ON 2 BACK TO BACK OCCASIONS BACKING OUT OF GARAGE AND DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, WHICH IS RATHER STEEP, THERE WAS NEEDED AN EXTREMELY HARD PRESSURE ON BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE CAR. IT WAS LIKE STOPPING A CAR WITHOUT POWER BRAKES, LIKE WHEN THE ENGINE IS OFF. ONCE CAR WAS ON FLAT ROAD IT BRAKED NORMALLY. THERE IS A SIMILAR COMPLAINT NOTED ABOUT THIS MODEL YEAR EDGE. *TR UPDATED 3/5/14*CN
DOOR SENSOR DOES NOT ALLOW DOOR TO LOCK. DASH INDICATES DOOR IS NOT CLOSED AND TELLS YOU TO PUT VEHICAL IN PARK. PROBLEM CONTINUES TO COME BACK. DEALER HAS HAD IT 5 TIMES. THEY WILL NOT REPLACE SENSOR.... JUST CLEAN IT. THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR WAS CLOSED SECURELY. IN ADDITION, THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO YEARS LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON, EVEN THOUGH DOOR IS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW DOORS TO LOCK WHEN DRIVING, AND THE ALARM KEEPS GOING OFF, AND DOME LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF IF KEYS ARE LEFT IN THE IGNITION. THE DOORS NOT LOCKING IS THE BIG SAFETY PROBLEM, AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. I HAD THE DEALER FIX THIS ONCE WHEN THE CAR WAS JUST OVER A YEAR OLD, AND NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN A YEAR AND A HALF LATER. FAULTY PART FOR SURE.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR AJAR SENSOR IS DYSFUNCTIONAL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IN THE VEHICLE, FUEL WAS SMELLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V438000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES EXTREMELY HARD TRANSMISSION SHIFTS. WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND GOING TO SPEED BACK UP, TRANSMISSION APPEARS TO SHIFT INTO WRONG GEAR CAUSING VEHICLE TO BANG HARD THEN SHIFT INTO CORRECT GEAR TO THE POINT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKES/FEELS LIKE YOU WERE HIT. VEHICLE ALSO ENGAGES HARD INTO 1ST/2ND GEAR WHEN COASTING AND REAPPLYING GAS. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE HARD SHIFT INTO GEAR ISSUE MULTIPLE TIMES (AT LEAST 10-15) AND 1ST/2ND GEAR ENGAGE BUMP EVERYDAY. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE AND WILL PROBABLY LEAD TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *TR
AFTER SEEING THE RECENT ISSUES W/ THE FORD V6 ECOBOOST ENGINE, I THOUGHT IT WISE TO TELL ABOUT THE 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINE IN MY EDGE. AFTER OWNING THE VEHICLE LESS THAN A YEAR, I WAS DRIVING THRU A NEIGHBORHOOD AT A VERY SLOW PACE, I STARTED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN & THE CAR SIMPLY DIED. NO SHAKING, NO WARNING. LOST ALL POWER STEERING & ENGINE COMPRESSION. TURNED OFF, RESTARTED & ALL WAS WELL. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP THE NEXT WEEK, IF WE CANT REPLICATE IT WE CANT FIX IT. LAST MONTH, MY WIFE WAS TURNING RIGHT SLOWLY INTO A PARKING LOT & IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME FORD KEPT THE CAR FOR OVER A WEEK TRYING TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, NO LUCK. IF WE CANT FIND IT, WE CANT FIX IT. I WAS TOLD IT COULD BE NUMEROUS THINGS & NO BULLETINS OR FIXES AT THIS TIME. SO MY PREGNANT WIFE NOW DRIVES A BRAND NEW VEHICLE THAT DECIDES TO DIE IN TRAFFIC WHILE TURNING, MAYBE IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC,. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHER EDGE ECOBOOST VEHICLES, BUT ALAS NO FIX. IN THE RECENT ARTICLES I HAVE BEEN READING IT SAYS THE 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINE HAS NOT BEEN AFFECTED, I FEEL THAT IS INCORRECT. I THINK FORD NEEDS TO LOOK INTO ALL ECOBOOST ENGINES & FIND A FIX NOW OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE. *TR
FRONT WIPER SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION AND WIPERS ARE STILL RUNNING. *TR
DRIVER DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON EVEN WHEN DOOR IS COMPLETELY SHUT CAUSING MY CAR BATTERY TO DIE FROM THE DOME LIGHTS ALWAYS BEING ON.

2012 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH MEMORY SEAT FUNCTION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE SEAT SUDDENLY MOVED FORWARD. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. FINALLY, HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE MEMORY FUNCTION TO SET WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM. *JB
DURING THE NIGHT ON 9/25/2012, THE WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY CRACKED FROM THE LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE CORNER EXTENDING DIAGONALLY TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDOW. THE WINDOW WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. ON 7/2/12 SAME TYPE OF CRACK APPEARED ON DRIVER SIDE IN NEW WINDSHIELD. ON 7/21/12, A SIMILAR CRACK APPEARED ON PASSENGER SIDE EXTENDING FROM THE LOWER CORNER AND CONTINUING TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE WINDOW. THESE 3 SPONTANEOUS CRACKS FROM CORNERS OCCURRED IN ABOUT ONE AND A HALF YEARS, ALL HAPPENING OVER NIGHT AND FROM THE CORNERS. *TR
WINDSHIELD CRACKED WHILE CAR WAS PARKED. NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT WAS NOTED. CRACK STARTED IN LOWER DRIVER'S SIDE CORNER AND QUICKLY SPREAD ACROSS WINDSHIELD. *TR
CAR WAS IN REVERSE, BACKING OUT OF A GARAGE. THE POWER BRAKES FAILED ALTHOUGH I WAS STILL ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY PRESSING HARD ON THE PEDAL. IT WAS AS IF THE POWER-ASSIST WENT OUT & PEDAL TRAVELED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. PROBLEM REPEATED, AGAIN WHEN IN REVERSE AND PARALLEL PARKING, ON 7/31. HAD THE CAR CHECKED AT THE FORD DEALER ON 8/4 BUT THEY DID NOT IDENTIFY A PROBLEM. SYMPTOMS REPEATED ON 8/10 WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND ON 8/19, ALSO WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. SO FAR THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED AT LOW SPEED WHILE THE CAR IS IN REVERSE, BUT I FEAR IT WILL HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR UPDATED 3/5/14*CN
MY 14 MONTH OLD, 2012 FORD EDGE, HAS HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES, SOME VERY SERIOUS! FROM THE BEGINNING, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE SYNC SYSTEM, THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, AND CONTROLLING THE TEMPERATURE. THEY HAVE HAD TO "UPDATE" MY SYNC SYSTEM MORE THAN ONCE. I FREQUENTLY GET A "NO KEY DETECTED" MESSAGE WHEN DRIVING. (PUSH START SYSTEM) THE FIRST TIME THAT HAPPENED I PULLED OFF THE ROAD THINKING IT WOULD STOP RUNNING, AND DID $1400.00 IN DAMAGE TO THE CAR. (COVERAGE WAS DENIED BY THE WHEEL AND TIRE PROTECTION PLAN.) LATER WAS TOLD THE CAR WOULD NOT HAVE STOPPED EVEN IF IT DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THAT THE KEY FOB WAS IN IT. (A CAR-JACKERS DREAM!) I HAD A HOLE IN MY BRAKE BOOSTER CAUSING ME TO NOT HAVE THE BENEFIT OF POWER BRAKES. FOUND THIS OUT WHEN I STEPPED ON MY BRAKES AND WASN'T STOPPING. I HAD THE REALLY PUSH ON THEM TO PREVENT HITTING A CAR. THE BATTERY DIED IN 14 MONTHS. THE LATEST IS THAT THE VACUUM SEAL IN THE CAPLESS FUEL SYSTEM HAD A BAD O-RING CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK AND VAPORS TO ESCAPE. I TRULY BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR IS POORLY MADE. I'M JUST WAITING FOR THE NEXT ISSUE TO SURFACE. *TR
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AFTER TURNING ONTO A STATE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. IT TOOK 1-2 MINUTES TO ACCELERATE TO 30 MPH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REACH SPEEDS ABOVE 30 MPH. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I WAS IN TRAFFIC GOING 60-70 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP AND THE PROBLEM WAS REPAIRED UNTIL THE CONDITION REAPPEARED IN AUGUST OF 2014. THE CONDITIONS WERE SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES AS THE FIRST FAILURE. AS I WAS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES TO GET TO 30-35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REACH SPEEDS ABOVE 30-35 MPH AND SEVERAL CARS HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE OTHER LANES TO AVOID MY VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ONCE AGAIN THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED. WITH THIS BEING THE SECOND FAILURE OF THE SAME PART IN A 30 MONTH PERIOD OF TIME CREATING A VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION, I FELT I SHOULD REPORT THE INCIDENT. *TR
DRIVER: 83 YEAR OLD WOMAN... NEW AUTO: FORD EDGE 2012, NO INJURIES, VEHICLE DAMAGE APPROX $2000.00 NO PROPERTY DAMAGE..... PROBLEM: LADY STEPPED ON ACCELERATOR RATHER THAN BRAKE.... REASON: THE BRAKE PEDAL AT REST IS HIGHER THAN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT REST. THE DRIVER IS USED TO AN OLDER (CHRYSLER 2009) VEHICLE WHICH THERE WAS NOT AN APPRECIABLE DIFFERENCE IN PEDAL HEIGHT, STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THINKING SHE WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE.... RESOLUTION: DISCUSSING THE INCIDENT, THE WOMAN WAS SEATED IN THE FORD EDGE AND ASKED TO SEE IF SHE FELT A DIFFERENCE IN HEIGHT OF THE BRAKE VS ACCELERATOR PEDALS. SHE DID, AND HAS SINCE PRACTICED GOING BETWEEN PEDALS, LIFTING HER FOOT TO ACCESS THE BRAKE, RATHER THAN MERELY SLIDING HER FOOT TO THE LEFT........ IT IS THIS WRITERS OPINION THAT MANY OF THE UNEXPLAINED ACCIDENTS WHERE A PERSON, ESPECIALLY WHEN AN ELDERLY PERSON IS DRIVING, HAS MISTOOK THE ACCELERATOR FOR THE BRAKE IS DUE TO THE HEIGHT OF PEDAL DIFFERENCE. ................ IT MIGHT BE WISE TO MAKE AWARE THIS PROBLEM TO MANUFACTURERS AND THE PUBLIC. ........ THANKS *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT WAS ACTIVATED, THERE WAS A WHITE, POWDERY SUBSTANCE BEING EMITTED FROM THE VENTILATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT LEAST FIVE TIMES BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE SUBSTANCE. IN ADDITION, THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE A DIAGNOSIS FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO INSPECTED AND CLEANED THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BY EMAIL BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT YET RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
PURCHASED THIS CAR BRAND NEW. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM THE START. DRIVING UNDER NORMAL, DRY CONDITIONS WHEN THROTTLE IS DECELERATED AND THEN A SLIGHT PAUSE BEFORE ACCELERATION THE CAR SLAMS HARD INTO GEAR WHEN YOU BEGIN TO THROTTLE AGAIN. THE FIRST EVENT THE DEALERSHIP "FLASHED THE COMPUTER" AND SAID THAT WOULD FIX IT. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAS NETTED NO RESULTS. THE DEALER HAD MY CAR FOR 10 DAYS WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT CLAIMING A LACK OF CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN. THEY SET AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME ON 7/30/2012 AND BY 8/9/12 HAD STILL NOT LOOKED AT MY CAR. *TR
VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE AFTER WE ATTEMPTED TO PARK THE VEHICLE. THIS INCIDENT TOOK PLACE LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AFTER NEW CAR PURCHASE FROM DEALER! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE AND A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ANYONE LOOKING TO PURCHASE A FORD EDGE. *JS
2012 FORD EDGE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SEVERAL SAFETY PROBLEMS AND SEEKS FINANCIAL COMPENSATION OR VEHICLE REPLACED. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MY TOUCH SCREEN WOULD GO BLACK, AND LOCK UP. ALSO, THE BRAKES DID NOT ENGAGE, WHICH RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEM WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THE VEHICLE SHOWED A FRONT COLLISION SYSTEM FAULT, THE NAVIGATION WAS STUCK. ALSO, WHEN THE CONSUMER SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, A SHIFT TO PARK SIGNAL ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY, AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE LIGHT IN THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 03/27/14

CONSUMER STATES PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE HEAD REST *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED FORWARD TILTED HEAD RESTS PRODUCE A LOT OF NECK PAIN WHICH MAY FORCE CONSUMERS TO LOOK FOR DIFFERENT ALTERNATIVES THAT MAY ALTER SAFETY SPECIFICATIONS. THE CONSUMER IS LOOKING FOR A WAY TO REPLACE THE HEAD REST. *JB
FORD HAS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, WHICH THEY REFER IT TO "CHECK ENGINE SOON" THAT COMES ON. THERE IS A DEFECT WITH FORD'S CAPLESS FUEL TANK. SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE CAUSES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO LIGHT UP NON-STOP! I AM CONCERNED THAT DOWN THE LINE, THERE WILL BE NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THE CAPLESS SYSTEMS. IT DOES NOT APPEAR DURABLE AND WILL COST HUNDREDS OUT OF THE POCKET OF OWNERS WHOSE WARRANTY WILL EXPIRE AFTER 2-3 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!! A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET DOES SHOW CONSUMERS WHO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS TYPE OF SYSTEM, BUT THEN AGAIN THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THOSE WHO ARE NOT COMPUTER SAVVY! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EDGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT PINNED THE PASSENGER TO THE SEAT IF THERE WAS TOO MUCH MOVEMENT. THE PASSENGER HAD TO DISCONNECT THE SEAT BELT AND RECONNECT IT IN ORDER FOR THE SEAT BELT TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD BECAUSE THE SEAT BELTS WERE DESIGNED THAT WAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 15,000.
VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH MYFORD TOUCH SYSTEM. SYSTEM CONTROLS HEATING/DEFROSTING SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM HAS FAILED TO OPERATE PROPERLY ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF ISSUE AND HAS NOT CORRECTED IT. FORD SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO MARKET VEHICLES THAT DO NOT HAVE PROPERLY FUNCTIONING HEATING/DEFROSTING CONTROLS. THESE VEHICLES ARE DANGEROUS AND THE ISSUE IS WELL KNOW BY INTERNET SEARCHES. PEOPLE RELY ON VEHICLES TO OPERATE PROPERLY IN WINTER CONDITIONS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP. *TR
