My car is a Dodge Journey with a 4 cylinder engine, factory steel wheels and bolt-on wheel covers. The factory wheel nuts are collapsing in diameter as a result of contact with impact wrenches. Recently I had a flat tire and in efforts to remove the wheel, because the wheel nuts had collapsed in diameter, special tools were needed to remove them. Had the flat tire occurred on the highway, it would not have been possible to remove the wheel and install the spare tire, posing a severe safety problem. I have replaced the factory wheel nuts on the wheel where the flat tire occurred and expect to do so on the other wheels

MASTERCRAFT GLACIER GRIP II TIRES 4 225 65 R16 INSTALLED 10/27/2016. LESS THAN 25,000 MILES ON TIRES AND 2 TIRES ON HAD TREAD SEPARATION. MINOR CRACK FRACTURES THAT LEAKED AIR OUT. I HAD TO KEEP PUTTING AIR IN TIRE. ONCE PUMPED UP TO TIRE SPECS HOLD AIR. SO DEALER DIDN'T FIND NOTHING WRONG TILL IT KEPT HAPPENING AND I MADE THEN DISMOUNT AND CHECK INSIDE AND OUT AND ALL AROUND. FOUND FROM INSIDE MICRO CRACKS IN TIRE TREAD. PER DEALER MANUFACTURE DEFECT.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS SOME PROBLEM TOO.

I GOT THE CAR BRAND NEW ON 2012. THE CAR NOW HAS 17000 MILES, THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE TIRES WHEN THE CAR HAD 15000. AT SPEED OVER 50M I FEEL SHAKING IN THE TIRES, AND FEEL THAT THE CAR IS NOT STABLE AND NOT GRIPED TO THE WAY, ALSO THE CAR ALWAYS SLIDES ON CURVES SPECIALLY IF THE ROAD IS WET , EVEN IF VERY SLIGHTLY WET AND ON LOW SPEED. ALL MAINTENANCE TO THE TIRES INCLUDING ROTATION AND ALLIGNMENT USED TO BE DONE ON TIME AT THE DEALER. WHEN I INFORMED THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY TOLD ME THAT I MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE THE TIRES, AND ADDED THAT THE TIRES ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE CAR WARRANTY AND THAT I HAVE TO CONTACT THE TIRES MANUFACTURE FOR ANY AVAILABLE COVERAGE. I CONTACTED THE TIRES MANUFACTURE WHICH INFORMED ME THAT THESE TIRES HAS NO MILAGES WARRANTY, AND ADDED THAT THESE TIRES ARE SPECIALLY MADE FOR DODGE UNDER THEIR REQUESTED STANDARDS WHICH IS LESS QUALITY THAN THOSE AVAILABLE IN THE MARKET. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT MIGHT RESULT IN SEVERE ACCIDENTS FOR THE DODGE JOURNEY CREW DRIVERS. *TR
THE FIRST TIME I TOOK FOR INSPECTION AT DEALERSHIP, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ON. THEY SAID CODE WAS 6TH CYLINDER AND RESET, AND HAD TO COME BACK NEXT DAY. IT RECENTLY CAME ON AGAIN AND NOW HAVE TO TAKE BACK TO SHOP, BECAUSE THE POWER AND ENGINE HESITATES, HAS ISSUES GOING UP HILLS, AND SCARES ME ON LONG RIDES. IT IS NOW PAST THE 35,000 MILE AND INTO MY EXTRA WARRANTY I PAID FOR. TIRES ALL WEAR BADLY TOO, CAR NEEDS FULL ALIGNMENT. HOPING THEY WILL NOT JUST RESET AND ACTUAL FIX THE 6TH CYLINDER, UNFORTUNATELY THE LIGHT COMES AND GOES. ITS NOT THE TIRES THAT ARE A PROBLEM, IT IS THE BAD ALIGNMENT CAUSING IT TO WEAR WRONG. TIRES AREN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, SO THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO LEAVE THE CAUSE OF THE DEFECT UNFIXED SO EVERY NEW TIRE YOU PUT ON GETS RUINED. IF THEY FIX 6TH CYLINDER WILL LET YOU KNOW, BUT BE CAREFUL, LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING AND THE HESITATION IS TERRIFYING WITH KIDS IN CAR. *TR
NEARLY BALD TIRES AFTER 24,000 MILES AND TWO YEARS. NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP OR THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WILL TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF ANY KIND. GOT STUCK IN VERY LOW LEVELS OF SNOW, SLIDE IN WET CONDITIONS, ETC. KUMHO TIRES TOLD ME THAT THESE TIRES ARE MADE OUT OF A COMPOUND THAT ARE NOT MEANT TO LAST MORE THAN 20,000 MILES. I FEEL DODGE IS DELIBERATELY CHEATING THEIR CUSTOMERS BY PUTTING SUCH TIRES ON A VEHICLE THEY ARE SELLING OR LEASING. *TR

I REQUESTED AT MY NEXT OIL CHANGE TO HAVE THEM ROTATED TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. NEVER PAID IT MUCH MORE ATTENTION UNTIL MY TRACTION LIGHT KEPT COMING ON WHEN DRIVING IN REGULAR WEATHER CONDITIONS IN ADDITION TO WET CONDITIONS. I CONTACTED THE DEALER HAD MY CAR INSPECTED. THE SUSPENSION AND ALIGNMENT SEEMED TO BE FINE THERE WAS NO EXPLANATION WHY MY TIRES AT THAT POINT 28,000 WERE BALLED AND DOWN TO THE TREAD INDICATORS ON ALL FOUR TIRES. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED KUMHO WHO ADVISED I DID NOT HAVE A WARRANTY FOR REGULAR TREAD WEAR AND DODGE STATES THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TIRES THE WARRANTY IS THROUGH KUMHO. WELL WOULD YOU EXPECT TO HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF NO TREAD BEING LEFT AT 28,000 MILES? I WOULD NOT UNTIL I CONTACTED KUMHO TO DISCUSS MYSELF AND WERE ADVISED THAT THE TIRES ARE MADE OUT OF A COMPOUND THAT IS NOT MEANT TO LAST THAT LONG AND ARE NOT OF THE SAME MATERIAL AS YOU WOULD BUY A NEW SET OF TIRES OF THE SAME BRAND AND SIZE FROM A TIRE DEALERSHIP DIRECTLY. THEY MAKE THE TIRES TO THE MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS AND THEY ARE NOT MEANT TO LAST SO BALLED TIRES AT 20,000 MILES IS ACCEPTABLE AND SAFE FOR NEW DODGE JOURNEY OWNERS! WHEN I AM IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY FAMILY BECAUSE OF THESE TIRES BEING MADE OUT OF A COMPOUND THAT IS ONLY MEANT TO LAST A FEW MILES THEN SOMEONE WILL HERE ME THEN I AM SURE! BAD BUSINESS MOVE TO MAKE INFERIOR TIRES TO PUT ON NEW VEHICLES AND THEN POINT THE FINGERS AT EACHOTHER AND NO ONE IS RESPONSIBLE! SAD! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 DODGE JOURNEY EQUIPPED WITH KUMHO SOLUS KH16 225/55/R19 (DOT 27PJYA5M4411) TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE RIM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TIRE. THE MECHANIC STATED THERE WERE CRACKS ON THE TIRES SIDEWALL. AFTER REPLACING THE TIRE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE ALSO BLEW OUT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,037. *TR
ISSUE WITH 2012 DODGE JOURNEY CREW: DODGE ONLY OFFERED 19" WHEEL BUT PUT AN UNDERSIZED 16" SPARE TIRE IN CAR. THE DIMENSION OF WHEEL DODGE USED TAKES A TIRE THAT IS NOT READILY AVAILABLE AND ONLY MANUFACTURED BY A SMALL NUMBER OF TIRE PRODUCERS. THIS SITUATION PUTS AN OWNER IN A PREDICAMENT WHEN A TIRE FAILS. POSSIBLY BE STUCK SOME WHERE IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN A TIRE OR WEEKS TO GET OR HAVE TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES ON A WHEEL THAT IS SIGNIFICANTLY DIFFERENT IN DIAMETER THAN THE OTHER WHEELS. THIS IS NOT A SAFE SITUATION. MY PERSONAL INFORMATION IS NOT NEEDED BY YOU OR ANY ONE ELSE. THE ABOVE STATEMENTS ARE FACTS WHICH SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.
