THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB MAXEY FORD, INC. (1833 E JEFFERSON AVE, DETROIT, MI 48207, (313) 392-9200) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING), ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE THE SAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000. *TT*JB

WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE WHEELS SHOOK AND AFFECTED THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,500.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
CAR JERKS,LAGS,BUCKS ON ACCELERATION. DOES NOT SHIFT SMOOTHLY. DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL THE TIME.
FRAME FAILURE, "K" FRAME SUPPORTING THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION AND STEERING COMPONENTS FRACTURED MAKING THE VEHICLE UNDRIVEABLE. THIS ISSUE WAS A RECALL ON 2001-2004 ESCAPES.
2011 FORD ESCAPE XLT 3.0L EXPERIENCED POWER STEERING FAILURE WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND IN MOTION TWICE IN PAST 12 MONTHS. VEHICLE WAS OPERATED ON A CITY STREET AND BOTH INSTANCES WERE SPONTANEOUS. VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED AFTER 10 MINUTES. POWER STEERING RESUMED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT BOTH TIMES.
SUSPENSIONS ON BACK WHEELS MAKES A TAPPING SOUND AND AFFECTS THE SPRINGS OF THE BALANCE OF THE SUV, CAUSING THE TIRES TO TO WEAR OUT OR DOWN INCONSISTENTLY. POSSIBLY CAUSING TIRES OR STEERING WHEEL TO CAUSE ACCIDENT.
REAR WINDOW LIFT GATE HINGE BROKE WHEN CLOSED WHILE STATIONARY IN DRIVEWAY.

MY SCAPE 2011 SUDDENLY LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST WHILE I AM DRIVING, I WAS INVESTIGATION AND I FOUND A RECALL NUMBER: 14S05 ' ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FOR CERTAIN MODELS 2008- 2011 FORD ESCAPE, THE ISSUE HERE IS THAT ONLY CERTAIN MODELS WHERE RECALLED FOR DEALER REVISION AND MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE PROGRAM, SO THERE ARE OTHER MODELS WITH SAME PROBLEM FORD SHOULD OPEN THE PROGRAM FOR OTHER ESCAPE MODELS, LOSSING STEERING ASSIST COULD INCREASE RISK OF AN ACCIDENT
ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IS OUT JUST LIKE THE RECALLED FORD ESCAPES FROM 08-11 RECALL. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN IN TOWN AND MAKING TURNS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. VEHICLE WAS DRIVING ON BUSY ROADS IN THE CITY AND BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN.

THIS VEHICLE IS BUCKING AND JOLTING GOING UPHILL ON A LEVEL SURFACE. IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HAS HIT ME FROM BEHIND. IT IS NOT NOT SHIFTING AT ALL THE WAY IT IS SUPPOSE TO. THERE ARE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME YEAR AND MODEL VEHICLE WITH THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS. THIS IS NOT VIN.RELATED IN ANY SENSE. THIS IS A ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE.

POWER STEERING KEEPS FAILING. WOULD GO OUT ANYTIME, TURNING, TRAVELING DOWN FREEWAY , STREET, ANYWHERE . NEVER KOW WHEN IT WOULD HAPPEN. WOULD PULL OVER, TURN OFF CAR THEN START IT UP AGAIN. AND IT WOULD WORK AGAIN IT STARTED IN MAY AND FORD SAID IT HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING ON 2011 FORD ESCAPES BUT BECAUSE MY CAR WAS NOT MADE IN KANSAS CITY IT WASNT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING, FAILED.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, I NOTICED THAT THE FORD EMBLEM ON MY STEERING WHEEL WAS OFF CENTER, THEREFORE MAKING MY CAR OUT OF ALIGNMENT BUT I HAD NO IDEA HOW THIS HAD HAPPENED. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING MY CAR INTO TOWN FAIR TIRE TO GET IT REALIGNED BUT WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULDN'T DO IT BECAUSE MY ENGINE CRADLE WAS EXTREMELY RUSTED SO I WOULD NEED TO HAVE THAT ADDRESSED AT A MECHANIC. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY PULLED THE VEHICLE SAFETY CHECK THEY DID ON MY VEHICLE FROM THE YEAR BEFORE WHEN THEY CHANGED MY TIRES AND THERE WERE NO ISSUES SO THIS WAS VERY ODD TO THEM AS WELL AS TO HOW THIS COULD'VE HAPPENED. I NEXT BROUGHT IT INTO MY MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THAT IN ORDER TO FIX THE ISSUE MY ENTIRE FRONT END FRAME WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. $1600 LATER, MY VEHICLE IS BACK IN LINE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS CLAIMING THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH THEY DID HAVE RECALLS ON THE 2005 ESCAPES FOR THIS SAME REASON. I'M LUCKY I NOTICED AND ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS HAPPENED LIKE MY ENGINE DROPPING OUT OF MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY OR SOMETHING. MY VEHICLE ISN'T THAT OLD AND ONLY HAS 81000 MILES ON IT. SOMETHING SEEMS OFF.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHEN BACKING UP. INFORMED BY DEAN SELLERS FORD IN TROY , MICHIGAN THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR FAILED AND IT WOULD COST ME 1400 DOLLARS TO GET IT FIXED AND UNLIKE OTHER ESCAPES FROM THE SAME YEAR WITH A SIMILAR PROBLEM, MINE IN NOT UNDER RECALL. THIS DOES NOT SEEM RIGHT. HAVE ALWAYS OWNED FORDS AND STEPFATHER WORKED FOR THEM FOR 30+ YEARS. HOPE THAT FORD WILL STAND BY ITS PRODUCT. HAVE 110,000 MILES ON IT AND WE WERE HOPING FOR MORE.

THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: CAS14691951. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TAKATA RECALL- WHILE DRIVING THROUGH MY NEIGHBORHOOD AT 20MPH I LOST COMPLETE POWER STEERING IN MY VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH AND HAVING THE REPAIR FIXED, IT WAS STATED THAT THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR WENT OUT AND WAS UNABLE TO DETECT DRIVER STEERING INPUT. ALIGNING WITH THE CURRENT RECALL 14S05. BECAUSE MY VIN IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL FORD IS NOT WILLING TO COVER THE REPAIR COST.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD DEC 2016 REFERENCING NHTSA SAFETY RECALL 16V-777. AUG 2017 I STILL HADN'T HEARD ANYTHING SO I ASKED FORD WHAT WAS GOING ON USING FORD WEBSITE LIVE CHAT. EBONEE SAID PARTS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. JAN 2018 GOT ANOTHER LETTER SAYING PARTS NOW AVAILABLE. CALLED DEALERSHIP THEN AND AGAIN TODAY 4/11/18 & THEY SAID STILL NOT AVAILABLE. VERY FRUSTRATED AND CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN DUE TO POSSIBLE FUEL LEAK. WE WANT THIS FIXED BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO HELP.

THE CONTACT POWERED OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT OPERATED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CHAMPION FORD VOLVO (2502 W 26TH ST, ERIE, PA 16506, (814) 878-2500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I RECEIVED A RECALL ON MY 2011 ESCAPE IN LATE 2016 INFORMING ME ABOUT AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME, INFORMING THEM THAT I HAD BEEN NOTICING FUEL SMELLS, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REMEDY THE ISSUE, OR PERFORM THE RECALL. IN JANUARY OF 2018 I RECEIVED ANOTHER LETTER SAYING THAT PARTS ARE NOW AVAILABLE TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE, BUT AS OF APRIL, TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS STILL SAY THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE NECESSARY PARTS FOR THE REPAIR. THE SAFETY RECALL IS 16S41/NHTSA RECALL 16V-777. BASED ON THE SAFETY IMPLICATIONS OF THIS RECALL, IT SEEMS THAT FORD IS BEING VERY SLOW IN DELIVERING PARTS TO THE DEALERSHIPS TO MAKE THIS REPAIR.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME MORE DIFFICULT TO TURN AND WOULD JERK AND VIBRATE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FAULTY, BUT THE EXACT FAILURE WAS NOT IDENTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY DIAGNOSED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING), BUT NO FAILURES WERE FOUND AT THE TIME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED AND THE 'POWER STEERING ASSIST DEFAULT" MESSAGE APPEARED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE JERKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL HAD GOTTEN WORSE IN THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS, TO THE POINT THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER (BOB CHAPMAN FORD, 1255 COLUMBUS AVENUE MARYSVILLE, OHIO 43040) ON OCTOBER 16, 2016 FOR THE SAME FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 174,000.

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JANUARY 2018. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER IN DANBURY, CT TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE. THEY ADVISED THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PART AND ARE WAITING. I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN 3/23/18 AND AM TOLD THEY STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE PARTS NEEDED. THE NHTSA WEBSITE INDICATES THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE BUT I AM TOLD I HAVE TO WAIT.

THE LAST TIME THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANOTHER DATE FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT PROVIDING PARTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
BEGINNING FEBRUARY 16, 2018 I BEGAN EXPERIENCING VIBRATION AND BOUNCING OF STEERING WHEEL EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I ADDITION TO STEERING CONCERN - ELECTRICAL SYSTEM APPEARS TO BE SHORTING OUT AFFECTING THE DASH ELECTRONICS SUCH AS INDICATOR LIGHTS ON DASH, RADIO OPERATION AND DOOR LOCKS. THE STEERING MALFUNCTION BECAME STEADILY WORSE TO THE POINT THAT IN EARLY MARCH 2018 I BEGAN INQUIRING ON VEHICLE RECALLS. IN SPEAKING TO FORD WAS ADVISED THAT A STEERING UNIT RECALL WAS ISSUED BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED. FURTHER COMMUNICATION WITH FORD IDENTIFIED THE POSSIBILITY THAT A CLERICAL ERROR OCCURRED WHICH FAILED TO INCLUDE MY VIN TO THE RECALL AS MY VEHICLE STICKER DID NOT IDENTIFY THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE ONLY THE MONTH AND YEAR. MORE TELEPHONE CALLS WITH FORD IDENTIFIED MY 2011 FORD ESCAPE AS BEING MANUFACTURED ON 09/09/2010 AND WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. CONVERSATIONS SINCE 2/16/18 YIELDED THAT MOJAVE AUTO GROUP PERFORMED A SOFTWARE RESET IN DECEMBER 2014 RATHER THAN REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING UNIT. WHEN I BEGAN SPEAKING WITH FORD AND NHTSA THE VEHICLE WAS STILL OPERATIONAL. ON 3/6/18 MOJAVE AUTO GROUP HAS INSPECTED MY VEHICLE AND WRITTEN UP THE POWER ASSIST FAILURE AND FOUND THE STEERING COLUMN BAD AND NEEDING REPLACEMENT. INFORMATION ON MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED WITHIN THE MOJAVE AUTO GROUP SYSTEM UNDER SO#605329
