MY VEHICLE STALLS/ LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND RESIDENTIAL ROADS, , STALLS / LOSS OF POWER WHILE AT LOW RPM OR COMING TO A STANDSTILL , I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BY OTHER CARS SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO NAPA FORD AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT REPEAT THE ISSUE, NAPA FORD TOLD ME IT WAS PROBABLY AN ISSUE WITH MY BATTERY SO WE REPLACED THE BATTERY WITH A NEW ONE, THIS HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH STALLING/ LOSS OF POWER!
2013 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO COOLANT SYSTEM AND EGR SYSTEM ISSUES. *LD THE CONSUMER REQUESTED THAT THE VEHICLE BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL 17S09. *JS
THE CAR WON'T START IMMEDIATELY AFTER FUELING. WHEN IT DOES EVENTUALLY START IT IDLES VERY ROUGH. THE PROBLEM ALSO CAUSES THE CAR TO PERIODICALLY STALL WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS AND OTHER FORD CARS. JUST SEARCH YOUTUBE OR DO AN INTERNET SEARCH. IT IS APPARENTLY A PROBLEM WITH THE EVAP PURGE VALVE.
2013 FORD ESCAPE WITH LESS THAN 90000 MILES ,WENT TO CRANK CAR AND STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME UP ON DASH CUT CAR OFF AND RECRANKED AND WAS FINE NEXT DAY WAS DRIVING IT ON A RURAL ROAD AND LOST POWER STEERING SAME FAULT CAME UP NOW NO POWER STEERING AT ALL IF WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING SHE WOULD HAVE PROBABLY WRECKED BECAUSE OF HARD STEERING ,LOOKED ONLINE AND SEE IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED
THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM WITH THE 2013 FORD ESCAPE, HOWEVER EVEN THOUGH I HAD TO REPAIR THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE ON MY ESCAPE AS THE RECALLS FORD SAID MY VIN WASN'T IMPACTED ON THIS ISSUE. REALLY MY 2 CURRENT FORD VEHICLES I OWN WILL BE MY LAST!
WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY CAR 40MI/HR ON DECEMBER 23RD, THE LOW ENGINE COOLANT FLUID MESSAGE CAME ON, AND ABOUT 10 SECONDS LATER, THERE WAS A MESSAGE SAYING THE ENGINE WAS OVERHEATING AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY IMMEDIATELY. THE CAR STARTING STALLING AND I PULLED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER PUTTING MORE ENGINE COOLANT, IT WORKED JUST FINE. THEN TWO WEEKS THE LOW ENGINE COOLANT MESSAGE CAME BACK ON AND I TOOK IT TO MIDAS IN WESTLAND, MI WHERE THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DETECT A LEAK. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER THAT THE SAME SITUATION WITH THE LOW ENGINE COOLANT SIGNAL, OVERHEATING ENGINE, AND STALLING CAR HAPPENED, FOLLOWED BY MORE ENGINE COOLANT ADDED TO CAR. SINCE THEN IT HAS DRIVEN JUST FINE BUT I'M AFRAID IT WILL STALL OR START AN ENGINE FIRE.
FOR THE PAST YEAR MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE WILL LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING AND STALL. I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. IT HAS DONE THIS WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH AND 70 MPH, DRIVING IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE FUEL IS FULL, 3/4, 1/2 OR ALMOST EMPTY. MY CAR LOSES ALL POWER TO THE GAS PEDAL AND STALLS. MOST TIMES IT WILL NOT START RIGHT AWAY AND SOMETIMES WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAIT 30 SECONDS IT WILL START. VERY SCARY TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY WITH 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR. AGAIN I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN BUT IT HAPPENS AT LEAST 2 TIMES A DAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE REPORTED A FALSE ALERT STATING THAT THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS LOW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS AT THE RECOMMENDED LEVEL. A SECONDARY ALERT WAS RELAYED WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO PULL OVER AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. WOODY ANDERSON FORD 2500 JORDAN LN NW, HUNTSVILLE, AL 35810, WAS CONTACTED BUT WAS UNABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
THE ENGINE WILL SHUDDER AT RANDOM TIMES AND OCCASIONALLY STALL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ISSUE ALSO WILL APPEAR RANDOMLY AFTER FILLING THE TANK. SOMETIMES VENTING THE TANK AT THE INLET WILL RESOLVE THE ISSUE. ACCORDING TO FIRESTONE, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS VEHICLE...AND AS A DRIVER, IT IS AWFULLY UNSAFE. FORD HAS DIAGNOSED IT AS HAVING TO DO WITH A FUEL PRESSURE VALVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY OVER THE YEARS WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE. GET THIS FIXED!
THE CAR DOES NOT WANT TO START WHILE STATIONARY AFTER PUTTING GAS. IT TAKES A WHILE TO GET IT TO START AND THEN I HAVE TO PUSH ON THE GAS FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES WHILE IT SPUTTERS UNTIL THE IDLE FINALLY SETTLES. IT SHUTS OFF WHILE STATIONARY AND IDLING IN PARK AS WELL.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Escape. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving 20 MPH, the vehicle started to overheat. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and restarted. Additionally, the contact observed condensation under the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on several occasions where it was diagnosed that unknown parts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired over 20 times, but the failures persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
VEHICLE STALLS UNEXPECTEDLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. I CAN BE DRIVING AND PULL OUT OF AN INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE STALLS WITHOUT ANY WARNING LEAVING ME VULNERABLE TO AN ACCIDENT DUE THE VEHICLE NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE. IN ADDITION TO THIS THE VEHICLE ALSO HAS A COOLANT LEAK
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM DRIVETIME IN JANUARY 2018. THEY DID NOT TELL ME OF ANY RECALLS. I SEE ONLINE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN 15 RECALLS AND THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING HAS BEEN RECALLED 2 TIMES. I HAVE HAD ISSUES FOR OVER A YEAR WITH THE COOLING. I HAVE TO ALWAYS PUT COOLANT IN. WE HAVE EVEN BEEN STRANDED WITH AN OVERHEATED VEHICLE. I HAD AN ESTIMATE DONE TO FIX THE ISSUE AND THEY TOLD ME THE PART IS $1,400, IT IS THE COOLANT BYPASS. NOT SURE WHAT THAT IS, HOWEVER WHEN SEARCHING ONLINE, THE PARTS ARE LESS THAN $100. I NEED TO KNOW IF THIS IS STILL THE SAME RECALL AND CAN GET FIXED BY THE DEALER FOR FREE? PLEASE LET ME KNOW BEFORE THE ENGINE BLOWS. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON, I AM UNABLE TO USE REMOTE START IN THE FREEZING COLD NOW DUE TO THIS. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET THIS FIXED AS I LOVE THIS CAR AND DO NOT GIVE IT UP. AS OF 1/16/2020, I HAVE HAD MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE FOR 6 MONTHS. A WEEK AFTER I GOT MY CAR, IT OVERHEATED. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER AS THE ENGINE STALLED AND SEIZED UP. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER AND HAD THE THERMOSTAT FIXED. AFTER TWO OR THREE MONTHS, THE CAR STARTED OVERHEATING AGAIN. I DECIDED NOT TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AFTER MANY PHONE CALLS AND A VERY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE. I TOOK IT TO TWO MECHANIC SHOPS AND THEY COULD NOT FIND WHAT WAS WRONG. IT CONTINUED TO OVERHEAT, EVEN WITH COOLANT FILLED IN THE RESERVOIR. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN, OVERHEATING IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL. I HAVE CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR OVERHEATING ASSOCIATED WITH MY VIN NUMBER. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC SHOP FOR A THIRD TIME, AFTER MY CAR STALLED ON A COLD WINTER'S DAY WITH MY CHILD IN THE BACKSEAT. THEY NOTIFIED ME THAT THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THEY ALSO NOTIFIED ME THAT IT WAS PART OF RECALL 13S12 (NHTSA-13V583). I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE CALL INSPECTED FOR ALL RECALLS. APPARENTLY MY CAR WAS NOT EFFECTED BY THIS RECALL THAT EFFECTED OTHER 2013 FORD ESCAPES THAT CAUSES THE OVERHEATING. I REGRET MAKING THIS PURCHASE. MY 2002 HONDA ACCORD HAS PROVED TO BE WAY MORE RELIABLE THAN THIS FORD. I WOULD NOT PURCHASE A FORD AGAIN AND PLAN ON TRADING IT IN AFTER I GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. I'M DISAPPOINTED THAT I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET WHEN IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MALFUNCTION IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THIS VEHICLE.
SOMETIMES MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE STALLS WHEN I'M DRIVING, I LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE THEN RESTART IT, IT STARTS BUT ALTHOUGH I'M DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR IT DOESN'T RESPOND. AT OTHER TIMES WHEN I START IT FROM A STATIONARY POSITION IT MOVES THEN SPUTTERS AND SHUTS OFF.
THERE'S IS A STRONG SMELL OF RAW GAS WHENEVER I START THE VEHICLE AND ASLO WHEN I'M DRIVING THE VEHICLE
VEHICLE LEAKING CONTINUED LEAKING COOLANT AFTER WATER PUMP CHANGED. DEALERSHIP REMOVED IGNITION COILS & SPARK PLUGS LOOKED WITH BORESCOPE, CYLINDER #3 HAD COOLANT RECOMMENDED ENGINE REPLACEMENT. TORE DOWN ENGINE FOUND POROUS CASTING ON BLOCK ALLOWING COOLANT INTO ENGINE. THIS COINCIDES WITH FORDS RECALL #12V431000 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING AND RECALL#13V58300 ENGINE FOR OTHER MANUFACTURED 2013 FORD ESCAPE MODELS BUT FORD IS NOT EXTENDING RECALL TO THIS ESCAPE STATING IT WAS MFG AT A DIFFERENT PLANT AND DURING A DIFFERENT TIME THAN THE OTHER ESCAPES THAT WERE RECALLED. AS STATED BY FORD "OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD MAY CAUSE CRACKS THAT COULD ALLOW OIL TO LEAK POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. FORD NEEDS TO INCLUDE THESE OTHER ESCAPES IN THEIR RECALL.
WHEN STARTED, VEHICLE DISPLAYS 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE-REQUIRES SERVICE' WARNING AND POWER STEERING IS LOST. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF TWO DAYS. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE CAR IS STARTED, IT JUST RANDOMLY HAPPENS. I DROVE HOME LAST NIGHT FROM WORK WITH NO POWER STEERING, AND ALONG WITH THIS ISSUE MY USB PORTS WOULD NOT CHARGE MY PHONE. MY PHONE RECOGNIZED THAT IT WAS PLUGGED IN, BUT NOT ENOUGH POWER WAS BEING SUPPLIED TO ACTUALLY CHARGE IT. I'M NIT SURE IF THAT IS LINKED WITH THE POWER STEERING MODULE, BUT I'VE NEVER HAD THAT ISSUE BEFORE ALL OF THIS MESS.
THIS IS THE TENTH TIME THAT THE COOLANT SYSTEM LIGHTS COME ON AND THE THE CAR STALLS OUT AND WILL ONLY GO APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES PER HOUR. THIS HAPPENED THIS TIME WITH A CAR BEHIND ME THAT ALMOST CRASHED INTO ME HE HAD TI HIT HIS BREAKS AND GO ACROSS A DOUBLE LINE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANES TO KEEP FROM HITTING ME, BLESSEDLY THERE WAS NO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE. NOW IT WON"T STAY CHARGED EVEN WITH A NEW BATTERY. AS SOON AS I TURN THE MOTOR OFF THE CAR IS DEAD UNTIL I CHARGE IT AGAIN. IT RUNS FROM POINT A TO B BUT IF YOU TURN IT OFF IT IS COMPLETELY DEAD AND THE KEY WONT WORK OR ANYTHING

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NEWINS BAY SHORE FORD LOCATED AT (219 W MAIN ST, BAY SHORE, NY 11706 631-665-1300) BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RODMAN FORD SALES INC (45 WASHINGTON ST, FOXBOROUGH, MA 02035) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE HEAD GASKET NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,737.
WITH IN A YEAR, THE FOLLOWING HAPPENED; THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND WHEN IT DID, IT IMMEDIATELY DIED BUT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE BATTERY. KEY FOB WOULD NOT REGISTER TO VEHICLE, VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN SMOKE WAS POURING OUT OF THE HOOD, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND NOR TEMPERATURE GAGE MOVED. THIS CAR IS LEMON BASED ON THE HISTORY FROM PREVIOUS OWNER AND THE TWO YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT.
MY WIFE WAS LEAVING FOR WORK AND HER 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAD A STEERING ASSIST FAILURE LIGHT COME ON ON THE DASH BOARD. THE STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. SHE PARKED IT AND USED MY VEHICLE TO GET TO WORK. I LOOKED THIS UP AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS EXCEPT FOR 2008 -2011 FORD ESCAPES. BUT THE PROBLEM IS CONTINUING THROUGH TO 2017 FROM WHAT I READ ONLINE MILEAGE RANGES FROM 700 AND UP . FORD HAS NO FIX FOR THIS, THEY TELL YOU THEY NEED TO FLASH THE COMPUTER AND THAT FIXES THE ISSUE. BUT IT DOES NOT I HAVE READ MANY REPORTS THAT THIS WONT FIX ISSUE AND THAT MOST PEOPLE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK/PINION GEAR ASSEMBLY AND THE COMPUTER PORTION OF IT ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM COME BACK AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER HAVING NEW PARTS INSTALLED. I AM OLD ENOUGH TO REMEMBER DRIVING VEHICLES WITH OUT POWER STEERING NOT TO BIG A DEAL FOR ME, BUT SOME PEOPLE SAY THERE STEERING LOCKS UP COMPLETELY AND CANT TURN WHEEL. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS ON THE ROAD AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED, I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE MY WIFE IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE FORD IS NOT FIXING THE ISSUE. THEY NEED A FIX FOR THIS THAT WILL NOT RETURN IN THE FUTURE. I HAVE TRIED TO DUPLICATE WHAT HAPPENED THIS MORNING AND HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL, IF I CANT THEN FORD CANT AND THERE FOR NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED BEFORE SOME ONE LOOSES A LOVED ONE.
A SMELL OF GAS AS DRIVING AND PARKED, TURNED OUT TO BE A FUEL LEAK FROM A PIPE IN THE ENGINE BAY, A STEADY HEAVY DRIP WHEN PARKED WITH THE ENGINE OFF, AWAITING REPAIR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING HE GOT A FLAT TIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE TIRE BUT THE FACTORY ASSIGNED LUG NUT WRENCH WOULD NOT FIT OVER THE LUG NUTS. THE CONTACT CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE LUG NUTS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE HEAT FROM THE VEHICLE BEING OPERATED CAUSED THE LUG NUTS TO EXPAND WHICH CAUSED WRENCH ASSIGNED TO THE VEHICLE TO FAIL TO FIT THE LUG NUTS. BAXTER FORD SOUTH 9203 S 145TH ST, OMAHA, NE 68138 (402) 896-6000 WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND THE FAILURE WAS ACKNOWLEDGED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,952.
FORD DID A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT WHICH 2 CODES SHOWED BUT THEY TESTED AND COULD NOT FIND THE ISSUE. SO I THEN TOOK IT TO THE APPROVED SERVICE SHOP. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED THE PCV VALVE BUT WHEN I PICKED IT UP THE NEXT DAY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND WAS NOW FLASHING. THE SHUDDERING WAS NOW HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING 70MPH. I TOOK IT DIRECTLY BACK TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY WORKED ON IT FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS. AS IT WAS A SATURDAY, THEY ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK IN ON TUESDAY WHEN THE SR. TECH WAS THERE. ON THAT DAY IT WAS THERE FOR ANOTHER 6 HOURS. THEY CONSULTED WITH THEIR HEAD TECH WHO HAS BEEN THERE OVER 30 YEARS AND ALSO WITH SEVERAL FORD LEAD TECHNICIANS. THEY REPLACED THE EGR VALVE AND ASKED ME TO LET THEM KNOW HOW IT WAS. THE NEXT MORNING I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THEY ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK IN AND THEY WERE TOLD BY FORD TO REPLACE A SENSOR. ONCE REPLACED THAT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. AT THAT POINT THEY DECIDED WITH FORD TO TAKE IT TO FORD TO DO ANOTHER DIAGNOSIS. THE CODE SHOWS WHAT THEY'VE ALREADY FIXED. AT THIS POINT THERE IS NOT MUCH ELSE THEY CAN DO. I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT CAN'T BE FIXED AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING.
COOLANT CONTINOUSLY DISAPPERS FROM THE ENGINE CAUSING TO OVERHEAT AND STALL. THERE ARE NO LEAKS. BUT CAR STOPS WHEN HEAT NEEDLE GOES TO MAX ON HIGHWAYS AND IN A CITY. VERY DANGEROUS AND FEARFUL FOR ME, WHEN MY DAUGHTER IS IN MAY CAR.
Since we bought the car we have always had problems with the steering locking up. Was told the whole rack and pinion which is electric needed to be changed. I have read that this is a huge problem with FORDS. My wife was driving on the highway and it locks up and she can’t steer. Please check into how many ford vehicles have this problem. Someone is going to get killed

WE BOUGHT 2013 FORD ESCAPE IN JULY, 2016, WITH APPROXIMATELY 62,000 MILES. AT 64,000 MILES, AFTER CONSTANT OVERHEATING ISSUES, FORD AGREED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THERE WERE OVERHEATING ISSUES ON THE NEW ENGINE AT TIME OF INSTALL (STATED IN DEALER NOTES), BUT THEY "FIXED" THEM. THE CAR NOW HAS 103,000 MILES. HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY, WITH OCCASIONAL OVERHEATING ISSUES NOTED. TRANSMISSION FAILED LAST MONTH. WAITED OVER 2 WEEKS FOR DIAGNOSIS. TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND ANOTHER NEW ENGINE IS NEEDED BECAUSE OF COOLANT LEAK. OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 100,000 MILES. CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP. IT SEEMS THAT THEY PUT ANOTHER DEFECTIVE ENGINE IN AT 64,000 MILES BECAUSE YOU SHOULD GET MORE THAT 40,000 MILES ON A NEW ENGINE. THE COST TO REPAIR THIS PIECE OF JUNK IS PROHIBITIVE AND I FEEL VERY UNHAPPY WITH FORD'S RESPONSE.
VECHICLE STALLES WHILE DRVING ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS
2013 FORD ESCAPE EXPERIENCES APPARENT TRANSMISSION FAILURES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. OFTEN DURING PASSING ACCELERATION. REPEATED INSTANCES. FROM 50K MILES TO 70K MILES. ONE INSTANCE INVOLVING ALL WHEELS LOCKING UP AT 80MPH (FELT LIKE A SHIFT INTO PARK) AND THE OTHERS INVOLVING DRIVETRAIN POWER LOSS AND JERKING. AFTER CAR RESTART, CODES "APPARENTLY" DISAPPEAR AND DEALERS ARE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY ANY ISSUES WITHOUT CODES.
MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN HAS A LOSS OF ENGINE COOLANT AND OVERHEATS TO EXTREMELY HIGH TEMPERATURES. THEN THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO STALL AS I'M DRIVING IT. THIS WAS PART OF A RECALL OF OTHER FORD ESCAPES BUT SOMEHOW MY CAR WAS NOT ADDED TO THIS LIST.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STALLED OUT OR DIED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AND RADIO WERE NOT AFFECTED. THE CAR WAS STILL ON BUT THE RPMS WERE AT 0 AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. I HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT.

AFTER DRIVING SLOWLY A SHORT DISTANCE, AND APPLYING BRAKES, WHEN YOU PULL INTO TRAFFIC OR START MOVING FORWARD THE CAR STALLS WITH CHECK YOUR ENGINE/SERVICE YOUR ENGINE LIGHTS FLASHING. THE CAR WILL RESTART AND DRIVE FINE. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC AND IN PARKING LOTS. I AM CONCERNED IT WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. BASE ON OTHER COMPLAINTS, THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED BY FORD. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS BUT RECENTLY MORE FREQUENTLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.

MY CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL 14S17-S1 EXCEPT MY ENGINE IS THE 1.6L AND THEY WON'T FIX IT. I STARTED MY CAR AFTER WORK AND THE ENGINE FAULT SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED TO DRIVE IT BUT THERE WAS NO POWER AND WAS WANTING TO DIE SO I PARKED IT AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. IT IS THE MAP HARNESS WIRING.

AS I WAS DRIVING I NOTICED MY CAR JERKING GOING IN TO FIRST GEAR. I FIGURED BECAUSE I WAS ON A HILL THAT WAS THE REASON. LATER THAT DAY AS I WAS TRYING TO RUN ERRAND AS I GOT IN THE HIGHWAY MY CAR WOULDN'T GO ABOVE 60 MPH AND WAS AT VERY HIGH RPMS TO MAINTAIN THIS SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO INTO 6TH GEAR. I PULLED OFF OF THE HIGHWAY AND STARTED TO MAKE MY HOME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP. AS I MADE IT TO A RED LIGHT THE CAR JERKED AGAIN WHEN I STOPPED. AS I WENT TO ACCELERATE I MADE IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHEN MY CAR LOST ALL POWER AND WOULD ONLY REV AS IF IT WAS IN NUETRAL. AFTER TURNING IT OFF AND BACK ON IT RAN WELL ENOUGH FOR ME TO MAKE IT HOME AND I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING MY APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP. I'M AT 63K MILES AND PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 3 MONTHS AGO AND IT HAD ABOUT 50K MILES ON IT. I DRIVE A 2013 FORD ESCAPE ECOBOOST. THIS DEFECT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED BEING STUCK IN AN INTERSECTION LIKE THAT. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED SEEING THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS ISSUE SPEAKING WITH MECHANICS HERE AND THE DEALERSHIP WHO ALL HAVE A NUMBER OF THIS SAME VEHICLE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES.
One of the radiator hoses, causing all of the coolant to drain in less than 1 second, followed by tremendous amounts of smoke coming from the engine. A warning light came on the dash, with a loud alarm. The car immediately overheated and had I not stopped driving the car in seconds, it would have overheated & destroyed the engine. This occurred in heavy traffic, on a highway while I was in a middle lane. This made it hard to get to the shoulder and other drivers were not letting me move over easily. Once of the shoulder, I was stuck for 4 hours with an engine that was smoking so badly, I thought it might catch on fire. Prior to the moment the part failed, there was no warning. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer repair and they replaced the hose. The dealer repair person said that these hoses fail with some regularity and I was just unlucky to have it happen under the circumstances (being on a highway, at speed, during high traffic time).
THE VEHICLE HESITATES THEN STALLS EVEN WHEN IN DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE CITY STREETS WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AND WHEN PULLING FORWARD AT A GREEN LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION. PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL BUT DOES NOT RE-ENGAGE AND STALLS. I HAVE REPLACED ALL SPARKS PLUGS AND CLEANED THE INJECTORS AND FUEL LINES. THIS IS HAPPENING MORE AND MORE - THE DEALERSHIP IS AT A LOSS.
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAS LOST COOLANT SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY COULD NEVER FIGURE OUT THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK. IT WAS SLOW, SO I LET IT GO. I JUST ADD A LITTLE COOLANT EVERY COUPLE MONTHS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE THE CASE IN A NEW VEHICLE. WELL, NOW IT IS 2019 AND I HAVE AN ALL OUT LEAK. I HAVE TO ADD COOLANT EVERY FEW DAYS. I LEAVE A PUDDLE ON ANY PARKING SPOT I USE FOR A FEW HOURS OR MORE. THIS MODEL YEAR, AND ENGINE (1.6 ECOBOOST) IS KNOWN FOR THIS ISSUE. I FEAR IT IS COMING FROM THE ENGINE BLOCK, AND I'M OUT A LOT OF MONEY.

WHEN THIS COMES ON IS THE CAR ALL THE ELECTRICAL STUFF CUTS OFF THE SPEEDOMETER NOTHINGS WORKS IN THE CAR THE STEERING WILL GET STIFF AND IT WILL DRIVE FOR A WHILE THEN IT RESET IT SELF I'VE NOTICED WHERE IT IS GONE AT LEAST TEN MINUTES BEFORE IT RESETS ITS SELF THIS MAKES ME VERY NERVOUS AND UNCOMFORTABLE BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE WHAT SPEED I AM GOING OR WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE CAR ANYTHING WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE CAR MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FROM DEC 27 UNTIL JAN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS THIS IS MY ONE WAY TO GET AROUND CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.
