Vehicle will not start after fueling. Takes up to 20 minutes delay to start vehicle after filling tank with fuel. Not a single incident. Has happened every time I have fueled the vehicle over the course of several months. Mechanic stated it is an emissions problem with this model vehicle, but there is no recall issued.
Massive leak at Turbo hose, would of blown my engine if I didn’t catch the massive oil leak. Was informed Ford changed the hose from rubber to steel. Won’t do a recall on it.
I HAVE A 2013 Ford Escape THAT HAS HAD TO HAVE A NEW TRANSMISSION DUE TO ITS SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED AND WITH NO WARNING FAILURE. 6000 AT FORD DEALERSHIP. THEN THE PROBLEMS WITH COOLANT STARTED. IT WOULD SUDDENLY START OVERHEATING, AND START STALLING . DROPPED DOWN TO TWO MILE AND HOUR TILL YOU LIMP OFF THE ROAD. HAVE TO CONSTANTLY CHECK IT. WILL BE FINE AND THEN SUDDENLY START LEAKING AGAIN. REPLACED COOLANT CAP, COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK, NEW HOSE FOR COOLANT TANK, COOLANT HOSE THAT INSERTS INTO REAR OF ENGINE, STAND PIPE AND BYPASS VALVE.
Fuel leak, with smell of gasoline filling the cabin. Leak was in the engine compartment. After car was towed I saw about 7-8 oz of gasoline pooled on my carport. Due to gas being flammable, I had the car towed in. Dealer says it needs a new fuel line for $505. Had someone lit a match, my house could have been set on fire. Also, since the leak was so strong, what if there was a short in any of the electronics? Again, major risk of fire.
The contact owned a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at 75 mph, a deer unexpectedly ran across the freeway. As a result, the vehicle ran into the deer. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. There were no injuries sustained but the contact suffered a sore back. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to their home address. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic as a total loss. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 106,200.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact’s daughter stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle started to overheat and stalled. The emergency shutdown message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact that the Vin was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to start with black smoke coming from the exhaust. The vehicle was towed and diagnosed with needing a new engine. The vehicle has not been repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V551000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the Vin was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the Vin was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Coolant has been leaking from vehicle over the course of a month and a half. Fill reservoir only to have to refill within a week to two weeks with coolant.
I just bought this vehicle less than 3 months ago, and now it’s stuttering when I start it. It also stalls while driving.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Loud noise from blower motor and no airflow from vents. Vehicle is available for inspection if needed. I believe this is related to the issue identified here: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2017/SB-10099087-2532.pdf. Many others have reported the same issue and I believe a recall should be issued. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The noise coming from the blower motor makes it difficult to hear traffic noise, sirens, etc. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No
FORD has recalled certain 2013 Escape's for the Engine coolant bypass solenoid. My 2013 Escape has failed(check engine light code P26B7) but is not covered. The Ford dealer wanted to charge $550 to fix it. I declined as the part is $59 and labor at 2 hours is $120 in my area.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would overheat with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle would stall and independently enter safe mode as the temperature gauge would indicate that the engine was hot. The contact had initially taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who could not determine the cause of the failure. The mechanic then took the vehicle to a dealer where he was instructed on how to repair the failure. Upon return of the vehicle, the contact stated that the vehicle no longer stalled; however, coolant and oil began to leak from the vehicle. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer where they informed her that they could not service the vehicle in a timely manner. The contact then called the manufacturer who informed her that her vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V551000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Had to have my transmission rebuilt for $3000
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING. NO POWER STEERING IN VEHICLE AT ALL. LOOKED ONLINE AND SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED.
While driving vehicle, the temperature warning light came on as did the power steering light. Went into limp mode. Coolant was full. Had to have it towed. This is second time this happened. Let vehicle sit for a day and tried it again. With in 2 minutes of it cranking, it did the same thing. Now have it at a mechanics shop.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that upon a vehicle inspection, she was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). The contact stated that upon opening the front driver’s and passenger’s side doors, the doors failed to lock securely when closed. The contact stated that the latch remained in the closed position on both doors, preventing the doors from being secured. The contact's husband called the dealer and was informed that the parts were on back order and that the recall repair could not be performed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
I was driving off when a Steering Assist Fault Service Required message appeared on my dash. I could no longer control the steering wheel and got really hard to move. I had to put it in reverse and leave it where it was parked, since it was a hazard not being able to move the steering wheel left or right.
Vehicle had transmission replaced at 80,000 miles due to the gears slipping and the car going forward in reverse and accelerating without pressing the gas. Vehicle now has 109,000 miles and has presented with other issues. The first incident occurred after fueling the vehicle. Owner got back into the car, all of the lights the turn on when a door is open illuminated and they proceeded to press the brake and attempt to turn on the car. The brake seized up and the car was not turning on. Owner had battery replaced three weeks ago at a shop and the computer was reset. Owner called roadside thinking it may need a jump. Roadside arrived and advised the vehicle was not in need of a jump as the battery components were testing fine and the lights illuminated and the key fob was working. Attempted to start vehicle numerous times, including with remote start and owner reports it felt as if the start stop button wasn't working. Eventually, the car turned on and ran for about 10 second when the engine cut out and the battery remained running (AC, radio, lights, etc.) owner and roadside tried to turn the vehicle off and the button was not working. Waited 10 minutes, opened driver door and then the stop button worked. Advised a tow, tow truck came an hour later and car started as normal. Owner took it to dealer to report the problem and they replaced the vapor valve. Next day owner drove about 35 miles to destination and when they came back out to the car the issue repeated. Car would not start but all lights would come on dash. Car was able to be remote started but then engine cut out. After an hour car started as normal but was towed back to dealer for fear of stalling while on the highway. Vehicle has been at the dealer for 3 days and they have had the issue repeat for themselves. The dealer has stated they have checked everything and have no idea what is going on and are unsure of how to figure out the problem and how to fix it.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - Engine overheating. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - The engine overheats while driving and the car stalls. This put me and my family in danger as the engine does not provide any power to the vehicle and essentially stalls and 'shuts down'. If the car overheats it could potentially catch on fire putting me in danger. Additionally, if I am traveling on a highway or a city street with no engine power, I risk a collision with other drivers. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - The car has been to the dealer for service on 8+ occasions for this issue. They have seen the vehicle overheat and have downloaded the codes from the vehicles computer that confirm the issue. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer's engineers. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - Yes, there was a warning each time the vehicle overheated. However, the warning happened simultaneously to the overheat issue. So, while it technically warned me - it was a moot point because i was already traveling at city street speeds. This is a recurring issue that began 5+ years ago and persists today. Ford has not been able to properly diagnose the root cause, or provide a fix to the issue. I am nervous to put my family in this vehicle. Uploading the initial service request below - can provide additional files if needed.
The car will stall out and say it’s overheating when it isn’t. This is very dangerous because it can cause a major accident. I have taken it to Ford dealership and another mechanic and each time they say there is nothing wrong with it but it’s been doing this since 2017 when I bought it.
I was pulling out of my street onto the highway when my power steering went out. No warning lights or anything, just took everything I have (as a young female) to turn it and then pull over. Took it in to the dealership and they said it needs to be replaced and that it happens to these cars. $3,100 to fix it! I had to actually go sifting through the info and settings to find the alert that the steering assist had an issue, it didn’t even tell me. Luckily nobody was immediately behind me on the highway, it could have been really bad. Overall very scary and very unimpressed this has happened to others and Ford hasn’t done anything about it.
For the past 2 years car is having identical issues with Ford recall 14S17 in a 2013 Ford Escape. Getting error code P0106 and have had MAF sensor replaced twice. Ford customer service indicated that this Escape was not covered under 14S17 since it was manufactured in 2013 after the effected dates in the recall.
FIRE STARTED IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF 2013 FORD ESCAPE AROUND 2:30 A.M. OF 5/10/2021. THE ENGINE HAD NOT BEEN STARTED AND THE CAR HAS NOT MOVED FROM THE PARKING GARAGE SINCE 5/7/2021.
WAS BACKING UP AND VEHICLE WENT OUT OF GEAR INTO A NEUTRAL POSITION. AUTOMATIC SHIFT LOCKED. CAR LIGHTS CAME ON BUT ENGINE WOULD NOT START. GOT MANUAL AND LOOKED UP SHIFTER. IT SAID TO POP SHIFTER COVER AND MOVE WHITE TAB BACK TO FREE UP SHIFTER (IT WORKED) BUT CAR WOULD STILL NOT START. WAS ABLE TO MOVE SHIFTER FROM S, D & N. SHIFTER WOULD NOT GO INTO R OR P. HAD TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP. THE CALLED ME BACK THE NEXT DAY. THEY SAID MY TRANSMISSION CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $180+ TO ACCESS DAMAGE. SAID IT WILL COST APPROX. $780+ FOR LABOR AND APPROX $75+ FOR PART. I SEARCHED FOR RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THERE HAD BEEN PAST ISSUES WITH THE 2013, 2014 FORD ESCAPE. I AM ASKING THAT THIS ISSUE BE REVIEWED BY APPROPRIATE FORD REPRESENTATIVE. MY HOPE IS THAT THE COST OF THIS ISSUE BE COVERED BY FORD. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT MY NEXT STEP SHOULD BE AS MY VEHICLE IS SETTING AT FORD DEALERSHIP (THEY ARE WAITING FOR ME TO OK FIX). THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000. The VIN was not included.
WHILE DRIVING, INDICATORS SAID LOW COOLANT. CHECKED THE LEVEL AND IT WAS FINE. ERROR KEEPS SHOWING UNTIL SUDDENLY MY VEHICLE STOPPED WHILE IN MOTION AND LOST ALL MOTOR POWER. DASH ILLUMINATED WITH 'ENGINE OVERHEATING' AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY, REMOVED THE KEY FROM IGNITION AND CHECKED UNDER THE HOOD. COOLANT LEVEL WAS FINE. TOOK TO AUTO BODY SHOP, THEY SAID CODES WERE SHOWING FOR LOW COOLANT/OVERHEATING BUT THEY DID A PRESSURE TEST AND FOUND COOLANT LEAKING INSIDE CYLINDER, WHICH COINCIDES WITH THE HUGE ENGINE RECALL AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. FORD WILL NOT ASSIST ME WITH THIS ALTHOUGH THEY ACKNOWLEDGE IT IS A PROBLEM BUT 'MY VIN ISN'T ON THE LIST'. ENGINE REPEATING TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND LOSE POWER GOING FROM 30MPH DOWN TO 5 SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING IN MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE, I'M DISABLED AND FORD CO WON'T HELP NOR WILL ANY DEALER.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY I RECEIVED A SERVICE ALERT SAYING "LOW COOLANT SERVICE NOW". INTERESTINGLY MY CAR HAS ALWAYS SEEMED TO HATE GOING SLIGHTLY UPHILL AND I IMMEDIATELY THOUGHT IT MUST BE RELATED, BUT I JUST HAD MY CAR SERVICED ABOUT A WEEK PRIOR. ABOUT 1/4 MILE LATER MY CAR THROUGH A RED SERVICE ALERT THAT SAID ENGINE OVERHEAT TURN OFF FOR SAFETY. I PULLED OVER QUICKLY AND MY ENGINE WAS SMOKING. STEAM WAS COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND A LOT OF ANTIFREEZE WAS DRIPPING OUT OF THE BOTTOM. FROM HERE I GOT A TOW AND NEED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED. LUCKILY I WAS A SMART DRIVER IN THKS CASE AND THE CAR DID NOT IGNITE. WHILE I WAS PULLED OVER IN LESS THAN 20 MINUTES MY HAZARD LIGHTS NO LONGER WORKED BECAUSE I HAD NO BATTERY AND HAD TO JUMP IT IN ORDER TO ROLL UP THE WINDOWS WHEN THE TOW TRUCK FINALLY ARRIVED. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS DESCRIBED JUST LIKE THIS AND BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS COOLANT SYSTEM ISSUE. I CHECKED ALL AVAILABLE RECALLS AND NHTSA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL YET. IN SPEAKING WITH FORD UNTIL NHTSA ISSUES A RECALL THEN ALL FORD OWNERS WHO EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE ARE ON THE HOOK. PLEASE ISSUE THE NEEDED RECALL. I HAVE READ THAT THERE ARE 190+ COMPLAINTS JUST LIKE MINE AND THESE ARE JUST THE CAR OWNERS WILL TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THIS SERIOUS MATTER.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LOSS OF COOLANT WITH NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF LEAKING. ENGINE SHUT DOWN AFTER STARTING THE CAR.
I was driving when my panoramic sunroof spontaneously exploded. It sounded like a gunshot. Glass was everywhere.
My engine will not hold coolant and apparently has coolant in the cylinders acording to Ford new motors are required for this and it’s a defect from the way the motor is designed
Backup camera doesn’t work.

Intermittantly the car will stall after starting or driven short distance. Sometimes acceleration is not smooth, with a slight surge or hesitation as foot feed is pressed down. Ford dealers in Denver, CO., ignore request for assistance. Several times in slow traffic, car has died. Will restart immediately, but fear that it’s an accident waiting to happen. No earring lights
SHUDDERING SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT AS A USED CAR NOW DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ,HARD TO STOP ENGINE SHAKES AND SHUDDERS IN A FRIGHTENING MANNER. NOW SO BAD AT IDLE IN PARK, PUT TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE AND THE CAR TRIES TO TAKE OFF AND IS DIFFICULT TO HOLD BACK WITH THE BRAKES
MY CAR WAS IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE ON. I PUT MY CAR IN DRIVE AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE ENGINE LOSES POWER AND STALLS. RED OIL LAMP SIGN COME ON. NO SYSTEM CHECK MESSAGE SHOWS. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED.
BEFORE HAVING A ENGINE REPLACEMENT DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES I HAD ISSUES WITH THE TURBOCHARGER OVERBOOSTING AFTER THE ENGINE REPLACEMENT I STILL HAVE THE TURBOCHARGER OVERBOOSTING. ON TOP OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM BRAKE PEDAL MISS MESSAGE LOST COMMUNICATION WITH TCM AND LOST COMMUNICATION WITH THE ECM
THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE UNDER THE HOOD TO THE FUEL RAIL HAD A PINHOLE IN IT AND WAS SPRAYING FUEL DUE TO A WIRING HARNESS RUBBING THROUGH IT.

OUR 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAS A VIN THAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL #18S20, WHICH INDICATES THAT THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION MAY DEGRADE OVER TIME AND CAUSE THE BUSHING TO DETACH FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO PARK AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE IN PARK, WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. OVER THE WEEKEND, OUR CAR EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE COVERED IN THIS RECALL. THE FORD DEALERSHIP WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL REPAIR BECAUSE OF THE VIN, EVEN THOUGH THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RECALLED IN THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR WITH A DIFFERENT VIN. THE ISSUE OCCURRED AFTER I PARKED THE CAR. AFTER BEING PUT IN PARK, THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL. THE DASH DISPLAY INDICATED THAT THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE, BUT THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN PARK AND COULD NOT BE MOVED. I HAD TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO KEEP THE CAR IN PLACE.
MY VEHICLE STALLS AND CHUGS. THIS HAPPENS WHILE I'M DRIVING AND STATIONARY.FORD DID HAVE A RECALL FOR A MAP SENSOR MANIFOLD ISSUE BACK IN OCTOBER OF 2014 FOR FORD ESCAPES WITH THIS DESCRIPTION . THE CODE IS P0106 . I AM STRUGGLING TO GET HELP FOR ANY DEALER BECAUSE THERE IS NO LONGER AN OPEN RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I COULD BE DRIVING AND MY CAR SHUTS OFF. THIS IS A NIGHTMARE.

THEY REPLACED POINTS & PLUGS. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE ENGINE STALLING; THANK GOODNESS IT HAPPENED TO THE SERVICE WHEN HE TEST DROVE IT. I CAME HOME AND RESEARCHED STALLING 2013 ESCAPES, WAS SURPRISED TO SEE ALL THE PROBLEMS; NOT SURE WHAT SITES FORD USES FOR RESEARCH. WHEN I WENT TO PICK THE VEHICLE UP AFTER PAYING MY $400 BILL, I NEVER MADE IT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT, IT STALLED OUT AGAIN. SO THE ESCAPE IS STILL SITTING ST THE DEALERSHIP.
