GOT A RECALL NOTICE FOR 14S17 CALLED CROWELL MOTOR CO SOUTH BOSTON VA SERVICE DEPT. ADVISED THEY WERE WAITING ON PARTS FROM FORD TO DO THE WORK BUT THAT THERE WAS ALSO ANOTHER RECALL 14V-597 ON THE VEHICLE AS WELL AND THAT FORD HAD NOT SENT ANY OF THE PARTS TO DO THE WORK. CALLED AGAIN ON 10-24-2014 WAS TOLD THE SAME CROWELL CALLED ME ON 11-03-2014 AND STATED THEY WOULD CALL ME WHEN THE PARTS ARRIVED. THEY SEEM TO BE DOING ALL THEY CAN BUT CAN ONLY FIX THE VEHICLE WHEN FORD SENDS THE PARTS TO THE DEALERS. MY PROBLEM WHY SEND OUT RECALL NOTICES IF THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AS GET PEOPLE SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS WE ARE THAT I PAID 33000.00 FOR. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V495000 (ENGINE) AND STATED THAT THE RECALL EXCEEDED A REASONABLE TIME FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,410.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT LOW AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBLE RESERVOIR LEAK. THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING OIL ODOR COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MONTROSE FORD-LINCOLN (LOCATED AT 2480 W STATE ST, ALLIANCE, OH 44601, 330-823-1128) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V431000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDED CASE NUMBERS: 17515194 AND 25220147. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD BE HEARING FROM SOMEONE AT FORD; HOWEVER, SHE HAD NOT RECEIVED A CALL BACK. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
NUMEROUS FAULTS WITH RADIO AND SYNC SYSTEM. THE RADIO WILL COME ON BY ITSELF AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF. THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHEN A CELL PHONE IS IN USE AND CONNECTS OR DISCONNECTS VIA BLUETOOTH WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED OR TURNED OFF. THE RADIO WILL NOT TURN OFF EVEN AFTER THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND THE DOORS ARE OPENED, AND REMAIN ON EVEN IF I LOCK THE CAR. I WENT INSIDE A STORE NOT HAVING LEFT ANY RADIO ON OR ANYTHING, CAME OUT AND HE BATTERY WAS DEAD. I GOT A JUMP START AND THE RADIO CAME ON WHEN THE CAR STARTED FROM BEING JUMPED. EVIDENTLY SYNC TURNED ON THE RADIO. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO BE LEFT WITH A DEAD BATTERY ON TWO OCCASIONS. I AM TAKING IT TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY, THIS IS A SATURDAY EVENING. *TR
I AM NOR SURE IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, BUT THIS VEHICLE HAS 3 MEMORY SEAT SETTINGS. THE PROBLEM IS IT CONTINUALLY LOOSES THE MEMORY SETTINGS. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO FORD SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY CAN'T FIND A PROBLEM. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS THING CAN RESET, MOVE OR DO SOMETHING ELSE AS I AM DRIVING. MY VEHICLE IS JUST NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT THIS PROBLEM STARTED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AND HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO FORD'S ATTENTION WHILE STILL IN WARRANTY. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR DOORS APPEARED TO BE PUSHED OUT FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE REAR DOOR HATCH FRACTURED AND DETACHED AND THE BATTERY DIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW BATTERY, THE HATCH HANDLE NEEDED TO BE SOLDERED BACK ON, AND WEATHER STRIPPING NEEDED TO BE ADDED TO THE DOORS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V495000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), 14V597000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS), AND 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I HAD A TIRE REPAIR FOR A NAIL IN AUG AT THE DEALERSHIP. SEPT 20TH RAN OVER A ROCK~ 8-10 IN ON THE DIRT ROAD AND SUSTAINED A FLAT TIRE. I HAD THE CAR TOED. SPARE APPLIED, BOUGHT 2 NEW FRONT TIRES AND WAS TOLD THAT THE LEFT REAR SHOCK WAS TOTALLY TORN OFF NEAR THE TOP, THIS WORK WAS DONE AT BELLE TIRE WHO ADVISED ME TO TAKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AS IT APPEARED TO HAVE FROZEN UP TO HAVE CAUSED THAT MUCH DAMAGE AND SHOULD BE UNDER MY WARRANTY. ALSO, I HAD NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS. FORD TOLD ME THAT THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT FEEL THAT IT WAS DEFECTIVE. READING THAT THERE HAVE BEEN PROBLEMS WITH REAR SUSPENSION MOUNTS I QUESTION WHETHER THE MOUNT PROBLEM COULD HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE SHOCK BRAKING. *TR
EXCESSIVE REAR BRAKE WEAR RESULTING IN NEED FOR NEW ROTORS AND PADS AT LESS THAN 20K MILES. OWNER HAS COMPLAINED TO DEALER AT THAT TIME AND WAS TOLD SYSTEM WAS OK. BY 30K MILES REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO SEVERE SCORING OF ROTORS AND PADS WORN THROUGH. VEHICLE IS DRIVEN SAFELY: NOT CHARGING STOP SIGNS, BACKING OFF FOR STALE GREEN LIGHTS, ETC. VERY LITTLE BRAKE USAGE TO SLOW DOWN IN THIS VEHICLE. REAR ROTORS AND PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACE AND IT WAS FOUND THAT VERY LITTLE TO NO LUBE WAS FOUND ON THE CALIPER PINS. FRONTS HAVE BEEN INSPECTED AND ARE NOT GOING TO NEED ATTENTION FOR MANY MORE MILES. IT APPEARS THAT THE BALANCE BETWEEN STOPPING BETWEEN THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES MAY BE A DESIGN PROBLEM. REAR ROTOR DIAMETER TO FRONT ROTOR DIAMETER IS 300MM TO 330MM WHICH MAY BE TOO LITTLE SWEPT AREA VERSUS INADEQUATE FRONT PRESSURE. FRONT PADS WILL BE REPLACED TO ESTABLISH A NEW BASELINE FOR COMPARISON. FORD WAS NOTIFIED VIA PHONE AND EMAIL TO LITTLE OR NO SATISFACTION. I'M SURPRISED THAT A FORMERLY RESPONSIVE COMPANY HAS GOTTEN SO FAR BEHIND IN CUSTOMER COMPLAINT HANDLING. CHECKING THE WEB, NUMEROUS INSTANCES OF THIS TYPE OF PERFORMANCE HAVE BEEN FOUND. IT IS MY OPINION THAT A "CONCERN" SHOULD BE OPENED IMMEDIATELY. EVEN MY SELLING DEALER IS UNRESPONSIVE, YET FORD PERSONNEL COULD NOT SUGGEST AN ALTERNATIVE DEALER NOR SHARE DEALER RATINGS WITH THEIR CUSTOMER. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN PLAGUED BY NUMEROUS RECALLS ALREADY AND THERE ARE YET TWO MORE TO BE PROCESSED. A LOT OF GOOD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES ONE! HELP PLEASE.
ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW MESSAGE DISPLAYS ON INFORMATION CENTER. DEALER SAYS TO TURN OFF CAR, OPEN DOOR, CLOSE DOOR, COUNT TO 10, TURN CAR BACK ON AND MESSAGE IS GONE. MESSAGE REPEATED 2 DAYS LATER. *TR
MILEAGE ABOVE IS FROM INCIDENT IN 2/15, OCCURRED FIRST TIME AT OR ABOUT 9/14, AND OCCURRED AGAIN 3/15. ON EACH OCCASION THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING. ON THE 3/15 OCCASION I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45 MPH ON A 4 LANE ROAD....WHEN THIS OCCURS I AM ON THE GAS PEDAL....NOT THE BRAKE PEDAL AS I AM TRYING TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FORWARD. I WAS TERRIFIED TO BE STRUCK FROM BEHIND AND WATCHED AS TRAFFIC WAS COMING TOWARDS ME. EACH OCCURRENCE HAD A DIFFERENT REPAIR BECAUSE DIAGNOSTIC CODE WAS DIFFERENT. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY.....FOR THIS ISSUE AS WELL AS NUMEROUS OTHER ISSUES. I WANT TO FEEL SAFE AND NOT FEAR FUTURE PROBLEMS. CPSC: I1490148A. 2003 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE CAR HAS A FAILURE OF THE FORWARD SUBFRAME ASSEMBLY THAT CARRIES THE WHEEL JOINTS AND STEERING ARMS. *LN THE CONSUMER STATED THE RECALL WAS INTENDED TO INSTALL A CROSS-BRACE ON THE CONTROL ARM ATTACHMENT SO THAT IF THE SUBFRAME FAILED, THERE WOULD BE LESS OF A TENDENCY FOR MAJOR STEERING FAILURE. THE CONSUMER HAD THE BRACE INSTALLED IN JUNE 2014. ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2014, THE SUB FRAME FAILED WHILE HE WAS TURNING A CORNER AND HE WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY, HE WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 5-10 MPH. THE CONSUMER REFERENCED RECALL # 14V165000.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE MAY CATCH ON FIRE DUE TO THE FAILURE. AS A RESULT, THE PRIVATE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HEAT SHIELD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE MANUFACTURER'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,800. UPDATED 11/20/14*CN UPDATED 8/13/2015 *JS
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, OUR VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER, RED LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASHBOARD, VEHICLE CONTINUED RUNNING BUT GAS PEDAL DID NOT RESPOND. COASTED TO A STOP ALONG SHOULDER, TURNED VEHICLE OFF, WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES, RESTARTED WITHOUT INCIDENT. 12 VOLT PLUGS REMAINED OFF. CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP TODAY. THEY SAY THIS ISSUE WILL BE COVERED IN ANOTHER RECALL FROM FORD, HAS TO DO WITH THE ELECTRICAL WIRING HARNESS WHICH SHORTS OUT, HOWEVER REPLACEMENT PART NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. HAD WE BEEN ON THE FREEWAY IN SEATTLE AS WE WERE EARLIER IN THE DAY, THIS WOULD HAVE CAUSED A REAR END ACCIDENT FOR SURE. WE FEEL FORD HAS LEFT US WITH AN UNDEPENDABLE VEHICLE, SEVERAL RECALLS ALREADY AND NOW THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. WE NO LONGER FEEL WE CAN TRAVEL SAFELY IN THIS VEHICLE EVEN AFTER THIS NEXT RECALL IS REPAIRED. QUALITY CONTROL IS DEFINITELY ABSENT, WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE WILL BE RECALLED AT THIS RATE. *TR
MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL IS EQUIPPED WITH AN INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM. THIS KEY ALLOWS THE DRIVER TO UNLOCK THE CAR BY SIMPLY TOUCHING THE DOOR HANDLE. THE SYSTEM ALSO INCLUDES A FEATURE THAT PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING OR UNLOCKS THE DOORS IMMEDIATELY IF KEYS ARE LEFT INSIDE THE CAR WITHOUT A DRIVER OR PASSENGER PRESENT. THE CAR ALSO INCLUDES A AUTO-LOCKING FEATURE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO LOCK ALL DOORS ONLY WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND BEGINS MOVING ABOVE 5 MPH. ON THREE OCCASIONS, INCLUDING THE LAST (7/22/2015) THIS SYSTEM HAS MALFUNCTIONED TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT ITS BEHAVIOR WAS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF ITS INTENDED DESIGN. ON TWO OCCASIONS INVOLVING MY WIFE, WHO NATURALLY CARRIES THE KEYS IN HER PURSE. SHE HAS GOTTEN OUT OF THE CAR OR LOADED THE CAR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE AND CLOSED THE DOOR WITHOUT LOCKING THE CAR MANUALLY. HER KEYS REMAINED IN HER BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, WHILE SHE WALKED AROUND THE CAR TO RETRIEVE THEM OR TO ENTER THE DRIVERS SIDE. ON THESE OCCASIONS THE CAR HAS LOCKED ITSELF WITH THE KEYS INSIDE AS SOON AS SHE CLOSED THE DOOR AND SHE COULD NOT GET INTO THE CAR. THE FIRST TIME A WINDOW HAD TO BE BROKEN TO REGAIN ACCESS, THE SECOND THE DOOR WAS OPENED BY A LOCKSMITH. THE LAST TIME WE WERE AT A RESTAURANT I HAD A KEY IN MY SHIRT POCKET AND MY WIFE HAD HERS IN HER PURSE, WE GOT OUT TO SPEAK WITH FRIENDS BEFORE WE WENT IN. WHEN MY WIFE TURNED TO GET HER PURSE THE DOORS WERE LOCKED AND WOULD NOT UNLOCK, I WALKED OVER TO OPEN THE DOOR THERE WAS NO RESPONSE FROM ANY DOOR, PULLED THE KEY FROM MY POCKET AND PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON NO RESPONSE, PUSHED IT TWO MORE TIMES BEFORE THE DRIVERS DOOR UNLOCKED. ALL OF THESE HAPPENED IN TEMPERATURES ABOVE 97 THERE ARE TWO MAJOR FAILINGS OCCURRING. IF YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR WITHOUT THE KEYS AND CLOSE THE DOOR, IT CAN LOCK ITSELF. MAYBE WITH A CHILD INSIDE. FORD CANNOT REPLICATE THIS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM.
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED AN ELECTRICAL SHORT WITH THE RADIO SHORTING OUT AS WELL. THE VEHICLE STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE CONTACT HAD TO MAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING ROUGH, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED AND WAS STUCK MULTIPLE TIMES CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE. THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED MORE THAN FIVE TIMES AND THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS PARKED AT THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE DEALER TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION, DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS CHECKING FOR APPROVAL FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. DYD
IN AUGUST 2014, JANUARY 2015, FEBRUARY 2015, AND MARCH 2015 MY VEHICLE WENT INTO "FAILSAFE" MODE DUE TO AN OVERHEATING ENGINE, AMONG OTHER PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED EACH TIME TO THE FORD DEALER'S SERVICE CENTER WHERE THE LEASE ORIGINATED. FAILSAFE MODE CUTS POWER TO THE BRAIN OF THE VEHICLE WHICH SHUTS DOWN THE ENGINE TO "SAFELY" STOP THE VEHICLE SO THE CAR DOESN'T LIGHT ITSELF ON FIRE. THE CAR LITERALLY GOES FROM 60 TO 0 IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. ANY TIME THE VEHICLE HAS GONE INTO FAILSAFE MODE I HAVE BEEN TERRIFIED OF CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR GETTING REARENDED. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE FORD SERVICE CENTER AND PEP BOYS FOR REPETITIVE ENGINE ISSUES, COOLANT SYSTEM ISSUES, TRANSMISSION ISSUES, COMPUTER SYSTEM ISSUES, ETC. THERE ARE 9 RECALLS ON THE CAR THUS FAR, 8 OF THEM HAVE BEEN FIXED - THE AIRBAG RECALL DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE BECAUSE THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS NOT ON. MY CAR HAS SPENT A TOTAL OF 28 DAYS IN THE SHOP SINCE IT WAS LEASED IN 2013 FOR REPEAT REPAIRS. THE FORD ESCAPE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM. THIS KEY ALLOWS THE DRIVER TO UNLOCK THE CAR BY SIMPLY TOUCHING THE DOOR HANDLE. THE SYSTEM ALSO INCLUDES A FEATURE THAT PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING OR UNLOCKS THE DOORS IMMEDIATELY IF KEYS ARE LEFT INSIDE THE CAR WITHOUT A DRIVER OR PASSENGER PRESENT. THIS OSTENSIBLY MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR A DRIVER TO LOCK THEIR KEYS INSIDE THE CAR. THE CAR ALSO INCLUDES A AUTO-LOCKING FEATURE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO LOCK ALL DOORS ONLY WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND BEGINS MOVING ABOVE 5 MPH. ON THREE OCCASIONS, INCLUDING TODAY (6/11/2015) THIS SYSTEM HAS MALFUNCTIONED TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT ITS BEHAVIOR WAS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF ITS INTENDED DESIGN AND IT BECAME A SAFETY HAZARD. EACH OCCASION HAS INVOLVED MY WIFE, WHO NATURALLY CARRIES THE KEYS IN HER PURSE OR BRIEFCASE. SHE HAS GOTTEN OUT OF THE CAR AND CLOSED THE DOOR WITHOUT LOCKING THE CAR MANUALLY. ON THESE OCCASIONS THE CAR HAS LOCKED ITSELF WITH THE KEYS INSIDE AS SOON AS SHE CLOSED HER DOOR AND SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO GET INTO THE CAR. THERE ARE TWO MAJOR FAILINGS OCCURRING. THE CARS SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT THE LOCKING OF THE DOORS OR IMMEDIATELY UNLOCK THEM IF THE CAR IS PARKED AND IT FAILS TO DETECT A DRIVER IN THE SEAT. THE CAR HAS NO FUNCTIONALITY THAT AUTO LOCKS THE CAR WHEN IT IS OFF AND STATIONARY, YET IT IS DOING THIS. IF YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR WITHOUT THE KEYS AND CLOSE THE DOOR, IT WILL LOCK ITSELF. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT HAS RESULTED IN MY SON GETTING LOCKED IN THE CAR IN THE HEAT. I WAS NEARBY, AND ABLE TO COME UNLOCK THE CAR, OTHERWISE WE WOULD HAVE HAD TO SMASH A WINDOW. CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS AN AIR POCKET IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM AND TO ADD DISTILLED WATER AND DRIVE IT TO FORD. THE DEALERSHIP DRAINED THE COOLANT, ADDED COOLANT AND PRESSURIZED TO CHECK THE SYSTEM. EXPLAINED TO FORD THAT OUR DAUGHTER WAS TAKING THE CAR ON A 500 MILE ROAD TRIP THAT AFTERNOON. THEY REASSURED US IT WAS FIXED AND THAT SHE WOULD NOT HAVE AN ISSUE, BUT IF SHE DID, SIMPLY ADD DISTILLED WATER AGAIN TO RESOLVE. THIS NEW DEALERSHIP SAID THE VEHICLE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE SOMEONE FROM FORD TO COME LOOK AT IT. THE NEW DEALERSHIP FAXED US THE LIST OF WHAT WAS WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLE: LEAKING WATER PUMP, LEAKING TURBO COOLANT TUBE, TURBO COOLANT BANJO BOLT LOOSE, HOSE CLAMP ON TURBO COOLANT TUBE NOT RELEASED, COOLANT STAND PIPE NOT BOLTED, ENGINE HARNESS TAPED BUT NOT SECURED TO ENGINE COVER, COOLANT STAND PIPE HARNESS NOT PROPERLY SECURED, BATTERY CABLE REROUTING NOT PERFORMED, FOAM PROTECTION NOT APPLIED TO COOLANT LEVEL MODULE, ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTERS NOT REMOVED AT ALL, THERMOSTAT HOUSING BOLTS LOOSE, CV BOOT RIPPED, BOLTS ON OIL DEFLECTOR NOT TIGHT TO SPECS. FORD SAYS THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE BUT WE TOLD THEM WE COULD NOT RISK OUR LIVES ANY MORE WITH THIS DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. ON 7/29/14 WE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO FORD, SENT THEM THE LIST, GOT A CASE NUMBER AND REQUESTED THAT FORD BUY BACK THE VEHICLE. ON 8/8/14 FORD DENIED OUR REQUEST. I WAS DRIVING ON IH 10 IN SAN ANTONIO GOING APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES PER HOUR IN MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE THAT I HAVE HAD FOR JUST OVER A YEAR. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 19,500 MILES ON THESE TIRES. MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT (LITERALLY THE TREAD BLEW RIGHT OFF THE SIDEWALL) AND RIPPED THE PLASTIC SKIRTING OFF MY PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR. WE CHANGED TO THE SPARE AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD MY CONTINENTAL CONTIPROCONTACT TIRE WOULD BE SENT BACK TO CONTINENTAL TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY- AFTER READING THE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS, WE WILL NOW BE CHANGING ALL 4 OF OUR TIRES (THIS IS AFTER SPENDING ABOUT $175 YESTERDAY ON A NEW CONTINENTAL SO THAT WE COULD ATTEMPT TO FILE A WARRANTY CLAIM). AT THIS POINT, THE BEST THAT WE CAN HOPE FOR IS THAT THEY WILL GIVE US "UP TO 62% REIMBURSEMENT" PER THE DEALER BECAUSE OF MY MILEAGE, REGARDLESS OF THE FACT THAT THERE WAS PLENTY OF TREAD DEPTH LEFT ON THE TIRE AND I HAD NOT PUNCTURED IT OR RUN OVER ANYTHING OTHER THAN ROADWAY. *TR

THE FIRST TWO WHILE STANDING STILL AT A LIGHT, THE LAST 2 WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN, 2ND TIME 07-08-2014, 3RD 07-20-2014 AND 4TH TODAY 07-22-2014. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO BLUE SPRINGS FORD IN BLUE SPRINGS MO ON MONDAY 07-14-2014 WAS INFORMED THE PART HAD TO BE ORDERED AND WOULD BE IN ABOUT 7 TO 10 DAYS BUT WASN'T INFORMED WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY CAR. CALLED BLUE SPRINGS FORD TODAY 07-22-2014 WAS INFORMED THE PART NEEDED IS A O2 SENOR AND IS ON BACK ORDER. I'M AFRAID THE CAR IS GOING TO STALL WHILE IN MOTION AND GET REAR ENDED. I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER IT WONT STALL WHILE MOVING BUT THE 3RD AND 4TH TIME IT DID WHILE SLOWING DOWN INSTEAD OF AT A FULL STOP LIKE THE FIRST AND 2ND TIME. I USE I -70 TO GET BACK AND FORTH TO WORK INCLUDING RUNNING ERRANDS. THIS IS BECOMING A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE 2013 FORD ESCAPE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE O2 SENOR. I HAVE THE 2013 FORD ESCAPE 2.0 WITH ECO-BOOST. SUDDENLY IT BEGAN STALLING WHEN I WAS IN PARK, IT HAS GRADUALLY BEGAN STALLING WHEN I AM IN DRIVE BUT AT A STOP. LUCKILY IT HAS NOT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS IN MOTION. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH SERVICE NOW INDICATOR AND OTHER DASH ICONS. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND RESTART WITH NO PROBLEM. ALL ICON'S DISAPPEAR AND THE VEHICLE GOES BACK TO RUNNING NORMAL. I HAVE NOTICED IT IS IDLING ROUGHLY AND A BIT HIGHER THAN NORMAL ABOUT 900 RPM. CAR WAS DRIVEN IN THE MORNING AND RETURNED TO THE GARAGE AT ABOUT 1030AM. APPROXIMATELY 4 HOURS LATER THE CAR ON FIRE, MY DAD'S NEIGHBOR WOKE HIM FROM A NAP, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND THEY CUT THE BATTERY LINE AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE ENTIRE INSIDE OF THE CAR IS MELTED AND TOTALED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATOR THE DAY OF THE FIRE SAID IT WAS "AIRBAG BRACKET ON THE LEFT SIDE ABOVE THE PASSENGER DOOR", AND THE ROOF ABOVE THE AIRBAG WAS A HOTSPOT. FORD IS NOT BEING RESPONSIVE, THE DEALER REFERRED US TO THE TOLL FREE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE. THEY TOOK THE INFORMATION GAVE HIM A CLAIM NUMBER AND ASKED HIM WHAT HE WANTED! SINCE OUR 2013 FORD ESCAPE HAD THE FORD RECALL 13S12C AND 13S12D COMPLETED IN EARLY APRIL, THE VEHICLE FUEL MILEAGE HAS DROPPED BY AN AVERAGE OF 2 MPG. SOME AERODYNAMIC FEATURES OF THE VEHICLE WERE COMPROMISED UNDER THE RECALL TO HELP KEEP THE ENGINE FROM OVER HEATING AND STARTING A FIRE. ITS A GOOD THING WE LEASED THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE WE WILL BE RETURNING IT TO THE DEALER WHEN THE LEASE IS UP AND MOST LIKELY WILL NOT PURCHASE A FORD VEHICLE TO REPLACE IT. MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE KEEPS SHUTTING OFF WHILE IN MOTION AND ALSO WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND STARTED SOMETIME IN JUNE, 2014. HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF HOW SLOW OR FAST I AM MOVING IN THE VEHICLE. TOOK VEHICLE INTO MY LOCAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR A SCHEDULED CHECK UP AND MENTIONED THE ISSUE AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. CALLED FORD CORPORATE IN SEPTEMBER AND LOGGED A FORMAL COMPLAINT. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE UNTIL PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE. THEY COULD NOT SEND APPROPRIATE PARTS UNTIL THEY COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING WRONG. THEN THEY SAID A RECALL WOULD BE ISSUED THE END OF SEPTEMBER AND PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR FIXES THEN. CALLED LOCAL FORD SERVICE ON 10/10/2014 AND THEY CLAIM PARTS STILL HAVE NOT COME AND COULD BE ANOTHER WEEK. THIS SAME ISSUE SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING TO OTHER 2013 MODELS AROUND THE COUNTRY. FORD HAS BEEN VERY SLOW ABOUT ACKNOWLEDGING BUT WHEN PRESSED THEY SEEM TO GIVE PARTIAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT BUT STILL NO PROMISES. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE FOR DRIVERS. CAN SOMETHING BE DONE?
