH THROUGH TO ACTUALLY START THE VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY IRRITATING AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE FOR THE DEALER SO OF COURSE THEY WILL DO NOTHING FOR ME. I ALSO HAVE NOTICED THAT ON THE FREEWAY, WHEN GETTING ABOVE 60 THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS SHAKING WHICH IS QUITE TERRIFYING AND THEN IF I GO TO BREAK, IT FEELS VERY WOBBLY. AGAIN, NOT SOMETHING THAT I CAN REPRODUCE AT THE DEALER AND THEREFORE CANNOT BE FIXED. I LOVED MY CAR FOR THE FIRST COUPLE YEARS I OWNED IT, BUT LATELY IT IS NOT UP TO PAR AND WORRIES ME TO DRIVE WITH MY 2 KIDS IN FEAR OF THE UNPREDICTABLE STEERING ISSUE OR BEING STRANDED IF IT DECIDES TO NOT START AT ALL. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2010 JOURNEY USED. 2 WEEKS INTO HAVING MY CAR ONE NIGHT THE HORN STARTED BLOWING NONSTOP. THE HORN BLOW FOR 5 HOURS STRAIGHT. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. A FEW DAYS THE CAR WOULDN'T START. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHANGED THE BATTERY AND IT WAS FINE FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS. AND THE HORN STARTED AGAIN AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START AGAIN AND THIS TIME THE KEY WAS STUCK INSIDE OF THE IGNITION. THE KEY WILL STAY STUCK IN THE IGNITION FOR 30 MINS BEFORE IT COMES OUT. THE DEALERSHIP HANDED ME A PIECE OF PAPER SAYING THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN OUT FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BUT NO RECALL ON MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN STUCK OUT SO MANY TIMES WITH THIS CAR I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. I HAD TO TAKE THE HORN FUSE OUT BECAUSE THE NOISE GETS TO MY NEIGHBORS AND NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO STOP IT. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED I HAVE A CAR THAT I CAN"T DEPEND ON AND ONE NO TO HELP ME FIGURE IT OUT.
STOPPED AT STORE FOR A FEW MINUTES TO PICK SOME THINGS UP. UPON GETTING BACK IN THE CAR, IT WOULD NOT CRANK NOR START. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, IT STARTED UP LIKE NOTHING HAD HAPPENED. ISSUE HAS OCCURRED AGAIN ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. THIS IS A WALK-HOME CONDITION THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. ISSUE IS SIMILAR TO NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS FILED WITH NHTSA, AS WELL AS POSTED ONLINE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE STEMS WERE RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WON'T START. IT IS IN THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TODAY. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. DODGE CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. THEY HAVE BEEN TRYING BUT TO NO AVAIL. WE HAVE FIGURED OUT IF YOU WIGGLE THE GEAR SHIFT THE CAR WILL START AFTER A LITTLE WHILE. HOPEFULLY DODGE WILL CHECK THE SENSORS IN THE GEAR SHIFT DURING THIS VISIT. IT IS GETTING OLD HAVING TO KEEP TAKING THE CAR BACK IN THE SHOP. DODGE HAS BEEN GREAT WITH WORKING WITH US BUT WE STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE 2010 DODGE JOURNEY WE OWN HAS JUST BEEN ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER. WE DID NOT PURCHASE IT NEW, WE PURCHASED IT PRE-OWNED FROM THE DODGE DEALERSHIP. BUT WE HAVE PAID TO KEEP IT UP AND STAY AHEAD OF MOST PROBLEMS BUT THERE ARE SEVERAL THAT ARE REOCCURING AND NOTHING SEEMS TO MAKE THEM ANY BETTER. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WILL LIGHT UP AND WHEN YOU TAKE IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE FOUND WRONG WITH IT. THE BRAKES SEEM TO GO BAD PRETTY FREQUENTLY. WE ARE CONSTANTLY GETTING THE LIGHT THAT TELLS US THAT THE ESC IS DISABLED AND WHEN YOU TAKE IT TO GET SOMEONE TO LOOK AT IT THEY CANNOT FIND WHAT IS CAUSING THIS. IT JUST SEEMS LIKE WE ARE PUTTING MORE AND MORE MONEY INTO THE 2010 DODGE JOURNEY WE OWN. CONSTANTLY PAYING A MECHANIC TO LOOK AT IT AND FIX THE MOST RECENT ISSUE THAT ARISES FROM THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. WE CANNOT TRADE IT IN BECAUSE WE STILL OWE ON THE VEHICLE AND WE CANNOT AFFORD AN INCREASE IN THE PAYMENT. DODGE DOES NOT ADMIT THAT IT IS A DEFECTIVE MODEL OR THAT THERE IS ANYTHING THAT IS CAUSING THIS. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND THE HORN BEEP ONCE. A FEW HOURS LATER I WENT BEEPED AGAIN. THE NEXT DAY IT STARTED BEEPING CONTINUALLY, AND I HAD TO REMOVE THE FUSE TO STOP THE HORN FROM BLOWING. I REPLACE THE FUSE AND HAD NO PROBLEMS FOR ABOUT A MONTH. THEN WHILE ON VACATION IN MYRTLE BEACH THE HORN STARTED BLOWING NO STOP. I HAD TO REMOVE THE FUSE AGAIN. WHEN I REPLACED IT THE HORN STARTED BLOWING AGAIN. I HAVE SINCE REMOVED THE FUSED AND TRIED DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY. THE HORN STILL CONTINUES TO BLOW NON-STOP.

I HAVE HAD IT CHECKED TWICE NOW AND SUPPOSEDLY UPGRADED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, BUT AFTER A WEEK IT STARTED UP AGAIN. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2010 AND DID NOT HAVE TO CHANGE THE BRAKES ON IT UNTIL 2014 - NOW, I HAVE TO CHANGE ALL 4 OF THE BRAKES RIGHT DOWN TO THE ROTORS EVERY YEAR (ALL 4 PADS AND ROTORS CHANGED 2014, 2015, 2016 AND NOW 2017, WITH CALIBERS CHANGED IN 2016 AS WELL)! THERE IS NEVER ANY SQUEAK FROM THE BRAKES OR OTHER NOISES OR FAILURE TO STOP UNTIL ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE BRAKES GRIND LOUDLY WHEN USED AND THE VEHICLE REQUIRES A GREAT DISTANCE TO STOP.

IT IS NOT THE ALARM, IT HAPPENS WHEN CAR IS IN PARK WITH NO ONE AND NOTHING IN THE CAR OR AS YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, WITH HANDS ON THE RIM OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE IGNITION SWITCH IN THE CAR GETS "LOOSE" OVER TIME. THIS CAUSES THE KEY TO MOVE TO A DIFFERENT POSTION, WHEN THIS HAPPENS ALL ELECTRICAL GOES OUT OR GOES ON/OFF IN RAPID SUCCESSION. I CAN JIGGLE THE KEY AND CAN GET THE ELECTRICAL TO WORK AGAIN. AT BEST, THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING AND I TAKE MY EYES OFF THE ROAD. I WAS TRAVELING APPROX. 65 MPH AND WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING SO BAD I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER TELLS ME IT IS CAUSED BY WORN BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE BRAKES WERE CHANGED AT 8600 MILES, AND THE CURRENT BRAKES HAVE APPROX. 18000 MILES.THE THE DEALER TELLS ME THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM UNLESS I PAY FULL PRICE FOR EQUIPMENT PLUS LABOR. WHEN THEY FINALLY FIXED AND RETURNED IT WAS FINE FOR ABOUT A WEEK BUT THEN THE HORN STARTED HONKING FOR NO REASON AGAIN. BY THE TIME THE TOW TRUCK GOT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IT HAD STOPPED AND THE MECHANICS COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE, HOWEVER NOW IT HAS STARTED AGAIN. I THEN HEARD ABOUT THE TIPM ISSUE WITH THE CHRYSLER MODELS AND IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH MY VEHICLE MAY BE SHOWING SIGNS OF THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS ADVISED TO MAKE A REPORT HERE.
