2010 DODGE JOURNEY ONE OF THE PISTONS KEEPS MIS-FIRING AND THE CAR SHAKES BADLY AT MEDIUM SPEEDS (55-70). WILL BE SECOND TIME TAKING CAR IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAYS SPEEDS AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, HE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKES WOULD SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT, REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,000. REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED TO 24000 MILES. DEALER THINKS THAT THE ABS SYSTEM IS KICKING IN AND THAT IS WHAT'S CAUSING IT. THEY BELIEVE THERE IS NO PROBLEM. UPDATED 09/29/2011 *LN *TR
WENT ON A VACATION TO YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK. ALL THE WAY OUT HAD INTERMITENT PULSATION OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. FRONT DISCS AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED BY DEALER AT 11921 MILES BECAUSE OF WARPED ROTORS.AFTER MANY MORE COMPLAINTS OF PULSATIONS WHEN BRAKING THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR DISCS AND PADS AT 23184 MILES, ACCOUNT WARPED ROTORS. SO AFTER 6 1/2 MONTHS ( OCTOBER 10 ) THE FRONT ROTORS WERE WARPED AND 10 MONTHS LATER ( AUGUST 8, 2011 ) THE REAR ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE PULSATION HAS HAPPENED AGAIN ALREADY AND IT IS ONLY AUGUST 22 2011.EACH TIME I TAKE THE CAR IN FOR THE PULSATION PROBLEM THE DEALER SAYS HE TAKES IT FOR A RIDE AND FINDS NO PROBLEM. EACH TIME IT HAS HAD THE SAME MILEAGE IN AS THE MILEAGE OUT. I DON'T THINK THE DEALER EVEN TOOK IT FOR A RIDE BECAUSE HE ALREADY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS.
RECEIVED RECALL FOR BRAKES. I WAS CHARGED $50 BUT BRAKES WERE REPLACES FOR FREE, SO I WAS TOLD. THE ROTORS WERE REWORKED AT THAT TIME ALSO. CONTINUED PROBLEMS TO THIS DAY. BRAKES IN FRONT HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND BACK BRAKES TWICE. EACH TIME I TOOK CAR BACK WITH COMPLAINTS I WAS TOLD I NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. TOOK AUTO TO AN OUT OF STATE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ROTOR WAS WARPED. I HAVE HEARD RUMORS TO THE EFFECT THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THE LOAD IS TOO HEAVY FOR BASE. DID CHRYSLER KNOW THIS AND STILL TRYING TO SELL A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT? I WOULD LIKE TO BE COMPENSATED.
PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR 2009 DODGE JOURNEY. *TR
VEHICLE POWERS OFF WHILE IT'S BEING DRIVEN. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, MY WIFE WAS PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES SINCE THEN. WHAT I MEAN BY POWER OFF IS, YOU HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL OR PARK TO RESTART IT. I CAN'T DUPLICATE THIS NOR CAN CHYRSLER'S REPAIR PERSONNEL. IT'S SCARY BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHEN THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. CHRYSLER UPDATED THE SOFTWARE IN OCTOBER 2010, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED TWICE SINCE THEN. IT'S AT THE DEALERSHIP AS I FILE THIS REPORT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY . THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED AND HE WAS THEN ABLE TO COAST ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE CONTACT TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN BLUE SMOKE WAS UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. IT WAS DIFFICULT FOR THE CONTACT TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE SINCE THE ELECTRONIC LOCKS FAILED TO OPEN THE DOORS. THE CONTACT WAS ONLY ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE BY ENGAGING THE SMART KEY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE STARTER WAS MELTING AND THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF GAS . THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWO ADDITIONAL TIMES AT A LOW MILEAGE PRIOR THIS INCIDENT. THE STARTER WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1012.
BRAKES AND ROTORS WARPED TOOK TO DODGE THEY TOLD ME NOT THEIR PROBLEM. SO WE FIXED OURSELVES COST AROUND $250.00. I NOW HAVE 40000 MILES AND JUST PUT ON THE 4TH SET OF ROTORS AND BRAKES. DODGE NEEDS TO FIX THIS CAR IT IS UNSAFE I CANNOT AFFORD TO TRADE IT. *TR
I OWN A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. WHENEVER THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED AND THE CAR'S SPEED INCREASES TO A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY FIVE MILES PER HOUR OVER THE CRUISE CONTROL SETTING, WHEN YOU ARE TRAVELING DOWNHILL, FOR EXAMPLE, THE CAR WILL VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFT AND THE ENGINE'S RPMS WILL RISE TO OVER 5000 RPMS UNLESS YOU DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE DOWNSHIFT IS VIOLENT AND COULD RESULT IS A LOSS OF CONTROL IF YOU ARE ON A LESS THAN A CLEAR, DRY ROAD SURFACE. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ISSUE WAS KNOWN BUT NO FIX WAS AVAILABLE. I WAS TOLD NOT TO USE THE CRUISE CONTROL UNLESS THERE WERE DRY DRIVING CONDITIONS. MY CONCERN IS THAT THERE MAY BE HIDDEN DAMAGE DONE TO THE CAR DUE TO THE VIOLENT NATURE OF THE SHIFTING AND I MAY LOSE CONTROL, EVEN ON DRY SURFACES AS THE SHIFTING IS SURPRISING AND VIOLENT. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT BOTH DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE ENGINE WOULD RESTART INDEPENDENTLY. I PARKED LIKE NORMAL THEN IT STARTED HOOTING RANDOMLY, ALSO HAS AN ISSUE WITH BREAK LIGHTS NOT WORKING RANDOMLY FOUND OUT LATER ITS THE BREAK SWITCH MALFUNCTION, THE HOOTING WAS ALSO ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
2010 DODGE JOURNEY STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING IT DEALER SAYS HE HAS VIEW IT WHEN IT HAPPEN.....I SEE THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS CONDITION AND DODGE IS DOING NOTHING TO FIX IT #2 THIS CAR HAS FOUR COMPLETE BRAKE JOBS ON IT IN ITS FIRST 10,000 MILES BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AND CALIPERS I FEEL THE CAR SHAKE WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A CAR NEEDING THIS DONE IN IT 1ST 10,000 MILES ONCE AGAIN I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS OUT THERE. *TR
I PURCHASED A NEW DODGE JOURNEY IN APRIL 2010. I HAVE HAD THE ROTORS REPLACED IN MAY 2010, APRIL 2011, JUNE 2012, JULY 2013, AND THE ROTORS NEED REPLACE ONCE AGAIN. THIS IS FIVE TIMES IN FOUR YEARS! THE CAR HAS ABOUT 43,000. I PAID LAST APRIL 2014 TO HAVE THE REAR BRAKES REPLACED AND THE BACK ROTORS RE-SURFACED. PLUS I REPLACED THE TIRES WHICH WERE $1200.00. THE WORST PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING IS THE TOTAL LOSS OF ELECTRONICS WHEN WE HIT A BUMP. THE LIGHTS, HEAT/AIR, ALL ELECTRONICS GO OUT. MY FEAR IS THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE AIR BAGS DON'T WORK EITHER. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH HOW THE KEY FOB FITS INTO THE DASH BOARD. I'M NOT ABLE TO TRADE VEHICLES AT THIS POINT. I FEEL LIKE THIS CAR IS GOING TO MAKE ME GO BANKRUPT. I FEAR THAT THE BRAKES/ROTORS WILL FAIL OR THE ELECTRONIC ISSUE WILL CAUSE ME TO WRECK WITH MY LITTLE GIRL IN THE CAR. WHAT CAN I DO? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY SXT. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 50-55 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE RPMS INCREASED UP TO 400 RPMS EXCESSIVELY. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO BEGAN TO SHIFT INTO A LOWER GEAR. WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DEACTIVATED THE VEHICLE PERFORMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE MULTIPLE FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. WHILE TRAVELING 3 MPH IN REVERSE, A GRINDING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE BRAKES. THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED AS THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 25-30 MPH AND THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION AS THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 25 MPH, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE AGAIN BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE FOURTH FAILURE OCCURRED AS THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 25 MPH AND A BURNING SMELL EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AS THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE ABNORMALLY. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH AND THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE AFTER THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER EIGHT TIMES. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES AND BOTH ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SENSOR, AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER SIDE HUB AND BEARINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE REAR BRAKES AND REAR CALIPERS WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,389 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,550.
THE TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT FROM PARK INTO DRIVE WITH A LOUD CLANG AND JERK. THIS OCCURS WHEN YOU PULL UP AND STOP, TURN MOTOR OFF, RESTART AND PUT INTO DRIVE. THEN AT OTHER TIMES HESITATES TO SHIFT. BRAKES WILL PUSH THEMSELVES DOWN WITH NO PRESSURE GIVEN BY DRIVER. FRONT END ON UNEVEN PATCHES OF ROADWAY WILL THUMP AS THOUGHT IT IS LOOSE AND WOBBLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENGINE SHUT DOWN. I QUICKLY PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTARTED. WHEN I CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THEY HAD ME BRING THE CAR IN BUT WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR OVER A WEEK AND NO ONE WAS ABLE TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN. THERE IS ALSO A SECONDARY ISSUE. WHEN YOU INITIALLY GO TO START THE CAR IT WILL NOT START THE FIRST TIME. IT WILL HOWEVER START THE SECOND TIME. AGAIN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER THAT SAME AFTERNOON I HAD STOPPED AT THE STORE AND WHEN I WENT TO START THE CAR IT DID NOT START THE FIRST TIME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH DOWNHILL WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED, THE CONTACT NOTICED A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE ROTORS WERE TURNED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD BE REPAIRED AGAIN AT HIS EXPENSE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HIM TO SPEAK WITH THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 9,300.
VEHICLE IS 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. IT ONLY HAS ABOUT 23,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN BRAKE, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VERY BADLY. I'M AFRAID THAT THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO GO OUT. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME I BRAKE. THE VEHICLE WILL BE GOING INTO THE SHOP. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON SUCH A NEW VEHICLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED AND THE STEERING WHEEL CONTINUED TO SHAKE WHEN THE BRAKE WAS ENGAGED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. WHENEVER THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 55,938. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2,500.
VEHICLE HAS HAD 3 RECALLS REPLACED THROUGH TIME. THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE. I HAVE BROUGHT IN FOR STEERING WHEEL SHAKING, TO WHEELS SOUNDING LIKE METAL GRINDING TO NOW A SCREECHING HIGH PITCHED NOISE. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD ALL WAS WELL. AGAIN LOUDER SCREECHING AND THE NOISE ISN'T A CONSISTENT NOISE ALL THE TIME SO ITS HARD FOR ME TO SHOW THE PROBLEM LET ALONE PIN POINT WHAT'S GOING ON. A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL INSIDE THE CAR TURNED OFF WHILE I WAS CROSSING A BRIDGE. IT SCARED ME HALF TO DEATH. AND EVEN NOW WITH MY LITTLE GIRL AND I IN THE CAR I AM SCARED AT TIMES TO DRIVE NOT KNOWING WHAT TO EXPECT OR WHAT ELSE COULD GO WRONG. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. FAULTY BRAKE SYSTEM; PENDING 3RD REPAIR TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM; CAR SHAKES WHEN BRAKING AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE; DEALER FIX IS TO REPLACE ROTORS & PADS WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS LEADING TO CONTINUED UNSAFE CONDITIONS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHOOK AND STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH TIME, A DIFFERENT TROUBLE CODE WAS GIVEN. THE DEALER CORRECTED THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE CODE BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND THE CODES CONTINUED TO CHANGE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE COMPUTER AND PANEL BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,500.
WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY OVER TO START THE VEHICLE IT DOESN'T START IT JUST CLICKS, IN THE BEGINNING IT HAPPENED AT RANDOM WEEKS TO MONTHS BETWEEN THE WON'T START EARLIER PERIOD. I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER AT FIRST OIL CHANGE ABOUT TWO MONTHS FROM PURCHASE AND THEY PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER AND STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY ATTRIBUTED IT MY NOT HAVING TURNED IT OVER FULLY, OR WASN'T IN GEAR FULLY, ETC.. BECAUSE THE COMPUTER SHOWS NOTHINGS WRONG. THIS WENT ON TO NO AVAIL WITH CONSTANT COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALER. THEY WOULD PROVIDE A RENTAL KEEP IT FOR A MONTH SAY IT FAILED TO DUPLICATE AND SEND IT HOME. ONCE I PLAYED MUSICAL PART REPLACEMENT BASED ON EDUCATIONAL AND UNEDUCATIONAL GUESS WORK, I HAVE REPLACED THE KEY, BATTERY, STARTER, IGNITION MODULE AS WELL AS A WIND MODULE. DESPITE THE FACT THAT NONE OF THESE ITEM'S SHOWED DEFECTIVE. I WAS PACIFIED UNTIL MY VEHICLE REACHED 99,6?? MILES THEN TOLD WE JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE PART TO GO OUT AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL REGISTER WHAT'S DEFECTIVE. WHEN IT ACTUALLY HAD BUT DIDN'T SHOW ANYTHING WRONG. THEY PAID FOR RENTALS FOR OVER A YEAR MAKING ME PICK UP MY CAR AND RETURN THE RENTAL UNTIL IT DOES IT AGAIN, AS THEY COULD ONLY AUTHORIZE RENTALS ONE MONTH AT A TIME. THIS CONTINUED FOR OVER A YEAR THEN ONCE MY CAR MADE 100,000 MILES THE DEALER STATED IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, IT WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO IT COULD NOT BE FIXED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY ARE WORKING WITH FOWLER DODGE(DEALER) WHO STATES THEY ARE OUT OF OPTIONS. THIS VEHICLE IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND CAN NOT BE FIXED. THE DEALER WAS AWARE IN THE VERY BEGINNING AND FAILED TO RECALL THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. I'M NOW AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM CHRYSLER CASE MANAGER WHO STATES IS GOING TO GET CORPORATE INVOLVED, PLEASE HELP! PS. I'M STILL IN RENTALS AT THEIR EXPENSE. *TR
I AM SENDING VIA U.S. MAIL A COPY OF LETTER AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT RECORD FOR PROBLEM WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON MY A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY THAT I PURCHASED THREE MONTHS AGO. AT THIS TIME ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THERE IS "NO FIX" FOR THIS PROBLEM AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THE MALFUNCTION COULD LEAD TO INJURY TO MYSELF OR OTHERS. A DETAILED LETTER IS IN THE MAIL AND SHOULD ARRIVE AT YOUR FACILITY LATER THIS WEEK. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE DRIVING DOWN AN INCLINE. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DOWNSHIFT AND THE ENGINE REVVED WITH THE RPM'S RISING TO 2500-4000 AND WOULD PROBABLY GO HIGHER IF THE CONSUMER DID NOT DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND STEP ON THE BRAKE TO GET THE RPM'S DOWN AND THE ENGINE UNDER CONTROL. THE VEHICLE SOUNDED AS THOUGH IT WAS IN NEUTRAL . THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED TO NOT USE THE CRUISE CONTROL ON HILLY AREAS. UPDATED 04/12/10.*JB
2010 DODGE JOURNEY, WHILE RETURNING THIS VEHICLE TO THE RENTAL OFFICE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED. BOTH HAD BEEN GOING ABOUT 5 MPH AND WERE ABOUT 35 TO 40 FEET APART WHEN THE DODGE JOURNEY ENGINE STARTED TO RACE AND THE VEHICLE IN FRONT WAS STRUCK, WOULD NOT STOP EVEN THOUGHT THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. AFTER THE ACCIDENT WHILE THE FRONT SEAT PERSONS WERE OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE LOOKING AT THE DAMAGE ON BOTH VEHICLES THE DODGE ENGINE STARTED TO RACE AGAIN WITH NO ONE IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, IT WAS SHUT OFF AT THIS POINT. AFTER NAMES AND SO FORTH WERE EXCHANGED [ BOTH VEHICLES WERE RENTALS] THE DODGE WAS RESTARTED AND RAN FINE INTO THE RETURN AREA. WHILE THEY WERE CHECKING IT IN AND THE VEHICLE RETURN AGENT WAS SHOWN THE DAMAGE HE WENT OVER TO CHECK THE GAS LEVEL. UNDERSTAND, AGAIN AT THIS TIME THERE WAS NO ONE INSIDE THE RENTAL VEHICLE AT ALL. EVERYONE WAS OUTSIDE STANDING AROUND. AS THE CAR RENTAL AGENT STARTED TO LOOK INSIDE THE ENGINE STARTED RACING AGAIN, IN FACT HE ACTUALLY JUMPED BACK AND I REACHED IN AND SHUT IT DOWN. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE INSURANCE PEOPLE AND AFTER SEVERAL CALLS THE FINALLY SAID THAT THE RENTAL COMPANY HAD INSPECTED THE CAR BY TAKING IT TO A DEALER WHO LOOKED AT THE ENGINE AND TEST DROVE IT AND NOTHING HAPPENED SO THE VEHICLE WAS ALRIGHT. THE AGENT WHO CHECKED IT IN WAS NEVER CONTACTED AND NONE OF THE PEOPLE IN EITHER VEHICLE WERE ASKED ABOUT THE ENGINE RACING. I UNDERSTAND THAT FOR AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING 6 OR 7 THOUSAND DOLLARS THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE A CAR APART BUT IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS A BOX THAT CAN TELL WHAT WAS GOING ON JUST PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. THE INSPECTION WAS DONE BY A DEALERSHIP AT A COST OF $105.00 SO IT WAS NOT EXTREMELY WELL INSPECTED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 DODGE JOURNEY. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN SITTING UPRIGHT IN THE DRIVERS SEAT, THE HEAD REST WOULD PUSH HIS HEAD SO FAR FORWARD THAT HIS CHIN WOULD REST ON HIS CHEST. THE CONTACT ALSO COULD NOT REST HIS SHOULDERS AGAINST THE SEAT. THE PASSENGER SEAT DID NOT HAVE THE SAME FAILURE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT HE COULD READJUST THE HEADREST BUT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DO SO, THE HEAD REST WOULD ONLY MOVE FORWARD AND BACKWARD. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO ADJUST THE HEADREST WHERE THE CONTACTS CHIN WAS NOT ON HIS CHEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000.
2010 DODGE JOURNEY. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH BRAKES AND ROTORS *TGW A FEW DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, IT NOTICEABLY SHOOK WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED GOING DOWN A HILL. THE SHAKING WAS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THE DEALER STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG AND THEY DECLINED TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS. AFTER TWO MONTHS OF COMPLAINING, THE DEALER FINALLY CONFIRMED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS. THEY DETERMINED THE ROTORS WERE OUT OF SPECIFICATION. THEY CUT THE FRONT ROTORS AND RESURFACED THE REAR ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM SUBSIDED FOR A WHILE, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE IT. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A CALL FROM CHRYSLER STATING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES AND ROTORS AND THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM IF THE CONSUMER PAID A WARRANTY DEDUCTIBLE OF $100. THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED IN JUNE 2011. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER WHICH STATED THE WARRANTY WAS BEING EXTENDED FOR THE FRONT BRAKE COMPONENTS ONLY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE AND ROTOR PROBLEMS HAVE NOT BEEN RESOLVED DESPITE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS ON HIS PART. *JB
