TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THERE WAS EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AND UNINTENDED RESISTANCE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. THE DRIVER HAD TO EXERT GREATER FORCE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FAILURES OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL BEFORE IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THEY STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILED, WHICH HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SEVEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE RACK AND PINION WAS REPLACED TWICE, INCLUDING ALL OF THE HYDRAULIC LINES AND OIL COOLER COMPONENTS IN THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. THE FAILURES CONTINUED WITHOUT ANY RESOLUTION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,200.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE TURNING INTO THE DRIVEWAY THE LEFT REAR FENDER WAS SCRAPED DUE TO THE WINDSHIELD BEING DISTORTED. THE CONTACT RECENTLY DISCOVERED THAT THE WINDSHIELD APPEARED TO HAVE "WAVES" GOING THROUGH THE GLASS. HE HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED. HE FEELS THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE A MUCH MORE SERIOUS CRASH COULD HAVE OCCURRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 680 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17. UPDATED 08/27/08, *LJ UPDATED 08/28/08*JB
TRANSMISSION IS BAD AND HAS BEEN SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES AND CONTINUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE DIRECTLY IN THE FRONT CENTER. THE FRONT END OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED, BUT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. HE SUSTAINED MULTIPLE CONTUSIONS AND BRUISING TO DIFFERENT PARTS OF HIS BODY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE POSSESSION OF A LOCAL AUTO SHOP. NUMEROUS PICTURES WERE TAKEN AFTER THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO SEND SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 1,000.

"TAKATA RECALL" RECEIVED RECALL JULY 2016 IT IS NOW AUGUST 2017 AND VEHICLE STILL WITH DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS. WHAT IS MY RECOURSE DEALER SAYS IT IS OUT OF HIS HANDS FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAYS THEY ARE WAITING FOR SUPPLIES. PLEASE HELP.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT IT TOOK A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF TIME TO STOP THE VEHICLE. HE DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES IN THE VEHICLE BEFOREHAND AND THE DEALER HAS NOT DIAGNOSED THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 5,600. UPDATED 07/10/08. *LJ UPDATED *JB
TAKATA RECALL. THIS REPAIR IS TAKING MUCH TOO LONG GIVEN THE POTENTIALLY DEADLY NATURE OF THIS RECALL
PURCHASED FORD EDGE NEW 2008. HAD PROBLEMS SINCE BEGINNING. DRIVING LOW SPEED IT SLIPPED INTO L, TWICE. BROUGHT CAR IN SEVERAL TIMES COMPLAINING SPITTING AND SPUTTERING, BUCKING LIKE CHOKING. (I DO NOT HAVE EXACT DATE OF COMPLAINT TODAY BUT ENTERED APPROXIMATE- IN PROCESS OF OBTAINING HISTORY ). BROUGHT CAR INTO FORD DEALER IN ALBANY WHERE I WAS TOLD BAD GAS AND ONE TIME A BROKEN SEAL BUT NOT TOLD WHERE SEAL WAS. CAR NOW 4 YRS W/ ONLY 65466. MILES. ALWAYS GOT SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE FOR MORE $ TO INSURE EXTENDED COVERAGE ON POWERTRAIN OR SO WAS INFORMED WOULD BE THE CASE. I ASKED, HOW CAN I GET A 4000 MILE EXTENDED COVERAGE ON THE POWERTRAIN WHEN I AM ONLY TO GET THE OIL CHANGED AT 5 - 6000 MILES, I WAS TOLD "DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT". OCT. 2011 CAR SPUTTERED AND SPIT AFTER FILLING TANK. I HOPED WAS DUE TO BAD GAS AS TOLD IN PAST, HOWEVER, THIS TIME, THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO 30 MPH, ANY FASTER, CAR ACTED LIKE WAS IN NEUTRAL. ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, I CALLED FORD GARAGE, AAA WAS TOWED IN. NO WARRANTY I AM TOLD BECAUSE I DIDN'T PURCHASE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. WHY DID I NEED IT? I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE OK WITH THE SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGES AND EXTENDED COVERAGE ON THE POWERTRAIN. IN ADDITION, I AM BEING TOLD BECAUSE ONLY DID A TRANSMISSION FLUSH AT 30,000 NOT 60,000, NOT COVERED. WE ALL KNOW CAR SHOULD NOT NEED NEW TRANSMISSION AT 65466 MILES REGARDLESS. TREATED CAR LIKE A CHILD. WANT NOTHING ELSE. BEEN W/ FORD / NOW FORD/ MAZDA SINCE 18YRS OLD, NOW 52. LOYALTY GETS NOWHERE. IN PROCESS OF OBTAINING HISTORY ALL COMPLAINTS SINCE NEW TO FIGHT NO SUPPORT. ALL THIS AND THE END WILL RESULT WITH ME HAVING NO CAR AND CONSIDERABLE EXPENSE AND ULTIMATELY NO MORE GOOD CREDIT IF I THROW THE KEYS AT THEM AND SAY KEEP IT ! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN ,THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, BUT THE VEHICLE BEGAN GOING BACKWARDS. IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO GO FORWARD, THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY ONE FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND THE OTHER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE ENGINE SIZE AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 314 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE INVOLUNTARILY SURGED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AFTER ONE OF THE FAILURES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED BUT NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE BODY DAMAGE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER FROM FORD JULY 2016. 15 MONTHS LATER IT STILL HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE HELP IN THIS MATTER THANK YOU.
TAKATA RECALL, AIRBAG PASSENGER SIDE - FRONT AIRBAG RECALL - FORD IS TAKING TOO LONG TO PROVIDE A FIX. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE HERE.
"TAKATA RECALL" - THIS VEHICLE IS NOW 10 YEARS OLD. MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AND I WANT MY AIRBAG REPLACED ASAP. MY MOTHER OFTEN RIDES IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT....SHOULD SHE BE HARMED BY THIS DEFECTIVE AIRBAG, MY FAMILY WILL SUE FORD AS I AM SURE MANY FORD EDGE OWNERS WILL DO. FIX IT NOW.
The internal water pump failed on my 2008 Ford Edge (3.5L V6), allowing coolant to leak into the engine oil. This caused catastrophic engine damage and complete engine failure. The water pump is internally mounted and driven by the timing chain. When it fails, coolant contaminates the oil, destroying the engine without adequate warning. There was no external leak prior to failure. This is a known issue affecting many Ford vehicles with this engine design.
