I WAS DRIVING WHEN THE HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE STOP SAFELY ALERT POPPED UP ON THE SCREEN ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. I WAS DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, IT WENT OUT OF GEAR AND ACTED AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL
I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR SUDDENLY SEIZED UP LIKE IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND WOULDN'T MOVE AND IS NOW UNDRIVABLE. AFTER RESEARCHING I HAVE FOUND THIS YEAR VEHICLE IS KNOWN FOR THIS TO HAPPEN.
A CAR TOOK THE RED LIGHT AS WE HAD THE GREEN LIGHT SHE RAN INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THEN FISH TALED AND HER REAR CAR SMASHED INTO MY FRONT... NONE OF MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AT ALL BUT THE OTHER 2 CAR DID AND MY FRONT END DAMAGES ARE SEVERELY DAMAGED. THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ACCIDENT WAS ARRESTED AT THE SCENE AND THEY DID A SOBRIETY TEST ON HER
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY 70MPH, I SUDDENLY LOST POWER STEERING. I STRUGGLED TO KEEP THE CAR IN MY LANE AS IT PULLED HARD TO THE RIGHT. MY DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH "STEERING LOSS STOP SAFELY" MESSAGE.
2014 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM, 1.6 ECOBOOST ENGINE, SINCE AROUND 55000 MILES, NOTHING BUT ISSUES RELATED TO ENGINE AND COOLING SYSTEMS...CAR HAD RECALL THAT FORD DID NOT HAVE PARTS FOR, ENGINE FROZE UP COOLANT AND OIL ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, FORD REPLACED ENGINE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS DOCUMENTED THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL YET AND THE WORST CASE SCENARIO HAPPENED. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN A CAR THAT HAS 55000 MILES ON IT. THEY INSTALLED THE COOLANT SENSOR AT THAT TIME AS WELL. THEN AT 75,000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION WENT WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING WITH 2 CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I HAD IT REPLACED BY MY PRIVATE MECHANIC FOR $4500. LAST WEEK, USED THE FACTORY INSTALLED REMOTE START X1 IN 20 DEGREE NEW ENGLAND WEATHER, AND WHEN TRIED TO GO OUT TO CAR, THE HIGH TEMP CODE WAS ON AND THE ENGINE WOULDNT START. LET IT SIT FOR 5 HOURS IN THE 20 DEGREE WEATHER, CLEARLY ENGINE NOW COOL BUT STILL WOULDN'T START...HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC, NEXT AM HE LET ME KNOW THAT THE 2018 COOLANT SENSOR WAS BLOWN AND LEAKING COOLANT...REPLACED AND REPAIRED AT COST OF $250...WHY SHOULD A SENSOR GO AFTER ONLY 2 YEARS? SO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS ONE CAR ALL AROUND THE COOLANT AND THE ENGINE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE LAWSUIT FILED IN DECEMBER TO JOIN THIS AS WELL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE AN ABNORMAL BEEPING SOUND. AS THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, A FLAME QUICKLY ERUPTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. DUE TO THE IMMEDIATE SHOCK OF THE SITUATION, THE CONTACT BECAME FRANTIC AND KICKED OUT HER DRIVER SIDE WINDOW IN ORDER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THEN CALLED THE AUTHORITIES AND THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED ON THE SCENE. A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WERE FILED AT THE SCENE. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS LATER DEEMED DESTROYED. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAVE YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED HER FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000(ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WHICH SHE WAS UNAWARE OF PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, attempting to activate the heater, there was an abnormal fuel odor entering the vehicle through the vents. No warning light was illuminated. A local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 94,602.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while reversing the vehicle at approximately 3 MPH, the backup camera would show as "camera not available" or the camera would start pixilating and go blank. The contact stated no other warning lights were illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that a module for the "blue tooth/hands free" phone system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure on the camera was still recurring. The contact researched a recall that could be related to her failure, NHTSA Campaign Number 22V082000 (Back Over Prevention). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000. The radio quit working as well as hands free and backup camera comes and goes when it wants. They thought the radio module might fix all of it but only radio and hands free. This car has always been serviced and repaired at Wehr Ford.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WENT ON AND THE VOICE ACTIVATED SYSTEM STATED "YOU ARE NOT IN PARK" I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. RESTART THE SUV AND DRIVE HOME. I WAS LUCKY BECAUSE I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE INTERSTATE.....AND WAS DOING 25MPH! IF IT HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE I PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE HERE RIGHT NOW!
SUBJ: FORD'S SWOLLEN WHEEL LUG-NUT ISSUE ISSUE: WHEEL LUG-NUTS ON FORD VEHICLES BECOME SWOLLEN AND UN-SERVICEABLE. THE TIRE WRENCH TOOL THAT FORD PROVIDES WILL NOT FIT THESE DEFECTIVE LUG-NUTS AND BECAUSE OF SUCH A FLAT TIRE CAN NOT BE EASILY NOR QUICKLY CHANGED.; A SAFETY AS WELL AS A CONSUMER ISSUE.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR STARTED TO SMOKE FROM THE HOOD. THE SMOKE STARTED TO COME INTO THE CAR SO THE CAR WAS PULLED OVER. ONCE STOPPED, THE HOOD WAS POPPED AND FLAMES STARTED TO COME OUT. THE ENTIRE FRONT END WAS BURNED.

The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing excessive coolant consumption because he was adding coolant to the vehicle more frequently than usual. Additionally, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that coolant was leaking in a cylinder. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where no coolant leak was found; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the water pump was leaking and needed to be replaced. The dealer provided an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN MESSAGE BOARD READ CAR IS OVERHEATED AND TO PULL OVER AND CAR SHUT DOWN, THEN THE TEMP GAUGE SHOT UP TO H. FINALLY CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP & CAR WAS SMOKING, OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW FLAMES, POURED WATER ON IT CALLED 911... APPARENTLY COOLLANT LEAKED OUT AND CAUSED THE TURBO TO GET HOT AND STARTED A FIRE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GORDY'S AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR (2639 S FIELDSPAN RD, DUSON, LA 70529). THE CONTACT HAS NOT NOTIFIED THE LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,883.

THE ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. WENT TO FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY DID EXTENSIVE TESTING ON IT, SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM AND ONLY THAT THE ENGINE COOLANT SENSOR CAN BE SENSITIVE. ENGINE COOLANT LIGHT GOES ON DAILY, YET LEVELS ARE OKAY. REMOVED CAP TO CHECK HEARD A HISSING NOISE AND THEN FLUID FROM OVERFLOW FLOWED IN AND NOT LOW. SO CANNOT ADD MORE COOLANT YET ENGINE LIGHT SAYS 'LOW ENGINE COOLANT' TODAY, AS WITH THE OWNER COMPLAINTS, I WAS GOING UP A HILL, AND A RED ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SAYING 'ENGINE TOO HOT, TURN OFF IMMEDIATELY AND PULL OVER' WELL I COULDN'T PULL OVER ON THE HILL SO WITHIN ONLY A FEW SECONDS, VEHICLE SHOOK, AND TURNED OFF LEAVING ME STUCK/STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A HILL WITH NO ONE TO HELP. WAITED TURNED ON AGAIN WAS ABLE TO GO MAYBE 2 FT, LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, SHUT OFF VEHICLE AGAIN. IT IS ONLY 46 DEGREES OUT TODAY AND BARELY STARTED DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING ON THE FREEWAY LIKE OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ARE HAVING! I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT. LET ALONE TEACH MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE ON IT! While driving at an unknown speed, the wheel detached. The contact stated that the studs had sheared off. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the wheel bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not contacted or informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
AFTER PURCHASING MY FORD MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. I REPLACED IT AND A YEAR LATER HAD MY RECALL REPLACED FOR MY COOLANT SENSOR. WHILE THIS HAPPENED I HAD NO IDEA MY COOLANT LEVEL WAS SO LOW BECAUSE MY WARNING LIGHT NEVER CAME ON IN RETURN DAMAGED THE HOSE. SO I HAD TO SPEND $562 TO REPLACE THAT TO MAKE SURE THE RECALL WAS PUT ON CORRECTLY. WHEN I RETURNED TO PICK UP MY CAR I COULDN'T EVEN DRIVE IT OUT BECAUSE IT STARTED JERKING AND FEELS LIKE MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT AGAIN. THIS 2014 FORD ESCAPE HAS SOME SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. NOT TO MENTION AFTER SO MANY MILES OF DRIVING I HAVE TO TAKE OUT MY FUSE TO RESET MY BLUETOOTH RADIO.
REMOTE START HAS ALSO VERY WORKED
WE HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WHERE SOMETIMES PHONE WILL NOT WORK OR AUTOMATICALLY CONNECT . THE RADIO GOES OUT AND WE ALSO HAVE AND ISSUE THE THE TRUNK NOT OPENING OR CLOSING WHEN REAR BUTTON OR DASH BUTTON IS PUSHED. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS ISSUE MAY GIVE OTHER TROUBLE IN THE FUTURE . THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVER OTHER DAY
VEHICLE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AS LEAKING COOLANT INTO ONE OF THE CYLINDERS. IF LEFT UNREPAIRED, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF ENGINE FIRE. DEALER RECOMMENDED REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, AT AN UNACCEPTABLY HIGH COST OF APPROXIMATELY $9000.
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. I AM UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT IS HARD TO TURN. WHEN STARTING THE CAR THE ERROR MESSAGE POWER STEERING ASSISTANT FAULT. I COMES ON AND GOES OFF.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON PLACING THE GEAR SHIFTER INTO THE PARK POSITION, THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WOULD RECOGNIZE THE VEHICLE IN THE REVERSE POSITION AND WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V471000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT THEN REACHED OUT TO THE MANUFACTURER ONLINE AND WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN POSSESSION OF THE MECHANIC AND HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000.
TORQUE CONVERTER, TRANSMISSION, WARNING LIGHTS ON THURSDAY, 12/3/20, MY DAUGHTER RETURNED HOME AND EXPLAINED THAT SHE NOTICED A WHINING SOUND AS SHE TURNED INTO OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER SHE STARTED THE CAR FOR ME AND I COULD NOT DISTINGUISH ANY SOUNDS TO BE CONCERNED WITH AND TOLD HER SHE WOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE IT TO HER VOLLEYBALL PRACTICE'I SAID''IT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE ANYTHING THAT WILL CAUSE IT TO DIE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.' WITHIN 10 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING CALLED TO SAY THE CAR WAS LOSING POWER AND BARELY MOVING ON A BUSY CITY STREET. SHE HAD TO COAST ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER TO GET TO A STREET WHERE SHE COULD WAIT FOR ME. ULTIMATELY WHERE SHE WAS STRANDED WAS A DANGEROUS SPOT TO BE FOR OTHER CARS TURNING ONTO THE STREET BECAUSE OF A WALL BLOCKING THEIR VIEW OF HER VEHICLE UNTIL THEY MADE THE TURN. WHEN I ARRIVED I CONFIRMED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVEABLE. SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEARS BARELY GENERATED ANY MOVEMENT. IT TOOK 20 MINUTES DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT ABOUT 3 MPH TO REACH A PARKING LOT (IT TOOK ONE MINUTE TO GET THE CAR OVER A SLIGHT HUMP TURNING INTO THE PARKING LOT) WHERE I LEFT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT UNTIL I COULD HAVE IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. FORD DIAGNOSED THE FOLLOWING 'SUSPECT TORQUECONVERTER INTERNAL FAILURE SENT METAL THROUGH THEPUMP (WHINE) AND THROUGH OUT THE REST OF THETRANSMISSION.' TWO REPAIR OPTIONS NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $5,809.18 OR OVERHAUL FOR $5,181.57. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND IS DANGEROUS ENOUGH TO WARRANT A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION. VEHICLES SHOULD NOT GO FROM RUNNING FINE TO COMPLETE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY ROADWAYS. REPLACING A TORQUE CONVERTER IS ONE THING BUT A FAILURE OF A TORQUE CONVERTER CAUSING A $5,000+ REPAIR JOB IS ANOTHER THING. WARNING LIGHT AFTER FAILURE MAY ALSO NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED. THIS VEHICLE HAS A RECORD OF REGULAR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND AN "INFO" LIGHT CAME ON SAYING "TRANSMISSION FAULT - SERVICE TRANSMISSION NOW". THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK CAR TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR COMPANY AND THEY SAID IT'S A TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE AND I NEED A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $4,500!!!! THIS CAR ISN'T THAT OLD AND I'M SEEING THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH 2014 FORD ESCAPES. IN MOTION ON CITY STREET.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE JUST HAD ENGINE LIGHTS COMING ON AND OVERHEATED AND JUST QUIT RUNNING.
THE CAR STARTED TO DELAY AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE WHILE I WAS ON A THREE LANE INTERSTATE GOING 70MPH THEN SHORTLY AFTER THAT IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD BOOM SOUND THAT WOULD SHAKE THE VEHICLE EVERYTIME IT WAS SHIFTED INTO ANY OF THE GEARS. IT WON'T ACCELERATE AT ALL NOW. IT WILL MOVE FORWARD AND BSCKWARD AUTOMATICALLY WHEN PUT INTO GEAR BUT WILL ONLY REV WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED
I WAS DRIVING ON A STATE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS THE ENGINE REVVED BUT THE CAR HAD NO POWER. THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, AND WHEN I TRIED TO SHIFT TO THE "SPORT" SHIFT IT WAS CLEAR THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE PROPERLY. I PUSHED THE CAR (OUT OF THE HIGHWAY) ONTO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. I WAITED ABOUT 15 MINUTES, STARTED THE CAR AND DROVE IT 5 MILES HOME. ONCE ON THE WAY HOME I HAD TO TURN IT OFF FOR 15 MINUTES AGAIN. IT WAS SHIFTING ERRATICALLY AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. WHEN I GOT HOME AND PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY, THE "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" LIGHT CAME ON. THIS WAS THE FIRST INDICATION THAT I WAS GIVEN THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, SINCE THE CAR JUST DIED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO WARNING. I AM VERY LUCKY THAT IT WAS NOT A BUSY HIGHWAY AND THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE ROAD QUICKLY. I'M TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT IS THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS KILLED BY HAVING THIS HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. WE SHOULD AT LEAST GET A WARNING *BEFORE* IT HAPPENS.

I OWN A 2014 FORD ESCAPE IT HAS 101,000 MILES ON IT. THE CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED WITH ALL THE NORMAL MAINTENANCE DONE AT MILEAGE RECOMMENDED. I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE IN TRAFFIC WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT OFF, WHICH LEFT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE DUE TO THE BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO SHOP AND COME TO FIND OUT THE TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT. CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND OF COURSE THE WARRANTY HAD JUST EXPIRED ON IT AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WEREN'T AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. T THIS POINT IT WAS GOING TO COST ME OVER 5K TO HAVE EVERYTHING FIXED. COME TO FIND OUT FORD KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR YEAR MAKE AND MODEL OF THIS VEHICLE AND ARE PRETTY MUCH A JOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 75,328.

WINDING NOISE COMING FROM TRANSMISSION DURING DRIVING AND WHILE IN PARK, WHEN THE TRANSMISSION HITS RUNNING TEMP IT STARTS TO LUNGE AND BRAKE RANDOMLY WITHOUT HITTING THE BRAKE, SHIFT POINTS ARE NOT LINING UP WITH THE CORRECT ENGINE RPM WHICH CREATES SUDDEN SHIFTING OR LATE SHIFTING. AFTER ALL OF THIS HAPPENED THEN THE 'TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW' MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE DASH. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ON CITY STREETS UNDER NORMAL STOP AND GO CONDITIONS. 81,639 MILES ON THE ODOMETER CURRENTLY.
PER FORD DIAGNOSIS, TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE HAS DEGRADED OVER TIME CAUSING CAR TO REMAIN IN NEUTRAL, EVEN WHILE GEAR SHIFTER IS LOCATED IN PARK POSITION. CAR WILL NOT SIT IN PARK UNLESS PARKING BRAKE IS APPLIED. FOUND WHILE PARKING IN DRIVEWAY. KNOWN RECALL ON SOME 2014 FORD ESCAPES. LUCKILY HAD JUST STOPPED AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, STEERING WHEEL SHOOK, AND THEN RECEIVED ERROR MESSAGE OF 'STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED'. PLACED THE CAR IN REVERSE AND REALIZED I HAD NO POWER STEERING. PERFORMED A CODE SCAN AND RECEIVED A U3000 ERROR. TAKING VEHICLE TO FORD TOMORROW FOR ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTICS.

The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had been serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) prior to owning the vehicle however, the contact was relating the failure to the recall. IN FEB 2019 I HAD MY FORD ESCAPE SERVICED FOR AN ENGINE COOLANT RECALL (17S09). IN OCTOBER 2020 THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOUND MY ENGINE COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDERS OF MY ENGINE. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BY THE RECALL. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND FORD CLAIMS THE REPAIR WILL BE $5,000. THEY CLAIM THAT THE RECALL WILL NOT COVER THE EXPENSE. I AM WRITING FOR FORD TO REOPEN RECALL 17S09. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND LIABILITY.
DRIVING IN METRO AREA MY CAR BEGAN NOT MOVING OR WHAT I WOULD CALL NOT ENGAGED WITH THE GAS PEDAL. THAN IT BEGAN TO RUN FINE, WHEN I STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL AGAIN THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL BUT ROLLED BACK A BIT UNTIL I PRESSED ON THE BREAK PEDDLE. THEN THE NEXT TIME I PUSHED THE GAS IT LUNGED FORWARD, I PULLED OVER AT THE NEXT PARKING LOT AND HAD IT TOWED TO A CAR SHOP. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION.
SHIFTER CABLE BROKE. WOULD NOT ALLOW TO SHIFT IN ANY GEAR. THIS HAS RECALLED ON SEVERAL THOUSAND VEHICLES, UNFORTUNATELY MY VIN # WAS NOT HONORED. ALSO BRAKE BOOSTER HAS FAILED. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT AND TEST DRIVEN HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT'S WIFE PLACED THE GEAR SHIFTER IN REVERSE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS BLACK. ADDITIONALLY, METAL FRAGMENTS WERE FOUND WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED BACK TO THE FIRST INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 72,000. Failure occurred twice once when the vehicle stopped trying to exit parking space. Vehicle would not move when in reverse. Second failure was at the traffic light car would not move. Consumer stated problem went away and was taken to a dealer for diagnostics which showed burned black transmission and metal fragments were in the transmission pan.
A DEGRADED SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING THAT DETACHES FROM THE TRANSMISSION MAY ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN A GEAR STATE DIFFERENT THAN THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION SELECTED BY THE DRIVER. THE CONDITION COULD ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO 'PARK' AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION MAY NOT BE IN 'PARK,' WITH NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. IF THE PARKING BRAKE IS NOT APPLIED, A DEGRADED SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING THAT DETACHES FROM THE TRANSMISSION COULD RESULT IN UNINTENDED VEHICLE MOVEMENT, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR CRASH. FORD IS TELLING ME MY VEHICLE DOESN'T APPLY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND RIDICULOUS. OUT OF 500,000 MY VEHICLE DOES NOT APPLY. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUT IN PARK. SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, TOOK THE KEYS OUT, OPENED THE DOOR AND IT STARTING ROLLING BACKWARDS. THE SHIFT INDICATOR DISPLAYED THAT IT WAS IN S. MAKES ME SICK THAT FORD IS GETTING AWAY WITH THIS.
