LOSS OF MAJOR ENGINE POWER AND LOSS OF ACCELERATION WHEN PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. HAS NO ACCELERATION POWER ANYMORE LIKE IT DID A YEAR AGO TO NOW. REPLACE ALL SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS WITH NOW NEW ACCELERATION POWER AT ALL.
RECENTLY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK ON MY 2007 FORD ESCAPE AND I HAD TO RUN INTO A CURB TO STOP THE VEHICLE, ITY CAUSED ABOUT $1500 DAMAGE TO THE CAR. NO PERSONNEL INJURIES WERE CAUSED. I HAD TO RUN THE CAR INTO A CURB TO KEEP FROM REAR ENDING ANOTHER VEHICLE.
THE GAS PEDAL WOULD STICK INTERMITTENTLY, AND MORE PRESSURE NEEDED TO BE APPLIED TO THE PEDAL IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. AT ONE POINT THE GAS PEDAL COMPLETELY STUCK, AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE THE CAR AT ALL ON THE HIGHWAY, FORCING ME TO PULL THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN IT OFF TO BE TOWED. A MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM THIS ISSUE IS CAUSED BY A MALFUNCTION IN THE THROTTLE BODY. FORD PREVIOUSLY RECALLED THROTTLE BODY'S IN ESCAPES FROM 2009-2012, BUT MY CAR IS 2007 AND DOES NOT APPLY. HOWEVER, BECAUSE IT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME MALFUNCTION, AND HAS SERIOUS SAFETY IMPLICATION, I BELIEVE THE 2007 FORD ESCAPE MODEL SHOULD BE ADDED TO FORDS CURRENT CONSUMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03.
2007 FORD ESCAPE THROTTLE STICKS INTERMITTENTLY. DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE PETAL WILL STICK AND NOT RESPOND. PUSH DOWN ON GAS PETAL AND WILL NOT MOVE OR RESPOND. FLUTTER THE PETAL AND IN WILL RETURN TO OPERATIONAL FORM.PETAL STICKS AND NOT ALLOW YOU TO GIVE ENGINE AND GAS. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PETAL THEN TRY TO REAPPLY THE GAS TO ACCELERATE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I BOUGHT IT BUT HAS BECOME MORE FREQUENT AS THE VEHICLE AGES. I HAVE TOLD DEALER REPS.ABOUT THIS ONGOING ISSUE AND EACH TIME I'M TOLD IT HAS NO RECALLS AND I WILL NEED TO PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS MYSELF.
I CANNOT DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR. IT OCCURS AFTER AROUND 1 MILE OF DRIVING DURING THE FIRST TRIP OF THE DAY. IT HAS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE PAST YEAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO FORD BUT THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND REQUIRED THAT I LEAVE THE CAR OVERNIGHT WHICH I COULD NOT DO. TODAY WAS THE FIRST DAY THAT I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. *JS
MY DAUGHTER WAS ALMOST KILLED WHEN WE TRIED TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC AND THE THROTTLE STUCK. SHE IS LEARNING TO DRIVE AND DID NOT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THE CAR NOT STARTING WHEN SHE PRESSED THE GAS AND THEN IT SUDDENLY LURCHED INTO TRAFFIC. IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL FOR THE 2001-2004 ESCAPES. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND IT IS 500+ TO FIX. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 85K ON IT AND I FIND THIS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. SINCE I CANT AFFORD TO FIX IT NOW IT WILL SIT IN MY DRIVE WAY. THANKS FORD. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE ALONG WITH AN AUDIBLE CHIME AND A RED TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT SYMBOL. THE GAS ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER COASTING FROM HIGHWAY SPEED TO AROUND 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE REMAINED UNDER HYBRID ELECTRIC POWER ALLOWING ME TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MY VEHICLE IS AROUND 7.5 YEARS OLD AND HAS 89,000 MILES. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS TO HAVE OCCURRED WITH SEVERAL OF THESE TYPE VEHICLES. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THAT THEY RETRIEVED ERROR CODES P1AOD, P0A3E, B139. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT IT REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE HYBRID DRIVE TRAIN MOTOR ELECTRONICS COOLING SYSTEM (MECS) WATER PUMP (PART# 5M6Z8C419A) AND (PART# AL8Z19E66F). THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB) 08-24-5 THAT SEEMS TO RELATE TO SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER 8 YEAR /100,000 MILE HYBRID WARRANTY ACCORDING TO FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONS DESPITE BOTH PARTS BEING PART OF THE HYBRID DRIVE SYSTEM. *TR

I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AND WAS DRIVING AT BETWEEN 55 AND 60 ON THE METER. I WAS IN AN AREA WHERE THE ROAD DIPS AND RISES. COMING UP A RISE IT ACCELERATED BUT THEN CONTINUED BEYOND THE SET SPEED. APPLYING THE BRAKES DID RESULT IN REGAINING CONTROL OF THE SPEED. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, AND IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS HAPPENS AFTER HAVING GONE UP A HILL. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WERE RECALLS ISSUED FOR MY CAR AND IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS NOT ONE FOR THE 2007 MODEL, BUT RESEARCH HAS REVEALED SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 149,000.

OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, MY GAS PEDAL HAS BEEN STICKING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IT BEGAN IN MAY 2012 AND HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH COLD WEATHER, BUT IT HAS OCCURRED AT VARIOUS TIMES OF THE DAY AS WELL AS TEMPERATURES AT THROUGHOUT SPRING, SUMMER AND FALL. I AM FORCED TO PUSH HARD ON THE ACCELERATOR WHEN IT STICKS, WHICH CAUSES MY VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD. IT USUALLY STICKS WHEN I HAVE COMPLETELY STOPPED, BUT HAS OFTEN GOTTEN STUCK WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER COMING OUT OF A CURVE I HAVE SLOWED DOWN TO GO THROUGH. IT IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO HAVE OCCURRED WITH SEVERAL FORD ESCAPES IN THE PAST. *TR
IN COLD WEATHER FOR THE FIRST 2 OR 3 STOPS THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT MASH DOWN. IT STUCK UP. IT WOULD BE OK AFTER THAT. NEVER A PROBLEM IN SUMMER. FORD CHECKED IT AND COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY DID NOT HAVE AN ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM. I FELT LIKE I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. FINALLY IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR IT STUCK AND I HAD TO HAVE THE THROTTLE REPLACED, A $383.79 COST TO ME. I CONTACTED FORD AND TOLD THEM I THOUGHT THEY SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIR SINCE IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY EVIDENTIALLY THOUGHT NOT BECAUSE THEY WOULD NOT TAKE CARE OF IT. WHEN YOU STOP AND START OFF AND THE PEDAL STICKS AND YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND YOUR CAR WON'T MOVE, THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MY SON WAS DRIVING IN TEXAS AND STOPPED BEHIND ANOTHER CAR AT A RED LIGHT AND STARTED TO EASE UP WHEN THE PEDAL STUCK. HE PATTED IT A TIME OR TWO AND IT JERKED FORWARD AND ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. THIS HAPPENED THE WHOLE TIME I HAD THE CAR UNTIL APRIL OF THIS YEAR AND AFTER 2 OR 3 STOPS, WHEN IT WARMED UP, IT WAS OK. *TR

WHILE DRIVING IN MAJOR TRAFFIC, I WAS TRYING TO CHANGE LANES AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL TO ACCELERATE, MY PEDAL WAS FROZEN IN PLACE AND I COULD NOT GET IT MOVED. MY CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN. THEN WITHIN A FEW SECONDS MY PEDAL POPPED AND I COULD ACCELERATE AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES EACH TIME, THE PEDAL FROZE LONGER. THE LAST TIME, WAS IN APRIL ON A SUNDAY AND MY GAS PEDAL FROZE AGAIN. I WAS IN MAJOR TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES WERE DRIVING FAST BEHIND ME AS A LIGHT HAD JUST CHANGED TO GREEN. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT MY GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK, I WAS DRIVING BY A GARDEN NURSERY (BUSINESS) WHICH HAS AS HUGE DIRT DRIVEWAY, I SKIDDED INTO THE LOT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY TO AVOID BEING HIT. I WOULD HAVE DEFINITELY BEEN HIT IF I HAD NOT OF TURNED. MY SPEED HAD COMPLETELY STOPPED. IN THIS INSTANCE, MY GAS PEDAL STAYED FROZEN FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. I KEPT PUTTING MY CAR IN REVERSE TO TRY TO GET SOME MOMENTUM AS I COULD NOT GET ANY SPEED GOING FORWARD. FINALLY, I TURNED MY CAR OFF FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES AS I WAS NOT MAKING ANY PROGRESS AND TRIED AGAIN. AFTER ALL THIS TIME, I TRIED TO DRIVE IN THE DRIVEWAY AND I GOT A LITTLE SPEED. I DROVE HOME AND NEVER MADE IT TO MY DESTINATION FOR THE DAY. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND ASKED THEM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND IF THERE WAS A RECALL. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM AND NOT AWARE AND NO RECALL EXISTED.
I OWN A 2007 FORD ESCAPE, 45,000 MILES, CAR IS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. ON 12/7/10, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK & TRIED TO LANE CHANGE ,THE GAS PEDAL BECAME STUCK, I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MERGE BACK INTO MY LANE & REPEATEDLY FORCE THE PEDAL DOWN TO GET THE CAR TO FINALLY ACCELERATE. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED THE REMAINING PART OF THE DAY & NEXT, AND I TOOK THE CAR TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP ON DECEMBER 8. ON DECEMBER 9TH , THE SERVICE MANAGER ADVISED THE THROTTLE WAS BENT , REPLACEMENT AT COST OF $300 AND THE PART IS BEING 'REDESIGNED ' AND NOT BE AVAILABLE TO BE SHIPPED FROM THE PART SUPPLIER UNTIL 12/20/10 ,THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT RECEIVE THE PART UNTIL SOMETIME IN JANUARY 2011 .THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND WOULD NEED TO REMAIN AT THE DEALERSHIP . I ASKED WHY THE PART WAS BEING REDESIGNED, HE HAD NO ANSWER, TO ME MEANS THE ORIGINAL PART IN MY CAR IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD, THE THROTTLE CANNOT GET 'BENT' ON IT'S OWN THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE WHEN INSTALLED, OBVIOUSLY A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THE PART DEALER IS AWARE OF & REDESIGNING . I WAS ALSO ADVISED THE MECHANICS DISCOVERED A FAULTY ABS TONE RING, CRACKED, $145.00 TO REPLACE , I ASKED HOW CAN THAT HAPPEN, THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED PROBABLY DUE TO THE WEATHER ?? LOOKING AT NUMEROUS WEBSITES THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD ESCAPE, ALONG WITH THE ACCELERATOR STICKING . I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, SPOKE TO A REP & TWO SUPERVISORS, WHO ALL REFUSE ANY TYPE OF COMPENSATION FOR TWO KNOWN ISSUES OF THE MANUFACTURER DEFECTS SINCE THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL FOR THE 2007 MODEL. AS A CONSUMER I AM OUTRAGED THAT FORD WILL NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT FOR A LOYAL FORD CUSTOMER .IT IS DECEMBER 28,2010 , AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY CAR BACK AS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP . THE PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT ON ALL THE 2007 MODELS, FORD, PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR CUSTOMERS. MY TOTAL REPAIR BILL WILL BE $450-$600 , DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS FROM FORD . *TR
WHILE BACKING UP OUT OF GARAGE, THE GAS PEDAL STUCK. WHEN COLDER OUT, I HAVE TO FORCEFULLY ACCELERATOR FROM AN IDLE OR PARKED POSITION.
