TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MPH, THERE WAS A POWER STEERING FAILURE AND SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BY APPLYING FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND LATER RESTARTED, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR AND THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,500. THE POWER STEERING FAILS CONSTANTLY, LOOKED UP AND FOUND PLENTY OF RECALL INFORMATION ON IT. TAKE IT TO DEALERASE AND THEY SAY NO RECALL, ALTHOUGH IT MATCHES EVERYTHING IN THE RECALL I'M CURRENTLY LOOKING AT ON THIS WEBSITE. THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. CALLED THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE AND WAS GIVEN THE SAME INFO.
WHILE ACCELERATING, CLUNKING NOISES HEARD IN THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN AT 80 KILOMETERS AN HOUR, SPEED WAS SUDDENLY REDUCED TO APPROXIMATELY 30 KPH.. CAUSING A SUDDEN DECELERATION ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO FORD, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THE VEHICLE.. IT COST ME OVER $1000. TO REPLACE THE PCM.. THIS IS A DIRECT SAFETY ISSUE.. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BECAUSE OF A FAULTY PART. THE MECHANIC AT THE FORD DEALER INFORMED ME THE PROBLEM EXISTS BECAUSE THE PCM IS PLACED IN THE MAIN ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND IN A COLD AND DAMP ENVIRONMENT, FAILS REGULARLY. THEY REPLACE THESE PCM'S WEEKLY.. SO IT IS NOT JUST A PROBLEM FOR ME, IT IS A MONEY MAKER FOR FORD. THIS NEEDS TO BE CLASSIFIED AS A RECALL ISSUE AND REPAIRED..
ESCAPE WAS IMPACTED FROM BEHIND BY A 2012 FORD F150 AT THAT WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. AS THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT PUSHED ME (THE DRIVER) BACK INTO THE DRIVER SEAT THE SEAT BROKE.
POWER STEERIN ASSIST FAULT WARNING CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. I PULLED OVER TO SEE WHAT THAT MENT IN MY VEHICLE MANUAL. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR BACK UP I COULD NOT MANAGE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE AND HAD THE CAR TOWED. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM,(STEERING TORQUE SENSOR), YET FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT HONOR IT WITH MY CAR, SINCE IT IS NOT LISTED ON THE RECALL LIST.
THE VEHILCLE WENT INTO A MODE WHERE IT WAS ABLE TO KEEP THROTTLING AND WAS ABOUT TO STALL. IT WOULD THROTTLE UP AND DOWN ON ITS OWN WHILE MOVING. POWERING OFF THE VEHICLE CORRECTED THE ISSUE FOR THE TIME BEING.
WHILE IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE CAR JOLTED AND THE ENGINE PROVIDED NO POWER THE THE WHEELS AND THE WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AFTER A SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME THE CAR JOLTED AGAIN AND POWER WAS RESTORED TO THE WHEELS. WHEN CAR FINALLY STOPPED AND TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN REVERSE WOULD NOT WORK. AFTER TAKING THE CAR IN TO A FORD SERVICE STATION, THE TRANSMISSION WAS FOUND TO BE STUCK IN FIFTH GEAR AND CHUNKS OF THE TRANSMISSION WERE FOUND INSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH RESULTED IN THE NEED FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION..
WHILE DRIVING MY WIFE'S 2010 FORD ESCAPE IN ON I40 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION AND THE "WRENCH" CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. EVERYTHING ELSE WITH THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO BE FUNCTIONING OK HOWEVER I COULD NOT ACCELERATE OR MAINTAIN THE SPEED AT WHICH I HAD BEEN TRAVELING. THIS WAS DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON 10/29/15 WITH MY WIFE AND A COWORKER IN THE VEHICLE. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT HOWEVER THE PROBLEM PERSISTED THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD, UNTIL 20 OR SO MINUTES LATER. I DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME AND HAD THE ENGINE ERROR CODES READ CODE P2112 THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR SYSTEMS CLOSED SHUT ERROR APPEARED. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC MY WIFE COWORKER AND SELF COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE BOTH POWER WINDOW REGULATORS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST STEERING POWER AND THE POWER ASSIST FAILURE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO A PARKING LOT AND CALLED A LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE POWER STEERING ANGLE SENSOR WAS REPLACED. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL FELT WEIRD AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,415.
VEHICLE ACTS AS IF IT IS GOING TO STALL BUT THEM JUMPS FORWARD. BOTH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE SERVICE WRENCH WENT ON. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS CODE P2119, THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL AND THROTTLE BODY RANGE/PERFORMANCE. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT I DIDN'T NEED TO GET IT FIXED RIGHT AWAY. SEEMS A LITTLE DANGEROUS TO ME.
UPON VEHICLE INSPECTION WITH CERTIFIED AUTO DEALER- THE VEHICLE HAS EXTREME CORROSION IN UNDER BODY PART - CONTROL ARMS - DANGEROUS SEPARATION. PER REVIEWING THE NHTSA RECORDS SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED IN APPROVED REGIONS DUE TO ACCIDENTS CAUSING DEATHS DUE TO SEPARATION OF CONTROL ARMS CORROSION. THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALL VEHICLES IN THE COLD WEATHER REGIONS AFFECTED FOR SAFETY!

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID RESTART AFTER THE INITIAL ATTEMPT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. MY CAR SOMETIMES SUDDENLY JUST LOSING POWER. I COULD GET KILLED ON THE FREEWAY. FROM RESEARCHING A BIT I SEE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO TIME IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS. ONCE AS WE GET GETTING READY TO GET ON THE FREEWAY AND THE SECOND TIME AS WE WERE CROSSING A BUSY INTERSECTION, LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO GET ACROSS THE ROAD WITHOUT GETTING HIT. I AM AFRAID I HAVE BOUGHT AN UNSAFE CAR.
RIGHT REAR WINDOW SUDDENLY DROPPED DOWN AND DOES NOT WORK. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE "CABLE BURNED OUT." A FEW MONTHS LATER THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW, DID THE EXACT SAME THING. VEHICLE WAS PARKED BOTH TIMES. STATIONARY.
MY VEHICLE IS DISPLAYING THE ELECTRIC STEERING ASSIST FAILURE WARNING AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS SHUDDERING AT ALL SPEEDS. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO PUSHES BACK AT TIMES. PROBLEM STARTED AT 115,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD EXTENSIVE COMMUNICATION WITH FMC AND THEY STEADFASTLY REFUSED TO ADMIT ANY LIABILITY. THEY SAY THAT THEY WILL NEVER FIX THIS ISSUE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES UNLESS THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FORCES THEM TO DO SO. THEY SUGGEST THAT I HAVE A DEALER FIX IT AT MY EXPENSE. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTS OF INSTANTANEOUS FAILURES RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL. THIS IS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH ALL SECOND GENERATION ESCAPES. OVER 1 MILLION FORD VEHICLES HAVE THE FAULTY COMPONENTS. FORD IS STONEWALLING THE PROBLEM IN AN ATTEMPT TO AVOID THE MULTI BILLION DOLLAR TAB. YOU MUST ACT QUICKLY! MOST OF US DO NOT HAVE $1500 TO REPLACE THE ELECTRIC STEERING UNIT. MANY WILL CONTINUE TO DRIVE AND ENDANGER OTHERS IN RAPIDLY INCREASING NUMBERS. I CAN SEND MY COMMUNICATION WITH FMC.
I HAD THE RECALL 14S05C DONE IN FEBRUARY TO "FIX" THE POTENTIAL ELECTRIC POWER STEERING PROBLEM BY REPROGRAMMING THE PSCM AND IPC MODULES. NOW IN SEPTEMBER I STARTED MY CAR AND THE STEERING JUST STOPPED WORKING. TOWED IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE STEERING COLUMN AND POWER STEERING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR A COST OF $1,350. I SURE HOPE FORD WILL PAY FOR THIS. I MEAN, WHAT'S THE POINT OF A RECALL SERVICE IF IT DOESN'T FIX THE PROBLEM.
I HAD BEEN DRIVING, THEN MADE A BRIEF STOP. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR AND PUT IN "DRIVE" TO BEGIN DRIVING, MY POWER STEERING WAS OUT. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY ABOUT 1.5 MILES AWAY. I MANAGED TO GET HOME BUT HAD THE CAR TOWED TO NORTHGATE FORD IN CINCINNATI, OH THE NEXT MORNING. AFTER 3 DAYS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY CALLED TO SAY THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I KNOW THAT OTHER FORD ESCAPES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT, BUT CHECKED MY VIN AND MINE WAS NOT INVOLVED......YET! TWO MONTHS LATER, I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR CONTINUING DIFFICULTY WITH STARTING (NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN FOR ABOUT 10 TURNS OF THE KEY, THEN IMMEDIATELY WOULD START) AND INABILITY TO UNLOCK/LOCK CAR WITH FOB DESPITE CHANGING BATTERY. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER, CYLINDER MODULE AND BOLT. SUDDENLY THE CAR BOTH STARTED RIGHT AWAY AND THE REMOTE KEY FOB WORKED AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE HESITATED BEFORE MOVING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE BECAME WORSE OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FIFTH GEAR HAD BECOME INOPERABLE AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE KEPT FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILED TO RESPOND SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR SEVERAL REPAIRS AND THE CONDITION CONTINUED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL FAILING TO RESPOND WHEN APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE CONDITION WAS COMMON AND THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY TOOL LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR LOST POWER. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF CAR. RESTARTED CAR AND LIGHT WAS OFF THEN CAR DROVE FINE. TOOK MY CAR INTO BICKFORD FFORD AND WAS TOLD THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE LIGHT WASN'T ON SO THEY CAN'T GET A CODE. HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO GET GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THROTTLE BODY ISSUES IF THE LIGHT GOES AWAY WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF? I CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR WHEN THIS HAPPENS SO HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO GET THIS COVERED BY FORD? I'M SUPPOSE TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH UNSAFE CONDITIONS UNTIL IT PERMANENTLY BREAKS DOWN? SEEMS LIKE A SCAM.
ON AUGUST 31, 2015 I WAS LEAVING AN AIRPORT AND ACCELERATING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY. I BELIEVE I WAS CLOSE TO 60MPH WHEN I FELT SOMETHING IN MY CAR CHANGE. ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS WERE STILL WORKING, SO I KNEW IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE WITH MY BATTERY. THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED AND I REALIZED I WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCELERATE. I IMMEDIATELY GOT OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE AND BY THIS TIME MY SPEED HAD DROPPED TO 40MPH. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER AND PUT MY CAR INTO PARK. THE RPMS SPIKED AND I TURNED MY CAR OFF. AFTER WAITING A MINUTE OR SO I WAS ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR WITH NO PROBLEM. I GOT BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND TOOK MY EXIT. MAYBE 5-7 MILES FROM THE LOCATION OF THE FIRST INCIDENT, I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH DOWN A 2-LANE STREET WHEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME BOTH THE WRENCH LIGHT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WERE ON. ONCE AGAIN I PULLED OVER, PUT MY CAR INTO PARK, THE RPM'S SPIKED HIGHER THIS TIME. I SHUT MY CAR OFF. I WAS AGAIN ABLE TO RESTART MY CAR RIGHT AWAY WITH NO PROBLEM. IN THE 9 DAYS SINCE THIS HAPPENED I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AGAIN. I AM EXTREMELY NERVOUS MY ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF ON A HIGHWAY AGAIN, IN A LOCATION WHERE I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY SAID MY WARRANTY COVERS THE THROTTLE BODY, SO THEY HAVE SCHEDULED THE THROTTLE BODY REPAIR FOR SEPTEMBER 11, 2015. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, AND I THINK FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL DRIVERS.
THE PROBLEM DEMONSTRATED AS I LEFT THE SHOPPING CENTER AND MADE THE FIRST TURN ONTO THE STREET. THE ENGINE WAS VERY ROUGH AND NOT CONSISTENT, THE SPEED VARIED FROM 20 - 40 MILES PER HR WITHOUT ANY PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR. AS I CAME TO A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT I HAD ALMOST NO BRAKE PRESSURE AND PREPARED TO TURN INTO A SCHOOL PARKING LOT. THIS OCCURRED IN THE FIRST HALF MILE OF COUNTRY ROAD; AS I REALIZED I HAD NO BRAKING POWER I TURNED INTO A PARK LOT AND CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS LITTLE TRAFFIC THAT EVENING. THIS PRODUCED UNNECESSARY ANXIETY FOR ME EVEN THOUGH I WAS CLOSE TO HOME. OUR MECHANIC CHECKED MANY THINGS, FINALLY DECIDING IT WAS DIAGNOSTIC CODES PO306, PO316, PO109, PO 300, AND PO304. FORD TELLS ME THIS IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. ONCE AGAIN I FELT THIS PROBLEM PLACED ME IN A POTENTIALLY LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION FOR ME AS THE THROTTLE BODY HAD DONE PREVIOUSLY (BEFORE THE RECALL). I HAVE NEARLY 3 COMPUTER PAGES OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE, RANGING FROM SEAT BELT LATCHES, REAR SEAT LATCHES, HATCH LATCH AND DEFROSTER, QUARTER PANEL PAINT DEFECT AND RUST, FAN SPEED AND EFFECTIVENESS. THIS LATEST INCIDENT AND THE THROTTLE BODY ISSUES ARE THE MOST SERIOUS. TONIGHT FORD INFORMED ME THERE IS NO FORD COMPLAINT FORM ONLINE. I WAS ADAMANT THAT A FORD ENGINEER NEEDS TO CALL ME SO I CAN DISCUSS ALL THE ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. TRADE IN VALUE ON THIS VEHICLE HAS PROBABLY PLUMMETED DUE TO ALL THE ISSUES. THIS VEHICLE WAS PAID OFF IN 3 YEARS AND I AM NOT IN A POSITION TO BUY A NEW VEHICLE BUT I HOPE IT WILL NOT BE THE DEATH OF ME. IN THE INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY I HOPE THESE PROBLEMS CAN BE RESOLVED. TELL US WHAT HAPPENED: WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED AND TOOK OFF SLIGHTLY PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND IT FELT LIKE IT TRIED TO STALL OUT AND THEN LUNGED FORWARD. THE SERVICE WRENCH CAME ON AND WE STOPPED AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF THEN STARTED IT AGAIN AND THAT TIME BOTH SERVICE WRENCH AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WENT IN TO GET THE ENGINE LIGHT TESTED AND THE RESULT WAS THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL AND THROTTLE BODY RANGE, CODE P2119
WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AND FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE ENGINE COMPLETELY LOOSES POWER. WHEN I PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IT WILL SIT THERE AND ACT AS IF IT IS STARVING FOR FUEL. I PUT IT IN PARK AND I TRY TO GIVE IT GAS AND THERE IS NO RESPONSE. I WILL SHUT IT OFF AND RE-START AND IT WILL BE FIND IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN 5 OR 10 MILES DOWN THE ROAD OR IT MIGHT NOT TILL THE NEXT DAY. THE FIRST FEW TIME IT HAPPEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON BUT NOW IT IS AND HAS STAYED ON. BUT I ALSO SEE THIS APPEARS TO BE FOR 4CYL ENGINES WHEREAS MINE IS A 6 CYL.
WHEN A DRIVER WAS TRAVELLING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, THE HOOD FLEW UP ON THIS VEHICLE THAT WE USE FOR A COMPANY VEHICLE. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO ANOTHER FORD ESCAPE THE COMPANY HAS, YEAR 2006, THAT I ALSO FILED A COMPLAIN ON AS IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH NO CURRENT RECALL.
I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND MY CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF. WHEN I REALIZED THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED GREEN I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BREAK AND ON THE GAS BEFORE I REALIZED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING. I PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE BREAK, PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED ON MY HAZARDS AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. AFTER 3-4 TRIES I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. THIS WAS VERY SCARY BECAUSE I WAS IN LA COUNTY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AT THE TIME AND THERE WAS NO WAY FOR ME TO PULL OVER SINCE THE CAR STALLED WHILE I WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WITH NO ENGINE POWER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD ESCAPE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK ROTTED OUT AND THE EVAP VALVE WAS DEFECTIVE. AS A RESULT, BOTH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.
I HAD MY ESCAPE IN FOR THE RECALL TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY UPDATED IN 8/6/2014. AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL I HAD NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE. 1 YEAR LATER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I LOST ACCELERATION, MY CRUISE WENT OFF AND THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, PULLED OVER AND STARTED IT UP AGAIN,NO WRENCH LIGHT. HAPPENS AGAIN. ALSO WHEN I SLOW DOWN AND STOP FOR LIGHTS, STOP SIGN THE RPMS GO UP AND DOWN LIKE IT'S GOING TO KILL. WHEN CAME OUT OF STORE AND STARTED THE TRUCK THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. CALLED MY HUSBAND AND HE HAD ME LOOK FOR THE FILL RESERVOIR FOR THE POWER STEERING AND CHECK THE BELT. HE DETERMINED THAT IT IS A CLOSED SYSTEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE THEN. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN I START IT NOT WHILE I AM DRIVING. I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE IT THAT WAY AS IT IS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION. LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND DISCOVERED THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THE MANUFACTURERS DATE WAS ONLY THROUGH 09/2010. MINE IS 01/2011. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY CANNOT DO IT AS A RECALL BECAUSE MINE IS NOT ON THE LIST. EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE EARLIER ONES. FORD TOLD ME TO SAVE MY RECEIPTS IN CASE THERE WAS A RECALL AND TOLD ME I HAD TO CONTACT NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I AM AFRAID IT WILL START TO HAPPEN WHILE I AM DRIVING AND CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED. THEY NEED TO EXTEND THE RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.
AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, AN ALARM WENT OFF, AND THEN THE CAR RETURNED TO NORMAL STEERING AGAIN. HAS HAPPENED QUITE A FEW TIMES AND HAVE BROUGHT IT TO FORD AND STILL HAPPENED AFTERWARDS UNTIL THIS LAST TIME MY POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT COMPLETELY ON A 7HR DRIVE HOME WITH A BABY IN THE BACK SEAT.
THE TAIL GATE AND REAR PASSENGER DOOR HAVE EXTENSIVE RUST. THE TAIL GATE HAS RUSTED TO THE POINT WHERE IT CANNOT BE REPAIRED ACCORDING TO THE LOCAL FORD BODY SHOP.
WE LOST POWER FROM OUR GAS PEDAL. THEN IT GOT HOT. THEN IT WOULD NOT MOVE.
MY FAN DID NOT OPERATE ON THE NORMAL #1 SETTING BUT OK ON THE OTHER SETTINGS. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO REPAIR IT I WAS TOLD A BOARD WENT OUT THAT CAUSED THE FAILURE, THE CAUSE OF THAT WAS FROM CONDENSATION FROM THE AC TUBING DRIPPING ON ANOTHER BOARD AND CAUSED BOTH BOARDS TO GO OUT. THEY HAD TO REPLACE BOTH BOARDS AND REROUTE THE AC LINE SO IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I PAID $954.06 FOR POOR DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION.
I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, WITH THE BRAKE ENGAGED, AND MY CAR LUNGED FORWARD INTO THE CAR AHEAD OF ME, DAMAGING IT'S LIFTGATE (MINIVAN) AND BUMPER. I INITIALLY THOUGHT SOMEONE MUST HAVE REAR-ENDED MY CAR, PUSHING ME INTO THE OTHER CAR, BUT I WAS NOT HIT FROM BEHIND. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME. I AM CONCERNED THIS MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN, INJURING SOMEONE POSSIBLY IN A CROSSWALK, OR LUNGING ME INTO CROSS TRAFFIC.

AN HOUR LATER A "WRENCH" LIGHT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I RECEIVED A COMPUTER DIAGNOSIS AND IT CAME BACK THAT THE THROTTLE BODY ACTUATOR WAS BAD. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED YESTERDAY MORNING BECAUSE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN.

IN JULY 2015 AFTER LEAVING GOLF MILL FORD IN NILES, IL. FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION I DROVE THROUGH SOME CONSTRUCTION MUD AND GOT HOME TO CLEAN THE MUD AND NOTICED RUST ABOVE THE TIRE ON MY PASSENGER REAR WHEEL WELL, WHERE I WOULD HAVE NEVER LOOKED OTHERWISE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WENT BACK AND THEY PUT A CLAIM TO FORD. AFTER ONE MONTH FORD CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT BECAUSE IT WAS PAST 5YRS THAT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING. IT COULD HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE 5 YEARS BECAUSE IT'S A PLACE WHERE MOST CAR OWNERS DON'T LOOK. AFTER RESEARCHING ON SOCIAL MEDIA I SEE THAT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF FORD ESCAPE OWNERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEM. THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT FORD FAILED TO MAKE THESE VEHICLES PROPERLY AND THEY SHOULD DO A RECALL ON ALL THESE VEHICLES AND STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLES, WASHING AND DOING REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND IT IS ALSO GARAGE KEPT ALWAYS. I AM UTTERLY UPSET WITH FORD BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST IGNORING IT AND DON'T CARE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. THE CARS MADE IN RECENT YEARS SHOULD NEVER HAVE RUST IN THAT SHORT OF TIME. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, WE WERE ON OUR WAY TO A FUNERAL, AN HOUR AWAY, DRIVING OUR 2010 ESCAPE ABOUT 55 MPH. EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND THEN THE CAR JERKED, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON - HAD NO ACCELERATION, NO POWER STEERING, NO CONTROL. IT WAS SCARY! LUCKILY, MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND SAID A PRAYER OF THANKS! CAR STARTED BACK UP AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES, ALTHOUGH NOT EASILY. DID THE SAME THING ON OUR WAY BACK HOME. SUFFICE IT TO SAY, THIS PROBLEM CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. FOUND OUT THE CAR IS GOING INTO "SAFE MODE". MY HUSBAND DRIVES AN HOUR TO WORK (EACH WAY), ALL HIGHWAY, APPROX. 70-75 MPH AND ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH HIS COMMUTE, THE PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN. HE HAS TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE OTHER DRIVERS AND FIND A SAFE SPOT TO PARK. NOT ALWAYS AN EASY TASK ON THE HIGHWAY. TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM AND OTHER RECALL WORK (14S05 AND 13B17). THEY TOLD US THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUES. THE NEXT DAY, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND SAME PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS, ALTHOUGH NOW THE CAR DRIVES IN A LOWER GEAR AND EVENTUALLY YOU CAN ACCELERATE, BUT NOT QUICKLY. STILL NOT SAFE ON THE HIGHWAY. FOUND OUT TODAY, DEALERSHIP WILL LOOK AT THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE FOR $70 TO SEE IF THERE IS A PROBLEM. RIDICULOUS!! THEY AREN'T THE ONES IN AN UNSAFE CAR!

ITS AN AWFUL FEELING WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING ON A CURB AT 60 MPH AND SUDDENLY YOUR CAR ACCELERATES. DON'T WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE GETS HURT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. MY CAR CUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING & WHEN I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT. THE CAR CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION (COMPLETELY LOSING ALL POWER) A LARGE SUV SWERVED TO PREVENT FROM HITTING ME. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE VIC BAILEY FORD, THEY KEPT MY CAR ON & OFF FOR 5 DAYS. CHARGING ME $98 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST (THAT THEY STATED REVEALED NOTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM) & THEN THEY TURNED AROUND & CHARGED ME $130 FOR A NEW BATTERY, THE CAR CONTINUED TO CUT OFF ON ME. THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR ANOTHER 3 DAYS. FINALLY THEY CALLED ME & TOLD ME TO COME PICK UP THE CAR. THE SERVICE DEPT. STATED THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG W/ THE CAR, BUT THEY KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG W/ IT. THEY TOLD ME TO WAIT TIL THE PROBLEM GOT WORST. THEY SENT ME HOME W/ A CAR THAT CUTS OFF CONSTANTLY, THEY DON'T CARE THAT I NEED TO DRIVE A DEPENDABLE CAR.
THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, I HAD TO SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND PLACE THE CAR IN PARK TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER CAR. THESE 2010 FORD CAR IS VERY DANGEROUS AND VERY HARMFUL TO ANYONE WHO DRIVES IT.

RADIO VOLUME SPEED COMPENSATION STOPPED WORKING, A/C COMPRESSOR SHUT DOWN, FAN STAYED RUNNING. DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER WAS READING ____MILES TO E, FUEL LEVEL LOW. AFTER A FEW MORE MINUTES, THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, AND NEW MESSAGE ALTERNATED ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT. THEN IT JUST AS SUDDENLY, WENT BACK TO NORMAL. NOW THE SAME THING REPEATS REPEATS ON AND OFF ALMOST EVERY 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING OR SO. WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS ON INTERNET I FIND THIS PROBLEM IS SO COMMON THERE IS A COMPANY ADVERTISING MAIL ORDER REPAIRS FOR $199.00 PROBLEM IS COLD SOLDER JOINTS ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SEEMED TO STALL. THE 'WRENCH' LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT ONLY MOVING AT IDLE SPEED. PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR DID NOTHING, THE ENGINE KEPT STAYED AT IDLE. I PULLED OVER AND THEN TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THE CAR RESTARTED AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS OFF. I ACCELERATED UP TO STREET SPEED (30-35 MPH) AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I AGAIN PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. THIS TIME THE WRENCH LIGHT WENT OFF BUT THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR WHERE I NEEDED TO GO BY KEEPING IT UNDER 30 MPH. I DID MAKE IT TO A AUTO-PARTS STORE AND THEY WERE ABLE TO HOOK UP A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE TO GIVE ME THE P2111 TROUBLE CODE, THROTTLE BODY STUCK OPEN. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE UP TO 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO ISSUES AND LATER WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65-70 MPH. NOTHING MORE HAPPENED OVER THE NEXT WEEK BUT ON MY WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING, 6/8, THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED 5 TIMES ON MY WAY TO WORK. THE CAR WOULD JUST SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND THE ENGINE WOULD ONLY RUN AT IDLE SPEED. THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON EACH TIME. I WOULD PULL OVER AND STOP, AS TURNING OFF THE CAR WHILE COASTING AND THEN RESTARTING DID NOT SEEM TO 'RESET' THE CAR. WHEN IT RESTARTED, THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS GONE BUT IT CAME BACK ON AND THE CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. AFTER THE THIRD TIME, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND IT HAPPENED TWICE MORE AFTER THAT. *TR
