Was driving vehicle and lost power. Had vehicle towed to Ford dealership. Received email stating vehicle experienced engine failure. Also received a recall attachment and told the engine and turbo buster needed replaced. Was told it would be covered under warranty. Next day received call from dealership stating there were not going to cover engine under recall and I would need to pay almost $9,000 for a new engine. The vehicle is a 2021 ford ecosport with under 10,000 miles. When I contacted ford corp, they told me varied stories. First rep. Acknowledge the recall and then said it was up to the dealership to honor it. Second time I called ford corp. the rep said that there was no fix and only a work around and that my paying for the engine replacement was a work around the dealerships had come up with. When I reached back out to the dealership, they told me they had spoken with ford and was instructed to complete more diagnostics, which would cost me out of pocket for the diagnostics approximately $1400.00. I contacted another dealership and was told it would be two month before they could even look at it, due to the number of vehicles currently at their dealership waiting for engine replacements. I contacted ford corp again and was told there was a buy back option. I have just been waiting, when I spoke with the rep in the buyback department (9/25/24) she said it would be another 5 days and she would call me again. I asked about rental vehicles, she said that was up to the dealerships or that I could use a rental company like enterprise. I let her know that to rent a vehicle until the first quarter of 2025, when ford is supposed to have a fix for the vehicle would cost me close to, if not over $18,000 in rental fees. She said if she heard of ford starting a program to reimburse rental fees she would let me know. I asked if she would document the expected rental notes in the case.
Engine failure at 9,667 miles. Coolant leaked into engine per ford. Ford stated known issue with escapes, hasn’t been recalled for escosports…will cost $10k to repair.
Was driving the vehicle going approximately 35-40 miles per hour. Lost all power to the vehicle, no ability to steer or control the vehicle. Once vehicle stopped and after additional inspection at the Ford dealership was informed vehicle had experienced engine failure. First was told it occurred under current belt recall, later told engine failure occurred because of coolant leaking into oil. I was told it is a know problem and recall issue for Ford Escapes and other models with same EcoBoot engines, but that for the EcoSport it has not been recognized as a problem by Ford. Was told that I would need to pay $8816.38 to replace engine. The vehicle had approximately 9600 miles at time of engine failure. I contacted Ford and was told the vehicle was 1-3months outside of buyback timeframes. I was told to take the vehicle to another dealership and they would take care of everything, that has yet to happen.

July 12 my car overheated and shut down in the middle of the highway with no prior indication that there was a problem with my engine. I took it to the dealer the service dept told me it was due to the recall. Then proceeded to tell me that it’s from the cracked cylinder. Upon researching I found out that faulty part can cause over heating and cause cracks. They are currently saying that they aren’t responsible when the service tech told me it was a manufactured defect.

I received a letter in the mail a year ago 2024-01-08 concerning a recall on my 2021 ford ecosport. The recall involves the oil pump drive belt or drive belt tensioner which may fail, resulting in a loss of engine oil pressure and as a result it may lead to a loss of oil pressure can result in an engine stall and a loss of power braking assist, increasing the risk of a crash. I am concerned for the safety of myself as well as others . The parts won’t be available till the first quarter of 2025 my car has already started leaking oil and I am terrified . This is unacceptable I have to wait almost a whole year before parts can become available. Something needs to be done this is a huge safety concern.

ENGINE OIL PUMP DRIVE BELT TENSIONER ARM FRACTURED My vehicle has been in the service department since June 30st, following a breakdown during a trip from Odessa, Texas to California. The vehicle malfunctioned in California, approximately a 24-hour drive from our home. Upon investigation, I learned that the part responsible for the breakdown was already subject to a recall. Despite waiting for several days at a hotel near the dealership, I was not provided with a long-term rental. Instead, I was given a Lyft to the nearest airport to continue my trip. I also had to cover the costs of a rental car to return to Texas. Additionally, the faulty part has no estimated delivery date, leaving the vehicle unrepaired for an indefinite period. I foresee potential issues when it comes time to retrieve the vehicle, given the distance involved. Given the extended downtime and the out-of-pocket costs incurred, what are my options for resolving this situation, including rental reimbursement, vehicle pickup, or any other possible recourse?

Ford is stating a parts will not be available until early 2025. I almost lost my light driving last night on the highway. The car started slowing down, and making a noise and then started shaking out the blue on the highway and the engine was making a lot of noise. Thank goodness I was able to maneuver my car and not strike a concrete barrier or another vehicle, but I had to pay $200.00 to tow my car home and missed my shift for work. The Low Engine Oil Pressure alert came up on my dashboard, which is related to recall; Campaign: 23S64/23V905. This recall states the vehicle is safe to drive which is a lie. I am still financing this car and it is undriveable. Ford MUST supply a loaner vehicle until the parts come in and/or pay for all Uber/Lyft, grocery delivery fees etc as no one can wait a whole year for parts to come in for Ford not making a safe vehicle in the first place. I also have video of how loud my engine is.

I bought the vehicle six months ago and Ford will not complete the recall: Campaign/NHTSA# 23S64/23V905 Issue Date 2024-01-04 Description On your vehicle, it may be possible for the engine oil pump drive belt tensioner arm to fracture, and separate from the tensioner backing plate, andor the oil pump drive belt material may degrade and lose teeth, resulting in a loss of engine oil pressure. Safety Risk A loss of engine oil pressure can result in engine damage andor seizure, which can result in a loss of motive power and a loss of the mechanical vacuum pump required to provide power braking assist, increasing the risk of a crash. Remedy Ford Motor Company is working closely with its suppliers to produce parts for this repair. When parts become available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge parts and labor. The engine oil pump belt tensioner is damaged, which caused me to be unable to drive the car and have difficulty braking. There is a recall for this part and no available repair.
While waiting at a stop light when the automatic start kicked back in it was so hard I felt that someone had rear ended my car and then the car stalled. I had to put the car in park and restart the engine. My biggest fear is being rear ended. My engine whines and the rpm will hit 4 or 5 before the car will shift into the next gear. It does the ssame thing when trying to accelerate - it's as if it's not getting enough fuel. However, my biggest fear is that I've had a recall on my vehicle since January, 2024 - Manufacturer Recall Number 23S64; NHTSA Recall Number 23V905 and there not anticipaing a fix until the first quarter of 2025. The Safety Risk: A LOSS OF ENGINE OIL PRESSURE CAN RESULT IN ENGINE DAMAGE ANDOR SEIZURE, WHICH CAN RESULT IN A LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER AND A LOSS OF THE MECHANICAL VACUUM PUMP REQUIRED TO PROVIDE POWER BRAKING ASSIST, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. Knowing that this is a safety risk, nothing can be provided for the consumer soone than this. This is scarry, why not buy the vehicle back. If I get in an accident then what?
My vehicle has outright lost power and shut down entirely with the engine non functional approximately 6 times since I acquired it back in March of 2024. This recall has existed for 2 months prior to me getting my vehicle and I was unaware of the recall at the time I purchased it because dealerships selling vehicles with open recalls wasn’t something I was aware was legal considering the imminent potential safety risks. I have nearly wrecked 3 times while going 50+ mph on major local roads and highways because of my car shutting off entirely with 0 notice. To be entirely honest I don’t have enough money to go out and finance another car and I also don’t think a fault vehicle should become my liability when it’s faulty because of processes the manufacture has cut costs on. Not only is driving my vehicle extremely dangerous but it’s my only choice as the alternatives are viable options regarding costs. Assuming I were to get into a wreck knowing this issue was occurring I’d be liable per my insurance for something a multi billion dollar corporation has considered a “non-issue” for literally over a year now. When this happens my power steering loses its functionality locking up the steering wheel entirely, every light and electronic in the car shuts off instantly, and the engine shuts off but because my vehicle is in motion it continues rolling until my speed reaches 0. My brakes haven’t worked more than a fraction of how they’d normally work if my car were working as intended which is extremely annoying because sometimes like while in 5pm traffic I NEED to brake and am unable to which is very dangerous. I have had my car for just about a year and once every 2 months something that could potentially kill me and cause millions of dollars in damage has occurred while the manufacturer has had more time than I’ve had my vehicle to fix the issue. I only filed a complaint now because I was unaware I was able to prior. Thanks.
The low oil pressure light came on and within minutes the engine completely stalled and multiple check engine codes came up. Lost all control of the vehicle. It is currently at the dealer and needs a whole new engine. It has been inspected by the technicians at the dealership. This all happened within minutes of the light coming on. The technician stated the oil pump belt was damaged and came apart resulting in a whole new engine being needed. Ford sent the recall notice in Feb 2024 and the part is still not available. They are refusing to pay for the new engine up front.

On [XXX] I was driving on [XXX] towards Ashville, NC at 65 mph. My oil pressure light came on. Within thirty seconds my car had decelerated and come to a complete stop. I was able to roll onto the shoulder. There was no warning. The light had never come on before. I had just had my oil changed the month before. My car was eventually towed to Ken Wilson Ford in Canton, NC. I was told it was the oil tensioner arm and the engine needed to be replace. It is still there. Thankfully there is a dedicated service member that worked for more than eight weeks to get authorization for a rental car. I do not know how long they will allow me to keep that; without it I do not have transportation to and from work. I have talked to Ford Service and they have very concern about my situation. I was told on [XXX] that the parts were not expected until late 2024. Ford has know about this problem for years. It is just recently been declared an official recall. Suddenly there are parts available when they have been fixing this problem at the dealerships since 2018. I know there have been accidents related to this recall. In my case I was lucky there was no one in the lane next to me and I was able to coast to the shoulder. I have still not received a recall letter. This is the second time this has happened resulting in loss of my reliable transportation to/work, major repair while still in warrenty, WITHOUT vehicle loaner, rental or replacement during that time. I was again at the top of a steep hill- this time heading onto the highway- but midway into one of the busiest intersections in town. I heard a loud sound followed by mechanical spinning/winding when I try to accelerate on the green light. When I tried to drive or remove my food from the break, my car went backward down the hill and into oncoming traffic. Restarting my car didn’t help as park and drive didn’t engage. The only control I now had was the steering wheel and brake system. There were no warning signs before, during or after the ordeal. I’m not certain my lighting system worked on the outside of my vehicle as cars continued to approach the line I was in to turn left despite my hazard lights. My lights and electrical system did however work internally. I called Ford’s roadside helpline and told them I was trapped on a hill with limited control, with piles of cars behind me and I was afraid my brakes were also at risk of failing. I emphasized the emergency I was in. However, Ford Roadside was only allowed to dispatched a tow truck from 73 minutes away because the company located just 10 minutes away was not in contract with them. I also called the police to assist with traffic build up behind me as I was blocking traffic and in serious danger because I couldn’t exit the car without it rolling. I also called the out of contract tow company and paid the $200 out of pocket. I spent over an hour holding my foot on the break before help arrived.
It was flashing lights reving up and down was not drivable car was not driving safely and sounded very bad
